I'm half awake so this might get very rambly, but I fucking LOVE IT when I can tell a writer either is from the general area of Ohio/Indiana/Illinois/Michigan(or just the Midwest in general) or has been to one of those places, specfically when they write Marc. Calling soft drinks 'Pop', somehow managing to write the 'incredibly fast yet still understandable' talking that every person ive ever met from that region including-myself does, casual references to shit that is very Midwestern (especially stuff that is VERY specific to that area specfically) obviously Marc is from Chicago (see 'the thing with the cubs hat') so there are some things specific to Chicago that I personally haven't really interacted with (Cincinnati REPRESENT... Obligatory 'i no longer live in that region of the country' disclaimer ) but!! Still!! It makes the part of my heart that longs for Barqs Red Cream Soda to be available everywhere happy when people actually write Midwestern!Marc even if they don't necessarily mean to (...I mean, it probably doesn't help how much he reminds me of my older half brother, but I digress.)
