Kaz Brekker would never allow anyone, let alone himself, to own Inej Ghafa. This boy used his money from the heist to buy out her indenture, among other things. In the books, Kaz was just as much a pawn, legally, of Per Haskell as Inej. We see that in one of the first chapters of SoC. We see him being subservient and simpering, and Per Haskell deriving authority from that. And Inej watches. Inej watches Kaz as he does this. They are both soldiers in this gang.

Kaz in the show, however? Yikes.

Yeah, like I see fans act like Kaz could have paid off her indenture any time which is just laughable? Like your right, Kaz ISN'T the leader of the Dreges until the very end of CK. Kaz literally had to sell off the assets from the businesses he took great pain and effort into creating in order to pay it off. That's a fuck ton of money! Inej's indenture was predatory for a reason! The best he could do to help her was give her a better deal, and we see him take measures to insure her freedom best he can (no tattoo, tools of protection, the boat etc.) Show Kaz on the other hand IS the leader of the gang, he's a whole ass adult, and he simply owns her because she's useful and attractive to him lol. Which really says it all...
