…The subsequent erection of fences and cultivation of hedges to demarcate individual plots would change the appearance of the surrounding country for ever, shaping today’s patchwork field system which we now think of as archetypal English countryside.

All of this is happening because the local council is responsible for paying to do something with the ruined church, but in like 50 years they haven't had the money, but also aren't allowed to just knock it down. So it keeps sitting there and people keep going up there and digging up human bones from the churchyard to play with

Hire a guy to go up there and scare people away 3 times a night, England. Pay my rent and pub tab and I'll do it, sans wage. Geez
