Odette Hollows [ @ahollowgrave ]: Goody-two-shoes with sticky fingers and a heart built to yearn. An earnest nun and comfort to the dead. Prudence Dubois [ @prudentfolly ]: An over-worked retainer who always has a lighter when you need it. She'd prefer you not, though. Viatrix Volkova [ @lonewildling ]: A once-wildling with a lingering connection to those who still wander. The dampest stray dog you ever saw.

Although Odette spends a lot of her time wandering she often returns to the Shroud. Visiting her convent and checking in on a small list of friends who live outside of Gridania. Viatrix is one of those. Viatrix has traded with the convent in the past, so they have been friends since before Odette's vows. Odette sees a woman haunted by grief and feels the need to Be Involved, you know? And Viatrix is not one to turn from the Moon's light. Their visits consist of Odette bringing her supplies, something new from her travels, and then accompanying Viatrix on any errands she has. A lot of gossip, mostly from Odette but sometimes Viatrix has visited the convent and Noticed Something Interesting. I haven't decided yet if Odette is aware of Viatrix's affliction but I'm leaning towards yes. She's observant, raised in the Shroud, and trained among the conjurers at the Fane for a time. If Viatrix hasn't just straight up told her she would have put the pieces together herself, they've spent enough time together.

viatrix is Eeyore btw. like yes she is a potentially very dangerous and deadly creature but mostly she is eeyore. mostly she is pathetic. damp. big, wet eyes. guilty expression. heavy sighs. you understand.

been thinking about viairix and her wildling nature. curse.

mainly that i think rather than her scars being from an attack of some sort -- the standard werewolf trope -- i think i might have them be... more like the mycelium of mushrooms, lining the underside of her skin. I've already changed up how her scars look, and they do look very mycelium-like. When she shifts it erupts and becomes much more liquid like -- making eyes of itself, protecting her; eyes in the back of her head and making bloody shields to block attacks. Grants her some resistance to fire, as well as healing abilities. You've stabbed her but now a webbing has formed over the wound and it didn't slow her down a second!! When she's hunting in this form I think it'll pull aether and/or nutrients from surrounding plant life to heal her, or make her faster or sharper. Leaving the area infested, rotting before it comes back more lush than ever. An omen of her passing, certainly, but also plants & fungi are very tight buds. I also think the shift brings her from an "I" to a "We" -- her and the other wildlings, still trapped. I was toying with the idea of the Elementals using her as some sort of seek-and-destroy attack dog but I think instead I want her to have a lingering connection with wildlings. a cycle of their fear and anger building and building and bursting at the weakest point: viatrix. she shifts, she runs, she sates.

Once nothing more than another young hyuran woman, Viatrix's life was changed forever when she stirred the Greenwrath to action. Taken and claimed thus: Wildling -- fit only to wander the woods and hunger. Though it is a rare and dangerous thing to retrieve a Wildling, no lives were put to risk for Viatrix. One day she was simply -- spat out. Released. Unwanted. Left with a lingering connection to those who still wander, Viatrix lives as a hermit in the depths of the Shroud. Watchful and wary and waiting.
