🎼 Your favorite music to draw to right now? ooo how fun!! i got 2 other anons asking this too haha! i love music and i'm also a (hobbyist) musician myself so... usually the music while i draw is dependent on the mood/intention/character i have with the piece! (silly art = silly music etc.) often times i'll loop a song for DAYS just to keep up the "vibe" cause i don't have a go-to favorite when i draw! otherwise i just listen to whatever comes to mind in the moment! but yeah right now (while i draw DCA au stuff), i'm listening to Willow Smith's "empathogen" album & yaelokre's "Hayfields" because i adore that project and it's fun to sing along with!

🐻 Your go-to things to draw when you need comfort? hmm... my go-to comfort to draw is almost always whatever my current hyperfixation is! which is primarily DCA right now! outside of that (tho i'd probably have art block tbh), it's usually drawing myself in varying styles or (if i pull them out of the basement) my OCs. i'm a fanartist at heart, so drawing original stuff sometimes feels alien to me haha! i need a fictional muse to fuel the art lmao

☕ Do you do warmup sketches before drawing? (Bonus: do you have any to share?) actually- no i don't! i don't really "warmup" at all because it ALWAYS ends up being a sketch i post or end up as a finished piece! (i feel like this would make more sense if you watch me draw live ig/posted a speedpaint? maybe for art requests and commissions, but i can't recall tbh.) before digital art, i always drew with a PEN or CRAYON cause that's the most sensory friendly option for me. (it doesn't make a lot of scratchy noises like markers and pencils) so i unintentionally trained my muscle memory and myself to draw whatever comes to mind because every stroke was (literally) permanent + i tried to draw fast and loose cause i hate the feeling of paper. it gives me the strongest, most volatile, and intense visceral ICK. when i draw, i always draw with intention otherwise i'm probably not drawing at all! (this is also why i'll go on streaks of posting often then disappearing) idk my vision is usually clear, even for sketches and the muscle memory does its job! im too lazy to do actual "warmups" tbh. anyways, it's not a warmup sketch per say but i here's a random wips i have !! :3 (it's all LDR, but the last two images are from a separate wip!)

likes using charcoal pencils !! It’s his favorite out of everything , but he dislikes how messy it gets because the charcoal always covers his hands and arms .

not the best at painting , but he’s well known of his complimentary colors and what looks good with what .

Usually listens to music while he’s drawing if Taylor is busy or gone from class . He likes taking instrumental recommendations from Ashlyn .

Takes a drawing class , obvi , along with Taylor because he didn’t really want to be alone . Plus , She’s a nice buddy to have !!

TAYLOR !! :

Takes a drawing class with Ben as said before !! Whenever they have to pick partners , they go for each other the most .

she’s not the BEST at drawing honestly , but she takes it so she can study in machinery , like drawing and mapping out designs .

She likes using those kids markers , whatever their called . She prefers using the marker FIRST then going over it with pencil to really pop out the design . Digital art also works out for her , it’s one of her favorites because there’s so many options ( sometimes )

uses google for inspo or to copy certain parts down cause Pinterest is blocked on the computers and drawing gears is hard to do ( real 😿 )

Draws little cats on her work when she’s bored or smiley faces on Bens work just cause she’s silly ( trademarked smiley — Aiden / j )

Doesn’t have photography , but she does join Logan after school to help out with certain camera functions or just take photos of eachother for her memory book ( she has one , cannot tell me otherwise )

Also uses highlighters just cause . I mean they’re fun so why not . Her and Aiden share a bunch of random stickers that he got on like eBay for customization 😼

becahse of that , no one really knows what he draws but the teacher is impressed so 🤷

thought about pottery once , tried it , hated the feeling of it getting under her nails and it kept drying up and she had to wash her hands constantly and it kept getting in her hair and it was a bad experience . ( more projection )

painting really isn’t her favorite , but she likes the look of the colors mixing and it’s kinda like dancing to her , with the long , sometimes constant movements and new variations . Look it just puts her in a slight trance .

doesn’t do well with creativity coming into play , but she managed to find a way with turning art into dance , like referencing other dancers online and copying their moments onto a canvas to make it dramatic or something .

Prefers prismacolor pencils over most things , sometimes joins Taylor and Logan after school to try out photography .

Sometimes she and Aiden would share headphones and put on a shared playlist or a podcast on spotify . They always bicker about it though because ashlyn skips through songs often and Aiden can’t sit on a podcast unless it’s playing somewhere background ( still working on this one cause would that work ? Sharing headphones and listening to stuff or would that be too loud cause I’m not sure )

He teaches Ben Guitar , Ben teaches him easier ways to draw . Not a babyish style , but just a simplified way to do something without putting too much thought into it .

he and Taylor team up in art projects , but not in class , at home . Ash and Aiden usually partner up in class , and since he and Taylor have seperate classes there , who’s to say they can’t help eachother else where ? Twin telepathy ! ( I think , idk )

Wild to think we’re closer to the end of #Funguary than the beginning. The week of malicious fungi is nearly over, so today’s prompt is the Ophiocordyceps!

These have gotta be one of the most disturbing fungi I’ve ever heard of (but then again, everything in the Cordyceps family is pretty freaky). Ophiocordyceps are a fungus that infects ants and alters their behaviour - basically “zombifying” them; then, when the fungus has finally killed the ant, it digests the carcass and releases its spores to infect other ants. Weird stuff, man, weird stuff - and yet now it almost makes me want to see an ant zombie apocalypse horror film get made (think “A Bug’s Life”, but a little less kid-friendly, lol)!

Fun fact: I was actually inspired to put this girl in a straitjacket after seeing Feefal’s original Cordyceps artwork back in 2022. I dunno, it just seemed pretty fitting - and despite how macabre this art may be, especially what with the dead ants at her feet (I still haven’t decided if they’re oversized or if she’s just really small), I’m really pleased with this piece! If you focus JUST hard enough on this drawing, I’m half-convinced you’ll actually be able to see her twitching and hear her maniacal giggling… :O

January - Fantasy Creature ft. Gay People

Fantasy creature on left for Book Series #2 I Want to Write (coincidentally where the gays come from as well). The fantasy creature is based off of dinosaurs, essentially. Nice and feathery, with actual ears and such. Actually, I developed it from a Picrew played so, shoutout to StaticStray's Monster Picrew.

The gay people are there, and are some of my most beloved right now.

June - Big Birthday Bdragon

Made this for my friend's birthday around the same time I was whipping up my commissions sheet (you can also see it there, and also maybe think about commissioning me for something pretty please?). I designed him (Thundertalon) with the same mentality I do with all my "humans into dragons" drawings: how do I put these aspects of this specific person into a dragon? Favorite color, eye color, spines mimicking hair, and any other general key features are adapted as well as I can into dragon form.

I also made another fullbody dragon the same day because I didn't realize two of my friends had the same birthday until the day of, so needless to say, one of them got more sauce than the other.

November - Maize Birthday Piece

I don't talk enough about my OCs on here, nor show them off. But like, every (other) year, I do a little art for them on the birthday I made up for them. November 4th is the birthday of Maize Bliss. (pronounced "may-zee"; yes I'm sorry, but not enough to change it until forced to at gunpoint). Here's just a random cool shot of her activating her healing powers to fix those internal organs or something. I also used markers on this, and as someone much more familiar with crayons and pencils as art mediums, this was a fun experiment to do.

And that's about it---except for these sillies I made in the middle of animating for something else:

hi, anonymous; thank you -- honestly: there are many people much better than me, and the program itself doesn:t do much to handicap a persons skills, but there are a few nuances that i mostly only found out about via other people;

you can access a wider range of brush sizes by using [ctrl]+[+/-] -- i knew about this in the older versions of mspaint, but i didn:t realize it was ported over into the newer mspaint, however it only seems to work (for me) by using the numpad +/-

mspaint has customizable hotkeys! sort-of; to use them: right-click on any tool-icon in the ui, and add it to your quick-access ribbon, which then assigns it to the corresponding [alt]+[#] macro according to its position on the quick-access ribbon (which is the bar at the very top, next to undo/redo)

mspaint actually supports pressure sensitivity (and tilt too, i think), but only with specific brushes: oil and watercolor (maybe the caligraphic brushes too -- i forget, i don:t use them much)

you can use the shapes with the [marker fill] to imitate opacity overlays -- and in general: using the marker (or natural pencil, or basically any brush) is often better than using the eraser, for the purpose of erasing

this one is sort-of an "anti-tip," but the spray-can tool is sort-of unstable with tablets, i think; for me, there:s a random chance it:ll make my cursor disappear until i close the program, or it:ll cause the ui to mostly become nonfunctional -- i /think/ this has something to do with using the spray-can with black, but i have no idea, it:s jank and even has "hot spots" of where it:ll output color.

~that:s mostly everything that comes to mind; there:s the shift+drag thing but everyone knows about that (@nazar0199 on twitter uses it to really amazing textural effect; some other mspaint artist shout-outs: @pangchiucowboy/@nailgunwaowao uses canvas size really amazingly (this is something else i didn:t mention, but experiment with working at different zoom levels and massive/small canvas sizes); @henriettasdfkj doesn:t always use mspaint but does occasionally and does really fun rendering with the crayon/marker/pencil brushes).

Not sure what ya mean on 'social' but I do have drawing tips!

-Practice! This is probably the tip you will hear from ANY and EVERY artist, but it really is true. You will not improve if you do not practice. When I say 'practice' what I mean is this: Draw as much as you can when you can. If you only draw for 5-minutes once a month, you're not going to improve like someone who draws daily. How much and often you practice will also be determined by your lifestyle. Work, school, social life, other hobbies ect are important as well, so remember your balance. Also, PLEASE use references. No, using references is not and will never be cheating. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of it. Also, draw as much variety as you can as well. Always be willing to work out of your comfort zone, but also don't feel as though you have to force yourself to draw things you don't want to all the time. Balance. When practicing, utilize tutorials that you can find literally everywhere and try watching speedpaints/draws. They help me a lot!

-Learn your anatomy! Your art will improve so much quicker when you take time to learn anatomy. For some, learning anatomy in art is fun while for others, it's a bit of a drag. However, it's super important. Once you know your anatomy, you can push things in terms or art style because as the saying goes 'You have to know the rules to break them'. So before you go all cartoony and wobbly with your anatomy for a style, try to know the actual anatomy first. it helps!

-Artist > Tools! No, you don't need an expensive tablet or art program or marker set or brush set ect, ect. The tools do not make the art, the artist does. Yes, tools can make things easier and can be fun to experiment with and eventually everyone finds what they prefer more, but the more expensive your art equipment is doesn't mean that your work will turn out better. If you're a beginner artist, play with cheap mediums first. Crayola crayons and MS Paint can still make art. Only put money into supplies, tools, and programs that you know you will utilize to its worth. If you're brand-new to digital art, for example, don't go looking into a tablet that costs hundreds of dollars. I started digital art with Gimp (a free art program) and my computer mouse. I've used a mouse longer than I've used my tablet so far and even though I've traded in my mouse days for my tablet, I was still able to make some good art with the mouse.

-Get Inspired By Others, But Don't Compare! Every artist, big and small has looked at someone else's work and told themselves "Why can't I draw like that? My work isn't as good as theirs.". This is a good way to put yourself down and to take the fun out of your art along with turning a blind eye to the progress you have actually made. Instead, look at other people's work and inspire yourself. What about their work do you like? Is there any technique that they do that you can try out? Break down how they put their art together and maybe you can learn from it. Of course, never copy a person's artwork or directly steal, but take away inspiration. Do you like how they do facial expressions? Do you like they way they do anatomy? Do you like how their lineart looks? Do you like how they color? What about someone else's art do you love, and take inspiration. Take it from multiple sources and you'll find all sorts of unique ways people make art that you can try out for yourself!

-KEEP YOUR OLD ART! Especially if you're a beginner at art, this is important. It's super easy to look at your art and go 'ew', before deleting it or throwing it in the trash. Don't do that. Your future self will thank you for hanging onto all of your old art so you can go back and see just how much you've truly improved. Also, it's fun to go back and redraw old art!

hey what brush do you use to draw in digital and traditional (if that doesn't bother you!💦)

No worries! I don't mind. :3 The answer isn't so interesting though ww

I just use the pencil tool in MS Paint & the binary tool in SAI 2. Default settings. Most of my art is done this way. I often sketch in MS Paint, and complete in SAI.

I find it's easier to work within the simplicity of MS Paint, but I do like SAI's features, and sometimes I need the flexibility of pressure sensitivity to really chip away at my thoughts... I find myself relying on it more recently, as I got into JSHK. Human characters aren't actually my forte, and it takes many passes for me to get something legible... Trying to mimic Aida-sensei's ability to render clothes is also breakin' my back lol.

Oh um ... Hm, I draw in my phone notes more often recently as well, so that's the only other variable at times. If you see something like this:

It's just me using the notes app on my samsung galaxy. I use it to jot down ideas for future me. Or... sometimes I'm just passing time. Nothing special about it, I would say, aside from the fact that it's more robust than the previous phone notes app I would draw on. I was fingerpainting back then, but now I have a stylus.

Edit: Wait I feel like an idiot for saying all this and literally posting a piece I made in CSP... SORRY!! My brain is small. That's what I use to animate as well!! !!! Sorry, I just use it once in a blue moon...

On CSP, the brush I like the most has been this one.

As for traditional, I use an assortment of things! It's a split between mundane art supplies (dollar store mechanical pencils, ball point pens, etc.) and some fancier stuff I've been gifted. Currently I have a set of prismas and a couple of ohuhus I use for commission work often. I also have some faber castell brush pens. I prefer inking pens with a flat tip, basically I disprefer fine points/microns etc. (I... um, have a bit of a harsh grip, so I'm prone to crushing them...) My traditional stuff varies a lot more so I'll just paste examples directly. For fun!

Overall, I like having an assortment of things to grab and mess around with, for different moods. If you're at all seeking for a similar experience, I recommend playing with whatever odds and ends you got in your possession. It's not really a matter of skill... imo, cuz, I don't really feel as though I use anything very 'well', I just use it. Perhaps all equally sloppy, and for fun. Just have fun. ╮(╯▽╰)╭

2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even): i dont mind either way, but i default to drawing peple facing my left, 3/4 and all that. idk if its easier tho, its just what i do instinctually xd

An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken: i have several brushes that have been brutalized, a few times ive broken very thin fineliners (expensive ones too) and felt bad about it for years, plus i have a tendency to break pastels/pencils/crayons sometimes, cuz i press too hard or hold them too tight lol. also i once broke a marker tip. actually probably more than once.

21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways: i love simple cartoony styles, especially ones with cool, exaggerated shapes, but i also love semi-realistic, detailed styles, thus my art ends up in this weird in-between state where i commit to neither :')

Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by: anime. so many people (especially art teachers) say its anime. and like. at one point as a kid i did try to draw in an "anime" style but this was pretty recent. i remember one instance four years ago and once literally last month. luckly it wasnt said in a "kids these days" way or "dont draw like that" way, it was just like, an acknowledgement. maybe theyre right tho lmao.

26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended:

okay this is a bit long, but in my 3rd year of art high school i had the principal as my design teacher for a year (the horror). she's this older lady and tho she acted nice for the most part, she could be rly mean (to this day idk if she said certain things on purpose to make us feel bad, or if she legit didnt know how degrading it sounded). she would often read into every little thing about a piece when it really wasnt that deep. or she would read into it and miss the point and come up with some other, out-there interpretation. she also liked to mention plagarism (asking us if we came up with everything ourselves and whatnot) and she would come up with some wild metaphors and symbols that were not really there. for example once she said that a window i drew made her think of imprisonment, because it looked like the bars of a cell, i guess. so this one time for an assigment i made a piece with four characters representing different emotions (happy, sad, angry and apathetic) and they all had colors assigned (yellow, blue, red and gray). it was only their heads visible and they had no real distinguishing features, just the planes of their face and a mouth to indicate a facial expression. i thought it was pretty straightforward, thought she would say it wasnt rly complex enough as a concept. like you know, emotions are a very simple idea and the colors were pretty basic, "blue for sad" is not exactly innovative. so anyway, she said it really made her think and might be interpreted as racist. didnt even pick up on the "emotions as colors" side of it all, despite it being the only real meaning i intended. she was fun, but only in retrospect.

But the others mostly assured her she was just seeing things.

"My my my!" Caine gasped as they entered into a clear space of tables & craft supplies, eyes shooting out of his teeth closer to the art on the wall. Shortly, his body followed suit & rushed forward, catching up to his eyes. He smiled -- or as best he could, with his whole head being a set of chompers. "This is WONDERFUL, Crayon! I think you've got my visage down quite nicely! & look at you, Gangle! Didn't Crayon do a fantastic job?"

Gangle slowly made her way closer, not zooming in as Caine had. Her mask blinked as she looked from Crayon, to Caine, to the art on the wall. To the art of her, specifically. As she walked a little closer, ribbons hands pressed to the sides of her mask. "You really made these? For us?"

What's cool about the Real Life Lore YouTube channel is, by far, the ... LORE! Featuring titles such as What's the Deepest Hole We Can Possible Dig? This channel is chock full of subject matter based topics that are arranged in way that makes what could be somewhat dry content (digging holes ... huh?) really engaging for elementary aged homeschoolers and up. Filled with science and history/social studies heavy themes, from comprehension questions, essays, drawings, map quests, experiments, and more, your learner can successfully interact with this content in so many ways and have fun doing it.

i want to draw with bregg

just give him some paper & some markers or crayons and have fun!

Unfortunately, Breg is more likely to break crayons with the way he clutches them than he is to make a decent drawing. He does surprisingly have a good grasp on how to blend colors nicely, it's just that if you ask him to draw a person Breg will completely miss the mark.

Whatever you draw, the breeder will ask to keep it. Even if he ends up with a giant stack of papers, he wants them all. He'll most likely ask you to draw the two of you together.

One way to make Breg really happy is to draw on him actually. The dude is like a white canvas anyway, go nuts. He likes having you so close, feeling the way you're marking his skin, that tail will be wagging the entire time. The breeder might refuse to shower afterwards, you'll have to drag his ass to the tub.

ooo i will mess up an order slightly if you dont mind

16 favorite media to work with when drawing traditionally im a simple kind of guy and i usually draw with pen straight without a sketch. sometimes i go with markers and ink or even dare to use gouache or watercolors, but like once a year. for colored stuff i usually go with crayons from a fix price store lmao

22 what inspires you id say the reality i live in plus academic art plus some illustrators and manga artists. like i mostly draw flora and general surroundings based on where i live (and use my own photos as a references from time to time). about art i actually have a little hobby of visiting art museums in different places (esp contemporary art ones), they're always interesting, very different and really fun. talking about manga/anime art i was heavily influenced by tsuruta kenji, murata range, yoshitoshi abe, yoshiyuki sadamoto, akio watanabe and horikoshi kohei (and much more but those are who i can name on the spot).
