Can we have a small little list of everyone’s roles/parts in the circus? (My peanut brain is getting a little lost)

i did a poll on the gem and pearl post on whether or not i should release a full list, and guess which option won!

the results came out really close, so if you want to wait for the comics to drop, i advise you to simply ✨look away✨

this list is going to be formatted as: Name - Circus Act/Role - Power

some will be on this list without their powers, or with ambiguous descriptions of their powers until i finish their backstory comics because i really do want those ones to be a surprise, so look out for the update!

some of them i am still on the fence about as well, so the comic may not always line up with this list in the future, but i'll do my best to keep it up to date.

ren - $the funding$ - none he's just rich (some form of smaller nobility)

The Performers

cleo - knife thrower - doesn't have magic, but alive somehow??? (hint: it has something to do with bdubs...)

etho - magician - has magic but hates using it (rumor has it that only bdubs knows what he's hiding)

bdubs - doubles as knife thrower and magician's assistant - something to do with time. no one knows exactly what, but sometimes he disappears for weeks on end. scar usually steps in as the replacement.

jimmy - aerial acrobat - wings/flight

grian - aerial acrobat - same as jimmy, but sometimes scar says his vision is uncanny

scar - ringmaster - jedi mind trick (he can convince anyone of anything depending on how strong their mind is)

lizzie - underwater escape artist - don't tell anyone, but she can definitely breathe underwater. the escapes are still pretty impressive tho

joel - stilts (11 foot joel is canon) - no power, he's just lizzie's supportive husband (more kenergy than jimmy)

gem - happy clown - deer traits, mostly enhanced agility

pearl - sad clown - doesn't like elaborating, but she disappears during full moons...

scott - tightrope walker - read the comic when it comes out lmao

impulse - juggler - power still very much in development, but he can talk to/see/control ghosts to a degree (inspired by the phasmo streams)

skizz - strongman - enhanced healing

tango - fire breather - literally breathes fire. very high internal temperature, good for winters.

The Production Team

mumbo - lighting (it's still the late 1800s-ish so the lighting is very rudimentary- that said, mumbo is a bit of a genius, so the shows still look pretty amazing) - is almost an unlimited source of electricity (he's a little eccentric, makes a big deal about how much of a human he is, which has sparked curiosity, but never enough for anyone to pry into. grian seems to know something.)

bigb- concessions (he sells cookies!) - everything he bakes tastes amazing! (he swears that's his only power, but he has a habit of leaving rooms through doors that weren't there before...)

pearl (again) - sets and props, she decorates the stage!

joel (again) - makes the boxes and tanks for lizzie to escape from

and that is all! i might have some hermits or empires folks make cameos every so often, but this is the main cast!

Note: I write most of my characters in modern settings, so this won’t be any different. I may write about him in POTC in the future but that’s something I need to chop up. Also first time writing a headcannon, this was fun making, I'm looking forward to doing some more for Will/Legolas/Orlando.

Build a bear has nothing on Will’s craftsmanship, he made a lifesize teddy for you to cuddle when he’s not around. He’ll even order parts for his creations from overseas, no matter the price tag, to give you the perfect gift.

—- Adding onto how crafty he is, you never have to worry about breaking anything because Will is always happy to fix it for you and he always does so, effortlessly. He’s tactile and amazing with his hands.

—- He knocked down a wall in his house between his office and guest bedroom, renovated the room, painted the walls your favorite colors and furnished it with all your favourite things including a wall hung TV, neon lights, a pink desktop and plants. Just so you can have your own space when you’re at his house. He wants you to feel like his home is yours too.

—- He loves going to IKEA with you, it’s like a playground for him to find things to build for you and your room. When you get Hotdogs in the food court with him later and get mustard on your face, he’ll grab you by the chin and lick the sauce off. Anytime you get food on your face, he does this. Why wipe it off when he can just clean it off you?

—- Will’s intelligence is unlike anyone you’ve met before, but when he’s not using his head, he’s a bit of a himbo, giving off strong Kenergy. He might know how to solve enigmatic riddles quickly and build houses from scratch but he’s clueless when it comes to most general things. He’ll always regard you as the smarter one in the relationship. In his mind you’re everything and he’s just Will. He adores you that much.

—- He has a tattoo of your name and a blue butterfly next to it on his hip bone. This man is whipped. Gone and lost in your love. He’s considering getting your initials tattooed behind his ear.

—-  Will’s independent by nature but gosh, he is one needy motherfucker, but in the most adorable way. He’s coming with you to run errands to the beauty store, late night Target trips or waiting in the corner of the salon while you get your nails done. And he’s always paying, he never lets your credit card touch the reader.

—- Will can listen to you talk for hours about your life and yourself. He finds everything about you whimsical, enchanting and seductive. Even if you’re babbling about delusions and made up scenarios, he’ll react with big emotions like it’s happening right in the moment just because he loves you that much.

—- Will collects records that you love listening to. He says, “The record is always better than streaming it.”

—- Will use to only listen to symphonies and classical music before you came into his life. Now, he listens to everything you listen to. He’s fallen in love with Neo-soul and R&B and refuses to listen to anything else.

—- His favorite song is “Stay Ready (What A Life) by Jhene Aiko and forever dedicates that tune to you. Whenever the song plays, he always sings to you, “They say the truth ain't pretty. But comin’ out that pretty mouth the truth is fitting. Cuz you ain't never talkin loud and you know plenty. Yea you know what I'm talkin bout, cuz you just get me, Yea you so pretty”, And he means every word of it. That song was written just for you, he believes.

—- Even though you and Will are just dating and don’t have kids, he always refers to you as “His wife” or “Mother of my children”

—- Will’s favorite part of being intimate with you is undressing you. There’s something about seeing you come undone only and all for him, that makes him want to be closer to you, underneath your skin even.

You can find him at clubs, bars and music festivals, right behind you, jamming out and spreading the good vibes. He’s even buying you and your girls rounds of bottomless cocktails at brunch.

—- Will’s a fencing prodigy, of course. He also practices MMA. His strength, determination and will is unmatched. You love sitting in the audience of his matches when he’s given trophies, standing the breathless, T-shirtless and sweaty, dressed in his little fitted shorts showing all his business, knowing that’s all yours.

Summary and warnings: a few headcanons of Ken being supportive when you’re in need of comfort. It’s Ken, so that does sometimes cross over into him being a little... obsessive. Also, I’ve tried to leave this ambiguous as to the time and setting so it’s up to how you want to read it! Includes mentions of kisses.

He tries SO hard when he knows you've had a bad day because he can't stand the thought of you feeling anything other than as perfect as he thinks you are

Will give you space but is never far away, usually watching from a distance just incase you need something he can provide

He’s so soft and gentle with you, brushing your hair while he tells you all the things he loves most about you to give you a boost

The list of compliments is long and far from exhaustive; he rarely gives you the same compliment twice and never runs out of new ones

Truly excellent at pep talks if you need one

Holds your face in his palms and looks deep into your eyes to tell you some variation of how sublime or brave or wonderful or kind you are, hoping you’ll believe him and trying to send some positive Kenergy straight to you via his intense gaze

‘Would you like to go for a walk? You can hold my hand…’

Of course, he walks you to the beach (after taking a moment to compose himself at the hand holding) to watch the sunset together

If you squeeze his hand he giggles or let’s out a delighted little ‘Ooh!’

After finding the perfect place to sit together on the sand, he lights a little fire to get cosy beside, smiling at you all the while, and asks, ‘Do you want to talk about it? Or you can just rest with me if that’s what you need?’

Either way, it ends with you laid together on the sand with you resting on his chest, listening to the soothing sounds of his heartbeat and steady breathing

You feel so safe and content with his strong arms wrapped around your shoulders and his fingers playing lovingly with your hair

There’s no rush. He’s content for you to remain silent or take all the time you need in talking to him. He really has all the time in the world for you

It makes his heart race a little to be so close with you, but he contains the feelings it stirs within him so that he can focus entirely on you

Does give you tender little kisses at least every five minutes though, just to remind you how wanted you are

He’s such a good listener. He usually hangs on your every word, but at times like these, it's not just that. When you need him, he is so supportive and always surprises you with new perspectives on whatever is bothering you

If you tell Ken a secret he will guard that secret with his life (but he may flex on some other Kens that you confide in him. He would be really proud of that)

When you begin to feel tired, he will walk you back home, eagerly offering his hand again. He always hopes you’ll invite him inside and to sleep over, but his main priority tonight is helping you feel yourself again

‘Would you like me to come in and read to you?’

He doesn’t so much read as look at pictures with you and excitedly read out the bits he thinks are most exciting, but his heart is in the right place and it warms yours to know that he wants to spend his free time making you feel better and not just vying for your attention

Makes you tea and tucks you in even if he’s not staying over, with one final kiss to your forehead before he departs

Literally does not sleep. Worries all night that you might not have sweet dreams or will wake feeling anything other than great

In the books him being more rakish was believable because it was set 10 years later.

Book Club: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

the stars aligned (I was a minute too late to sleep for the day on Pokemon Sleep) so I finished reading Project Hail Mary and holy shit

High points: aliens!!!!!! so much aliens so many aliens so many so many so many aliens. Rocky (the alien) is so fun too goddamn

Low points: Not into the amnesia bit (it felt too deus ex machina to me), kind of a melancholy ending

I am honestly so blown away by the aliens? like holy shit the aliens. just holy shit. aliens. I think Weir just does such a good job and it (as a science un-knower) it felt so believable to me. I love Rocky to bits and his language was also mindblowing to me?? I think that's the part of me that thinks linguistics is so interesting but I seriously could not imagine what an alien could be like (actually, before Rocky appeared on screen, I even thought the alien might look just like a human) much less think about how they could communicate. My mind was blown LOL

There were two major points where my heart absolutely DROPPED and honestly I feel like that says something about this surely? I'm tired af but I was still shook y'know? I'm literally scared of taumoebas lmfao and the way they're described as smelling gross and feeling greasy... ew!! I hate it I'm so glad I do not exist in a world where I know about real taumobeas :))))

My complaint about the amnesia is really just about how convenient it was. It was a good twist that I didn't see coming but I was also kind of like is this really possible with modern technology lmao? I guess who knows what kind of stuff the government has kept in secret but it was a little hard to just read it and be like oh yeah that seems legit.

I also feel like some of the side/supporting characters were a bit too much of a caricature, I guess? Especially DuBois (the sex discussion scene with Dr. Shapiro was SO weird) because I feel like it was framed as like, he is seriously legitimately this kind of guy and he's not playing it off as a joke, which I could have been amused by. I also wish Stratta had like... a little bit more development, I guess? She was giving me girlboss gaslight take no prisoners and I liked that she was strong and tough and would do anything to give humanity a chance to succeed, but sometimes she also seemed a bit like... a micromanager? Comparing this to The Martian (which I seriously love), I think that these characters had more defining traits but in the flanderization kind of way rather than actually being more developed.

The last thing I disliked was the ending :( it was actually a good ending lol but I felt a little sad because I wanted to see more of what happened to the Earth people and I kind of wanted Grace to go home too. On the other hand, he really did not have much attachment there and I felt like with their plans Earth would probably be okay, so it really was a good ending! but I am just an earthling attached to earth so I'm still sad anyways lol

Okay wait one more thing that I know wouldn't have made sense to have in the narrative: I wish we knew what happened to Yao and Ilyukhina on the way there. I remember there was a mention of the autofeeding thing possibly malfunctioning or something but they were going to stick backups because they were light? Actually my first theory was like an allergic reaction or something or like some machine malfunction, but I guess I'll never know. I felt sad when Grace dressed them and sent them out into space.

last note: Ryan Gosling is apparently going to be Grace in the movie adaptation??? But the cited article is from 2021 so... well hey if it happens I'll go see it I love his kenergy

I have read a couple of times now that Pascal is a kitten, but I don't see it. Pascal, Nico and Daniel all give me Puppy/Doggo fibes. They all are a different breed, but they all have dog energy. 🐶

It's finally happened. I vowed never to multi-stan for kpop groups but here I am, adding Ateez to my kpop obsession. The coachella set got me guys. How can I resist this?

I love it when music suddenly unlocks in my brain. It's like in The Matrix when Neo's brain uploads and he's like 'I know kung fu'. I know Ateez! The drama, the lush soundscapes, the theatrics. Wake Up was the key. It's strange, alluring and sensual all at once (and I've seen their concert footage with the blindfolds which helped *ahem*). Inception is a gorgeous love song. It's got that epic, running down the corridors to find you, yearning vocal. I also adore Turbulence for its dramatic build up as well. Their ballads are fantastic and quite underrated.

Their vibe is more mature and dark which I appreciate. The visuals are poppin', the vocals are strong, the dancing... omg, the dancing is out of this world. I never realised how slick they were but they all dance so well.

The fan service is serving and it's delicious. I love Yungi and Woosan. I don't have a bias yet because frankly I'm greedy! Hongjoong is so, so pretty. Mingi has major kenergy and I love that for him. San's dancing has me by the throat. Yunho is one tall drink of water. Honestly, they all have great qualities and I'm interested to see where they go musically. I feel like a lot of groups are shifting in one way or another and the trend seems to be for something softer, cosier, uplifting.

I guess I'm an staytiny now. Is it a coincidence that I've cooled on Skz? I'm resisting the Charlie Puth collab even I like the song damnit. I refuse to enrich Zionists and there's an Israeli producer on it. For me it's a cultural boycott and I stand by it. I just want this promo to be over.

Go and watch Barbie!

I watched Barbie yesterday in a preview. Was super happy to see a sold out theatre and many women dressing up in shades of pink! That’s the way to go!

I loved the movie! I laughed a lot but it’s also hitting a lot of emotional beats incredibly well and I was a bit teary-eyed towards the end.

The actors are indeed sublime! Margot Robbie is Barbie, she’s truly perfect for the role and gives an amazing, genuine performance. Ryan Gosling steals the show a bit because his Ken is just so OTT in everything he does, the himbo Kenergy is strong in this one! Both their characters go through their own arcs, which I didn’t expect to this extent and am quite pleased with.

Stand outs in the supporting cast were America Ferrera (who gives a roaring speech halfway through the movie that made part of my audience actually clap), Issa Rae as president Barbie, Simu Liu as Ken’s rival Ken, and Michael Cera as Allan.

Production and costume design are gorgeous, music is used in super fun ways, Ken’s song scene is actually quite a bit longer and a true masterpiece, and it has a really good message.

This movie is feminist and political in the best way, though I wouldn’t call it radical by any means – it takes digs at everyone and I’m actually pretty sure I missed a lot of little background gags and the like. I do have some minor nitpicks, but they didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the movie at all.

Wow, this book was absolutely amazing, the characters, the plot twist, the whole book was so well written. This was EXACTLY my type of book and it ticked all the boxes:

handsome, serious, sassy, smart man with parental issues and is bad at hiding crushes and thinks he’s better than Eve ☑️

a well written strong female lead that isn’t a bitch ☑️

a twist on a actual thing that happened in history ☑️

and an amazing plot twist that I did not see coming ☑️

ok so firstly I’m going to talk about Thomas cresswell because I have so much to say about this man, firstly I love love love loved his character Kerri maniscalco never disappoints with the men, Cresswell was written with the perfect amount of sass and seriousness to make him so sexy. Secondly we love a supportive man and no one is more supportive than mr Thomas cresswell, I swear he didn’t even try to hide the fact he was in love with Audrey rose, it may as well have been written on his forehead. He also gives kenergy

Next up we have our amazing anti-smoking queen Audrey Rose Wandsworth, this woman seriously wanted to get herself killed and I loved it, she was smart and brave without feeling the need to be loud and bitchy which (don’t get me wrong I still loved Emilia ) I found to not really like with Emilias character in kingdom of the wicked, her chemistry with Thomas was absolutely amazing, for anyone who hasn’t read the book and plans on it here’s what you should be expecting from these two:

Audrey: stfu you unfairly handsome man, I hate you get away from me with your lung cancer core shit.

My thoughts on Barbie

Ok so firstly, INCREDIBLE FILM

• As someone who adores all that is pink, this film was a joy to look at for two hours.

• Weird Barbie is incredible, I want her to be my auntie.

• a little disappointed that they didn’t reference any of the movies tho. A little princess and the pauper or island princess moment would have been nice for those of us who grew up on that shit.

• Also I know it was supposed to be emotional, but during Gloria��s(America Ferrera) big speech, all I could focus on was how good her hair looked

• Simu Liu is amazing, the kenergy is STRONG

• that dance number was so queer coded im sorry.

• I’m waiting for Ryan!Ken and Simu!Ken to fall in love, we need that enemies to lovers.

•ok on to more serious stuff, so spoilers ahead

•firstly, it is a movie that needs to be entertaining and of reasonable length, so they could never have covered everything.

• I personally would have loved to see a little more emphasis on equality between the Kens and Barbies. I know they imply and hint that it will be more equal in Barbieland eventually, but it would have been nice to see it more explicitly put.

• maybe something about how feminism isn’t the superiority of women, but the equality between genders. I know that was the whole point of the film, but maybe it needs to be said a little louder for the ppl in the back.

• I watched it with my mother, and she mentioned that she didn’t love that they took down Kendom through manipulation. I agree for the most part, but I think it would have worked if they put in a joke or something like that where one of the Barbies suggests compromise and conversation with the Kens, but either Gloria or Sasha says that the Kens won’t listen. At least then it would be addressed that manipulation is a last resort as opposed to diplomacy.

• And of course, Greta Gerwig still did and incredible job. You can’t have everything, especially in a feature length film.
