Side note: I was bored and i’m obsessed with this ship so I had to. This is the shittiest thing i’ve ever read in my life. I actually cried while rereading. Also I don’t remember Knox’s personality AT ALL expect that he was grumpy, so if i got something wrong let me know. Feel free to give feedback.💋

Summary: For 4 months they’ve been circling around eachother like it means nothing. Until it does. Alisa Ortega is used to calling the shots. Even if she’ll end up breaking her own heart. But Knox doesn’t feel like playing pretend anymore..

Alisa is always in control. She had to be. Even when it costs her everything. But she feels her control slipping and she wasn’t ready to admit it.

They’re in her apartment, late. She’s on her laptop, sitting on the couch going over a report that Grayson sent earlier. When Knox breaks the silence “You ever turn it off?”

“Turn what off?” She asked without looking away from her laptop.

“This act you always do. This whole ‘nothing ever affects me’ stuff.”

She look up at him, annoyed. “I have work to do.”

“That’s not an answer.”

She rolls her eyes and decides this doesn’t merit a response, she looks back at her screen.

But Knox wasn’t backing down, this had been him bothering for a while.

“It’s funny how fast you can switch it off. How fast you can act that we’re strangers the moment it gets too much.”

“I don’t think you’re a stranger, Knox. You know that. I don’t see the point of this conversation.”

“Then what am I to you?” He demanded.

She sighs, “You knew how it’s going to be when we first started this. We said it wasn’t going to-“

“We didn’t say anything.” He cuts in. “You decided. And assumed I’m okay with it.”

She closes her laptop and stands up. “Are you serious? We’ve been like this for 4 months, and now you’re telling me you don’t like it? I told you. I was clear from the start, you stayed anyway. Don’t blame this on me.”

“There’s always something with you. You always have to be in control. The idea of the unknown terrifies you. You’re too scared to want something real.”

She shakes her head, “That’s not fair.”

“No what isn’t fair is you being able to sleep with me yet you can’t look me in the eye the next day. You can’t kiss me like this is real one second and the other you say you want to slow down. Because god forbid this gets too serious for you.”

She opens her mouth. Closes it.

He waits for her to say something. When she doesn‘t, “Right. Okay.” He says his voice quiet.

He turns and leaves the apartment, the door clicking shut behind him.

She stood rooted to her place wondering what the hell happened. She wouldn’t let herself cry. This is what she had wanted; space. A tear fell that she quickly wiped away, frustrated. She went to her room, and then buried herself in work that she didn’t have to do today, but anything to stop her from overthinking what she just did.

The next day, she just finished a long day of work at hawthorne foundation. When she gets into her car she opens the chat between her and Knox. She hesitates, deleting her message multiple times. She was worried he’d gotten into fights or that he was drinking. Finally deciding on what to say finally she sends “Can we talk?”

Knox got the message, he thought about not replying but changed his mind and sent her his location, “If you show up, I won’t pretend I don’t want answers.”

She finds him in the booth near the back of the bar, she walks over, her heels clicking on the floor. He looks at her but he doesn’t move just takes a sip from his drink. She hesitates then sits. She glances at his hands, seeing his knuckles cracked but she couldn’t see any other injury.

After a minute or two of no one talking, “Thanks for coming.” She says unsure of what else to say.

“I was planning to be here anyway.” He says flatly.

She nods, of course. She looks at the table in front of her not knowing where to start.

“You said you wanted to talk,” He says. “So talk.”

“I didn’t handle yesterday well. Or whatever is going on between us.” She says evenly.

He laughs bitterly, “Which part?? The part where you acted like it wasn’t real? Or the part where you made me believe it??”

She flinches, “Fair enough. But I need you to know that this is was real. Some part of me hoped it wasn’t.”

“You made that obvious.” He says running his fingers through his hair.

“I didn’t mean for my actions to do this. To hurt you like that.”

“No.” He snaps. “You meant it exactly like that. You didn’t want this to matter, not enough to risk anything.”

“Because everything in my life has consequences. I don’t take risks Knox, and you-“

She stops then starts again “You make me forget that.”

He leans forward. “Why is that a bad thing? What’s stopping you from letting go?”

“Because I don’t know how to need you and let you in without losing myself. I didn’t plan for this to matter. I thought this was temporary.”

He clenches his jaw. “You know it’s not. You don’t get to decide that, Alisa. If this doesn’t work it’s on both of us.”

She exhales slowly. “I don’t know how to be good at this,Knox. I don’t want to push you away just because i’m afraid it won’t last.”

“I wasn’t asking for perfect. I’m just asking for something real.” He says gently.

They hold eye contact and then Knox stands up, finishes his drink in one gulp and throws bills on the table. “Come on.” He says offering her his hand, she takes it and he pulls her up.

They leave the bar in silence, walking side by side down the side walk towards Alisa’s car. Their hands brush multiple times until she reaches out and takes his. He hold her hand without saying anything.

When they reach the car she unlocks the door but doesn’t get in, instead she turns to him.

“Did you drink much tonight?”

He raises his eyebrows. “Why? You planning to drive me home, Ortega?”

She shrugs. “Just asking if i should be worried.”

He gives her a half smile. “I only had one drink. I’m fine.”

She hesitated then looks at him. There’s something odd about her expression like she’s deciding whether to say something or not.

“Do you want to come back to mine?” She asks quietly.

He studies her face. Searching for the usual out. Or regret. He finds none. Not this time. So he nods once. “Yeah. I do.”

I genuinely hate this. Idek why i’m posting it? Anyway if you saw any spelling mistakes no you didn’t🥰

alr i have something to confess: i didn’t like savanah and gigi during the brothers hawthorne (ik ik 😔)

HOWEVER

after reading tgg and gr i have to say that they are my favorite people to come out of the new trilogy so far (besides king Rohan ofc which is basically Savannah)

but i feel like jlb wrote them as such complex characters and she did such a good job with them. Gigi is the sunshine character but she also has a lot of emotional depth that i wanted to see more with Xander. Savannah has so much going on that makes her such an interesting person in the book because her choices aren’t so black and white and predictable. Both of the sisters aren’t cookie cutter set in a specific way and that’s what i enjoy reading. i’m so glad that jlb gave them history with their dad and mom and problems that they deal with on their owns and not just a love interest and a few plot points.

idk if this is really making sense but i really love their relationship and how they feel so real on paper. like thier love for each other and they way they talk to (and about) each other feels so genuine.

ok that’s all i js wanted to say how much i loved them 😭

prepare yourself people, I think there will be two more kidnaps in our future, and those will be... drumroll please... savannah and lyra!!! Why you may ask? In one of the pictures that brady had, there was a message that said one out of three (and we know, there is always three), and then avery got kidnapped, so I think there are two more people needed. It is fair to think that only the girls will be kidnapped (cause idk it fits the whole cult thingy), and which people are going to cause a greater disaster in the overall povs, only lyra and savannah (so that rohan gives up the mercy please)

So, okay I was rereading some parts of gr and maybe just maybe alice is not the villian we think she is.

Spoilers ahead

So I was analyzing all of the situations that happened in gr and what called my attention the most was calla's insistance to know about lyra and what she knew.

It is like lyra and what she knew were the key for something. We know eve tells calla what lyra asked about, and once she got that information she smiled and left, those pieces of information were exactly what she needed.

After that Zella appears and she asks the information they gave to calla, gigi tells her that she was asking about lyra and that eve basically threw lyra under the bus to which zella said the following:

Zella mentions that the information eve gave calla would give her an ammunition, as in proof or evidence for something.

So, this is where my theory starts, what if calla needed to know about lyra because she wants to take over Alice's place? We know that Alice was there when Thomas died, we also know lyra wasn't supposed to be there. Alice even says:

"You poor thing. You should not be here. But who is to say you were?"

I think Alice was supposed to tell the judge that she found lyra there, so she could decide lyra's fate. We have to consider the fact that alice is the hand, I think she makes sure the judge's veredict is followed. So she was there to make sure Thomas would die, but lyra was not part of the plan, and maybe, just maybe, Alice's maternal instincts kicked in and decided to spare her from the judge's posible veredict (which we can only asume it wouldn't be good) and decided to drug her, so she wouldn't remember anything. Overall, alice protected lyra from someone else (maybe grandmum isn't that bad).

The problem is that eventually Lyra remembered, and maybe that puts alice's place as the hand in risk. Calla knows that, that would be why she needs lyra, so she can prove that alice is not to be trusted and therefore get her place. Let's remember that Zella said that Calla was ambitious, and from what I can remember from gu and tgg she was the one who marked both jameson and knox not alice. Alice warned Jameson, but she wasn't the one who hurt him that was all calla. Alice only issued a sort of order, part of me thinks it did not even come from her, but from the monacero just like with the fire.

From my pov, both the watcher and the hand respond to the monacero. If one of them fails to their orders, they would find themselves just like everyone else who is a threat. Technically alice protecting lyra risked their organization/cult which would make her an unreliable hand and member.

So, maybe the reason why lyra is so important is because she is the proof of alice's mistakes, and she would be the collateral damage for calla to get what she wants??
