I was curious: are Rupert Price/Prince and Charles/Chester still in your space jail? Have you talked to Charster at all?

I've been talking to Charles a lot lately. Mostly him teasing me about my not-crush on Dave and such... I don't think he understand how I uh... feel... about him... I mean he's cute but... yeah...

As for Robert, I don't think he's gonna crack just yet, but apparently the chief's been talking to him a lot lately. It's very rare for him to go down and talk to the prisoners, so I'm wondering what the fuss is about.

But yeah, I think Charles is pretty much ready to be a Toppat. He seemed pretty tired of the government as it was. Going on about some injury and some other stuff that I didn't really pay attention to. I just hope he doesn't join me in comms.

That's the last thing I need.

I love how it appears that Tommy is the grounded, well-adjusted foil to Buck's devil-may-care adrenaline junkie, but I also have to remind myself that Tommy was the guy who was asked to steal a helicopter and fly it into a category 5 hurricane on a hunch, and he was like, "yeah, cool, let's go."

Buck probably thinks Tommy's a rational, responsible adult, because he's so considerate and he owns a house and he's so methodical when he takes Buck apart in bed and he's got a 401k and a Roth IRA account. The helicopter heist flight was definitely an outlier.

But eventually he learns the truth: Tommy's batshit insane.

Like, they're hanging in bed one morning and Buck's on his phone trying to solve the math riddle Hen sent him, and he laments the loss of his lightning-enhanced skills. And Tommy, turning the page on the WWI biography he's reading, absently says, "At least you got them. All I got was 30% hearing loss in my left ear."

Buck slowly lowers his phone and demands an explanation, and Tommy, still focused on his book, tells him about when he was struck by lightning. Both times. The second time he was in the middle of a hoist and winch rescue trying to get to the captain of a sunk fishing boat in the middle of open ocean during a storm. Tommy holds his place in his book with his thumb and shows Buck the picture Lucy took of his Lichtenberg burn—it spans the entirety of his back and goes halfway down his arms. Buck stares at it, stunned, then takes the phone and book out of Tommy's hands, tosses them on the floor, and proceeds to suck Tommy's brain out through his dick.

The first time Buck goes to see Tommy at Harbor, Tommy is still en route back from a call, so Buck gets to talking to two people named Nico and Dana who've worked with Tommy since he arrived. Buck sheepishly apologizes for putting Tommy in such a dangerous position with the hurricane.

Nico and Dana look at each other and snort. Nico puts his hand on Buck's shoulder and is like, "Dude, that is not the craziest thing Kinard's ever done. That's not the craziest thing he's done this year."

They tell him about his legendary but batshit NATOPS check maneuvers and how no one's ever been able to figure out how he can do a barrel roll in low altitude in a transport bird.

They tell him about the time he and Donato were called to a high-rise gas explosion, and they casevac'd an unconscious, pregnant woman who ended up going into labor. Tommy got back there and, with the power of WikiHow on his side, delivered a healthy baby girl halfway to LA General.

They tell him about the time he sustained a concussion while landing a malfunctioning helicopter in the baseball field of a middle school, and yet somehow found the strength to host an impromptu AMA to three hundred kids about what being a pilot's like while he munched on tater tots and waited for a rescue.

They tell him about the time he was flying with a probie at night in an area with uncharted power lines that got tangled in the rotor, and how he slung the probie under his arm like a tote bag and dove out of the helicopter right before it exploded.

They tell him about the time Tommy and Nico were called to a cliffside mansion where some foreign dignitary's daughter was being held hostage. Tommy ended up HRSTing out of the helicopter and onto the scene, and then proceeded to beat the hell out of the guy, get himself stabbed, and give the SWAT team so much shit when they arrived that the 217 has an honorary table every year at the Backdraft Ball.

When Tommy finally shows up and disembarks, Dana's halfway through a story about the time they were all called to Shasta County to help with the Carr Fire in 2018, and as soon as Buck sees him over Dana's shoulder, he shouts, "You flew into a fire tornado?!"

Tommy's expression goes a little hunted and he holds up his hands placatingly, like, "In my defense, I tried to find another way around it—"

And Dana's like, "The fuck you did. You looked me dead in the eye and said, 'You know what would be funny?' And then you banked right into the whirl."

"It's not like you tried to stop me," Tommy says accusingly, ignoring the way the side of his head is starting to smoke from the intensity of Buck's stare.

"Well, no, you were right: it was funny," Dana says with a shrug.

That night, Buck rides Tommy slow and vicious and makes him recount every detail of the fire whirl flight before he'll let Tommy come, and the entire time he grips Tommy's head and forces him to hold Buck's gaze and thinks, I can't believe I ever thought you were normal. You're insane, you're out of your mind, you're perfect, you're perfect, you're perfect for me.

In the afterglow, practically humming with satisfaction, Buck bites playfully at Tommy's chest and says, "So this is what Lucy meant when she texted me that you and I match each other's crazy. Hell, after everything you've done, I think the only thing left to check off your list is, like, aliens."

And Tommy's entire body freezes and he falls very silent very suddenly. Buck lifts his head to stare at him, like, "You've gotta be kidding me."

"Evan, for legal reasons, I need you to change the subject."

Concept: I see your Soukoku are having a honeymoon in Paris while everything’s going on. And raise you Soukoku desperately trying to get back to Yokohama.

But it’s just not happening.

Chuuya grabs Dazai who’s practically spinning his own anxiety cocoon. He uses his ability to carry Sigma’s lifeless body and probably ends up hitting him against the ceiling on the way out.

Just incase this time it works.

They acquire a helicopter with minimal effort. And by that I mean they grab disguises and put on a whole soap opera routine while committing a heist.

The helicopter has no fuel.

They get fuel.

The helicopter explodes.

They leave Sigma behind and end up having to go get him back before someone buries him alive.

Dazai pisses someone off and they get thrown into jail again. They stage a prison riot and escape in the chaos.

Chuuya stops to pick up some treats for Verlaine (because Paris.) And they both end up shopping for gifts for their friends.

Ango keeps trying to send them help but something goes wrong every time.

They get another helicopter and it rolls off a cliff.

They just frequently keep misplacing Sigma.

Dazai finally falls asleep but it’s inside a shipping container and Chuuya has to go bail his arse out of trouble again.

They start an international incident and fix it in the same hour.

It’s just the Odyssey Soukoku edition where they’re desperately trying to get back home.

But anything and everything is going wrong because they are chaos magnets.

I’ve watched the first three Mission Impossible movies now and it’s crazy how they’re all completely different films from one another lol. which probably has to do with the fact that they all had radically different directors (Brian de Palma, John Woo, JJ Abrahams), but the only real consistent through line is Tom Cruise. Because even within the ten year time-span between their releases, the series is already unrecognisable from itself

The first one is a 1990s genre-defining heist spy movie and its concerns are very much rooted in the fact that the CIA is now basically this massive institutional leftover of the Cold War with many hanging threads that need to be dealt with (one of the main McGuffins being a list of names of undercover CIA agents scattered throughout ‘Eastern Europe’). When I first watched it I thought it was pretty good but not like great, but after having watched two of its sequels and thought about it some more I’m a lot more positive on it. The imagery of that movie is unforgettable, the highlight being the completely silent scene where Tom Cruise hangs from a wire in an all-white room trying desperately not to touch the floor. It’s crazy that de Palma directed this and Carrie and Scarface, all films with scenes permanently lodged into the cultural consciousness. And like it is a distinctly ‘cool’ movie, but not in the insane rabid jarhead post-9/11 action movie cool way, like there isn’t this fascistic military masculinity grafted onto it, its way more sleek genius spy guy shit. Anyway this one is really good.

The second movie is pretty bad and often barely comprehensible, like the scene-to-scene editing is hard to follow and the pacing is horrible. The experience of watching it is like watching Face-Off (another John Woo movie), like same weird ass vibe and editing except in this case the movie is boring and bad. Some of the stunts are pretty cool but they can’t really rise above the film they take place in. It’s also not a spy movie, it’s just a bad action movie. I feel like MI2’s biggest crime is trivialising Tom Cruise, like he has no presence or command in that film at all, he’s literally just a random guy with long hair. It’s insane the immediate drop in quality. This one is about a bio-engineered virus that the villains want to use to start a pandemic, but the concern feels very far away and immaterial ? Idk I really didn’t like this one

And then the third one is also just as bizarre because it looks and sounds and is written exactly like a Michael Bay film, down to the same vibrant ugly orange-blue colour palette and quippy dialogue and saccharine ending. And it’s also not a spy movie either lmao!!!! Like god the jump in representation of US intelligence agencies from 1996 to 2006 is staggering, it’s moved from using fantastical spy gadgets to very real military hardware and technology, only keeping the spy-magic tech in MI3 (like 3D printing the villain’s face as a mask disguise) because it was already established in the first one. And the action scenes are straightforwardly action scenes, shootouts with military helicopters and dodging precision drone strikes. Tom Cruise does an insane amount of running in this movie and it looks sooooo good, like there are so many long-ass shots of him just fucking booking it at full speed and that dude’s running form was made to be captured on film. But MI3 is like so deeply entrenched in Bush era catch-the-terrorists stuff, though somewhat offset by having Philip Seymour Hoffman as the main villain instead of like Al-Qaeda (although the main anxiety has still firmly shifted from a post-Soviet ‘Eastern Europe’ to a scary generalised terrorist ‘Middle East’). But again it feels so incredibly different in tone and fixation and motivation than the first film. 9/11 really did permanently break the brains of every USAmerican. Anyway I can’t wait to watch the next one

i like to think there are true crime episodes in the world of supernatural that are just dedicated to dean winchester

because like okay

he gets arrested in jericho california one/two days after halloween in 2005 and escapes custody before they really charge him for anything then he disappears

then a few months later in december of 2005 he shows up in st louis where hes pinned for the murders of two women and then the attempted murder of another, BUT hes found dead in this same womans house and then theres nothing about him for months

THEN in 2006 he gets arrested in baltimore and is charged for trespassing, grave robbery, grave desecration, murder, impersonation, identity theft etc etc and also arrested at this time is his younger brother sam who isnt charged with anything (as a side note here his brother went to stanford and was studying law, he was on track to be a lawyer a year before this) then overnight while an officer is transferring dean to st louis he escapes and that same officer is found dead on the scene by his partner - around this time sam also escapes custody

and so then they disappear for a while and later he shows up again, in milwaukee where a bank heist is going down and hes supposedly held hostage, then after the original perpetrator of the heist is shot and killed dean takes over running the heist, at that point fbi is called in and they storm the building, they find three or so dead bodies and no dean or sam and find the two escaped by impersonating people in the fbi’s swat team and dumping them in a closet having taken their clothes to blend in and get out of the building

and so they disappear again for a while until a few months later they get arrested again and are actually convicted and sent to folsom prison. they spend definitely under a week in this prison and then escape and once more disappear

then in 2008 theyre arrested again in monument colorado and its planned that theyre to be transferred to a maximum security prison in nevada but before they can be transported they supposedly die when the helicopter thats supposed to transport them explodes, a day later though the sheriffs office where they were kept is destroyed and everyone in it dies

AND THEN. there is dead silence on them for YEARS. they become myth after this, some super weird criminals who go down in infamy in online forums and chatrooms and dean winchester is known as the guy who can never stay dead.

and then. dean and sam get arrested again. a decade later. yeah theyre alive still. who wouldve guessed. what are they arrested for this time? TRYING TO KILL THE PRESIDENT.

So uh, this time is a bit different, I'm going to ramble a bit about my headcannons, specifically COMBAT HEADCANNONS !

Reginald - I imagine him as a long range guy, who's not good at close combat due to his rather lanky build, never getting close to the threat and keeping his distance. This could be problematic if not for the fact that he has his loyal right hand man with him for most of the time. Reginald specialises in using guns and often is the brain of the operation.

Right Hand Man - While he's seen using a gun in various parts of the game, he seems to like engaging in close combat more, he uses a gun only when he wants to eliminate someone quickly (in most of his battles with Henry he doesn't use a gun, only long range attack of his being the laser in his reborn form)

Reginald doesn't engage in fighting much when he's the leader of the toppat clan, but at the time when he was actively taking part in heists (or after the toppat king ending) him and RHM would form a good duo <- my copperright ass brain thinking about RHM protecting Reginald whenever he got himself into a fist fight of sorts during a heist. Vice versa Reginald would protect RHM from long range attacks, shooting his opponents from farther away. They just got eachother backs i think.

Triple Threat

Ellie - Her and Henry are pretty similiar when it comes to combat I think, but she's more on the close combat side to me, either using her fists or a weapon of choice (think like, the STOP sign or some other metal pipe or pole). She's good at quick planning and is capable of working and bouncing off of others when fighting. She can also use the force, which might be more on the long range side, but she's more of a jump into action kind of girl to me.

Henry - He's actually a secret third option to me, he mostly relies on items or on weird/stupid ideas when in danger, rarely seen doing actual fighting, he's literally just a guy with weird item summoning abilities. But if the situation calls for actual combat, he's more of a close combat guy (Stickmin Pawnch, and the cheap fighting combo)

Charles - He's wayyy more used to being a long range guy and using guns or his helicopter, it's rare to see him outside of it, but he could win a fist fight for sure. He prefers long range though, it's the most comfortable way of fighting for him, he knows that helicopter better than the palm of his hand.

So Triple Threat is mostly two close combat idiots and a long range one, they are either really successful together and pull off crazy impressive stuff, or they create the stupidest plan to exist and explode and die badly💥.

Rupert - To me, he's good at both, long range and close combat, he's an officer after all, with 8 years experience of being a policeman. He's good at what he does and pretty strong, though I like to think that he's very independent sometimes and could jump into a situation in which he tries to bite off more than he can chew, getting himself into a fight with more people than he is able to defeat (thinking about him trying to fix his past mistakes by working extra hard and trying to do more than he can sometimes, does that make sense)

Conan sat cross-legged on the floor, his phone resting in his hands. The soft hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen and the distant ticking of the grandfather clock filled the room, creating a quiet, almost meditative atmosphere.

On the screen of his phone was a photo of Kaito Kid, captured by a news helicopter during his latest heist. The thief was mid-air, his white cape billowing like a pair of wings against the night sky. His grin was as sharp and confident as ever, a playing card held between his fingers like a challenge to the world. Conan’s thumb hovered over the image, his expression softening in a way that was rare for the usually sharp-eyed detective.

He didn’t even realize he was smiling until Haibara’s voice cut through the silence, dry and knowing.

"Let me guess," she said, leaning against the doorway with a cup of tea in hand. Her tone was as calm as ever, but there was a glint of amusement in her eyes. "It’s about him again."

Conan blinked, startled out of his thoughts. He quickly locked his phone, the screen going dark, and tried to school his expression into something neutral. "What are you talking about?"

Haibara raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a faint smirk. She stepped into the room, her movements graceful and unhurried, and set her tea down on the coffee table before sitting across from him. "Your thief. Kaito Kid. Don’t play dumb—it doesn’t suit you."

Conan frowned, his cheeks tinged with pink. "I wasn’t—"

Conan opened his mouth to protest, but Haibara wasn’t done. She leaned back on her hands, her smirk widening. "You think you’re so subtle, but you’re not. Every time his name comes up, you get this… look. Like you’re trying not to smile but failing miserably."

Conan’s frown deepened, but there was no real heat behind it. He glanced away, his fingers tightening around his phone. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Haibara rolled her eyes, her expression a mix of exasperation and fondness. "Of course you don’t. Because you’re oblivious. But for the record, it’s painfully obvious to anyone paying attention. You’re lucky the professor is as clueless as you are."

Conan crossed his arms, his expression a mix of embarrassment and defiance. "Even if I was looking at something related to Kid, it’s not a big deal. He’s a criminal. It’s my job to keep an eye on him."

Haibara’s smirk turned almost predatory. "Is that what you’re calling it now? ‘Keeping an eye on him’? Because from where I’m sitting, it looks more like you’re smitten."

Conan’s face turned a deeper shade of red, and he looked away, his ears burning. Haibara watched him for a moment, her smirk softening into something almost fond. She reached for her tea, taking a slow sip before speaking again.

Conan didn’t respond, his gaze dropping to his phone. He unlocked it, the photo of Kid still on the screen. For a moment, he just stared at it, his expression softening despite himself. The thief’s confident grin, the way the moonlight caught the edges of his cape, the playful glint in his eyes—it was all so *Kaito*. And for some reason, it made Conan’s chest feel warm in a way he couldn’t quite explain.

Haibara hid a smile behind her cup as she stood, brushing imaginary dust off her skirt. "Just don’t let it distract you too much. We’ve got bigger problems to deal with."

Conan nodded, though his eyes didn’t leave the screen. "Yeah. I know."

As Haibara left the room, Conan’s thumb brushed over the photo, his lips curving into that same soft, unconscious smile. And for a moment, just a moment, he let himself enjoy the warmth blooming in his chest.

i will forever love the idea of a saiouma chase scene on a moving train but i wanna spice this up from the last time i mentioned it- iirc i think it was a normal phantom thief au with Kokichi as the thief, so hows about Shuichi thief this go round?

i tend to consider Shuichi to be a noticeably calculated thief as opposed to one who has 101 ways to wing it like thief Kokichi, no one would expect someone who works so hard to come up with the most efficient and logical heists to do something as insane as getting up on the train roof to make an escape. a detective Kokichi would be completely flabbergasted about it, gobsmacked even by his crazy stunt considering how much could go wrong if he makes one minor misstep

maybe double the insanity by having him jump off the train onto a getaway vehicle like a van running along side the tracks or a helicopter flying above that his crew are awaiting him in. that'd really fuck with Kokichi
