eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him

Today Fourteen visited A.Z. Fell & Co. Antiquarian and Unusual Books in Soho. The perfectly normal human bookseller was very nice. And handsome. The one in sunglasses was a bit funny though.

RTD writing Empire of Death and realising he's got like a minute left to fill but hasn't adressed Mrs Flood at all:

i am obsessed with the thought of having a rose tyler-/cut-off love confession though like can you imagine????

aziraphale is a projection from heaven like the metatron's head and JUST as he says crowley, i- the circle is shut off and the bookshop goes dark. we get a slow shot zooming out, showing us crowley motionless in front of the chalk markings, one hand lifted almost as if to reach out.

the candles are still burning, and once we have an aerial shot they too flicker and die, and all we see is black. if neil wants us to have fun we also hear nothing except for one broken sob right at the end </3

I put Loki as 1200+ years old because in canon he's around 1050 years during the events of The Avengers, and in the Loki show it says "centuries later," which means at least 200 years. he could be older than Merlin.

Merlin is known across fandom to be 1500 years old in modern day.

Crowley and Aziraphale could indeed be much older, as we don't know how much time passed between when the angels were created and when Adam and Eve left Eden. (I don't think.) but I put them down with what we know them to be for sure.

The Doctor is at least 4 and a half billion years old, as that's the amount of time they spent in the confession dial. they were stated to be at least 2k years old when they entered. they could very well be much older in total, if you tie in the lore of The Timeless Child. I wanted the gif to include both of those incarnations, as fifteen is the most recent (and older), and fourteen explicitly stated in The Giggle that he's a billion years old.

So, to address the people defending RTD's writing THIS SEASON,

this is what I mean by UNNECESSARY BAITS.

it feels like RTD only came back to market New Who again.... these "Susan" baits ain't got shit to do with:

#Don't dangle baits that you won't answer in the same damn season???#It screams “we want more viewers next year please come back" NO INTEGRITY IN WRITING AT ALL#If you want more viewers - THEN WRAP UP THE SEASON in a way where the audience aren't speculating WHY the “baits” that were dropped through#the season - why were these “baits” dangled to us when they play NO coherent part WITHIN THIS SEASON'S “mystery”??#It's cheap tricks for MARKETING#baits like these (Susan baits) have NO INTEGRITY

#but why is he dangling baits though#baits that have NOTHING significant to do with the season's “big reveals”#I have no issues with the silliness tbh#I feel like the theme of his comeback is “mirroring (his) debut series”#and also the adoption theme parallel to Chibnall's Timeless Child arc#but the “red herrings” or whatever baits he dangled on the viewers weren't even weaved together at the end of this season?#people say it's on purpose but he could have been NOT OBVIOUS about the baits that he knew he won't address till next season#UNANSWERED cliffhangers and baits FOR NEXT SEASON are a weak move#at least WRAP UP THE “SEASON BAITS” OLD MAN#the “Bad Wolf” arc felt “finished” after Rose's first season#THAT was good writing because obvious baits were NOT dangled and we weren't left with more questions AT THE END OF SEASON#we see Bad Wolf slowly comes back during Donna's run and that was good writing because it was IN THE SAME SEASON#we weren't left w/ UNANSWERED BAITS that was SO OBVIOUS throughout the season ONLY FOR IT TO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BIG SEASON REVEAL#does that make sense#like the SNOW FALLING and the SONG IN HER SOUL and Maestro's speculations??? WHY BRING THOSE UP? And sutekh hitching a ride in time vortex?#COME ON

honestly i could write essay after essay about everything that made that finale bad. and i will. however comma i genuinely do not care about any of these characters enough to want to do that. i don't want to spend my time critiquing and analysing a show where all the characters are boring and the plot is all deus ex machina.

LIKE. WHO IS RUBY. WHO IS SHE. WHO FUCKING IS SHE.

she's done with the whole SEASON. she was in EVERY episode. and we literally don't know anything about her apart from the whole mom mystery thing which is all for the big reveal at the end anyway?

and i can talk about the ways in which that was unsatisfying and so on. but like what does that tell us about RUBY? what do we know about HER

and the answer is honestly very little. ruby is such a stock doctor who companion that it's just kind of boring. she gets a big mystery, because of fucking course she does, and who is she outside of that? nice?? sweet?? does as she's told?? (this one is fucking boring btw) kind of like the chibnall companions, she's whoever she needs to be for the situation at hand. the writers say ruby needs to be shocked by landing on a planet after 6 months of travelling with the doctor, so she is. she isn't a person. she has one desire, which is to find her mother, and the only reason she gets to have that is that rtd needs to set up whatever the fuck was going on with her mom for the finale. that's it.

and the doctor. like why should we care about this doctor specifically, outside of the fact that this is the character we have been following for the whole show? who is he??? like seriously who is he? he doesn't get any character development? what makes him different from other doctors? who the fuck is this guy????

i said earlier that ncuti's doctor is what you get when you throw all the doctors in a blender and i stand by that. he's definitely the doctor, but he's like an average of all the other doctors with nothing particularly unique or special about him. ruby is what you get when you throw all the companions in a blender. definitely a companion, with nothing unique or special about her either. much like chibnall's companions, all she gets to do is stand around and watch.

and the crucial missing factor is we don't get to see what they see in each other. which from the companion's perspective is still excusable because here's a dude with a spaceship time machine and that sounds kind of sick so lets go and travel with him is an understandable motivation. but what does he see in her? because there's always a moment where you can see the doctor sort of think, oh yeah, i should travel with this person.

but there isn't really this moment with ruby. it's kind of like with how thirteen meets her companions. she just sort of runs into them, and now they're stuck together. and ncuti does get to emote more than jodie, so at least you can see that ruby and the doctor do like each other, but their relationship isn't really fleshed out ever. and like i can buy ruby risking her life for him, because that is just sort of what happens on doctor who, but it's not based on anything. we don't see them develop this trust of each other. their relationship doesn't get developed. it just appears fully formed.

The best part about getting out of the pedro fandom, is now that a trailer for The Last of Us season 2 is out, I don't have to even pretend to care, because even in the fandom, I hated TLOU 2. I hated that game and everything in it and never wanted to see it adapted on screen and now I have no obligation to even entertain watching it.

Big RIP to whoever plays Abby though, they should just delete twitter right now and save themselves at least half of the harassment they're going to get when she's announced.
