       “   ——- wait, mom ?   “ glimmer’s soft voice called out. when the queen paused she froze as well, voice lost within her throat as glimmer tried to put her thoughts into words. this shouldn’t have been so hard, but talking about anything personal with her mother . . . she was still getting used to it, and they both deserved to give an effort.

      finally glimmer took a deep breath. “   could you . . . stay, actually ? i don’t really want to be alone.   “ the princess spoke cautiously. obviously brightmoon’s queen had more important things to do, but it was worth it to ask anyway. “   we can —— talk, if you want.   “

        “  i didn’t eat too fast !!  “ but arguing with light spinner, as glimmer often discovered, never ended well for her. especially when the princess’ stomach hurt after a hearty meal with her second mother. “   it’s fine. . .   “ her arms wrapped around her own abdomen, face unusually pale. why had she eaten so fast ? glimmer would be lucky if she didn’t get sick.

        she attempted a few deep breaths, light pink eyes sheepishly glancing up. “   don’t tell mom i feel sick. she won’t let me hear the end of it.   “ and that was somehow WORSE than the ache glimmer felt. slowly she stood up, forced smile stretching her lips. “   i’m —- going to my room to nap. maybe i can sleep it off.   “

I’m calling this the ‘perfect au’ wherein Adora and Catra were found by the rebellion instead of the horde and all these kids grew up having fun shenanigans. I know it makes no sense let me have this

     “  sure !  “  her response was far too exciteable and forced, one hand clinging to adora’s hand whilst pastel pink irises tried to keep focused on her friend. it was just a lucky shot, nothing glimmer wasn’t used to ( especially considering her newfound friendship with adora ), but this time was particularly bad.

     dark spots danced in the princesses’ eyes, unsure which of the two faded adoras hovering over her was the real one. all around them the sounds of battle played out like a faint song ; adora’s voice much clearer than all else.  “  i’ve never been better, actually. um —- don’t leave me.  “
