biggest reason i make so many flop posts on here is because everything i do reeks of the desperation to make a popular tumblr post. this is deliberate, because it is what protects me from ACTUALLY making a popular tumblr post. so long as i crave it, tumblr fame will never find me. it is only when i turn away, and accept my fate of obscurity, that people will lay their eyes upon me. and it WILL be because i tripped and fell on my stupid face while i was turning

Big fan of sun motifs in characters not necessarily being about positivity and happiness and how they're so " bright and warm" but instead being about fucking brutal they are.

Radiant. A FORCE of nature that will turn you to ash. That warmth that burns so hot it feels like ice. Piercing yellow and red and white. A character being a Sun because you cannot challenge a Sun without burning alive or taking everything down with them if victorious.

something tender and domestic and needy with john.

something like him coming home, all bone-tired and angry, his body rigid and poised with tension, only to fold and falter at the sight of you asleep on the bed. so soft buried underneath the sheets, and john’s hit by this yawning in the pit of his stomach, so vitriolic it shakes him — he has never really gotten over the way you’re his now.

his to take care of. his to love. to spoil.

his to come home to.

john stalks forward quietly and settles close. he knows that you’ll get angry at him for sitting on the bed in his work clothes, but he can’t help it. he needs to feel you. to be with you. to be so close, the coldness of winter will burn off his skin.

he brushes his knuckles along your cheek, watching it dimple at the slightest pressure. how soft you are, years still ahead of you, but still, you chose him. you chose to be here in his home, in his reach, in the cusp of his palm.

you’re warm from your sleep, almost feverish underneath all those layers, and john feels the pull of his own exhaustion now. like his body has been waiting for this — for you.

“mmn?”

you stir, heavy eyes blinking open.

“shh,” john murmurs, not willing to truly pull you from your slumber. “s’just me, baby. go back to sleep.”

john feels the barest of nods move his hand before watching you curl into him, wriggling underneath the mass of your blankets, and settling with a satisfied puff. his lips dance with a fond mirth but john doesn’t move, not yet anyway, and just watches on as you slip back into your sleep.

Something I think about a lot is how Rick Riordan very rarely uses "girlfriend/boyfriend" to refer to Percy and Annabeth within their perspectives. They're so intertwined, even Annabeth says in hoh that the word boyfriend isn't strong enough, because Percy was a part of her. They are a singular soul, too wrapped around each others' fates that regular labels are far too weak for them. But, Rick Riordan uses "boyfriend" a lot in Nico and Wills perspectives, not because they love each other less than percabeth, but to show how much the word means to them. Nico uses it any chance he gets- "his boyfriend," "he actually had a boyfriend," because Nico has never been able to say that before. Their struggle with their queer identities mixed with Nico's catholic guilt and chronic everyone-hates-me disease makes the fact that he has someone to call his actual boyfriend so much more important to his character development.

i'm one hundred percent certain that after percy and annabeth made out underwater. and he wanted to make their relationship official. the question was not "will you be my girlfriend?" but "can i be your boyfriend?" i don't care what the canon says. percy gave annabeth the space to take the lead in the relationship. because after a lifetime of being abandoned by everyone she dared to care for. and then watching her on the brink of a panic attack at the thought of losing him the last four years. he wanted to honor a new beginning between them by follow her lead and moving at her pace.
