Two Ontarians came together and created the awesomest new musical instrument??

One guy is a musician from Ottawa and has been toying with the design of a new instrument for 30 years, then he met a clockmaker and woodworker from Guelph who was eager to make this instrument a reality.

And it's absolutely beautiful. It's cylindrical and played with a bow, 10 equally spaced strings that you bow in different spots to change tensions and make a sound.

And the genius of it musically, is that it's cyclical so as you keep rotating the cylinder, you come back round to the first notes you struck (if you keep your bow still), and so you get these rhythmic, periodic repeating patterns that sound really ethereal, calming and hypnotic.

Apparently it made some listeners cry, and I was surprised before hearing it. Skilled playing can make people cry, sure. Melodies, harmonies, all that stuff, definitely. The open instrument itself? If you just eyeballed bowing a cello you'd drive people far away, I'd reckon. I certainly would.

But I saw a clip of it in action, I can definitely see it now.

They called the instrument Fron2. A new Canadian musical instrument!

I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

This comic is older, but clean enough that I didn’t feel the need to redraw! Darn perfectionism lol

So the ways that different animals communicate varies vastly between them. For example, rats hear things on a spectrum slightly above human hearing, and there are recent studies touching on how with special microphones, scientists have discovered that rats squeak a lot to one another in high pitches to communicate between them like their own little secret language! While there are significantly less studies on turtle behavior the same can be said for them, as baby turtles will make low noises that signal when the others of their nest are hatching, and in general they hear much lower frequencies on account of their scale covered eardrums and need for underwater listening.

So with that, how do the animal traits of Splinter and his kids line up?

They probably have a base hearing range similar to a humans, but the turtles can probably hear and speak lower sounds than Splinter and vice versa. What shenanigans could they get up to?

Cue cussing in a frequency range that Splinter shouldn’t be able to hear…

Get out of survival mode and into the God frequency of creative energy. When you’re thinking about the money you don’t have, the new shoes you can’t afford, the relationship that’s not working out - you are operating in the lower frequencies, and this is how you swirl and stay stuck in the gutter. When one problem is resolved you find something else to worry about. You are mentally positioning yourself in survival, no different to the animals living in the wild. But you have a choice. You can choose better. You can decide to frame your ‘problems’ as opportunities, you get to lean into creative energy. The simple act of drawing or painting takes you out of survival mode. God is a creator, so when you create, you are in your God frequency. When you write freely, you are in your creative energy, when you produce something out of nothing from your mind you are moving yourself out of survival. So no matter how difficult life is right now, keep creating in whatever way that looks like for you, because the closer you are to God the closer you are to the highest frequency that you can access on this plane.

i know that gameplay wise u get such a boost of approval because u only get him as a companion at the very end of the game so there's a much smaller margin to get his bonus abilities but im obsessed with an idea of sweeping that man off his feet in one simple conversation.

Watching this again, it becomes incredibly clear in s3 that Nate is teaching Parker how to run her own crew. He fully anticipates that she will be his legacy, and more than anyone else---more than Sophie or Hardison, more than Eliot (though I would argue that Eliot never even slightly wanted it)---he is teaching her how to take over, think like he thinks and plan like he plans. He fumbles some of the emotional stuff, never actually tells her explicitly...but by the time you reach s3 he's clearly all-in. He's decided. Parker is going to be Nate 2.0, with different more exciting bugs than the 1.0 version.
