It’s Feral Friday!
Sometimes getting feral simply entails pondering the familiar from an unconsidered perspective and finding fascination in the everyday. This week we’ve selected a work from our Book Arts Collection that does just that. Sarah Peters’ The Moon Has No Weather is a book that posits the earth’s natural satellite as its own archivist—a celestial body with no atmosphere whose physical history is preserved on its windless, waterless surface.
Inspired by an installation of Peters’ work at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, The Moon Has No Weather was produced during her residency at the Women’s Studio Workshop and published as an artist’s book in 2013 in Rosendale, NY. The text was letterpress printed in Fox typeface (designed by Chad Kloepfer) on Magnani Arturo paper. The book also includes hand-marbled Hahnemühle Bugra, Thai Mulberry, and handmade abaca papers, as well as selected pages from scientific lab books and a 1984 Polish electronics manual.
Wanna learn more about how this book was made? You can follow along with Peters’ production process here. Wanna learn more about the thought process behind it? Check out this 1885 text The Moon: considered as a planet, a world, and a satellite (also available for loan through the UWM library catalog).

do YOU enjoy fantasy settings where the continents resemble the maimed pieces of a fallen god’s corpse?
do YOU have a pressing desire for musketeers, cavaliers, and swashbuckling men in feathered hats?
do YOU enjoy monster/human romances and giant women who could crush their husband’s skull like a grape?
do YOU like pathetic cringefail losers willing to risk it all to make their evil emperor father proud?
do YOU like commoner perspectives in your high fantasy?

🌅 Lucifer Deity Guide 🌅
Tumblr media
Note: This is inspired by both my own experiences with Lucifer and the information I read on @scarletarosa's blog and her devotional guide to him. Please go read that one too!!
The divine rebel, Lucifer is the light of truth and divine wisdom; an ancient light which shines through the darkness, representing illumination. He is the driving force of innovation, liberation and transformation. According to Scarletarosa, who actively works with Lucifer and was told this by him, he was the first-born god of the Universe created by the supreme deity, the Source. He is so incredibly ancient and beautiful. Lilith was created to be his counterpart, the Queen of Heaven. However, Jehovah took the throne of heaven from Lucifer and cast him and his followers into hell. Most of them lost their connection to heaven and their energy became dark and intense. Jehovah claimed the throne of heaven and set himself up as the one true god, manipulating humans into betraying their original deities. Thus, Lucifer became the King of Hell and has been scorned by Christians for millenia.
God of: Illumination, Light, Darkness, Change, Rebirth, Challenges, Innovation, Logic, Truth, Knowledge, Wisdom, Strategy, Persuasion, Revolution, Luxury, Pleasure, Freedom, The Arts and The Morning Star (“Morning Star” is another name for the planet Venus)
Symbols: Sigil of Lucifer, The Morning Star, Violins and Fiddles (instruments traditionally associated with him)
Plants and Trees: Rose, Belladonna, Mulberry, Patchouli, Myrrh, Min, Tobacco, Marigold, Lilies, Hyacinth, Sage
Crystals: Amethyst, Black Obsidian, Onyx, Garnet, Selenite, Rose Quartz
Animals: Black Animals in general, Dragons, Snakes, Owls, Eagles, Ravens, Crows, Rams, Foxes, Pigs,  Bats, Rats, Moths, Swans

How was he traditionally worshipped?
There is not much to say about how Lucifer was historically worshiped seeing as he wasn’t worshiped at all for a large chunk of human history. He seems to have been worked with in some capacity according to the Gesta Treverorum, written in 1231, which is where we first see the term Luciferian being used to refer to his worship. This was by a woman named Lucardis for a religious circle, who was said to lament to Lucifer in private and prayed to him. However, the term Luciferians was later applied to basically any groups Christians didn’t like and wanted to fight, as one might expect. However, the modern Luciferian movement also sheds light on how Lucifer is worshiped. For Luciferians, enlightenment is the ultimate goal. Their basic principles highlight truth, freedom of will and fulfilling one’s ultimate potential, and encourage the same in all of us. Traditional dogma is shunned because Luciferians believe that humans do not need deities or the threat of eternal punishment to know what is good and the right thing to do. All ideas are to be tested before being accepted, and even then one should remain critical because knowledge is fluid and ever-changing. Regardless of whether Luciferians view Lucifer as a deity or an archetype, he is a representation of ultimate illumination and exploration in the name of personal growth.

Appearance
For me Lucifer usually appears as a tall light-skinned man with long fiery red hair (so red it looks like it’s been dyed), a sophisticated face with a killer jawline, passionate eyes and dressed in a fancy black suit. From all my experiences with him and what I’ve heard from other followers, it seems Lucifer and most demons dress in full suits and tuxedos.
Personality
Lucifer is nothing if not charming. He’s a protector first and foremost - one that always works to help you better yourself, but a protector nonetheless. He feels like a protective older brother taking care of you while your parents are away. He is a very complex entity, deeply wise and eloquent. He is more serious than one might expect for a demon given their popular depictions in our culture as chaotic forces of evil, but Lucifer is full of courage and love. I often feel him with me even when I’m not doing things related to him. He is proud of his follower’s accomplishments and congratulates them on a job well done, though he also reminds them that the job is never truly over. Growth is constant. Lucifer is the epitome of growth, blunt and gentle at the same time, telling you what you need to do and giving you space to figure out how to do it.
Lucifer values resilience, the pursuit of self-betterment, intellectualism, courage, open-mindedness and responsibility in individuals and wants to see his followers develop these qualities. He is constantly rooting for you to reach your full potential. He won’t hold your hand the entire way, but he will help you take steps in the right direction. Lucifer, like all deities, is different for everyone and will adjust his approach depending on your needs.

Elements: Air Edition
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
About the air element: The air element is linked to things such as divination, concentration, visualization, and prophecy. Air teaches us how to hone our scattered energy and focus it toward what we want. It teaches us to use our intention. Air can be a big cleanser and also a big charger. Just stand outside for a few momenrs on a windy day, letting it blow around you and play through your hair, and you will feel renewed.
Air in magic: The air element is often used in combination with smoke, feathers, trees, flowers, and plants. It is common to use the air element in both spells that require letting go, and in spells that bring you new information. After all, rumors can travel on the wind. Aromatherapy, hanging objects up, playing the flute or other woodwind instruments, and tossing things to the wind are all examples of using the air element in magic.
Forms of air include: wind, still air, breath, vibrations
Some air spirits include: Sylphs, zephyrs, faeries
Color: Yellow
Direction: East
Tools: Censer, athame, sword, wand
Tarot suit: Swords
Zodiac signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Symbol:
Tumblr media
Air in daily life: The most obvious form of air in our daily lives is the air that we breathe. Everyone does it, everyone needs it. Speaking requires the element of air as well, as it carries the vibrations of our voices. We use air to cool off, and every time we look up at the clouds in the sky, we are interacting with the air element.
Air in the home: Similarly to how fire is used to keep our homes warm, air is used to keep them cool. Whether you are opening a window, turning on a fan, using an air conditioner, or fanning yourself with the playbill for your little brother's school performance of Legally Blonde in the stuffy auditorium, you are using air to cool yourself down. Air can also be very healing. How many times have you stepped outside to get some fresh air and take in the breeze while you were feeling sick?
Air in the kitchen: Though it may not be obvious at first, there are some cooking methods that utilize the air element. Perhaps the most common is drying, whether you are drying meat for jerkey or herbs for tea. Then there is cooking with convection heat, which is growing more popular, or cooking with microwaves. Also popular, as seen by the amount of fizzy beverages and whipped toppings available, is carbonation and aeration. There are several foods and ingredients associated with the air element, including~
Almond, anise, bamboo, brazil nut, caraway, chicory, dandelion, endive, hazel, hops, lavender, lime, mace, maple, marjoram, mint, mulberry, parsley, pecan, sage, acorn squash, artichoke, bitter melon, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, fennel, okra, rhubarb, spaghetti squash, alfalfa, cannelini beans, lima beans, mung beans, celery seed, chamomile, rosemary, scallions, amaranth, puffed rice, rye, apple, apricot, blackberry, currants, lingonberry, pear, pineapple, tamarind, pomegranate, black tea, chocolate, coffee, white vinegar, cabbage, celery, grape leaves, mustard greens, daikon, sunchoke, parsnip, hibiscus, macadamia nuts, walnuts, stevia
Herbs associated with air: Frankincense*, myrrh*, pansy, primrose, vervain, violet, yarrow, dill, clove, acacia, aspen, beech, benzoin*, bodhi, bracken, bromeliad, clover, fern, goldenrod, horehound, houseleek, mistletoe*, papyrus, pine, slippery elm, tobacco, rose petals
Stones associated with air: Fluorite, moonstone, turquoise, amethyst, rhodochrosite, topaz, pumice, alexandrite
Animals associated with air: Doves, hawks, eagles, foxes, turtles, ravens, spiders
Incense: Lavender, lemon balm, linden, frankincense, myrrh, violet, anise, chicory, mace, pine
Air on the altar ideas: yellow feathers, feathers in general, bird imagery, incense, censer, bells, flute, objects hanging above the altar
Divination with the air element: Nephomancy, austromancy, alveromancy, feather divination
Air work for spoonies:
Open up the window to watch the sky
Collect feathers or scatter them to the breeze
Keep a handheld fan nearby for when you need to create a breeze of your own
If you dont have your own windchimes, ring bells or listen to recordings of chimes on your phone
Use yellow pillowcases, blankets, sheets, curtains, or wall decorations
Hang beads or ribbons in your window
*Some herbs are unsafe or even deadly to ingest and can be dangerous to use. ALWAYS do research.

modus operandi
(Written for @flashfictionfridayofficial's prompt: FFF218 How Do You Use It? This isn't related to anything I'm working on but enjoy!)
Tumblr media
It wasn’t much, but it had been her mother’s.
Maybe that’s what made it hurt all the more.
She lets her face press to the cold stone of the bridge, trying to ease the ache of her heavy heart. It shouldn’t matter that she had hand sewn every one of the beads onto the bodice, that she had embroidered every stitch into the skirt by candlelight, that she had never worn it until today. She had stayed up late, squinting by the weak glow of the candlelight, eyes burning and fingers bleeding from where she had pricked them trembling with exhaustion, trying to finish the alterations in time.
All she had wanted was one night. One moment to remember what she had used to be, what her mother had wished for her.
The gash in the skirt bleeds where the ink pot was thrown at her. Where she rubs her fingers on it, they still come away black, instead of the blood red it looks under the moonlight. She feels the last sob escape her, bubbling through her throat.
She is no scholar to win her freedom by sneaking out to take the Civil Service exam as Shen Xiumin did. She has no skill for singing, unlike Huang Meilin, to run away to the stage and hide her face behind the face paint of the opera. She is no warrior to restore her family’s honour as Hua Chenyi did.
All she had were her hands. All she had were her eyes. The eyes that picked up the beads left behind where noblewomen dropped them from their hems, the calloused hands with unpainted nails that stitched them into the dress.
“Hush, child.” A voice emerges from behind her. “Why do you cry?”
She turns, bowing to the fox emerging from the undergrowth, her seven tails swishing. “Lady Fox.”
The fox’s fathomless eyes dart to the dress. “I see, the Prince will choose a bride tonight at the masquerade, won’t he? He will choose based on the dress.”
She could not admit that all she had wanted was a single night. She was no great beauty, but she had her skill.
“You have always been kind to the water spirits and the forest sprites. I will reward you now.”
The dress lifts into the air as she gazes upon it. The jacket lifts, the skirt puffs outwards before narrowing. When it descends, it is as soft as the mulberry silk only palace nobles could afford, the expensive deep green dye covered with intricate silver and gold where her own once laid.
And it looks nothing like her mother’s dress.
“Put it on. It will return to its former state by the hour of the tiger, but you should have time for a dance.”
But even as she takes it into her hands, she finds her head shaking. “Noble Lady Fox, I cannot accept your gift. For this was my mother’s and it would be a disservice to both of us to wear the dress as it is.” She swallows. “I am sorry, Noble Lady Fox, I am honoured but I still have my pride. I cannot accept this. I cannot wear it to the ball.”
The fox gazes at her, her dark eyes inscrutable. “Is that your final answer?”
            She nods. “Then very well.”
The dress disappears from her hands altogether and when she looks up from the ground, the fox is gone too.
She swallows past the bitterness suddenly in her throat, for she knows better than to demand her dress back.
Days pass, and the prince announces his bride. She watches as the noblewoman steps up beside him, her hand dainty and soft, her nails painted elegantly, her face powdered and her lips as small and red as cherries. She moves on with her life, until one day, a courtier comes knocking at her door.
“Are you Xiu Yanli?” The courtier asks, her eyes squinting to read the characters. “Please come with me to the palace.”
She goes, even though the courtier doesn’t explain, not even when her stepmother demands to know where she’s going, demands that the walnuts will not shell themselves nor the tea steep itself in its pot. She goes, even though she knows she will never be able to come back after this.
All she had left that meant anything was the dress anyway, and that was taken from her too.
She stiffens as they reach the palace, but relaxes as they go around to the back. Then, she stiffens again, as she is led through a corridor opulent with gold dragons on the windows and through staircases with deep walnut wood engravings in them. Only the emperor is allowed gold dragons.
But she doesn’t say anything as she is led into a room. She sinks to her knees, bowing fully as the new empress-to-be stands before her.
When she raises her eyes though, she cannot help but gasp.
Her dress lies beautifully against her body, exactly as it looked that night, except the gash was now a silver and gold inlay that spiralled like a cobweb and the ink stain curved into beautiful delicate patterns like a painting of lotuses and bamboo on silk.
“I am told you are the seamstress who made this?” The empress-to-be’s voice is soft and high.
“I did the alterations, your Highness. It was originally my mother’s.”
“How did you make it do that with the beading?”
She explains but after, she forces herself to speak. “How did you get it?”
The empress purses her lips, and all of a sudden, she’s reminded that the empress is younger than her. “I’m new to the palace too. Another lady ruined my original dress and I was crying, except a fox came in and offered it to me, if I would recognise the seamstress later.”
She looks shyly at her. “Would you come and be a handmaiden for me? It’s just… I need a friend. You would stay here, of course, but you can return if you want. I’m not- I don’t mean to force you.”
She bowed. She bowed deeply and gratefully, before straightening up and smiling.
“Of course. But can I have my dress back? It isn’t much, but it was my mother’s.”

PART 2 READING MATT BOMER/JONATHAN BAILEY
As promised this is part 2 of the reading for Matt and Jonathan. This is an UPDATE ON THEM
Part 3 will follow as soon as possible, and it will contain the QUESTIONS you send to me. Have a nice Sunday!!
From the green witch oracle:
Matt: wisdom, affection
-external assistance should be sought which can take the form of personal consultancy or research, bay heralds new romantic relationships. Be wary of speaking your mind without care for others around you
-new experiences come your way, you feel prompted to find new things of doing things. if you're seeking a solution, be open to suggestions and openings. a valuable proposition comes your way, but don't get carried away. Put true feelings in everything you do
Jonathan: wholeness, emotion
-everything should come together in projects and plans. The completion of something is indicated with black mulberries and the energy of the fruit asks you to put your knowledge and skills to the test. Balance and stability are present and from this foundation the possibilities are expanding. setbacks and miscommunication are challenges to watch out for.
-any uncertainties that have been hanging around should begin to fall away soon. A commitment and even perhaps a major life decision will come up and you are to take hold of your emotions before you determine the right path for you. someone near you may express themselves in an unsettling way, so try and ride that wave gently until it passes. It could be time to make a new step forward
Clarifiers from the love truth oracle/situational love oracle deck for the cards above:
Matt: we are not suited for each other/addiction: codependent, obsession & restraint, possession&control/emotional block/ I know I messed up, I'm sorry/love call: expressing love, messages of love, thinking of you, informing you
Jonathan: I'm fixated on you/love: unconditional love, self-love& wholeness, affection&attraction/selflessness/ we'll reunite someday/sunglasses: watching, looking, perception, stalking
The way I see this is that Matt does know what he wants and feels. He's not the best at expressing his feelings loudly and boldly, but he should seek some help with that, because it's taking its toll. The other day (after the dead of his co-star) he felt really isolated and sad, I think he is someone who processes all his feelings and insecurities internally and therefore doesn't appear as open as Jonathan. With the right people he does, though. Jonathan is someone who makes him feel loved and cherished and he makes Matt laugh. I don't know why, but Matt's husband to me feels very serious and "grown-up". Matt doesn't need someone as serious as him, he needs someone making him feel lighter.
I still feel Matt's marriage is rocky, and I do think his husband knows this too. It may take a while before they both come to the same conclusion, but eventually they will split. That's what I see at the moment. Matt will feel courageous enough to tell Simon he is unhappy in the end.
Jonathan tries to concentrate on his career. He will have many more possibilities and thrive. Emotionally, his feelings for Matt are the same, but he has told him what he wants, so the ball is in Matt's court.
The cards love call and sunglasses indicate to me they are frequently in contact with each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fairy tale Lenormand: ring, clouds, lilies, fox, gentleman, bouquet
Light and shadow tarot: ten of pentacles, the high priestess, temperance, king of wands, knight of pentacles, two of cups
confusion about commitment or promise
commitment to lover, commitment to purity
suspicion about commitment or promise, a commitment based on self-interest
a man that is committed or bound, or has a relationship with querent
social commitment, a promise of a visit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With all that I think Matt is more clear about what he feels for Jonathan, and more clear about his marriage. It doesn't mean necessarily that we will see him taking a step to actively end it, but I feel he's more aware of what he should like, and thinking about how to achieve it. Thinking about life in general, also after the death of his co-star.
Jonathan has still a lot of feelings, but he feels okay, in general he's a very bright, cheerful person full of energy and love. I think that's why he's irresistible for Matt, who is a lot more pessimistic and introverted
Last but not least I pulled from the messages from your animal spirit guides deck:
Matt: Condor He should be thinking about what steps to take before just jumping into something
Jonathan: snow leopard He should take some time for himself rest
*PLEASE BEAR IN MIND; THIS READING IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY/ALLEGED*

First Prince week 2024 - Day 7 - A Moment at Your Side
@thebrownstone
Prompt - Gravestones
After getting outed, Henry takes Alex with him on his visit to his father's grave.
AO3
***
It’s the first year that Henry has someone that he loves that he would want to bring to his father’s gravestone.
After everything that has happened in the last year from finally getting to be with Alex, having Alex admit his feelings and trying to give him up anyway, and then, deciding to come out when they’re ready, only to be forced out… it’s been a crazy year, and Henry hadn’t quite gotten the opportunity to visit his father’s grave as he usually does.  Which is why after everything settled down, Henry asked Alex to come visit (since he was no longer doing ‘first son’ things and didn’t have school, yet – he’d be starting at NYU in September – he was free) with the plan of taking Alex to his father’s grave on his father’s birthday.
There’s a comfort of having someone he loves – having Alex – with him this year.  It feels different, somehow, as if he can share his grief with someone… he’s not alone this time.  None of his family visited the gravesite often, as least as far as he knows.
In previous years, he made these visits alone, and now … he doesn’t have to.
They arrive at the area of the cemetery that his dad is buried in and get out of the car.  He’s holding flowers in one hand and holds his other hand out for Alex, who takes it and gives it a squeeze.
Henry leads the way through the gravestones to the spot underneath a mulberry tree where his father’s gravestone is.  Once they arrive, he lays the flowers on the stone and stands back, hand still in Alex’s.
“I usually tell him about what’s been going on in my life, this year – I don’t even know where to start,” Henry admits after a moment of silence.
“Maybe I could speak?  Introduce myself?” Alex offers.
Henry smiles.  He’d been worried that Alex would find this a bit strange, but the love of his life just … steps into everything with him and proves once again that he’s pretty amazing.
“Go ahead, love.”
Alex smiles and squeezes his hand before focusing on the gravestone.  “Well, um, hi – uh, Mr. Fox – wait is he like a Prince Consort or something?  Should I –”
Henry can’t help the chuckle.  “Just call him Arthur.”
Alex nods.  “Hi, Arthur, I am – my name’s Alex, and I know you’re always watching over Henry, so you probably already know this, but I’m Henry’s boyfriend – well, technically, Royal Suitor but Henry informs me that doesn’t mean much… I thought maybe it would give me powers or something, but honestly, the only power I want is to love your son forever and that seems to be what I’m finally getting to do.  That’s the best power I could ever receive.  He’s the best thing in my life and I think you’d be very proud of him.”
Henry smiles, softly.  “I’d like to think he’s proud of me and really, I’m the lucky one here.”
He turns to look at the gravestone and he starts talking about the last year and his struggles.  He talks about befriending Alex after cakegate, working up the nerve to face him again after kissing him, and the entire being together while working through their feelings.  He talks a lot about Alex giving him the courage to live his truth and be an out and happy gay prince with the love of his life.
It's the first time that he’s telling all or mostly happy stories of his year to his dad.  Usually, he struggles with the weight on his shoulders from the Queen and trying to be the ‘normal, straight’ heir, but this year… Alex had given him the ability to be exactly who he is, and it’s given him the strength to come out and be happy.
It’s everything he always wanted and now he finally has it.
He finishes with talking about their plans to move to New York, Alex going to law school, and Henry’s plans for the shelters for queer youth.  He wants to make a difference and now, he finally can.
He’s quiet for a second, basking in the moment, the realization, and he feels good.
Now, he’s ready to go after a murmured I love and miss you, dad.
He turns and smiles at Alex.  “Ready to go, love?”
“We can stay longer if you like?”
“No, I’m good.  I feel good … because of you.  Now, come on, I want to go back to the palace and play some of dad’s favorite music.”
“I’d like nothing more.”
“Good.  Then, let’s do it.”

moonglade/moonscales:
moonglade is the largest of a chain of islands called the moonscales. this is where the members of house silversea reside and would be considered their 'seat'.
the climate is compariable to countries located in the mediterranean. pre-climate change, of course.
moonglade palace, house silversea's main residence, is quite large and is located at the northern most tip of the island. the architecture is reminiscent of the greco-roman in style in real life, featuring arches, columns and domes.
a curious feature (at least to outsiders unaware of their true nature), are the stairs that lead directly into the water.
The throne room of Moonglade Keep is truly remarkable in terms of design and architecture. A large circle portion of the floor is made of glass that can see through to the waters below, sort of like a wild aquarium. It can be opened to allow merlings from their undersea kingdom in whenever they hold court.
underneath moonglade is a network of caves and caverns. there is a "stables" found within that houses hippocamps.
cereals, fruits and vegetables found on all islands: apples, apricots, artichokes, arugula, asparagus, barley, blackberries, broad beans cabbages, carrots, cherries, chickpeas, crabapples, cucumbers, figs, grapes, lemons, lentils, mulberries, nectarines, olives, oranges, peaches, peas, pears, plums, pomegranates, spinach, squash, watermelon, wheat, wild strawberries.
wildlife: anchovies, bats, blind-mole rats, blue crabs, cranes, crows, cuttlefish, deer, dolphins, doves, ducks, flamingos, foxes, frogs, geese, goats, grouse, hares, hawks, herons, ibis, jays, jellyfish, kingfishers, kites, lizards, lobster, lynxes, mackerel, magpies, mertens, mice, minnows, mussels, nightjars, octopus, osprey, orca, owls, oysters, pelicans, pigeons, pigs, pheasants, polecats, ring-necked parakeets, ravens, salamanders, sandpipers, sardines, seagulls, sea urchins, seals, sharks, sheep, shrews, shrikes, snakes, sperm whales, squid, sturgeon, swallows, swifts, tortoises, tuna, turtles, woodpeckers, wrens.
flowers, trees, plants, etc.: almond, althaea, amaryllis, anemone, aster, basil, bay laurel, beech, bellflower, cardamom, cassia, centaurea, chamomile, chestnut, cinnamon, cistus, chrysanthemum, clove, coriander, crocus, cumin, cypress, daphne, dianthus, dill, evergreen, fennel, fir, ginger, heliotrope, hellebore, hyacinth, iris, larkspur, lemon balm, licorice, lilac, lily, lotus, mandrake, marjoram, mastic tree, mint, myrtle, myrrh, narcissus, nutmeg, oak, oleander, oregano, orchid, palm tree, parsley, peony, pepper, pine, poplar, protea, rose, rosemary, saffron, sage, savory, sunflower, thyme, violet, walnut, wolf's bane, yarrow, yellow pheasant's eye, yew.
main trades include pearls, seafood, fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices, fish sauce, olive oil, as well as a specialized fabric dubbed seasilk.
several fishing villages can be found throughout the moonscales. fishing and farming are how a large number of the population makes a living.
do humans live there? yes. but the humans who live there are beholden to the silversea's in one way or another and are sworn to secrecy, lest a terrible fate befalls them. there are other merfolk populating the area as well.
