Last time we had a writers strike, Pushing Daises got the axe. While thinking about this, I realized the ACOTAR show might suffer a similar fate.
..
..
If I speak.
#LOOK I’m NOT a hater#I’m just saying I used to work in Hollywood#I worked in an acting theater for the a listers#like I’ve met Margot Robbie and Ariana (we helped her prepare for elphaba)#and Mandy moore etc etc#so I’ve seen scripts (I saw the shadow and bone scripts and the new game of thrones scripts before they even aired)#seeing the behind the scenes process made me really disillusioned with the process of things#on top of that it really bums me out when things like this become mainstream and suddenly you’re a loser for liking it#but I really love ACOTAR in an unironic way and just want to protect it lol

I think she also quite likes the idea of having a family one day and going back to work after and dipping in and out. In this podcast she says she’s happy she can be an actor until she’s 80. Also, more and more actors have expressed how they needed time off to centered on their children. I think Emily Blunt during her last promo tour actually said that she was taking some time off because her girls needed her now at 7 and 9. And she had been working consistently forever. Sometimes A+.actors disappear for 2 years then come back then they dip again. It’s life. It’s a luxury they have and I think she’s recently realized all this too. This can be her life! I’m happy for her. Everyone should too.
Exactly. Pretty much regular folks with jobs experience it too but in A listers case they have the luxury to take longer breaks because they have the money. I mean a lot of working actresses right now who are loved and acclaimed are moms like: Emma Stone, JLaw, Emily, Margot Robbie soon to be, etc Meryl freaking Streep is a grandma as well, it’s just called having balance

quite possibly the worst casting of all time. this makes me so angry.
why is every adaptation of WH bent on deeply misunderstanding the BOOK IT IS ADAPTING???
first of all, heathcliff NOT being white is fundamental to the story and his character, casting a white man to play him changes everything? him and cathy are supposed to be different. the difference between her priviledge and status and his status is supposed to be apparent and obvious and it is reflected in the way they look, right?
also this is the last movie you should cast pretty people in. margot robbie is a literal barbie doll, cathy needs to be WILD and a little evil and Mean. heathcliff needs to be deranged, not look like a popular jock. and these actors are both too old to play these characters
this casting is just so so deeply wrong for this book and i just wish hollywood understood that gothic literature adaptations and period dramas in general mean not casting people who look like they know what an iphone is. this especially would have been the perfect movie to cast messy and ugly and unknown actors in and the least suited for australian hollywood a-listers who have picture perfect faces and NO unhingeness or ugliness or messiness whatsoever
#i was sure i was going to be disappointed by this adaptation when i saw who was directing it#but i did not think they would ever pick actors THIS unsuited to play the lead roles#i think we all need to resign ourselves to the fact that wuthering heights will never get a proper adaptation 💔#wuthering heights

I'm still surprised that WME can't still get Meghan invites to prestigious events. Last weekend there were Balenciaga show in LA and the Academy Gala; all sorts of stars were there. The Color Purple (which Oprah produced) had a premiere a couple of weeks ago!! She only went to Variety event, and it was probably because she couldn't attend last year; even there she couldn't pics with the A-Lister (Margot Robie! Greta Gerwig! were there). She also didn't go to any of the fashion week. Why do you think that is? You mentioned that Baby2Baby gala, which apparently people have to pay? They couldn't afford that or wrangle a freebie invite?
When she attended the Variety event it was confirmed that she was not on the official guest list. She attended as her agents +1.
My best guess is that she isn't invited to events because if Hollywood and the society sets know 1 thing about her it's that she isn't discrete.
She can't be trusted in areas where people are extremely protective of their privacy.

I’ll use my parents as a yardstick. They are true boomers and immigrants and out of the six avengers, they only know RDJ by name.
Neither of my parents particularly like RDJ because they basically know him as guy who was in jail once (sorry Robert) and Ironman. But they do know him.
They know Chris E and Scarlett J by face but not so much by name. I think cap and black widow are more familiar to them and they are not American so they remember the character names and not the actor names.
I would say off the top of my head: true a listers are Brad, Leo, Tom, Angelina, Will Smith, Harrison Ford, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Meryl, Julia.
Because even without their last names being mentioned, I’m sure 98% of you know who I’m referring to. And so will Gen X, Boomers, and maybe even our grandparents generation.
I’m sorry, this will upset many of you, but Margot and Pedro are not true A list either. Despite the big year they have had, and Ryan Gosling, it’s going to be a few more years before I would have that convo. Emma stone too. For the younger generation yes, but I would argue some people know Scarlett and Chris E more than they do Emma stone or Pedro. Winning awards does not make you A list either. You are respected, yes, but how many Emmy and Oscar winners and nominees are actually unknown by many of the GP? It’s a complicated conversation.
I think people have a false perception of who’s hot right now and trending means they’re A list. But a true A lister doesn’t always have to trend and doesn’t even always have to have an actively hot career. They could more or less go into retirement and or just making alcohol (hi George Clooney) but still be on the tips of people’s tongues.
I do think Chris was getting to the point of pretty A list in 2019. That was a huge year for him and I think he defied a lot of expectations and when I realized my parents knew his face and who he was that was a big step. But he’s not a true A list, nope.
BUT it does not mean he is C list.
I have to agree with all that you said. I’m not sure who is the latest crop of A listers. I think Jennifer Lawrence was on her way. But I don’t see any of them having the “power” that the celebrities of the early 2000s had.
In my job I have so many different age groups, and some will know Marvel, but not the actor. Some won’t know either. I think currently our media is oversaturated. We have a younger generation who influencers are their celebrities.

SAG-AFTRA is a union of 160,000 members, so please don’t focus on the ‘A-lister money grabbing’ dialogue that will be spun by the studios. they are joining the WGA union of 11,000 to make sure that all people in the unions receive fair pay. it’s not Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie wanting more money, it’s the actor who’s had three lines in this movie and two lines in his previous and no speaking lines in his first two movies. it’s saving background actors from being reconstructed in other films utilising AI (and thus being intellectual property of the studio, not the original actor) to save the cost of extras.

Here’s an article that mentions Reese and how her having a production company could be a factor
https://twitter.com/vanityfair/status/1684008154688888833?s=46&t=f2glyhD4qVrBP_i4abNJ9A
Thank you!
This last paragraph where they mention Reese, JLaw, and Margot is a little strange—
Other A-list talent may not want to be seen on the picket lines because they’re also running production companies—à la Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, Jennifer Lawrence’s Excellent Cadaver, or Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap, which just produced mega-hit Barbie. “The real place the A-listers can help is donating to relief funds and lobbying the studio heads behind the scenes,” one agent told Variety. Looks like Johnson already got the memo.
It pivots from discussing these three people’s conflict of interest to an implication that they’re doing the most behind-the-scenes. Um we don’t know that, the notion that A-listers should hide out is wrong-headed anyway, and it’s possible that some of these people identify more as owners of the means of production?

'“Barbenheimer” is officially here, and the battle between the bomb and the bombshell is about to ignite the box office.
Greta Gerwig’s cotton candy-colored “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie as the plastic, fantastic doll, is expected to generate a huge $95 million to $110 million from 4,200 North American theaters over the weekend. Given the omnipresence of “Barbie” (the marketing is practically inescapable, with enough memes and marketing tie-ins to last a lifetime), initial estimates are all over the place. Warner Bros. is projecting a more conservative $75 million to start, while rivals and exhibitors believe the PG-13 movie could make as much as $140 million between Friday and Sunday.
In any case, “Barbie” will claim the top spot over Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb drama “Oppenheimer,” which is aiming to collect a solid $50 million from 3,600 cinemas through Sunday. Universal is backing the R-rated historical biopic, which cost $100 million.
“Oppenheimer” runs at three hours (“Barbie” clocks in at just under two), which may limit the screenings per day. However, Nolan’s epic will benefit from premium large format screens like Imax, which is dedicating its entire footprint to his film for three weeks.
Together, the seemingly different blockbusters with twin release dates are fueling the phenomenon known as “Barbenheimer.” AMC Theatres, the nation’s biggest cinema chain, reported that 40,000 people have already purchased tickets for double features of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” on the same day — up 20,000 from last week.
The $145 million-budgeted “Barbie” stars too many A-listers to name, but we’ll give it a shot: Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Helen Mirren, John Cena and Will Ferrell round out the cast of the fantasy comedy, which follows Barbie and Ken as they leave the comfort and familiarity of Barbie-Land on a quest for self-discovery in the real world.
“Oppenheimer,” adapted by Nolan from the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus,” is an equally star-studded character study about theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. Cillian Murphy plays the man who led the development of the atomic bomb, alongside an ensemble of Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh and Alden Ehrenreich.
The potent combination of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” as well as last weekend’s champion “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” is expected to fuel one of the biggest box office weekends in ages. Summer season has otherwise produced a string of underperforming options, like “The Flash,” “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.”
Tom Cruise’s newest “Mission” looks to add $28 million to $30 million in its second weekend of release, a decline of roughly 50% from its debut. The seventh installment in Paramount and Skydance’s globe-trotting action franchise opened to $56 million in North America and $234 million globally. It cost $291 million before marketing, so Ethan Hunt’s latest death-defying adventure needs to remain a draw throughout the summer to justify that price tag.
Elsewhere, the unlikely box office hit “Sound of Freedom” is imminently crossing the $100 million mark, which will put the film among the top 16 highest grossing of the year. The low-budget, faith-based movie about child sex trafficking has generated a remarkable $85.7 million to date. That’s thanks mostly to the religious and conservative media groups that have rallied behind the film.
Paul Dergarabedian, a senior Comscore analyst, calls “Barbenheimer” a “movie marketers dream come true.” He adds that the craze is “creating a rising tide of interest that should also boost the fortunes of ‘MI7’ and ‘Sound of Freedom’ as moviegoers flood the multiplex in search of movies to catch on the big screen.”'

Daniel Ricciardo gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at his preparations for the Met Gala - where he caused a stir when he met Anne Hathaway Ricciardo does behind-the-scenes Met Gala video F1 superstar says he was out of his comfort zone Aussie made sure custom suit had space for hip flask By James Cooney For Daily Mail Australia Published: 06:16 BST, 4 May 2023 | Updated: 06:16 BST, 4 May 2023 Aussie F1 star Daniel Ricciardo made a surprise appearance at the Met Gala red carpet on Tuesday - and now he's giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at his preparations for the iconic event. The 33-year-old reserve driver for Red Bull rubbed shoulders with celebrities on fashion's most famous red carpet, which was celebrating iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld. Ricciardo sent social media wild with his unexpected appearance at the glamourous event, arriving alone in a stylish Thom Browne three-piece tuxedo and flashing his signature grin. Iconic fashion magazine Vogue put together a video of the eight-time race winner suiting up, where he revealed he was surprisingly nervous about attending. 'You know that expression, "It ain't my first rodeo?" Ricciardo asks in the clip. Vogue magazine put together a video of the eight-time race winner getting ready for the iconic event, where he revealed he was surprisingly nervous about attending 'It actually is my first rodeo.' 'It's funny, because I feel I should get more nervous before a race,' he said. '[But] this certainly feels like I'm stepping out of my comfort zone.' Thom Browne’s Jonathon Zadrzynski was on hand to help Ricciardo get dressed, and told the Aussie that Browne himself was looking forward to him stepping out in his look. 'He (Thom Browne) is really excited about the classic but comfortable look you bring to your style,' Zadrzynski told Ricciardo. Ricciardo explains in the clip that it was important for the suit to have a pocket for him to carry a hip flask. 'When we were going through the jacket, I was like "does it have a place for my hip flask?'" he smiled. The Aussie was then off to the event, navigating fans and photographers skillfully. Afterwards while on the red carpet eagle-eyed fans spotted Ricciardo taking a quick glance at Hollywood A-lister Anne Hathaway as he awaited his picture. Ricciardo's appearance at Met Gala came as a shock to many after he said the event was too 'formal' for him in a podcast after fellow driver Lewis Hamilton was invited to the exclusive bash in 2021. 'After seeing some of the images, not really. Look, I mean, the way some of the fashion is now, I think you probably could get away with that,' he said. Cinemacon: The Next Generation
I have to say, PR or no PR stunt, I care not:
Glen and Sydney owned Sony Night. They made Margot and Ryan look bland and dare I say a wee bit old for the roles they’re playing, and I literally have not seen anyone talking about JLaw’s movie.
I suspect there are quite a few Hollywood A-Listers truly thinking “Anyone But You” and not with a smile on their faces.

The Sparkling Smile of Margot Robbie: The Secret Behind Her Perfect Teeth
Margot Robbie, the Australian actress known for her roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, Harley Quinn, and most recently Barbie, is a dazzling presence on screen. From her acting talent to her style, there's no doubt that she shines in every way possible. But if there’s one thing that never goes unnoticed, it's her radiant smile. Her teeth have become somewhat of a talking point in Hollywood—perfectly aligned, pearly white, and, well, flawless! But what’s the secret behind Margot Robbie’s teeth? Are they all-natural, or has there been a bit of Hollywood magic involved?
The Allure of the Hollywood Smile
Hollywood has long been obsessed with perfect smiles. Ever wondered why? Well, teeth are one of the first things people notice about you. In a world where everything is larger-than-life, a sparkling smile can work wonders. That’s why countless stars invest heavily in dental work, aiming for that flawless, camera-ready look. Naturally, Margot Robbie’s teeth fall into this category. But here’s the million-dollar question: Are Margot Robbie's teeth natural, or have they been professionally enhanced?
Natural or Not? The Curious Case of Margot Robbie’s Teeth
It’s easy to assume that celebrities always have some cosmetic tricks up their sleeves. After all, we often see dramatic before-and-after transformations in Hollywood. But when it comes to Margot Robbie’s teeth, there’s not much evidence of major dental work. So, what gives?
While some speculate that she may have undergone teeth whitening treatments (a common practice among A-listers), there are no signs of veneers or significant dental alterations. Robbie's teeth appear straight, symmetrical, and beautifully natural, which only adds to her overall appeal.
In a world full of cosmetic enhancements, the fact that Margot Robbie’s teeth may be predominantly natural is quite refreshing!
Teeth Whitening: A Celebrity’s Best Friend
Now, let’s talk about teeth whitening—probably one of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures. Teeth whitening has been rumored to be Margot Robbie’s secret weapon for that stunning smile of hers. Unlike more invasive treatments, it’s a relatively simple process, but it can have a dramatic effect. And you don’t have to be a Hollywood star to do it! Teeth whitening kits are available almost everywhere now.
However, it’s important to note that the right balance is key. You wouldn’t want your teeth to look so unnaturally white that they could blind someone! It’s all about finding the right shade, and clearly, Margot’s smile nails it.
Taking Care of Your Pearly Whites Like Margot Robbie
So, how can you get teeth as stunning as Margot Robbie’s? Well, you might not have a Hollywood dentist on speed dial, but there are some things you can do to keep your teeth in tip-top shape:
Brush and Floss Regularly: It might sound simple, but you’d be amazed at how many people skip this basic step.
Teeth Whitening: Whether at the dentist’s office or with at-home kits, whitening treatments can brighten your smile.
Avoid Staining Foods: Coffee, wine, and certain foods can cause stains. Cutting down on these can help maintain that bright smile.
Regular Dental Check-Ups: Keeping up with your dentist can prevent long-term issues and ensure your teeth stay healthy.
What Dental Experts Say About Celebrity Teeth
According to dental experts, teeth like Margot Robbie’s don’t happen by accident. Even if her teeth are mostly natural, a rigorous dental care routine is essential. Teeth whitening treatments, along with good dental hygiene, can go a long way in achieving that celebrity-level smile. Moreover, professional cleanings and perhaps the occasional polishing help ensure that her smile is always ready for the red carpet.
Margot Robbie’s Smile: A Trademark of Confidence
Margot Robbie’s teeth are more than just aesthetically pleasing—they’re a trademark of her confidence. A bright smile can transform a person’s entire aura, and in the case of Margot, it certainly plays a role in her screen presence. Whether she’s portraying a fierce Harley Quinn or the charming Barbie, her smile is an undeniable asset.
And here’s a fun fact: Smiling has been scientifically proven to boost mood and confidence. So, even if you’re not stepping onto a red carpet anytime soon, a genuine smile like Margot’s can still brighten your day!
Can You Get a Hollywood Smile on a Budget?
Here’s the thing: You don’t have to be a millionaire to get a beautiful smile. Sure, Margot Robbie’s teeth might be the result of top-tier dental care, but you can achieve great results without breaking the bank. Many over-the-counter products are highly effective, and with regular care, you can significantly improve your dental health.
Here are a few budget-friendly tips:
At-home Whitening Kits: These can be bought at most pharmacies and are an affordable alternative to professional whitening.
Oil Pulling: An ancient technique that involves swishing coconut oil in your mouth to remove bacteria and promote oral health.
Electric Toothbrushes: They might be a little pricier than manual toothbrushes, but they’re worth the investment for a cleaner and healthier mouth.
Conclusion
Margot Robbie’s teeth are a shining example of what proper care, a little whitening, and good genetics can do. While she may not have undergone extensive dental work, her smile is a reminder that maintaining your teeth can have a huge impact on your overall look—and confidence. You may not be a Hollywood star, but with a bit of effort, you can definitely shine like one! So, the next time you flash your smile, think of Margot Robbie. Who knows? You might just feel a little more confident!

I'm sorry, Destiny, but people like Austin and Glenn are not A-list bankable movie stars. I like Austin, but he isn't carrying a film on his back. the same goes for Glenn. Both seem really nice, and I'm a fan, but the GENERAL PUBLIC do not know who these guys are. Elvis did well, but it was Elvis and I'm sure a-lot walked away fans of Austin, but outside of fans and people who are deep in pop culture GP are not going to the cinema off his name alone.
In fact, I can only think of 2 current actors who are A-list, and that's Margot and Zendaya. The rest have a long way to go.
For me, A-list is an actor who can sell movies off name alone and forget that awards rubbish because that only increases their profile,it doesn't mean there box office.
I mean look at Timmy, he's critically loved and yes Dune and Wonka did well at the box office but 1 was an all star cast where they pushed 4 young actors down our throats for weeks, and let's be honest Zendaya ate them all up on and off screen, and Wonka is a beloved character and was always doing well, but he can't carry a film solo off name alone either. Gone are the days of Denzels,Leo's,Tom Hanks's
I'm sorry, Destiny, but people like Austin and Glenn are not A-list bankable movie stars. I like Austin, but he isn't carrying a film on his back. the same goes for Glenn. Hmmm....I think you're confusing A-List Movie Stars with just Movie Stars period. I think there's a difference. There are movie stars, and then there are the A-list. (A much smaller group) The article from THR was saying that actors like Timmy, Zendaya, Austin, Glen, etc. COULD possibly be the new A-List actors of our generation. The older generation is getting old and even dying out. So, the article was basically saying that these aforementioned actors (among others) have promise at being the "new A-List". And tbh, maybe they probably are part of the A-list for their generation? What other actors out there are doing all that they're doing right now all at the same time? Getting award nominations, winning awards, getting major roles, working with excellent directors, getting scripts thrown their way all the time, doing biopics, getting great box office film successes? I mean, I'm just saying...maybe THR article had a point?? Compare them to say someone like Theo James, or Dylan O'Brien, or Nicholas Hoult. I'm just saying!
The BBC article on the other hand was basically just stating that these aforementioned actors are possibly the new "movie stars" that we've come to know from the past. It didn't really talk about "bankability" or view that as the ONLY barometer in which to measure a movie star. Some people have "star quality" even before they really make it super famous. It's just a feeling that you get about an actor when you see them onscreen. I can't explain it. They just command attention.
Another thing to keep in mind: An actor btw can be an A-list actor, and also have some FLOPS. I think people forget this? Tom Cruise for example, he's a household name...definitely an A-list "Movie Star" actor. But he's ALSO had quite a bit of flops in his career! "Knight and Day", "Oblivion", "Edge of Tomorrow", "Valkyrie", need I go on??
In fact, outside of Top Gun: Maverick and his Mission Impossible films, can we really say that Tom Cruise has had much of a hit lately? 🤔
So I think you need to lessen so much attention on Box office and whether or not that makes you an A-lister. It's when you're a household name that makes you an A-lister...whether every film you do is a "hit" or not imo. I think having your films do well at the box office are GREAT, and that def factors into it, but also so do award wins and nominations (don't discredit them also! It gives you exposure to more people knowing your name as well). But you don't ALWAYS have to have films doing tons of money at the box office in order to be seen as an "A-lister". Not everyone flocks to all of Tom Cruise's movies, or even Denzel's movies. Sometimes it's just the movie!
Anyway, I think the Elvis movie along with all of his award wins definitely catapulted Austin into the A-list category... Especially for being a no-name prior to that film coming out. If anything, he's certainly B-list by now. Glen as well is definitely on his way to becoming an A-lister and certainly a movie star if he plays his cards right, and his film "Twisters" hasn't even come out yet. People are seeing something in him too. You need to give these people time. If articles are being written up about them, it's because people are seeing SOMETHING about them that reminds them of the Movie Stars of the past! 😊
Even Tom, Denzel, Leo, and Hanks weren't sensations overnight. It took TIME. It sometimes took even just one pivotal role.
In fact, I can only think of 2 current actors who are A-list, and that's Margot and Zendaya. The rest have a long way to go.
I really don't think Timmy, Austin, Glen, etc. have a "long way to go" honestly. If they keep playing their cards right, they have a VERY good chance! People are already seeing something in them. That's the point. To me, a lot of them are becoming household names. You're witnessing the birth of a Movie Star....that's basically it lol. People are sensing it, and if they each all play their cards right, then they will definitely be going places imo.
Timmy is already pretty much "A-list" if you ask me. Oscar-nominee, has been in 3 huge films that did well at the box office. He's led several films. He's worked with big-name directors. People pretty much know his name. He might not be Leo status (YET), but it was also a different time back then with Leo's rise to fame. Times have changed, so we might never see the exact same type of movie star of times past.
I mean look at Timmy, he's critically loved and yes Dune and Wonka did well at the box office but 1 was an all star cast where they pushed 4 young actors down our throats for weeks, and let's be honest Zendaya ate them all up on and off screen,
I'm sorry, but what??
I mean, I love Z and all (love her to death), but I wouldn't say she "ate" the other 3 up onscreen in that Dune Part 2 movie lol. 😅🤣
But we can all agree to disagree! 🤷🏾♀️
and Wonka is a beloved character and was always doing well, but he can't carry a film solo off name alone either. Gone are the days of Denzels,Leo's,Tom Hanks's
And you're basing that on what exactly?? Which film? His Bob Dylan biopic hasn't even come out yet. And you keep ignoring the Dune franchise AND Wonka box office successes (interesting), even though they made a ton of money. What's next?? If the Bob Dylan biopic does well you're gonna say that this also doesn't count because it's a "biopic" and it would have done well regardless?? 🤔
Look, it's okay if you don't like Timmy, but to me, it seems that the goalposts keep moving depending on who we're talking about here. 👀
