"She said your body looks to me a way it never has before
And is this what's making you so sad?
And I can't do this anymore"
I love how Mal Blum doesn't shy away from complicated family/social dynamics. You can feel the conflicting emotions and grief. It's very relatable and heartbreaking.
I've had this song stuck in my head all week and have been meaning to post about it.
“And I found religion in a dirty bathroom stall
In the back of a liquor store, in that mini mall and
You found religion when you realized you could fall”

Father - HappyHappy
"And I know you know all about Victoria
And I know you know everything I was keeping secret"
There is something so raw about a parent knowing something so personal and deciding to deny it and pretend it doesn't exist. Sometimes kids have no good options and they deal with it the best they can.

It's Okay to Be Sick - The Hirs Collective
"If you have the ability
Take it day by day
Take care of yourself
And ask us if you need anything"
In honor of Disability Pride Month. I know it's late but my own disability was disabling me.
I highly recommend looking into The Hirs Collective for some hard hitting punk music. They are an amazing queercore supergroup.

Daffodil - Sister Wife Sex Strike
"Daffodil has a dick and it's bigger than you"
What a great way to start a song.

Lola - The Raincoats
"L-O-L-A Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo Lola"
This song is constantly stuck in my head. The original by the Kinks is also fantastic and catchy.
*please note this song was originally written in 1970 and was very progressive for the time. The Kinks had a lot of pushback when it was originally released.
