Guess who's having ANOTHER au thought (because I cannot be stopped)

Ok so the premise is simple.

A 17 year old 2012 Leo ends up in the Riseverse due to a portal mishap

Well more specifically he ends up in the Hidden City.

Completely alone in a new environment in a new dimension, how wonderful.

He's just in time to watch as a then Human Lou Jitsu is carried to Draxum's lab. And well Leonardo couldnt just leave that alone. He follows the gargoyles to the lab.

Because something is about to go down, and he's not gonna let that happen.

By the time Leo breaks into the lab and enters the main chamber, four baby turtles are about to be mutated.

He fights with Draxum, releasing Lou Jitsu in the process.

However Draxum quickly grows to realize that Leonardo is EXACTLY the kind of mutant warrior he was trying to create.

Why use a human to make more warriors when there is a mutant RIGHT THERE for the picking.

Besides, Leonardo is younger than Lou Jitsu and a younger donor would last much longer.

So Leonardo gets put in the machine

And the four baby turtles get mutated using Leonardo's DNA.

The lab ends up on fire and collapses like in canon (and Lou Jitsu ends up mutated into a rat like canon)

Leonardo flees the burning lab, with four crying baby mutant turtles in his arms.

Once he's out of the Hidden City he takes to the sewers immediately.

He wraps the babies in an old blanket he found along the way and collapses soon after.

These are HIS kids arent they?

He's only 17 and now he has four kids!

Four teeny tiny kids (the biggest one is smaller than his palm)

What is he gonna do?

He can't raise four infants alone! (He doesn't know what happened to that action star guy, he could faintly hear him scream over the falling rubble and the fire, but Leo was too focused on getting the babies to safety to care at that moment)

He forces himself to calm down, its fine...everything will be fine!

His family will find him (explaining why he suddenly is a father of four will not be fun but he can handle that.) And then everything will be fine.

Days turn to weeks.

Weeks turn to months.

Its almost a year since the lab fire.

The babies are all walking and talking at various levels (The softshell is already starting to learn how to read) getting into everything and full of energy.

Leonardo is so scared.

Its been a year and there hasnt been any contact from his family, no one has come for him. Were they even looking for him?

It takes another couple of months for his hope to fade. He was really stuck here wasnt he? Surely his family would've found him by now?

By year three he knows that no one is coming for him. All he can do now is raise his sons to the best of his ability. Keep them safe and loved, train them to become ninjas like his father before him.

Now 13 years since the lab fire, Leonardo at age 30, is a father to four teenage mutant ninja turtles of his own. Everything is fine

At least until his sons come home with new weapons, millions of dangerous insects released in New York and an old enemy returning to recapture his experiments.

Leonardo will not let that happen. He will protect his children even if it costs him his life.

Meanwhile its only been five months in his home dimension, his still teenage brothers completely oblivious to everything that is happening to their missing eldest brother.

Hey fellow neurodivergent writers,

Am I the only one who takes a lot more time to write for assignments compared to neurotypicals?

Writing by myself about things I'm passionate about, such as this post, don't take as much time and effort to do. I can easily flow through it and get 10-15 paragraphs in.

However, it's the complete opposite for writing assignments. Things forced onto you by others.

It's not like theres a neatly organized worksheet with a step-by-step process and clear directions given to you. You're all on your own to do everything, and I hate that.

It takes an insane amount of energy, time, and motivation for me to finish even one paragraph. If I'm writing fiction, I need time to think about what's happening now, what's coming next, and how the character is perceiving it. I need to think about voice, word choice, grammar, paragraph length, and how the reader is perceiving all of this. I'm trying to be 3 different people at once while simultaneously trying to make a good story.

It's a lot to process as is, but the writing process for just 3 pages takes days/weeks for me to complete, and sessions can take hours because I need extra time to process what's going on in my writing.

Even still, papers and due dates stack up. I have to repeat this whole process 3 or 4 times per workload. I'm constantly overworking my brain to get them done within a week so I don't disappoint my teachers and experience crushing guilt.

And then, on top of that, due date stack-ups STACK UP TOO.

And that's just for fiction. (Well, the due dates arent just fiction)

Nonfiction demands that you are accurate and 100% truthful. Reports demand a certian format. They demand extra citing for each and every single one of those sentences that took me 15 minutes to complete and move on from.

Neurotypical teachers even make it clear that they're aware due dates are stacking up, and this will determine "who's ready to prove they can do more and who's not," which given my previous points, is debatable ableist.

Neurotypical students seem to just write and write and get paragraphs of work done within 30 minutes. They don't deal with this haze of overstimulation and are able to get whole pages out in one block. Writing half of that takes me a whole block, and in Times New Roman 12pt font, I can get a fourth of a page done in a block.

I came to an arts school because I needed a safe place to be. I got in because I was good at writing. Now, I just want to leave the writing department. This is all too much and no one around me seems to understand that.

It makes me want to stop being human even more. Humans think this is the answer to everything, this is how you get education to get jobs to get money to get a house and food and to survive. You have to do it, theres no other way. Work for mankind so you can survive it. Stay in your lane. Don't do anything you aren't supposed to.

Then I look outside at the birds. They're free, their species didnt chose to make everyone do work, they can fly wherever they want and they're never wrong for being in space. Why can't we be more like birds? (And to bird therians/kins out there, I wish we could all be free like we're meant to be.)

Is there a free or cheap way to take pdfs and epubs and switch the font, eg to open dyslexic?

I have access to three different digital libraries and somehow none of them have what I want to read. And I own physical copies of books that Im struggling to read despite really wanting to. I know about audiobooks, theyre a whole different sensory experience, and I read way faster with my eyes. I dont have kindle, I dont want to have to buy books. idk if most ebooks even have the option to change fonts. If thats an easy solution I could look into it I guess. Cause Ive found some free epubs but they arent editable, I cant change the font.

another incredibly upsetting thing about endos that they've promoted themselves everywhere. not even only at systems' spaces, but in every fucking neurodivergent space (and even other, like queer spaces).

on 'how to be perfect' - mike schur

those of us familiar with mike schurs work (specifically the good place,) are familiar with his writing style. in the good place, one thing i admired was that he was able to tackle complex topics like morals and ethical philosophy with a humorous outlook, and explain all the contradictions to different theories without giving me a headache. i came upon his book by accident- i was looking for some oxford textbook and i recognised a familiar font on the shelf. i flipped through a few pages and noticed mike schurs name on the cover, and so i bought it.

at first glance, the title, 'how to be perfect' sounds a bit overpromising for a book thats only about 200 pages or so, but thats partially the point of the book- there is no guide on how to actually be perfect, and the book explains how attempting to be perfect all the time will lead to moral exhaustion (a term schur coins in the book). part of me was expecting some poor quality ghostwritten overview of ethics (as other celebrities have written some books before that... arent that great,) but WOW, did mike schur deliver.

the good place was mentioned only a few times- it was more of an interactive guide to ethical philosophy's basics (so if you're looking for more good place content, probably not the place to find it) instead, there were chapters named "do i have to return my shopping cart to the shopping cart rack thingy?" and other ethical questions that actually affect modern lives. schur takes aristotles theory of virtue ethics, kants theory of the categorical imperative, and utilitarianism as just few ethical lenses to answer the various questions he poses, and explains the flaws and imperfections of almost all of these theories. 'what we owe to each other' by scanlon, which good place viewers will remember being referenced MANY times in the series, is also discussed, and mikes advocacy for scanlons pov is explained.

while the book starts off talking about grocery carts and supporting artists who've done bad things, and lying about a friends ugly shirt, schur dives deeper into ethics and tackles the hard questions, such as how much we actually owe to those around us, what to do when theres so much bad in the world, and if being a good person in a world where there really is no accurate measure of goodness or true obligation to be good is even worth it.

i personally think 'how to be perfect' was a great book for anyone looking to get started in ethical philosophy, as it provides an excellent easy to comprehend guide to the main 3 schools of ethical thought, and is written as if you're having a casual conversation. its entertaining and a wonderful primer to ethic philosophy. even if you're not interested in ethics, or philosophy, or don't even care about being a good person, it's still a good read- and has the potential to change your life.

i honestly think its baffling that to this idea you cannot easily change the font, font size and colours on websites. this should be such an easy accessability feature that simply isnt available, even though so many different people could benefit from it.

while there is the option to zoom, it doesnt help with font or colour choices.

and whats with this strange occurance the full titles of videos, articles, images, products etc arent shown? why are there so many different websites where half the words are cut off?

#prev tags #one of the things that annoyed me when I was working as editor for my university newspaper is that according to AP style guidelines #we weren’t allowed to include accents even if the word was in a different language #and as someone who uses Spanish both on the internet and in my writing it’s really annoying #so I can’t imagine what it must feel like for people whose languages they basically have to cut and paste #like I’ve been writing my thesis and a big part of it has to do with certain Indigenous peoples and #not only is it difficult to write the characters but it’s also difficult to find proper spellings of the words I need in the first place

@woodswaspsandwords HELLO????? that is fucking . batshit! and its so disgusting and self-centered bc these people just dont think theyre shooting themselves in the foot the way they Obviously Are because they think accented letters/special characters "arent that important" as if theyre not like. massively important to pronunciation and to other languages basic alphabets. not even to mention how it rules out the entire use of languages with fully non-latin alphabets

ive been running into this recently more because of doing the chikashanompa site project, and it can partly be got around because its a language that fully has no official written version, but i was recently trying to track down the different characters for the accented letters used in the pronunciation guides in the dictionaries (a̧ o̧ i̧ ǐ ǔ - & one i literally cant even find as a unicode character thats like two Os with a swoop over them) and it was a pain in the ass especially to use them in the coding environment of neocities.

and on the site im trying to include the uniskript one of the speakers & teachers proposed in a ebook she did, and i had to buy the 9$ font pack + 1$ font pack keyboard layout pdf and it can only be used on the site with the font installed. technology advances and becomes more and more limited and more and more anglocentric. i have no idea how much the cherokee nation had to do to get the ᏣᎳᎩ ᎦᏬᏂᎯᏍᏗ syllabary added to unicode font so people can even copy and paste it between websites
