yeah so anyways women PLEASE prioritize your safety first in situations like these! i don’t care if it makes you look weird, uncaring, unempathetic, overreactive, mean, rude, racist etc in the moment!!!
women are socialized from childhood to suppress our natural fear of (esp) men at the expense of our own safety. it’s okay to still hold your empathy for a person going through what’s clearly a mental episode while also not forcing yourself to sit next to a mentally unstable man as some sort of way to prove that you’re different, more tolerant, more enlightened, whatever. women get hurt by men ALL THE TIME in public. it’s okay to be cautious and LEAVE any situation of necessary.
this post is not to criticize or come for the creator who stitched the original video. i just want women out there to know that your safety comes first ALWAYS. don’t let your first reaction be to empathize with a strange (as in someone you don’t know) man who is acting unpredictably and erratically. that can your second, third, maybe even hundredth reaction once you’ve physically gotten the hell away from what could turn out to be a potentially dangerous situation.

Does anyone else hate the types of males who are so socially inept and pathetic that they wanna be all like ahh uwu I'm so shy and awkward and can't even say a fucking word but women are expected to be super sympathetic for them? Male coworkers of mine is a large and tall dude who literally will say out loud how awkward he is and is just always so fucking socially anxious around me (I definitely feel it's because I'm a woman and he rarely is around other women). And he's older than me by a few years (I'm 20 soon to be 21), and he still plays the whole gaaah why can't I socialize. >_< (Also, ofc he started crushing on me when we barely even talked when I started working at my job) He's into weeb shit and his moe blob shit and OFC is also thinking of trooning out because he's not mwasculine enough when he's a whole 6'2 large ass man. And his best friend, who is my roommate (financially needed a third roommate), isn't as pathetically gross about it, but he's a TIM and into similar stuff like his friend (also reads a lot of yuri which is ugh..) He's not awful for a TIM but I hate how he's also so socially awkward and is quiet and won't speak up, won't start conversations with me, expects me to know what he wants like making room for him on the couch but won't say it. But of course, he can be much more talkative with other males. I fucking hate and am getting disgusted by these types of shy/socially inept males when they interact with women. They disgust me.

Lesbian feminism’s negative valuation of butch-fem communities also seems to be a response to the explicit sexuality these communities expressed through butchfem roles. From the beginning, lesbian feminists tended to downplay sexuality between women in an attempt to free lesbians from the stigma of sexual deviance. They separated lesbians from gay men, primarily with respect to the place of sexual expression in men’s and women’s lives. This trend, which became fully elaborated in the 1980s, was central to the identity around which lesbian-feminist politics was built and to the debates that developed around sexuality throughout the entire feminist movement.
In 1980 and 1981, the publication of two works had a powerful impact on the shape of lesbian feminism and on research about lesbian history, Adrienne Rich’s “Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence” and Lillian Faderman’s Surpassing the Love of Men. Both works privileged passionate and loving relationships over specifically sexual relationships in defining lesbianism and explicitly separated lesbian history from gay-male history. Rich’s work is not intended to be an historical study; nevertheless, it proposes a framework for lesbian history. She establishes a “lesbian continuum” that consists of woman-identified resistance to patriarchal oppression throughout history. The lesbian transcends time periods and cultures in her common links to all women who have dared to affirm themselves as activists, warriors, or passionate friends. The place of sexuality in this resistance is not specified and the butch-fem lesbian communities of the twentieth century, because of their use of gender roles, are considered, at best, marginal to women’s long history of resistance to patriarchy. Thus, in this formative work for lesbian feminism, the only group of women in history willing to explicitly acknowledge their erotic interest in women are not central to the definition of lesbian.
from Boots of Leather, Slippers of Gold: The History of a Lesbian Community by Elizabeth Lapovsky Kennedy & Madeline D. Davis (2nd ed, 2014; originally published 1994)

posting here so I don't fucking lose it at the people in the replies and qrts who are acting like a large percentage of women who don't wear makeup are misogynistic about it. Personally I have never met anyone like that in real life however I have been told to wear makeup in a college class!!

i find it crazy how comfortable Men™ are yelling and taking out their anger physically on objects. im listening to my younger brother screaming at his video game in a way I’ve only screamed by myself in my car.
if I ever took out my anger by screaming and hitting things, I would be called hysterical and used as proof to why women are ‘so emotional’.

thinking about fallout 4 against my will
#random thoughts#fallout#unfortunately nora compels me#the fact the 'hi honey!' tape specifically mentions her 'shaking the dust off' her law degree is interesting#like she gave up her job to stay at home with her husband and kid. why?#like that's a whole year. at LEAST.#love the idea of nate pressuring her into it <3 maternity leave turns into 'isnt it so nice being with sean around the clock?'#'too bad you won't have this quality time when you return to work'#turns into 'you can always return to work if you feel like it but we DO have a lot saved up . . .'#and it's like. okay so fallout 4 would be so much better if it were set in the 1960s. literally no reason it shouldnt be#yknow beyond complying with lore which. it isnt that faithful to in the first place#i just think it's weird the game is like 'here's the FUTURE' and then it's like 'here's the FUTURE FUTURE'#anyway make it the 1960s. give me time-appropriate fucked up family dynamics#and nora's a laywer and a feminist who promised herself she'd never compromise her career for a man#and nate seemed so NICE and like he understood until uh oh. frog in a slow cooker#and he makes everything seem like it's her idea until she's barefoot in the kitchen with a screaming baby on her hip and burnt food in a pan#and she doesn't even realize she's trapped until it's too late. isolated from friends and family#idk ill do more research later to make it more time-accurate (ESPECIALLY interested in second-wave feminism)#anyway i think she cheats. with a door-to-door salesman selling places in the bomb shelters#(honestly probably the only adult social interaction she's had in weeks beyond her husband)#i like to think at some point she had a bit of a car accident due to the stress so nate took her keys#probably just a minor fender bender he blew out of proportion but she believes it because oh god what if she hurt sean#her feelings toward sean are complicated. i dont think she quite loves him which she feels guilty about so she overcompensates#with trying to keep him as safe as possible and she feels like he KNOWS and HATES her#(honestly when the bombs drop everything happens so quickly and when she's in the future and registers sean's gone she feels. so relieved)#(followed by heavy shame)#nate sabotaged her birth control btw. love evil 1960s patriarchs#never outright stated but heavily implied!#anyway nora in the future (while she felt very progressive for her time) feels very out of place#like her ideals have no place. like she has no place

Oh no... tomorrow is women's day. Which means everyone will see me as a "woman" before a person and congratulate me (???) and use the date that should represent a endless fight for rights to sell and gain money.
I hate so much this. March 8th should be about remembering the struggles that women got through to be here. The many people before us that gave us all a better life and the path that we still have to go.
I don't identify as woman anymore, but feminism is still my fight, and it makes me so icky how capitalism turns this date to a "holiday" so companies can get more money, and how men act around this date, and how people congratulate others for being a woman. It also doesn't help that being constantly referred as woman makes my insides twist lol
Anyways. Fuck capitalism. Remember the feminist fight, don't let tomorrow and the significance of the date get washed as "holiday".
