Prompt 1 - Steam Room

It was Remus’s job to go into the men’s steam room and collect the discarded dressing gowns and towels. Then he had to wipe everything down. Thankfully, he was allowed to wear gloves or else he wouldn’t do it. It always amazed Remus how many of the men just walked out of there without their gowns and how many chose to be butt naked.

There wasn’t supposed to be anyone in the steam room he was supposed to be cleaning, but when he pushed the heavy door open, a raven-haired man was lounging along the tiled bench, one leg flat, the other bent and giving Remus an unobstructed view of his uncovered groin.

“Oh, sorry,” he spluttered as he turned around. “I must have the wrong room. I thought I was cleaning this one, sorry,” he apologised as he tried to exit the steam room.

“No, it’s my fault. I saw this one was empty, and I couldn’t resist the chance to enjoy one on my own for a change. Sometimes there are too many knobs in a room for my liking,” the man said. “I can leave if you want,” Remus turned back around.

“I can clean around you, and I can leave the cleaning in progress sign up until you’re done,” Remus said. The man gave him a huge smile in return.

“You sir, are my new best friend.” The man tilted his head back and relaxed into the eucalyptus-imbued steam. Remus got to work, and soon the only thing left was the tiles under and around the naked man.

“Erm, sorry to disturb you again, but I need to, erm…” He gestured towards the bench. The man’s face split into a crooked smile as he slowly stood and waved his hand for Remus to proceed.

“So do you ever use the steam rooms then?” the man asked.

“Not a chance,” Remus blurted out before his brain could catch up. “Er, what I mean is, no, the steam rooms aren’t my thing,” the stranger cocked his head.

“No, no, say what you were going to say,” the man urged him and Remus didn’t know why, but he did as he was asked.

“The amount of fat, sweaty men I’ve seen plonk their hairy arses down on these sides is enough to make me gip when I think of putting my bare skin on them. That’s why I wear gloves when I clean.” The man grimaced and grabbed the towel hung up behind him before wrapping it low around his waist.

“Well thank you for that beautiful image, er, sorry I didn’t catch your name.”

“Remus,” he said with a grin.

“Sirius,” Sirius bobbed his head in greeting. “I’m sure we’ll meet again.” And he opened the door and left Remus in the now clean steam room.

When he went to clock out after his shift, Mary at the desk handed him a card.

“The boss left this for you. He told me to tell you to phone him,” She slid a small business card over the counter to Remus. Remus had never met the boss, so he had no idea why he’d want to speak to him. He picked up the card and flipped it over. It read, ‘Sirius. O. Black. CEO Star Spas’. Remus’s eyes widened, and he left the building without another word.

He waited until he was back home and, with a trembling hand, slowly dialled the number. Sirius answered on the first ring.

“Remus, what a pleasant surprise.”
