            Smoke trailed up into the cold air. The campfire crackled, its orange light wavering over the Imperial’s unsure face.

            “I’m a soldier, I’ve only ever followed orders, but now that I’m this…” Anthony looked confused, unsure himself what the word fully meant, “dragonborn, they look to me to lead, and I don’t know if I can.”

            Lydia sat beside him on the fallen log, watching him.

            His head sunk with a sigh. “I’m sorry to burden you with all of this.”

            “I told you, I don’t mind carrying your burdens.”

            He looked up to her through narrowed eyes. “That’s not exactly what you said.”

            “Well…” she glanced away, something shy in her stoic face, “it’s what I’m saying now.”

            His head lifted, surprised.

            “Maybe I was mad at first,” an edge in her voice began sharpening as it went, “that the gods would choose not a Nord on not the Nord’s side to be the Nordic hero, but…” exhaling, the edge softened, “then you risked your life to save Stormcloak farmers.”

            “Well, of course,” he looked confused, “they were people who needed help, wouldn’t anyone have-?”

            “No,” she turned to him, expression sad but warm, “and that’s why the gods chose well.”

            He stopped, surprised.

            “And you’re doing a good job leading us,” she smiled.

            Touched, he slowly smiled back.

            “Well, except for when you get us ambushed by bandits.”

            The smile dropped into a quick gape. “I knew it probably was an ambush.”

            “Uh huh,” she looked unconvinced.

            “But what if he really needed help? You can’t just walk past someone who might need help!”

            “Even when it’s probably an ambush?”

            “Like I said, it might not have been.” Catching that the fire was dwindling, he faced forward to stoke it. “And if we didn’t fall into the trap then someone else would’ve, and they might not have had weapons or an idea that it was probably an ambush. It’s our duty to protect those who can’t protect themselves, so we have to fall into traps…”

            Lydia smiled fondly as he rambled on.

i've been thinking a lot about how the dragonborn being the dragonborn might change their appearances... i had the thought of scales, claws, and fangs, also different eyes, all in all making the dragonborn look more dragon-y. my friend thought more spiritually (with horns, too!), like the armor you can shout into existence i suppose?

the true question however is, if they met the dragonborn before the first full shout (High Hrotghar) and the dragonborn ended up wearing gloves and a deep hood after, when they finally see the dragonborn, changed as they are, how will they react?

i have a few theories, for Kaidan's part i don't think he'd be too freaked out, more comforting, really. Lucien would likely ask to study the differences in dragons vs the dragonborn. Taliesin, though. somehow i imagine Tally would say something to the point of “not much worse than before”

anyway, feel free to indulge me, i'd like to hear other people's thoughts!

After 12 years I’ve come to a realization. No matter which play style, if you follow the main quest you will have to join the college of winterhold in order to proceed.

Which leads me to my conclusion:

The Dovahkiin is definitively the archmage of the college of winterhold

Ok this is just me spitballing some oc stuff now that I’ve got mods going lol

Upon their first meeting of Taliesin, Dah’ni was ready to finish the job the Talos worshippers had started. Something in them, however, kept their claws sheathed as he made his little speech. Honestly, it was quite charming, the Khajiit finding this situation to be genuinely entertaining. Dah’ni, already being an enemy of the Thalmor, figured this mer could be a good bargaining chip should the chance arise.

Taliesin was essentially held captive by Dah’ni in the beginning. The elf looking for a good time to slip away, while Dah’ni was waiting for him to inevitably betray them so they’d have an excuse to kill him (that, or give him to the Thalmor in exchange for their own safety). Obviously, that didn’t happen. Being on the road together, they actually started to bond, and Dah’ni started to sympathize with him upon learning more about his past, and Taliesin the same as Dah’ni opened up about their own self. Tally ended up becoming an invaluable companion and member to Team Dragonborn.

Dah’ni will continue to bat at him whenever he calls them kitten, that’s just an undeniable truth. To be fair, they are small and cute. That’s on them, really.
