I haven't seen 7x01, but guessing for season 7:
Rayla, about Runaan: This man is my father, I'll never leave him!
Ezran: He's her dad? I thought he was her boss. Didn't he threaten to kill her?
Callum: ...Yes, yes, and yes.

Does anyone else want to see Ezran saying hurtful things because he's having a hard time dealing with anger and pain? No? Just me?

One of my favorite choices of s7 actually comes from a single sentence.
"I can't be your high mage anymore, but I'll always be your brother"
The decision for Callum to step down from his position as high mage originally made me kind of upset but I realized that it actually makes a lot of sense. And Callum's decision to step down was actually a very mature choice, and not a rash one made in haste like I originally mistook it for. And I think that for both ez and callum's sake, he shouldn't be high mage.
Something that I noticed in episode 2, is that when Callum and ez are talking ez says "I didn't ask for this, I'm just a kid." The part about this sentence that strikes me is that ezran says that he is a kid, he had every right to say "I was just a kid" but he used present tense because he is very much a child, and he still wants to be a child. Before he was king, Callum was just his brother. It's hard for ez and Callum to see each other as brothers when they also have such official titles as children. Soren and Corvus can have loyalty to king Ezran, but Callum should have loyalty to Ez. Ez wants Callum to be his brother.
Callum being high mage causes a lot of problems. When Callum tries to follow Rayla after her fight with Ezran, Ezran tells him to stop and stay at the council meeting. He calls Callum "high mage" and because Callum has such an official position and title he has to listen, he has to stay. If Callum was just his brother then Ezran's commands as king honestly hold less weight and consequence to Callum, and that's how it should be, Ezran should be his baby brother, not king.
Siblings are always in a situation in which they could hurt each other, with their titles they are in even more position to hurt each other. If Ezran is king then he has the power to throw Callum and Rayla in jail and have them followed and tracked. If Callum is high mage then he has the power to stop Ezran and his soldiers with force.
It's also easier for Callum and Ezran to give each other advice as brothers.
I also think that being high mage kind of takes the fun out of magic for Callum. Which is understandable, if writing was my official job instead of my passion I don't know how much I'd enjoy it either. It's clear that Callum doesn't enjoy being in council meetings that much, episode 2 is the second time we see him not paying attention and drawing instead. He also describes his title as 'stuffy' he wants to be mage who does magic, not a high mage.
Callum giving up his title is a good way for both him and Ez to be what they want to be. Mage and child. Brother and brother. I hope that if Callum is high mage again in arc three then it'll be after he's lived some more life with Rayla and he actually wants it
The end

i very much want it to be that the reason rayla won't kill callum is because, for once, she chooses to be selfish.
we know that in general callum has a tendency to sacrifice the greater good for his loved ones and rayla has a tendency to sacrifice herself for the greater good, but i think that extends to her loved ones (she knew how bad leaving would hurt callum [and even though her reasoning is to keep him safe, it was also a general "i need to rid the world of this evil" deal]).
killing callum would mean sacrificing something that means even more to her than herself for the sake of the world. chances are she won't, and i want that to be because of the fact that she chooses to have callum in her life (or at least for him not die by her hand), fate of the world be DAMMED.

Lucia the first elves and archdragons, who designed and built the camp cosmic order, is angry and scared that the spark human's use of primal magic is going to spread through the camp and endanger everyone--
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It happened long ago, when humans had only just learned to hold fire in their hands without burning. They nurtured their precious primal flames secretly—in the dark of night, beneath shadows and shrouds—as cultivating its glow drew the eyes and ire of monsters. Eventually, for the audacity of their fire, they were hunted, and—though they looked to the stars for salvation—the stars, too, looked down upon them with disdain. Humanity had been given something it was never meant to have. And so there came a calamity.
--Ripples
I've been thinking about why the stars and the Cosmic Order would turn their backs on and refuse to watch over Xadia. If they could see the future - why is there nothing they're willing or able to do to stop it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But if the human's unchecked use of magic would attract the attention of a certain type of monsters -
Tumblr media
Speculation that Aaravos was hoping to attract a star devourer dragon to destroy Xadia is an idea that's been bouncing around the fandom for a while.
And this would explain why the other Startouch elves on the Cosmic Council would stay out of the way; why they would turn their backs and avert their eyes; why they wouldn't want to look past a certain point via their timeblind powers either.
"...the beginning of the end. The long slow spiral to chaos." They won't look past the cosmic-prophecy-event-horizon because there's a star devourer dragon sitting just beyond.
They're afraid of being driven mad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"...I can feel my very being shattering from the inside out!"
Aaravos gleefully goading the humans on; taunting the Cosmic Council, "are you watching?"
I have not seen the stars in centuries. But when I see them again—when the stars are forced to look upon me, their dark brother—they will know how I have waited. And when everything they have built lies shattered, I will savor their fall from the sky.
--Patience
In lieu of a conclusion paragraph I'm gonna leave y'all with a piece of my terrible humor:

Is she standing trial?! 😭
Tumblr media
(Screenshot from https://x.com/netflixgeeked/status/1836480310197817516?s=61&t=1GGjWtn2cr4l3lQNZLQB0Q)
That’s what this situation looks like? Is it to get potentially unghosted?
Did they summon the dead to pass judgment on her? That sounds pretty Moonshadow, and we know moon magic can do that kinda thing. Maybe the lotuses serve as some kind of tether to them after death, we saw Runaan’s still glowing while he was beyond the realm of the living. And they can be used to temporarily call them back?
Or maybe they’re illusions, and it’s just to make Rayla ‘face’ the people her actions harmed?
And where is Runaan and Ethari? I’m assuming they’re not allowed to interfere, but I desperately want them to interfere. Ethari didn’t go to bat for Rayla when they ghosted her, and I’m pretty sure he regrets that, so his redemption arc must be a dramatic ‘I object’ kinda scene, it’s what he deserves!
Can’t wait to see, that’s for sure!

Petition for Kim’dael to come back in arc three in a subplot where Miyana’s twins are in trouble and Kim’dael has to watch over them because “if you two little fools get yourselves killed on this stupid hare-brained adventure, then one day, when your dearly beloved aunt kicks the bucket, I’ll die too.” A sharp toothed grin. “So now I guess I’m your guardian angel.”

If Aaravos' plan is to "release the dead into the land of the living..." does this mean that Ethari might not believe Runaan's alive even when he sees him face-to-face?

Timeline season things thanks to the new pictures
Tumblr media
So we know early on in the season, presumably, Ezran and Corvus arrive in Katolis and have reunited with Callum (who has likely flown from the Moon Nexus to Katolis to check on his home/brother) and are riding Aegis and Embertail, Janai and Amaya's hotcat mounts. They will likely also reunite with Soren and Opeli here.
We also know at one point that Ez, Rayla, Runaan, Aanya, and presumably most everyone else ends up at the Banther Lodge thanks to these images.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also know that Rayla (and Runaan) are going to go to the Silvergrove, where Rayla meets with some kind of Keeper for some kind of Moonshadow trial. I'd place this around 7x03 or 7x04 latest.
Tumblr media
With the latest image in mind, we can construct some other details.
Tumblr media
I thought at first glance that this picture was depicting the journey to back Katolis, given that Ezran and Aanya are there on said hotcats and Corvus is there. However, Soren is also there (riding with Corvus) which means that it can't be on the way from Lux Aurea to Katolis (at least not the premiere trip), so it must come after.
Whatever they're flying to is either something they're worried about, or something that looks worrisome from the sky. Callum is also not in shot, but he could just be flying with his wings > needing a mount. An alternative is that he went with Rayla and Runaan to the Silvergrove, and perhaps Ezran and co. are travelling there to reunite with them, or even checking up on Zubeia.
Things that could worry them from the Sky:
Visibly destroyed or corrupted places, such as the Moon Nexus, Silvergrove (broken barrier?), or even the Midnight Desert (though I don't think there'd be that many clouds if that was the case). This could even be the place with mushrooms where Zubeia is resting, since Soren and Corvus know the way + Aaravos could have incentive to interrupt her healing, but Zym isn't in shot with them either, so... maybe? I think the Silvergrove could make a lot of sense and be time effective, so we'll just have to see.

The Same Path
Tumblr media
There are a lot of parallels between Viren and Callum.
Let's start with appearances, because as any Illusionist worth their salt should know, they're the only the only thing we will ever really know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The framing of some of these is too intentional to be a mistake. Now, that doesn't mean I think Callum will follow the same path as Viren, I don't. But it's still an interesting similarity.
Now, let's talk about the reality sitting right beneath the appearance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Viren and Callum wanted to be someone. To feel that they amounted to something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were told who they were going to become.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But they chose to write their own destinies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However it's not that simple. They each had someone that they held so dear... that they would do anything for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And "anything" encompasses a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Lissa and Rayla are upset about what Dark Magic does to the people they love, but Viren and Callum believe that they have no choice. They're doing what they have to for those very people.
However Viren and Callum can both can acknowledge that they're right. They have succumbed to darkness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Viren reached the end of his path and discovered it was not the one he thought he was walking.
Callum, however, has realized what path he is walking and is actively trying not to make the wrong choice.
I think that Callum and Viren are walking parallel paths, but that they are not the same. They have similar stories and are being faced with similar choices. They have similar temptations. But Callum's story is not one of corruption.
However I do think we will see Season Seven return to this theme of "anything".
Viren lost himself when he gave "anything" for those he loved. What will Callum lose?

oh i am soooo interested to see if in the broyals conflict they bring up the fact that ezran fully defending avizandum ("everything avizandum did was to protect xadia"), mostly out of alliance with zym, even though avizandum killed his mother is almost the exact same thing as callum defending runaan, who killed their father, for the sake of rayla

Hoping for s7 scene where Ruthari finally go against their cultural beliefs and have a big feelings time with Rayla where they tell her that they're sorry for everything that happened to her when she was just a child and for leaving her all alone to bear the weight of the generational and cultural trauma they helped create, with Rayla silently crying next to them. Finally accepting the fact that nothing was her fault and that she was, in fact, the victim.
