Mom: ... Isn't that blasphemy?

Me: Only if you believe in that stuff, which I don't.

Mom: And what if hell is real, and you get sent there for blasphemy?

Me: Well, at least I'll have a great soundtrack.

This perfectly describes what Dinah—the heroine of my series, The Cursed and the Fallen—goes through in book 3.

characters who view themselves as tools/weapons first and people second... characters who martyr themselves for a cause because they think that's the only way they can be worth something... characters who push themselves past their breaking point again and again and again... characters for whom devotion and masochism are inseparable... characters whose self-sacrifice becomes self-annihilation...... what was my point again? i had a point. anyway.

how the LIs kiss

pure!sydney's kisses are sweet, mouth soft and his tongue warm. he kisses you in the same way he savors the hard candies you'd slide over the library counter, slipping them into his hands just so your fingers could brush. when he pulls away, his glasses are foggy, a nervous smile on his face. "was that..." he says, blushing. "was that alright?"

corrupt!sydney's kisses are hungry. he's got his hands under your shirt and his tongue deep in your mouth. he's been waiting so patiently, after all, and now he finally has you to himself. "you taste divine, beloved." he says, fingers slipping under your waistband. when you sigh against his mouth, he smiles. "but i think it's time i have my dessert."

whitney's kisses hurt. they're full of teeth and bruises and blood and his nails digging crescents into your skin. whenever he crushes his lips to yours, he always makes sure to leave you aching. and like every fight you've had against him, you never come out unscathed. "there," he says, marveling at the fresh marks blooming along your neck. "now everyone will know whose slut you are."

kylar's kisses are desperate. his hands roam your skin as his mouth murmurs endless promises into the hollow of your neck. "we'll be together forever," he says, drunk on the scent of you. he presses his body to yours, eager to get closer, to envelope you in his embrace. to never, ever, let you go. "nothing will ever change that."

eden wastes no time when he kisses you. he has known the lean months of winter and the lonely days of fall. you cannot deny him the sweetness of spring. he bites into the curve of your neck like the first fruit of warmer days, licks at your lips to drink in your sweetness. but a hunter is always hungry, always wanting. "it's been a long day," he growls, deepening the kiss. when he takes your shirt in his hands, the fabric rips apart easily. "too long without you."

robin's kisses are warm. they're fingers running through your hair, a smile against your mouth. sunny days and lips that taste like fresh lemonade. he always laughs when he kisses you, like he can't believe he's doing this. like he can't believe he's yours. when he kisses you, the world is a little brighter. softer. "it's a beautiful day to be with you," he murmurs after he pulls away, pressing a peck to your cheek before taking your hand in his.

there is no way you can truly describe how the ivory wraith kisses you, but there is a note of familiarity to it. your mind conjures memories of kisses whispered in passing, of lips locked in darkened halls. "as sweet as ever," he hums, licking your lips with his cool tongue. "as sweet as always." the passing of centuries have done little else but make him yearn. the wraith, with his great and terrible beauty, kisses you like he's been waiting for you all this time.

📻 Drawing in mostly my style is such a relief, I tell you. Honestly, I had no intention of shipping Alastor with anyone and I still sorta don't. If not for all of the adorable fanarts I kept bumping into, I wouldn't have even considered this. But now that I see it, "Queerplatonic Radioapple" would be SO funny. XD On a side note, Charlie may just be the safest kid in hell. Or endangered. Depending on how you see it. LOL. 🍎 -Bubbly💙

His blond hair is so pale it almost looks white. A few strands touch his forehead, others his high cheekbones. Unearthly beautiful and clad in a charcoal-gray suit and a pristine white shirt with two opened buttons. But that’s not the relevant part. His obsidian eyes lock with mine, and I can’t move. The raw power that oozes from him is unmistakably dark and twisted. Like falling from a cliff with no bottom, like having spiders climbing up my legs. Look at that, I am a magnet for hot guys. “Go on, spit it out. Am I the key to humanity’s salvation? Do I have to stop the Apocalypse? Because, if that’s the case, we are all royally fucked,” I say. ©Demon Warden, Selene Kallan.

“So, what’s your name?” I ask. He turns to look at me. “What?” The same brusqueness of that first night has filtered back into his voice. “Your name, you must have one.” “You already know it,” he says, amethyst eyes narrowing suspiciously. I frown. “If you’re talking about that night, I must remind you I was drunk as Hell and have no idea what I said in that language.” His gaze sharpens with disbelief, and I have to break away from that stare. It’s like being naked. “So, name?” I ask, trying to hide the discomfort. He remains stubbornly quiet. “Unless you want me to call you Your Highness?” I risk a glance. His face is devoid of emotion. “Your majesty? Prince of Darkness?” still nothing. “Royal Pain?” A perfect black brow rises. “Prince of Darkness is taken, I’m afraid. And Royal Pain suits you better.” I snort. “It takes one to know one.” ©Demon Warden, Selene Kallan.

“Put your hands on her again,” Nox warns Aaron, voice arctic, sending a shiver down my spine, “and I will send you to your Maker.” ©Demon Warden, Selene Kallan.

“Shouldn’t you be sleeping in a coffin or something?” I grumble. He rolls his eyes. “I am a demon, not a vampire, and that is nothing more than a ridiculous human myth.” “Too bad. I’m sure a vampire would be nicer than you, Royal Iciness.” “I’ve heard that one before, too.” I snort. “Of that, I have no doubt.” ©Demon Warden, Selene Kallan.

Dinah sighs and her lips brush my neck. A jolt of awareness crawls down my spine. I blink and look down at her, catching sight of her wild curls and slightly flushed face. “Chicken soup,” she murmurs in her sleep. Bryce laughs. “Do I smell a new nickname?” I narrow my eyes at him. “Only if you wish to spend a little vacation in Hell.” His eyes sparkle with mischievousness. He points at the plate. “You have five minutes to eat.” I blink, not quite believing he’s just made breakfast for me. “You have a special relationship with five, don’t you?” I quip, but sit on the stool and load a forkful into my mouth. Nox says nothing, opting to go to the fridge and pour some orange juice for me. The eggs are perfect, fluffy, and warm. “Thanks,” I grumble. “Three minutes,” he says. “There’s something wrong with your internal clock, or should I say infernal clock?” I say with my mouth half full.
