Probably obvious tip to cosplayers or anyone that's drilling holes in pvc pipes (or drilling holes into anything lightweight that is easily inhaled and is acting stupid and holding it way too close).
WEAR A MASK OR SOMETHING TO PREVENT YOU INHALING IT.
We were working on drilling holes into some pvc pipes for some wings for a cosplay, and I'm pretty sure we inhaled some of it because we were holding it close to our face to look at various things and because we didn't know better (have never did this before). Definitely gonna be wearing a mask for the rest of it since we're not done yet.

Oh geez we've had many system names all with different meanings lol. And we also don't have a true real one right now. The closest is
The Cursed Fallen Corvids. Which it's meaning is related to us feeling like we're cursed, being fallen angelkin, and being crowkin. For us it's become quite icky as it brings up past memories we'd rather forgot about. Along with just our whole tumblr.
We've started using another name over on simplyplural, which is The Fallen Killers. Which we don't like that much as it's still similar and will probably change once we figure out something different. But that one is again related to being fallen angelkin, and the killers is due to a some of our current frequent fronters were killers in source, plus sorta due to us being the angel of death/a reaper before we fell. We really just wanted a change when we changed it. And a certain sysmate kept saying something kinda similar I think.
We can't remember most of our old names at this point, but our original one was Blue Berry Bush or BluBeryBush. This was since we loved blueberries as a child, but only one's we grew. And Bush since we're different berries, but all on plant, or just we're all separate but also connected. And we thought it was funny to name ourselves after that. Also the shortened version was invented after we were trying to use the name somewhere, but our name was too long lol.
I love hearing about system / collective names and the inspirations behind them! Its a really special aspect of being a system, and it's one of my favorite parts, because everyone's names are unique and have a very special meaning behind them.
fellow systems, if you have a sys / collective name, reblog and share what it means to you, if you'd like! ^-^
We chose the name Lighthouse Collective after outgrowing our previous system name, Potato Chip Squad, in more ways than one. Our system pretty much doubled rapidly over the span of about a month or so, and the old system name became linked to some rather sucky traumatic experiences, and we felt like we needed a fresh start.
Lighthouse Collective as a name came to us as a symbol of light, hope, and positivity in the aftermath of those darker days. When we changed it, the weight off our shoulders was amazingly freeing.
I can't wait to hear others' stories!

This chapter made me feel two very conflicting emotions
Like on one hand yes it was definitely lighter than some of the other ones we've read but on the other... Fireheart is really getting used to shrugging off tragedy, huh? (This isn't a criticism, it just made me feel a very potent amount of dread)
Like his whole character is remembering tragedy and fully, deeply grieving for longer than his peers, to the point where when something bad happens most of the looks he gets are those of concern, but here he manages to center himself and think that it's not so bad. Which AGAIN is conflicting because I want him to be happy but the desensitization :(
If I'm misreading this I apologize but it just really made me feel things
Awesome chapter as always!!
I would say that the relief of something good happening for once is a much higher high than usual due to all the bad shit happening, at least in the moment. He's definitely getting a little numb to it, though, and he definitely doesn't like that. I can't say too much about his grief and pain right now because, well, spoilers, but this relationship with the horrors is relevant and discussed in the future!

A family of crows has moved into my backyard bc they enjoy pranking my dog.
There’s a group of crows who love hanging out in my yard to hunt, or something. My pupper always chases off any intruders encroaching on his domain.
However, when he does this with the crows, they split up and fly into a tree. Then, they literally take turns mocking my dog’s barks, as he becomes increasingly more irate that he can’t do anything about it.
At this point, it seems like the crows keep coming by bc they genuinely think it’s funny…. And the thing is…. They’re kinda right.

Some cosmology for the STP D&D-esque AU:
There are two gods that are pretty universally revered, the Shifting Mound and the Long Quiet. (The Narrator didn't, in-universe, intend for them to be known to the Construct's inhabitants... but things do leak through despite all intentions to the contrary.) The Shifting Mound is hailed as the goddess of growth, transformation, and death, while the Long Quiet doesn't have a domain of his own, rather standing as a counterweight to her—the pauses between her constant motion. These are the "sleeping gods," so called because, despite their widespread worship, they don't intervene in mortal affairs at all. It's thought they're currently going through a period of hibernation, but since they're so detached from the world it's hard to know for sure.
Then there are the Titans, entities with divine magic that live in a realm separate from the world. They're not exactly gods, since they didn't create any part of the world and don't really govern any aspect of it either, but they're hailed as such in communities across the world, and they can grant holy magic. Most people think that Titans and "gods" are one and the same, but in reality most Titans don't engage with the mortal world as gods.
Finally, there are demons, who are the same species as Titans, but live in a different realm. They're worshipped as gods as well, but less often, and they're generally less powerful than Titans. They, too, can grant holy magic to their followers, but fewer people are interested in this deal since demons are typically seen as more wicked. Both demons and Titans are capable of having children with mortal humanoids, but it's much rarer among Titans.
Clerical magic can be granted by either demons or Titans, or through catching a lucky break in worship of the Shifting Mound and Long Quiet. Warlock magic can also be granted by demons and Titans, as well as other, less widely-known entities. Generally speaking, if it's focused around spells the mage chooses to learn, it's clerical magic, and if it's focused around abilities the patron chooses to grant, it's warlock magic. Clerical magic usually also comes with fewer strings attached—generally the only requirement is that the cleric remains faithful to their god, while warlocks may frequently be called upon to carry out their patron's dirty work.
Titans, demons, and other entities include:
The Triad: A group consisting of the most powerful Titan, the most powerful demon, and their considerably weaker younger sister (half-sister to the Fury). The Apotheosis considers herself ruler of the Titans, the Fury considers herself ruler of the Underworld, and the Tower considers herself ruler of the mortal kingdoms. To what extent they can exert this power may vary—in particular the Tower is rarely known to mortals. The Eye of the Needle: A middling-powerful demon who left her realm to enter the mortal world in search of opponents who were more interesting to fight than other demons. She has a half-humanoid daughter out there somewhere, but they haven't spoken since the girl was old enough to take care of herself and set off on her own. Demons don't really do "family." The Networked Wild: An entity formed by the collective network of plants (among other aspects of nature) across the world forming a redundant brain with a capacity impossible for any mortal mind to truly comprehend. Its existence enables the existence of druids, and witches often tap into it as a source of external power. While it contains an impossible-to-determine number of minds (some of which are mortals attempting to tap into its wisdom by temporarily becoming a part of it, which rarely goes well upon separation), it is theorized that there is a single consciousness at the heart of the network, whose identity is unknown. The Wounded Wild: A nature spirit embedded somewhere within the western woods. She was forcibly cut from the Networked Wild a long time ago, and guards her location carefully, less her assailant return to finish the job. It's theorized that magic, particularly druidic magic, would behave unusually around her because of her separation from the rest of the Wild. The Razor: An entity just left of anything with a known classification. She's not any sort of spirit, humanoid, or semi-humanoid (which includes Titans, demons, and fey), but she is a powerful entity capable of granting a warlock pact if she finds someone interesting enough to sponsor. The Stranger: It's only rumor, but there have recently been religious sects emerging that believe in an earthly incarnation of the Shifting Mound, insisting that she is perhaps the first true god since the sleeping gods went into hibernation. Most people regard such groups as trying to take advantage of people's loyalty to the sleeping gods.

#once again thinking of that rosquez daemon au where they both have crows/ravens <- daemon au !!!! i need u to elaborate. i’m not going to be able to stop thinking abt this……
i love you... many moons ago (like two months) i sent tumblr user its-always-silly-season an anon about what daemons various racers would have and the absolute scholarrrrrrs in the replies (@whatwepostintheshadows) added to me saying marc had a crow daemon by saying that in their au they had already come up with vale ALSO had a crow daemon. which is hilarious. brilliant minds!!!!
like i think it would make vale's myriad neuroses about him and marc being the same so much worse/funnier. what if you were both generation-defining motorcycle racing talents. what if you were both uncompromisingly ruthless on track. what if you were both aquariuses. what if everyone in the world could see that your souls were so similar that they took the literal same exact physical manifestation. what if you got divorced about it.

Hi. We're not one to ask for folks to talk to us. But we would really appreciate if you could ask or talk to us about our fallen angel kin life. You can just ask us random questions or whatever else.
Just stuck in a strong shift and miss it a lot right now.
We may not get to it right away or even tonight as it's late for us and are busy tomorrow, but will try to get to it soon.
Thank you if you do, and it's understandable if not.

Iskall was cheating/manipulating/pressuring women into sexting, sending unsolicited nudes, etc, and using his position as a creator to do it. 2 of the women(who were mods etc for him) have posted public statements with details. Someone went to the Hermits, who investigated and confronted Iskall about it. He resigned rather than defend himself. Stress resigned on her own accord
ahaaaaa helpful addendum to the previous anon, thank you for the details

I thought for a while about what I wanted to say to today's chapter, and I don't think I'll be able to say all of it regardless, but I really REALLY appreciate the emphasis you put on family in these stories.
Your willingness to accept adoption and familial bonds like that was startling (in a fantastic way) when I first read these books, and my respect for you just keeps on growing.
When I read the original books, I knew there was something about Cloudpaw and Fireheart that was just. Missing, y'know? I wanted them to love each other, and I was just not being given that. On top of having my favorite Fireheart EVER, you've done something for these characters that they desperately needed: you gave them a capacity for real and true love. (That's corny, forgive me.)
All that's to say you're a fantastic writer, and I am very sure I'll have more to say in future chapters, if the frequency doesn't bother you. Fantastic job, you two!
So firstly, I am always eager for thoughts and comments on anything about the story and characters. You (and everyone else) are definitely not bothering me when you come to my inbox and say such lovely and thoughtful things! Keep 'em coming for as often or not as you like!
Secondly, the emphasis on familial bonds is important to this story, but also to me. My family (especially my parents) is the most precious part of my personal life, so it brings me a lot of joy to write fictional families, adopted or blood-related.
The books have this complete lack of love between even siblings about 90% of the time, to the point that a cat most often won't react strongly to the death of their sister. I understand that there are a lot of cats and family lines to keep track of, but for fuck's sake, you wrote them being born and growing up together, you can give them a bond that lasts past their deaths! It's just so frustrating, you know?

Anyone who remembers my Cabins & Corvids STP AU might be interested in the more proper description of Paranoid in the thing I'm currently writing:
Now that there was no longer a door in the way, Doubting could see the figure clearly—or, he could see their clothing. Their entire body was covered in a long, navy blue robe with the design of a heart stitched into the back, and their gloved hands barely peeked out of flowing sleeves. They wore a wizard’s hat, the same color as their robe, which was pulled as far down on their head as possible, with holes cut out in it for eyes, and between it and the high collar of their robes the only other visible part of their face was a beak that didn’t even extend past the brim of their hat.
