I've just finished making these ancient Roman inspired "laurel wreath" crowns out of jewel beetle shells and preserved 17 year cicada wings. I've done three of the jewel beetle ones, so one is in my Etsy (link in bio), the cicada wing one is one of a kind so far so I haven't listed it yet. I'm really happy with how these came out!

I think I might be in the minority for thinking this. but daenerys's crown as described in the books in ugly as sin. weirdly shaped, bulbous and bulky, absolutely no color harmony to be seen. even the most talented artists cannot make that thing look good in my eyes.

in my mind's eye I just scrap it entirely & imagine dany's crown being shaped a bit like these:

rather than jutting out, the three dragons are etched into the face of the crown, or maybe the crown is shaped into their outline. rubies, emeralds, and yellow diamonds or yellow sapphires are the eyes of drogon, rhaegal, & viserion (yeah yeah I know rhaegal's eyes are yellow not green, but this is a crown!! I'm going for aesthetics here!) maybe they can be used to decorate the rest of the crown too. but other than the jewels, the crown is entirely gold; none of that gold + silver + jade + ivory + onyx metal-mixing mess.

it can still be ostentatious, just less messy.

I asked some buddies a week back for some monsters to draw some ocs as based on an ask meme. I had so much fun with it i went a bit beyond doodles…

Top right (deer) is Copper, an oc belonging to @serotoninisheldinkiwis ! Copper my beloved…

Top left is NoOne as a dragon and Mess as a funky many-eyed formless something or other. Bottom left is Crown, also a formless something-or-other! The drawing meme that I drew on looked kind of like a couple of assorted elementals, but since those two are eldritch, I decided to take some liberties.

Bottom right is McReady. She’s fine. Definitely not experiencing the consequences of her actions in the form of unspeakable horrors /s. Maybe i’ll talk about her a bit later, i just gotta. Kill cringe with a big stick real quick.

Nice weather means great photo ops for my new creations... it also means the sun now hits the crack in the lens of the camera, so I have to be careful of how I angle my shots. For a 3 year old phone, I should be grateful it still works, let alone takes photos that still look decent.

First up, another versatile piece that can be worn as a crown/headdress, or necklace/choker. This one is made using some absolutely radiant garnets and recycled electrical copper wire.

And then, my first sword! It's not as perfect as I'd like it to be, and honestly think I need to reinforce some of it, but.... oh goodness, I do love how it turned out! So much measuring in this one, because even the slightest bit could have thrown off the whole design.

there are confessions blogs! very easy to search for, often riddled with discourse, but serviceable if you want something to be said or vented without connection to you i guess. i think you all should have more confidence though! & just post, especially if you're hoping for like human connection & someone to respond in kind, bc generally those who go through confession blogs to respond do that to posts they disagree with, and sometimes in a very nasty way, so. its ok to express an opinion and be met with silence it might mean that people agree with you. also hello my liege as you serve as my telephone just this once hope you're doing well
