My true magnum opus.#I was originally going to do this gag as a 'alternate version of comic 155'#Then I realized that they have the 'Come back to Gusu with me' conversation twice. So here we are!#I did consider having WWX say 'I'm not going back to gusu with you' in the comic for the better plot accuracy.#I'm invoking the rule of silly by having Wei Wuxian read between the lines of 'Come back to Gusu with me'.#Because it does feel like a confession! It is a confession of 'I care about your safety and I worry for what may happen.'#It is also poorly articulated. You can't really blame WWX for reading into it as 'LWJ is just another person trying to control me.'#The relationship between them is not good! It is two parties who genuinely want to be closer with each other but cannot communicate it.#You can't really have what makes these two work so well as a dynamic without the past history of:#“Back then I really wanted to be your friend.” They are a *missed connection*!#WWX reaches out and LWJ rejects him. And now when LWJ reaches out it is WWX who pushes them apart.#It is a tragedy about the consequences of being out of tandem and realizing what you want far too late.#The momentum of WWX's downfall is far to fast to reverse now. why can't i enjoy things like a normal person? casually, just a few episodes/chapters here and there, then move on with my life. but no, whatever it is, it worms its way into my brain, consumes my thoughts and it slowly drives me insane. i am unable to think about anything else but the Thing of the week, or month, sometimes year(s) if it gets that bad.

I don't think I've ever taken in before how much Wicked Act I (and thus Wicked Part I) takes its structure from The Wizard of Oz. It opens with No One Mourns the Wicked, which is an obvious response to Ding Dong the Witch is Dead* (the first song once Dorothy gets to Oz, and only the second overall), and ends with our heroes arriving in the Emerald City (Merry Old Land of Oz/One Short Day). Our hero is then asked to perform a task so that the wizard will grant her heart's desire. Having completed this task, she then discovers that he is a fraud and that he cannot do what he's promised (nor could he have done the task he set her), so she has to make use of the power that was inside her all along to get where she needs to go.

*Bonus connection between these two songs is the little musical motif ("ding dong the witch is") that the movie version of No One Mourns the Wicked uses in its newly triumphant orchestration at the start (roughly 1:01 and 1:19 in the official soundtrack).

Vecna’s plan requiring Mike to leave for California means nothing. The number 1 following Mike cryptically at the airport means nothing. Them barely giving us Mike’s perspective the last two seasons (despite him being the original protagonist) means nothing and it isn’t setting up his POV to be revealed in s5 bc the entire audience is completely comfortable with where Mike stands as a character in regards to his deeper feelings/motives. No confusion there so no need to address that. Mike saying How will I survive a whole week without you guys at the start of s4 wasn't foreshadowing his fate at the end of said week. Mike standing in front of exit signs 3+ times in s4 is probably just a coincidence. Mike being associated with gaping mouths in multiple moments spanning the entire series, even going back to his very first line on the show, means nothing at all. Nancy’s vision about her family (Mike) dying was mentioned at the end of s4, but it didn’t happen so probably won’t ever happen, even though there’s still another season left set directly after the events of s4. Will calling Mike the heart and how without heart they’d all fall apart, was not in any shape form foreshadowing something happening to Mike and them all falling apart, bc Mike is definitely just a prop and everything in relation to his story only holds meaning on the surface or for other characters arcs and couldn’t possibly be hinting at something deeper that’s being saved as one of the many surprises for the last season.

#byler #stranger things #im sorry but ppl getting mad over speculation about mike and vecna is weird… especially when there's series long evidence…#like we know for a fact Will and vecna are facing off in s5 it's a given with the most basic ga being ready for it #it’s probably going to really come to a head in that final battle in the last two episodes #so early s5 and everything leading up to Will being confronted by vecna cant just be Will and vecna confronting each other over and over…#that would make their final confrontation anticlimactic #there’s a reason we keep seeing a chess board/dnd in relation to the events to come #bc EVERYONE is a piece in vecna’s game #EVERYONE plays a role in him reaching his main goal #back in 2019 if ppl heard max was a target or Nancy was a target in s4 they would’ve been confused #bc there’s little to no ties between the mindflayer and those characters #for a fact Will has more ties to vecna than them #HOWEVER them having no connection to vecna is not entirely true #vecna is connected to Max and Nancy’s trauma related to the person they lost because of him..#and he used that against them to be 10 steps ahead so that he can lead up to reaching his final goal AKA WILL #he could have just got will 10 times already but he doesn't do it that way #we could’ve not had any of the events in s3-4 happen with random ass characters #BUT THE REALITY IS VECNA WANTS/NEEDS CANNON FODDER #he needs ppl that are just players in his game to overcome to eventually follow through with his plan #Mike arguably has fucked over vecna more than anyone #he’s also someone that both Will and El care for dearly #there’s a reason vecna's plan required the great big love triangle mishap in s4 #his plan literally depended on that miscommunication so that they would have a false win #like y’all just seem to want the most anticlimactic season with Will and vecna facing off only…#yes that Will happen and it will be some of the biggest moments of the season #but there's other stuff that's gotta happen...#and tbh will is going to be swamped with venca/lab revelations next season #them pounding us on the head with will is gay in s5 is going to feel repetitive as we've seen that four seasons in a row...#mike on the other hand...

not to brag about being good at my job but I’ve now developed two separate tools for debugging entirely on my own within my company entirely from scratch without help and A. it makes my job so much fucking easier and B. my boss is thinks im incredible just because im too lazy to want to write the same bits of code over and over just for debugging purposes

#unimportant thoughts #one i wrote 2-3 months ago #but i upgraded it this week to add in even more #and its just. perfect now.#given an id from any of the programs we built and run in our company #i instantaneously return everything about it #its name; what it does; what type of program it is; what server its run on; when it runs; where it connects; the parameters needed to #connect to wherever it connects; whether the program is currently turned on; the last 10 times the program ran; how many minutes each of #those runs took; how many files each of those runs created; whether those runs were successful; code snippets you can copy paste and run in #another window to look at the files created by each of those runs; the files created by the most recent run; thise file names; those file s #sizes; what types of files they are; whether theyre encrypted #how theyre encrypted #all of that and MORE #most of the information was already there but it took fucking 20 minutes to get all the information you needed #and you had to run a bunch of different snippets of code to get all the information and then put it all together #and now you can just fucking pop in the id of the program and .02 of a second later all the information is on your screen #AND IT MAKES MY LIFE SO MUCH EASIER #so. so. so. much. easier.#and then this week I wrote another program so I can compare runtimes of two different runs of the same program together based on how we stor #runtime data in our database #csuse i was tired of going back and forth manually between to different runs to compare #so now i have a program that just takes the ids of two different runs and compares them #doesnt even matter if the checkpoints are different I programmed it to figure out the order automatically and plug in any missing holes #finds the differences in runtime automatically and flags the biggest differences #and I can even customize how much of a difference I care about or to hide things I don’t care about

lays on the floor do you guys ever think about how in ResF Bulma falls for Vegeta's fake-out with Freeza and both she and Yamcha are worried about Vegeta's villain fake-out strategy in Champa and Beerus' mini tournament and how it's only been a couple of years since the Buu saga and how Vegeta straight up stopped using that strategy after that tournament

#i do #do you think he noticed it upset her twice in a row and was like 'oh I haven't earned the trust back yet i'll retire this strat'#'it's fun to scare people but i do not like my wife being scared we can put this one up on the shelf for emergencies only'#because like bulma can consciously trust him and I'm sure she does but one can still have The Fear if you've seen your spouse relapse befor #And he probably thinks it's very amusing but it is also almost certainly very not funny for her no matter how much she trusts him #and the next arc is Trunks and she's so worried about the way he left she ignored the PDA rules and squished him when she saw him alive #Because Geets determination can be self destructive when it comes to Bulma and Trunks and he killed himself to protect them once before #and knowing how connected they've been for so long some part of her probably Knew he would opt to stay behind and die like he was going to #And I love the idea that between those two events and all of the things Trunks tells him about Bulma during the GB arc Geets has to really #really be confronted with how loved he is -- and it's not that he wasn't aware before but knowing she even missed him at his worst #and loved him maybe even before she was pregnant -- means the cruel part of his mind can't make excuses for why she stayed with him #I also like to think that being confronted with the idea that Bulma is still scared for him getting his worst wires tripped #wouldn't be offensive to him. Knowing he's still got work to do if his wife is worried about those things happening to him again #is just proof that she loves him with his flaws and was still thinking about it and supporting his recovery when he didn't #even notice he was recovering -- which has always been true of her -- and now he has the chance to support her recovery in return #and being in a place where he can still put that work in to make her feel secure in his priorities is a privilege and a gift #and man I just really like how casually comfortably close they are in Super's manga I love them a lot they worked so hard #to make each other feel safe and secure for the past decade+ that it's Easy for them both now and they're SUCH a confident couple #and I am once again shaking the anime by the shoulders WHY didn't you give us that they are SO the team's Mom and Dad in the manga #until Goku riles Vegeta up -- then Piccolo is the team Dad. Bc Piccolo is the team Grandpa aksjda The Z-Fighter's locker room judge #dbtag #vegebul #putting the whole essay in the tags again oops #happy pride i am gay for a whole married couple
