So I just listened again and I cannot get over the fact that the recording of beach piano that Matt used on MYTH side one is the exact same recording as the one they wrote and played on Jam Mechanics.
Meaning that they wrote and recorded a song in three hours that was high quality enough to stick on an album - and a very exactingly polished album at that.
The talent of this individual never ceases to astound and humble me

me trying to explain MYTH to my friends: it's like- okay so there's this island, and a book of fairy tales about a forest, but there is no forest and- well no its not just about fairy tales, it's about the human experience and love and- no you have to listen to it in order, it's important, it's a narrative. what? no it's not a book it's an album. the ending makes me ugly cry every time i hear it. no it's not SAD- well it is pretty sad but it's more bittersweet? it hits an emotional bell I guess is one way to put it. listen dude i know im not making much sense you just gotta listen to it. no you can't listen while playing a video game you'll miss important bits. yeah listening while drawing will work. guys just trust me i can't explain it you just gotta listen-

Holy shit holy SHIT holy shiT
GOD I'm going feral over MYTH side one and MYTH Side 2 and the stranger and Dawn and the narrator and the boy and jack and the BEAST and David Brownley and the choirmaster and Sasha and angels stalking ridges and forests and siblings and parents and children and lovers and gods and GOD the boy wants to be a ghost and the forest wants to be haunted!! Its symbiosis unto codependency because the sea has been bottled and the lighthouse has been automated and the god of time has barely spoken to her in weeks but there's a little kid out there listening to the stories that the people she came after used to tell and they're shaping his destiny faster than he can find his way out of the hall of doors and everyone who's promised they will slay the beasts has disappeared and maybe that's why the beasts are here and your name means gift from god but that only has meaning as long as god lives and as long as you keep being a gift but those around have never given you a choice and
can you really be anything you want from yourself if you are alone on an island that is alive? That is lonely?
Did you start as a ghost? Or a boy?
Did you start loving, or loved?

the girl who painted death was actually made specifically for me. it’s eight minutes. it changes the tone of the whole album. it’s spooky. it simultaneously upholds and overturns the image of the island i had. it’s about sapphics. it’s about life and death and grief. it creates a sense of dissonance between fact and fiction and i’m not sure which is which.
and they lived. happily.
