1974 Dodge Monaco

The Bluesmobile is a 1974 Dodge Monaco sedan that was prominently featured in the 1980 Universal Pictures film The Blues Brothers. The car is described as a decommissioned Mount Prospect police car, purchased by Elwood Blues at an auction after he had traded a previous car (a 1968 Cadillac Sixty Special) for a microphone. The Bluesmobile is equipped with a "440 Magnum" engine and squad car package, an option offered by Dodge for the Monaco in 1974. It bears an Illinois license plate reading "BDR 529", a tribute to the Black Diamond Riders motorcycle club of Toronto, Canada. Dan Aykroyd, co-writer of the film, stated that he chose the 440 Dodge Monaco because he considered it to be the hottest car used by police during the 1970s.

"It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas". ~ Elwood Blues describing the Bluesmobile.

Saw the replica Bluesmobile today !!!!! It was so cool I even got to talk to the guy who owns a bunch of these sorts of movie cars and brings them to events and we are now on a first name basis B) He also thought my Elwood earrings were cool and I showed him the Made in America record I had literally just bought at a nearby shop while I was there for this event !! The guy also told me about how he had to hand make the pack of Chesterfield cigarettes on the dash and what reference he had to work from in the movie for it

They also had the Ecto-1 !! The Ecto-1 is probably the one they bring to events the most (that and their DeLorean) so I’ve seen it a good few times now

Have you heard of the Blues Brothers? You know Dan Aykroyd & John Belushi. Well, I saw the Texas Bluesmen perform there & MY GOD they did such a good performance & stayed in character so well like the OGs. The Texas Bluesmen are a tribute band based in Dallas, Texas & pays tribute to of course Elewood & Joliet Blues. They are very wonderful gentlemen & so funny too.

To hear that Schlagg got fucking Tom Scott from the Blues Brothers (and the LA Express) to be the arranger for his album has me feeling so many ways because The Blues Brothers is one of my favorite fucking movies of all times 😭❤️ Instead of watching Disney movies growing up I watched it, I own all of the live albums, I have the plate from the Bluesmobile, like I'm a diehard fan through and through. I could recite it backward if I was ever prompted to.

So yeah, I bought the Christmas vinyl because even though I've been straying away from the fandom, this may have just sucked me right back in.

“come on (Y/N)!” Elwood called up the stairs for me. “We’re going to be late! Let’s go!” I hurried down the stairs and looked up as I headed to the door. I was almost to the driveway when I realized Elwood wasn't behind me.

"El?" I called as I headed back into the house. He was standing at the foot of the stairs and was fidgeting with his sunglasses. "You alright?"

"Yeah." He said, snapping out of it. "You just look amazing." I felt my cheeks heat up as I ducked my head. Elwood walked over and looped my arm through his. "Come on. Before you miss your own birthday party."

"Do we really need to go to this?" I asked, gazing fondly at him as he led me out to the Bluesmobile. "I'd much prefer the two of us staying home and having our own party." I leaned closer to him before breaking away and getting in. Elwood sighed as he closed my door and headed to get in on his side.

"That does sound perfect." He breathed out. "But Jake put a lot of work into this. And he hasn't done this for anyone. Not even me. So we do have to go for a while at least." I sighed and I frowned.

"Well when you put it that way." I groaned. Elwood laughed as he backed out of the driveway. "Jake never threw you a birthday party?" Elwood nodded. "I find that hard to believe."

"Well he's never thrown me one like this." Elwood clarified, glancing over at me. I nodded. "But hey you deserve it. I mean we did just get married and Jake's going to be trying hard to make you feel like you are part of the family now." He assured me, putting his hand on my thigh and squeezing gently. "Not that you weren't before but now...He feels like he's gotta do something I guess." I giggled as he rambled. “And I’m shutting up now.” He sighed. We fell into a comfortable silence as he continued driving. I reached down and squeezed his hand. Elwood squeezed my leg in return, making me look down. I swallowed as I noticed just how much of my thigh his hand covered. “You ok?” Elwood asked, glancing at me out of the corner of his eye.

“yeah.” I said, tearing my eyes away from his hand and trying to focus on his face instead. “I’m ok. Why?” My eyes drifted to the hand on the wheel.

“you seem distracted.” Elwood said, eyebrow raising as he noticed my focus shift again. He flexed his hand on the wheel and watched as I gulped. Elwood hummed before turning off the highway, heading towards a secluded oasis he used to sleep at before he moved in with me. “You’re definitely distracted.” He chuckled as he slid his hand higher up my leg. He squeezed my leg before brushing his fingers along the seam of my jeans. “What is it huh? Poor baby distracted by something hmmm?” Elwood pulled over and turned off the car. He shifted in his seat and turned towards me.

“el?” I looked at him confused. “We’re gonna be…” Elwood leaned in and kissed me, his hands cupping my cheeks. I sagged against him, hands coming up to rest against his chest. Elwood hummed against my lips before pulling away.

“fuck if we’re late.” He breathed out. “My hands turn you on don’t they?” My breath hitched as Elwood trailed a hand down to rest against my throat. I gulped, feeling the pressure there even though he was just holding his hand against my skin.

“What?” I whispered. Elwood chuckled as he pulled me close, his grip on my throat tightening slightly. He kissed me again, his other hand sliding down my body until it rested against my ribs. Each finger rested against a separate bone, making me shift in my seat as he slowly laid me back.

“you’re turned on beyond belief just by this.” He sighed as he pulled away, nose scrunching up as our crotches brushed against each other. “And for what? My hands?” He brushed his nose against mine, slowly pushing my shirt up so his hand rested against my bare skin. “What is it? The size? The way they feel? What?” I gulped, nodding. “Words sweetheart. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He said. Glancing at me out of the corner of his eye, he smirked. “Well I guess you already got your birthday present. We can stay a little longer at the party.” I groaned and hung my head.

“Elwood.” I complained as he laughed, making the turn off towards Jake’s house.
