okay i got bored making thyme vanilla custard and lemon meringues and started playing barbie as the princess and the pauper (2004) in the background so here are my top ten favorite things about this movie

1) barbie playing both the princess AND the pauper lindsay lohan style

2) the entire main storyline being like a political intrigue thriller with kidnappings and financial crimes etc is hysterical

3) the character voiced by the voice actor of L Death Note gets to be a scheming little detective freak in a heteroplatonic homoerotic relationship with the blonde princess

4) one of the scenes is from the POV of the princess’s cat

5) one of the advice pieces on how to be a princess is to ‘never show a thing you feel inside’ but the dresses are genuinely beautiful and like absolute dream princess dresses

6) one of the major plot props is a wig

7) the prince ken doll is also cross-dressing as a poor for which he is slightly kink-shamed by erika

8) erika’s cat barks and behaves like a dog which is never addressed or used plot-wise but theres a song about how cool and fun that is

9) the evil gay advisor telling anneliese ‘your mother is a very handsome woman’ and then referencing his own wacky villainous plan song in his wedding vows

10) the bloopers

So I rewatched Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper and it never properly hit me how down bad Dominick was for Erika till now.

Boy was 100% going to break Erika out of prison (in another kingdom) during Premiger's wedding, when no one else would be paying attention to anything else. Like, dude, you are going to start a war over this girl!!! An innocent victim yes, but she was still suspected of having involvement in Anneliese's death and he was so in love that he was just ready to take her away and most likely protect her from Premiger.
