You finally came back to Devildom after all those years! But they certainly remember you a little differently...

⊱ the moment Lucifer discovered that you're coming back is the moment he started preparing House of Lamentation and himself for it

⊱ when he remembered how energetic and troublesome you used to be, he started wondering how much trouble you're going to give him as a teen

⊱ but how surprising was he, when instead of troublemaker he saw calm teen

⊱ of course he thought that you just wanted to make good impression, so he still kept his guard up

⊱ after a week he only realized that you really changed and trust me when I say he was so glad for that

⊱ you turning into a calm teen means 1 less troublemaker for him

"It's good that you're so mature. You'll see that adulthood will be much easier for you."

⊱ also, expect him to bring you into a conversation whenever his brother are acting immature

⊱ although he sometimes catches himself missing your energetic self... but that feeling quickly disappears after remembering how much trouble you gave him back then

⊱ Mammon was already so excited when he heard you're coming back but will NEVER show it

⊱ he remembers how many pranks you pulled off as a child with him so when you're a teen then it should be even more fun now!

⊱ so when you first came, he immediately came to greet you but wait... why are you so calm?!! Are you shy or what?

⊱ your calm and quiet behavior got him thinking that you're shy and just need to get used to old company again, so he wanted to help you overcome it

"C'mon, let's pull some pranks on others! Like we used to, remember?"

⊱ although when it wasn't the case and you really became more mature, he's really surprised, you really prefer to be all calm than have some fun?!

⊱ he tried getting you back on your energetic self but he obviously failed and received some punishments from his older brother on his way

⊱ at the end tho, he gets used to your calm self even tho he prefer your old energetic self way more

⊱ Levi was scared when he discovered that you're coming back to Devildom

⊱ sure, he has some good memories with you but you also traumatized this man

⊱ of course he missed his young game buddy but he certainly doesn't miss fear of his figures whenever you enter his room

⊱ he didn't believed in your 'calm act's even for a second

⊱ he only started to believe that you actually changed after invited you and some of his brothers with fear in his heart at game night

⊱ he actually was really glad that you turned out like this since nie he has 1 less person to worry about when someone enters his room

"Ah! Stay away from my figures-! Oh, right, it's you. Sorry, I guess I'm still used to worry about it..."

⊱ truth to be told, he does miss your energetic self since you always talked so much and made him feel like you really like spending time with him

⊱ Satan still remember how many times you tried (accidentally or not) burning his books or how many times he needed to reorganize all the books since you basically ripped all the pages in his favorite book by being energetic

⊱ so it's just natural that he wasn't the most excited person about you coming back

⊱ although you WERE one of the best pranked in 'Anty Lucifer League', so he also was pretty excited about you coming back

⊱ but the moment he saw you, he knew you matured and he perfectly knew what that goes with

"I think we might have just lost a 'Anty Lucifer League' member and in return, gained another Lucifer alike person."

⊱ but if you're still good with pranks then he absolutely adores your new self

⊱ now just tell him that you like reading and cats too, and he's adopting you /hj

⊱ if you're just like the eldest brother, well... let's just say he won't be fond of you, and don't be surprised if someone would try to pull of non dangerous prank on you

⊱ Asmo was pretty happy for his favorite little human to come back, after all you got some nice memories!

⊱ he still remembers your sleepovers, rambles, doing your nails and make-up, how you made his day 10 times worse because you destroyed all of his make-up stuff and broke his favorite mirror

⊱ ahhh, he's so happy

⊱ but what was his surprise when you came back and saw that you matured so much

"Oh my, you're so mature now, darling! C'mon, why don't you tell me everything that happened on our classy sleepover?"

⊱ he expects you to tell him everything, and I mean EVERY SINGLE THING that happened when you were away from Devildom

⊱ if you deny his sleepover, well... that's the moment he thinks you became grumpy and all not fun

⊱ but if you won't then he won't see any reason he should treat you different, sure he does treat you like a teen now and not like a little child, but that's the only thing that changed

⊱ Been probably was the most excited out of everyone for you to come back I swear I love him sm

⊱ he always took you on his training and walked around Devildom with you since you were so energetic so he was hoping that you can continue doing this

⊱ but when he saw how calm you are now, he got a little sad but hey, it's still you! So if you're happy, he's happy

⊱ he still would like to take you on his trainings or on walks around town, even if you're not as energetic anymore

"Do you still want to go on walks around Devildom like we used to? We don't have to do anything consuming energy if you don't want to!"

⊱ he's probably one of the most understanding ones, he just doesn't see the reason why he should like you less or more because of your change

⊱ but because of that, he may treat you like you're still the same little child, just less energetic

⊱ so as long as you're alright with you change, he is too

⊱ Belphies has both, good and bad memories with you so he wasn't mad but wasn't happy either for you to come back

⊱ on one side, you helped him and Satan pull off so many amazing pranks in Lucifer which of course he avoided but these still were done nicely

⊱ on the other side tho, you were someone who was one of his first reasons for not being able to sleep as well as he'd like to

⊱ so when he discovered you're coming back, he already was annoyed but ready to face your energy for pranks sake

⊱ but when he saw that you're now so mature, he honestly was disappointed that you're so similiar to the eldest of his brothers

"Don't tell me you're gonna be like Lucifer... I will definitely need s nap after this is over. Don't interrupt me at very least."

⊱ the moment he saw you, he really was pissed off since you have him so much of 'Lucifer vibe' and he certainly souls rather die than have another Lucifer living under the same roof as he

How NOT to Write a Character

I recently read How Not to Write a Novel, which is a truly marvelous text of everything that is wrong with you, me, society, and the world at large. Perhaps not the last two, but definitely about you and me. Or our writing, at least.

In the vein of this, my new fascination, let’s talk about characters.

As always, this is my opinion and my perspective as someone who has been writing for 15 years. You may disagree, and that's okay. There are very few hard and fast rules in writing, and anyone who acts like the ultimate writing authority is stupid. Don't listen to them.

Characters are hard.

There are quite a few human beings on the planet, or so I am told. I wouldn’t know; I exist entirely within a white room with absolutely no ornament.

We need our characters to somewhat resemble such human beings, but also move our plot forward and make interesting choices. It’s a difficult balancing act, and one that even the best writers do not always succeeed at, much less the rest of us dweebs.

Cormac McCarthy’s characters in The Road are so plain and boring that I was hoping they’d get eaten by something. Olivie Blake’s The Atlas Six has such nauseatingly unlikable characters that I had a hard time picking which one I wanted to die.

You do not want to do that unless you, like Cormac McCarthy, are so talented that no one cares if your characters are composed entirely of paper shavings.

I, most certainly, do not always succeed at characterization; it took me ten years to make slightly interesting characters. I still remember walking out of a creative writing class, almost in tears, because the professor told me my characters feel more like plot devices than people. She was 100% right though, and I hate that for her.

Enough about my trauma, though. Back to the matter at hand.

Sometimes knowing what not to do is more instructive than learning what to do. Then we can turn our noses up at such mistakes as we compose, remembering how it felt to be mentally swatted by Howard Mittelmark and Sandra Newman.

So let’s be sad together as we think about all the characters that we ruined!

A lot of this is essentially what better writers than me have discussed in their fantastic book, but for free.

The Perfect Angel

Hot-bodied Teresexy has the perfect job, the perfect body, the perfect home. Despite having oodles of family wealth, she chooses to work at a meek and modest job that is super quirky and, if she weren’t absolutely loaded, utterly unsustainable in today’s capitalist hellscape. Excelling at her fun and super cool job, Teresexy is totally embarrassed by anyone noticing that she spends all of her free time walking dogs at the shelter while simultaneously reading to underprivileged children – and dropping copious amounts of cash into every beggar’s hat that she sees. Despite this clear reluctance to gain any praise (she’s so humble!), people fawn over her, practically throwing themselves at her to reward her with anything her heart may desire. She modestly downplays her accomplishments because she just cannot fathom anyone being totally amazed by her.

I need some anti-emetics right about now.

Your reader is going to hate your MC with a burning passion because, to be honest, we are very jealous.

The rest of us work boring jobs that pay the bills but don’t always fulfill us. We’ve got a few extra pounds that we refuse to admit come from the Extra Large Double Caramel Cappucino that we guzzle down while we’re late to yet another stupid dumb meeting that could have been an email.

More than that, your character feels … fake. They feel like your personal power fantasy, where everything in your life is perfect and everyone loves you. We can practically feel the insecurity oozing off the page because we, too, want that life, and we cannot have it.

Your character needs flaws.

Maybe Teresexy has a super cool cancer-curing job but she is wracked with student debt and her parents refuse to share their wealth no matter how much she begs. She feels unappreciated and people take advantage of her niceness to the point where she feels utterly drained at the end of the day.

And maybe she's a covert narcissist who just does all these things to get attention and manipulate people. That'd be a fun twist.

A character's flaws could be personal – maybe Teresexy is an utter doormat until she snaps with frustration – or they could be situational. If she is a really nice person but she keeps getting thrown into awful situations, we feel bad for her and want her to prevail.

If there is literally nothing wrong with her life and everything always goes her way, we don’t want her to prevail: we want her to fall flat on her face and get some comeuppance.

The Suckup

Syche Lofable loves Teresexy. Everything Teresexy does is perfect. She is her bestie and, of course, her greatest supporter. Whenever Teresexy does anything the least bit interesting, Syche is right there to woop and scream “yaaas girl!!” For Teresexy’s birthday, she wrote a giant list of all her bestie’s best qualities and read it at the party that she threw in her main girl’s honor while Teresexy blushed and modestly proclaimed that it was too much praise. She is always there for Teresexy, hanging on her every word, celebrating her every achievement; she serves as her friend’s cheerleader and marketer. Sometimes, she even pops in during a workday just to give Teresexy a pep talk, and any time her friend achieves something, Syche is right there to write a press release and talk about it to anyone who will listen.

Do not (do not) have characters that solely exist to gas up the MC.

We will hate them, and we will hate the MC more because of it. All you are going to do is make a one-dimensional, annoying character that we want to turn on the MC and stab them in the face.

It’s fine to have supportive friends, but they need to also have their own lives, and they need to not obsess over the MC. They are allowed to disagree or have a bad day, and sometimes their friend comforts them instead of the other way around.

Any time you find a character that is always, always orbiting around your MC, tone it down or, better yet, make them turn on the MC, shattering the relationship and causing some serious drama.

Or, honestly? Make them hook up. I think Syche might have an itty bitty crush.

The Strong Female Badass

Blasda Tuffi can do everything a man can! She can fight, she can crack open a cold one with the boys, and damn, can she shoot a gun. She doesn’t have any of those typical icky woman qualities like crying at sad movies or gobbling ice cream on her period. In fact, when she’s PMSing, she trains even more, and harder! Despite this, all the men want her because she’s one of the boys, but she coldly rejects them all because she cares too much about her career, which just involves punching people and looking cool. Oh, by the way, she’s super pretty but never bothers to put on makeup or nice clothes because she doesn’t care about such superficial things.

We get it. She’s a tough broad. She’s basically a male superhero but with lady woman parts.

She’s also annoying because she’s such a stereotype and, frankly, pretty misogynistic.

A female character can be tough, but she needs to have flaws and a mixture of both traditionally masculine and feminine qualities, or you have basically just written a man with lady woman parts because you want to seem progressive.

Blasda occupies a strange space between masculinity and feminity, beseiged on all sides because she can’t rectify these things. That can make her an interesting critique of gender roles rather than just a way to win feminist brownie points.

The Antihero (But Not Really)

Tiberius Wolferson had a tough life. He was raised by an alcoholic and a mother who was too busy working at the Puppy Kicking Factory to give him any attention. Despite all this neglect, he’s cool. He’s stoic. He’s firm. He’s a badass. During his childhood, he fought many other kids – but only because they deserved it. This hardscrabble mentality has bled into his career, which is brutally and coldly slaughtering anyone who crosses him; this means he kills a lot of bad guys, but he never really feels bad about it. We know he’s not a good guy because he smiles as he tortures people to get more details about how they are intending to use orphans as bait to bring down a mob boss. Tiberius spends a lot of time telling us that he simply could not give a flying fart about if people die. That’s just what people do: they die. At his hand. Gruesomely. But only if they actually deserve it.

This is not an antihero, this is just a hero who the writer is trying very, very hard to turn into an antihero by writing nasty murder scenes and indulging their inner teenage boy, who loves the idea of getting back at all their childhood bullies.

Being an antihero isn't quite the same as being morally gray. Characters can do disdainful things, but we can still root for them because we understand that it was for the greater good. One of my characters, Mordrek, is introduced to The Eirenic Verses when he steals a mule, flees the scene, and then kills the owners.

Is he an antihero? No. He's a spy who does what he's gotta do. Those guys stood in the way of his work; it wasn't personal. He's morally gray.

But antiheroes need to be a bit more than just a little gray. They need to be full-on, blaring gray, edging toward black. We need to dislike, or at least disdain, an antihero.

Antiheroes are, quite honestly, one of the hardest characters to write because they need to toe the line between awful and likeable, never really falling into either. If you are not absolutely sure that you have great characterization, leave these guys to the pros.

The Overly Villainous Villain

Vila Crualton is a rich supervillain who somehow has a sycophantic crew of lackeys who will do whatever he wants. By the way, he does not pay them well, and he also kicks them a lot. He personally invented the Total Death Ray that also gives people cancer and also several diseases that are previously unknown to science. (Teresexy is throwing gobs of money at the problem and personally committed to fixing it herself.) In his free time, he does some shifts at the Puppy Kicking Factory, which has put him on Tiberius Wolferson’s hitlist because Tiberius has a lot of trauma about his mom walking out on him because she got addicted to kicking puppies. Vila’s main goal in life is to give everyone cancer. Why? Because he’s evil. That’s all there is to it. He loves kicking puppies, abusing his lackeys, committing tax fraud, and inflicting horrible suffering on other people just because.

Look, let’s get it out of the way. Some people just suck. Some people are total and utter sociopaths, and they really do feel like the ultimate villain. They have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and they ruin everything they touch.

This is, of course, not from personal experience. Not at all.

But bad people IRL have a reason for what they do. Maybe they were abused and know no other way of interacting with people. Maybe they got addicted to drugs and don’t care how their next fix comes, just that it does.

That’s not to say all drug abusers are evil, of course, but a serious addiction can turn people into villains. They need help, but some refuse to get it because they’re afraid of losing the one thing that brings them comfort. It’s possible to redeem them, though it doesn’t always happen.

Or maybe a villain has a pretty simple reason for what they do: they love power and money. They want fame and don’t care who they step on. They want to get the pretty girl because she’d look good hanging off their arm, and how she feels about that does not matter because they do not see her as a real person due to misogyny.

But whatever the goal is, we can understand it, even if we have never been tempted down that same path, because we have seen it play out in other people or in historical figures.

Your villain does not need to be likable. They just need to be comprehensible.

The Miserable Cinnamon Roll

Doloria Lachrymis has had a hard life. Every member of her family was murdered when she was only five years old at the hands of Vila Crualton, who threw them into a comically oversized Blendtec blender after sewing her eyes open so she had to watch. She was then evicted from her family’s modest bungalow because, being five years old, she could not continue the family’s proud legacy of trash farming. Their completely unlucrative trash farm was foreclosed on, leaving her with nowhere to go. Sad little Doloria then fell into the cruel hands of one of Vila’s henchmen, who performed nightly bloodletting rituals on her delicate little feet because he believed that child blood would make him younger. Not only was she basically incapable of walking because of all the cuts on her feet, but she was constantly reminded of Vila’s evil nature because he would come into her mice-infested hovel and turn on a blender to make her cry.

Many of us love to put our characters in metaphorical blenders (sorry, Doloria) and make them suffer. However, it gets to a point where it’s just ridiculous.

You need to know when to lay off on the misery, or your character becomes trauma porn, as I have discussed before.

I had quite a difficult upbringing myself – it literally caused me to develop fibromyalgia – but it was not all bad. There were moments of joy, accomplishment, and serenity. Most people who have gone through trauma have similar experiences, even if the good times were fleeting.

We feel for characters more if we see them go through both positive and negative experiences, because we see them as real people whose lives are complicated – just like our own.

The Side Characters That Are There for No Reason

I can’t really sum these up because, well, I have no reason to. They are just there. They exist. They do not do anything interesting on their own, though they may happen to pop in for some reason, say some words, and immediately disappear again.

The random aunt that appears to drop off cookies. The wife of some other background character who says hi and then just stands around. The coworker who you describe in exhaustive detail for him to go, “Hey, how’s the cancer cure coming along?” and then walk off.

Go away! I don’t care about you! I don’t need to know your backstory! Get back to the MC fighting dragons!

A lot of writers worry that their stories are underpopulated, so they throw in a bunch of characters who are named and who have relationships with other characters, but nothing else. These characters are the equivalent of your grandmother’s collectible plates that you inherited and prop up around the house out of guilt, but that do nothing but collect dust that you must clean off every few weeks.

Throw them out, please. It is better to have an underpopulated book than an overpopulated one, where your MC gets lost in the shuffle and your readers are trying desperately to keep track of all these characters who are introduced once and then disappear into the ether.

If a character is just there to offer back chatter and shoot the breeze, banish them, or better yet, turn them into a likable character and then kill them.

Character Suggestions for Fun and Profit

Okay, so you have wept over the fact that one or all of your characters fall into these categories. Never fear! We can fix them. But how, you ask? Consider these options.

Never Make a Character’s Life Perfect

Your MC should not be rich, pretty, successful, and modest. They should not be talented at everything they do but also tenderhearted and willing to share.

Quite frankly, people don’t like to read about rich people unless they are jerks, because most of us are not rich and super talented. (Or maybe I am projecting.)

We want characters we can relate to!

Dead-end jobs! Shitty apartments! Ugliness! Toxic family members! Weird dynamics! Lusting after the one person we can’t have! All good, all valid.

If your character reflects exactly what you want your life to be like, remove something, or many somethings. Give them a flawed circumstance that you dislike about your life (or yourself) and play with that.

Pick a Major Character Flaw and Stick With It

Your MC needs a flaw so they don’t end up like Teresexy. A big flaw that infests everything they touch. It causes problems. It makes other characters hate their guts. Despite that, we can like them and relate to them because they have good traits, too.

This major flaw can be counterbalanced by their good flaws, but it needs to be realistic. Here are some examples:

Kindhearted but hotheaded

Affectionate but impulsive

Intelligent but lazy

Thoughtful but judgmental

Loyal but naive

Accomplished but abrasive

For bonus points, pervert one of their good qualities over the course of the story line. Maybe they start out very idealistic, but they become jaded and judgmental, assuming everyone needs to match their beliefs. Maybe they are kindhearted, but they take this to such an extreme that it ruins their life and they grow bitter.

Characters Should Make Mistakes

They don’t have to be big ones, but they need to be bigger than “tripped over something.” This goes along with the fact that they need to have flaws or we simply can’t relate to them.

If your character always makes the right decision, always has the perfect thing to say, and is always nice to everyone, then they don’t feel real: they feel like a plot device to get to some bigger conflict, and this reduces our immersion.

We want to cheer your MC on when they get back up after a mistake, whether that is a blowout argument with their partner or failing to kill the entire demon horde because they were too tired to go on. We want to see their guilt and their shame and their pain. This is what makes us excited and turning the page.

Characters Must Disagree

Not about everything, and not all the time. But your characters need to have personalities that rub up against each other sometimes. No matter how close these people are, they are not always going to agree with one another’s every decision.

Take my mom and I. We are very close; our personalities mesh well, and we like many of the same things. She is my greatest supporter, and in turn, she calls me to rant about all her work drama, because she knows I’ll back her up.

Despite this, we do butt heads sometimes. I hated someone she liked and told her in no uncertain terms, but she was convinced that he was a wonderful person who really cared about her. We got into several arguments about it until – surprise, surprise – it was proven that he’s actually a jerk and was exploiting her kindness. No, of course I’m not smug.

You can have a loving, close relationship with someone but still not get along all the time, because people are humans and humans sometimes do things that other humans don’t like. If your characters always agree with one another about everything, they feel undifferentiated, and we never really get to know them.

Character Trauma Should Mean Something

It is perfectly fine to have characters who had a hard life, or who go through terrifying things. I am not of the opinion that you should never discuss tough things like sexual assault, domestic violence, addition, or serious mental illness, but it needs to be done respectfully.

Trauma should not be included solely for shock value.

This, I believe, is where people get turned off by depictions of trauma because it is clearly included solely to add some action and excitement to the story, not to add forward momentum or flesh out a character.

Horrible things happen to a character, and then it’s just never discussed again, or it leaves them so broken that they morph into the Miserable Cinnamon Roll. This is bad. Do not do this.

Real-life trauma changes people forever: sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

Traumatic incidents don’t have to have a happy ending, and they don’t need to be wrapped up into a feel-good-plucky-protagonist inspiration glurge. But they have to have purpose in the story; they must move the plot, or create character growth, or provide motivations for a character’s actions.

As an example, my character Cerie's life is defined by the death of her parents when she was seven. It forces her to be taken under the wing of a magical society because she needs housing, and it fuels her hatred for the country who did this to her loved ones.

So, that trauma determines her life path, gives her motivation, and then spurs character growth when she’s confronted with that country and realizes that a people are not their nation. It’s sad, but it’s there for a reason, and it becomes a critical element of the plot. She would literally not be who she is, and would not be dragged along in my whims, without that trauma.

When you consider adding something tragic, ask yourself whether it has a purpose other than being sad. Does the character grow from it? Does it change their life direction? Does it motivate them, or move them away from a certain decision?

If it doesn’t, then say no.

Every Character Must Have a Purpose

Having a world that is populated by people is good, because most of us do not exist in a pocket dimension that consists of us, our pets, and our girlfriend. But this does not mean every single person in that world needs to have a backstory, a name, and a favorite color.

Do you know everyone person in your neighborhood, or are most of them just human-shaped blobs that occasionally wave to you? For me, I know a few of my neighbors, and the rest of them just happen to exist. Hell, I don’t even know the name of my local arch-nemesis, only that she lives at the end of block and yells at me every time my dogs so much as place a paw on her precious grass. (Maybe her name is legally Lawn Lady, as I have deemed her, but I doubt it.)

When you give a character a name, you give them a purpose.

They need to do something useful; they must be integral to the plot. There are a variety of ways they can help out:

Offering comfort or levity in tense moments

Creating friction between other characters

Spurring the MC’s character growth

Becoming the MC’s mentor

Providing key information

Serving as an obstacle

Leading to revelations

Causing problems

There is also my favorite reason to include them: making the reader like them over chapters and chapters of characterization, and then mercilessly killing them so everyone is sad.

If they are a short-term obstacle, then sometimes they don’t need to be named, either. Only when they have a consistent purpose do they require naming and some level of characterization.

Good characters will do more than one of these things: they may be both the comic relief and the wise sage, or they make be a comfort but also cause friction.

Developing Characters Is a Journey

The funny thing is that the more you develop your characters, the more they change. They will do surprising things that you wouldn’t have expected, just like people do. This can be incredibly exciting and lead to fun plot twists that you hadn’t considered before.

Three-dimensional characters are dynamic and push the narrative along.

You can tell that your characters have grown realistic if you stop and realize that they are not the same person as at the beginning of the story, even if you didn’t consciously choose that. You also may notice that what feels right for the character is not what you intended to do at first; they are leading you as you carve their path.

Sometimes you won’t like the character you create, and that’s okay: we don’t need to befriend them, because they aren’t real. But if you and your (good) beta readers find them intriguing, then you’re on the right track.

Now, I would like to believe that my own characters, Uileac and Orrinir, are pretty good. They're assholes sometimes, sweet sometimes, and my god, do they tsundere.

This fast-paced novel follows Uileac (the green guy) and Orrinir (the red one) over the course of their training at the Bremish War Academy. At first they sort of hate each other; then they beat each other up; then they become friends??? and then maybe more??

Horses exchange hands. Poems are written. Maybe some tears and maybe a few tantrums. There's a lot, oh so a lot.

But more importantly, do they kiss???

The way jimin presents is much more obviously queer than any other member (purely based on mannerisms, cause if you hear joon or yoongi talking about love for a few minutes you can put two and two together). And his overt queerness makes a lot of cis hetero shippers (or kpop fans ) uncomfortable because they're forced to confront their internalized homophobia and misogyny head on. So they find a way to diminish his importance to the other members or villanise to cartoonish levels to deal with that discomfort.

Add onto that how a lot of ARMYs seem to assume that just being a BTS fan makes you an ally/intelligent/a good person, and it's the perfect scenario for some cognitive dissonance. Only that JM haters and Tkkers don't seem to have enough cognitive for it to be anything. Even (maybe especially, even) shipping two men doesn't automatically make you supportive of the queer community and understanding of the struggles just existing as a queer person brings about.

They always clamour "but two gay men wouldn't do xyz in a homophobic country", failing to recognise that queer people have existed through so much worse and still have done things wildly more gay than anything Jikook have done.

There's also a lot of them who only see JM's gender expression and "queer subtext" (meaning fashion choices, and the whole concept of his photofolio + album) while disregarding JK's. Like, that man pulled out the most feminine look and attitude in his "bobs+bangs" Calvin Klein shoot. And he fucking owned it. But instead, at least in my perception, the fandom is split on him: one half genuinely sees and appreciates JKs expression of himself, while the other mostly memes it to death and ridding it of meaning. Any perception of JK as a potentially non-hetero man is forgotten the moment he presents as classically masculine again, aka stereotyping the whole queer community to death.

The latter doesn't happen with JM, because - like you said - he fits the common perception of a gay man. Which is all fun and games for the many "The JM effect" compilations, but for cis shippers it starts sliding into homophobia the moment they need to stop perceiving the members as Ken Dolls and instead treat them as actual human beings with all their complexities, faults and incongruent behaviour.

Which brings me onto Hobi. Now, I don't think he gets it quite as bad as JM.

One reason being that there's simply not as many Yoonminers who aren't mainly tkkers. The latter often uses the former to not be seen as a JM anti, but aside from compilations getting spread to push the "married couple" agenda, they don't focus their attention on it. (Also can the "arguing a lot = being in love/married" thing plz die? As someone whose grandparents argue every 20 minutes (real numbers) it's the actual worst and not really a reflection of romance...)

Another one is that Yoonminers do not care about original content at all. From what I've seen during my baby army days, they pick and choose everything down to the tiniest detail. So they mostly ignore that Hobi even exists as a possible variable.

Which brings me to my next point, which kinda breaks my heart: I don't think a lot of shippers in general, and the tkk/ym crowd in particular, see Hoseok as someone to focus their attention on. He gets forgotten a LOT, relegated to the fun sidekick comic relief while the ships are the mc's. (Which is why, imho, it's always his releases a lot of the fandom doesn't care about/actively ignores). The actual deep founded love every single member of BTS has for him - to the point they should actually propose - is insane. How can you think Ym is more real than Sope or Jihope? How can people be that willfully obtuse?

As someone who thinks Jikook could be real (2019, I am looking at you), I had my doubts seeing Jihope interact a few times. But what gets me is how fucking whipped Hobi gets every time he watches Jikook be all adorable. He looks at them like the proud BFF who got them together. A lot of that is his general love for the maknae line and his personality, but that level? The instances of it happening?

Tl;dr: BTS are human beings, also Hoseok is the best person on the planet probably. Be gay, do crime🏳️‍🌈

Even (maybe especially, even) shipping two men doesn't automatically make you supportive of the queer community and understanding of the struggles just existing as a queer person brings about.

This!! Is so key to everything wrong with a large group of shippers and even solo fans. This idea that because you ship on m/m ship over the other, you are no way capable of making homophobic assumptions and statements. To a lot of shippers shipping a potentially queer couple is just another way to fulfill some forbidden romance fantasy of theirs and not actual concern for the lived reality of queer couples in conservative countries.

Which is why the painful torture of two boyfriends being torn apart from each other like star crossed lovers sounds more palatable and realistic to tkkrs than a queer couple deciding to stick by each other's side through thick and thin, despite the risks. It's less spicy I guess, but who cares of queer joy when the dramatics of the other possibility is so much more enticing.

Everytime I see tkkrs make the whole, "being gay in the military is forbidden so a gay couple would never risk going together" argument, a part of my soul dies. I don’t know what's more offensive, the idea that a closeted couple will just forget how to behave around each other after potentially years of being together because Gays and their crazy sex drives, am I right?

Or the alternative explanation that queer people in conservative countries just never make risky descions for the sake of their partners because the law forbids them from even existing.

Both explanations are tone deaf and ignorant of the lived reality of queer people. Its a direct result of straight people dominating shipper spaces. I do sometimes wonder what queer tkkr shippers make of these theories (cause I'm sure they exist as well). Are they perhaps more sane or do they subscribe to this bs as well ?

And oh my gosh yes about jungkook. That boy has very vocally played about with his gender expression and has been the one ignored the most by seriously cis heterosexual fans. This daddy Dom fantasy they project onto him is a bit much though I do think he does enjoy a more masculine cool image for himself as well. Which to the straight mind is confirmation for all their wattpad inspired fantasies of him. It's unfortunate but alas, stereotypes stick , especially those made by people with a very set view of the world.

As for hobi and the ynmner /sope dilemma, I totally get it. Ynmn shippers do tend to get on my nerves from time to time as well and it no doubt does have something to do with the correlation of them to the tkkr subgroup. I have grown fond of the ynmn dynamic since my baby army days I must admit though, because you can clearly see how much yoongi genuinely appreciates jimins presence and how jimin relies on yoongi for emotional comfort. It is sweet, but yeah I don't necessarily see anything else going on there.

Same goes for sope honestly. Nothing has ever made me seriously question them, except the sunshine bf with grumpy bf dynamic they do fit into very perfectly. They also clearly rely on each other for emotional support (Bring Hobi, hes my vitamin 🥺) but yeah Nothing as eye raising ig ? But yes, i can completely see why it's so frustrating to see how Hobi is dismissed within other shipping dynamics similar to the treatment j/m has gotten. Hobi does tend to get overlooked a lot in these bts dynamic discussions when he very much does embody the heart of the group and the members love for him is so heartfelt and grand, we really seriously underestimate his significance to keeping the bts spirit in line all these years.

I love my ball of sunshine who holds and even bottles up a lot emotionally for the sake of his fans and the team. And he always deserves more appreciation by everyone in the fandom (myself included)

Writerly Questionnaire

i was gonna snatch someone's open tag but @the-golden-comet (ty!!!) hit me with one so here we go. this is probs gonna get long and I apologize in advance.

About Me

When did you first start writing?

I was probably writing two page "sensationalized diary entries" when I was 8, but my first foray into proper "I am writing a piece of fiction" was at around 15.

Are the genres/themes you enjoy reading different from the ones you write?

Kind of but not really? I do enjoy reading a good romcom every now and then despite never having written one (and not intending to YET), but I mostly read horror and sci-fi which are my two genres of writing choice.

Is there an author (or just a fellow writer!) you want to emulate, or one to whom you’re often compared?

When I was younger I really wanted to be able to emulate Terry Pratchett's prose, but the more I wrote the more I realized there's no real emulation when it comes to one's own authorial voice, just bits and pieces of all of whom we've enjoyed along the way. Nowadays I don't really care for the idea of comparison, but if it's a must, Grady Hendrix's approach to blending horror with humor is golden.

Can you tell me a little about your writing space(s)? (Room, coffee shop, desk, etc.)

98% of active writing magic occurs in my bedroom, at my desk, mostly on my laptop because it's the only piece of tech with a word processor. When I'm feeling feisty, I'll light a scented candle (apple & cinnamon) and instantly give myself an allergy.

What’s your most effective way to muster up some muse?

MUSIC. Or taking a shower. Or chillin the backseat of a car with my headphones on. Growing up I had painted the words "movement inspires creation" on my closet door because car rides really were the prime way to summon The Muse.

Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and places you write about?

Oh, absolutely. Sometimes it's more obvious than others! For example, Define Home to Me is a folk horror set in a fictionalized version of the town I grew up in. In The Unbinding, it's all about the familial tension that permeated my developmental years. I love writing modern day gothics for that very reason.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing, and if so, do they surprise you at all?

My characters? Queer. Usually POC. Sometimes disabled in ways that makes them moving through the plot impossible. A lot of the times there's some scathing commentary against colonialism and imperialism, trauma, generational nonsense, and so on. Do they surprise me? Yeah, actually. Like hey what are YOU doing here, this is supposed to be a story about space monsters and weird gas stations out in the American West, ain't nobody got time to study the decay manifested by settlers on my culture, the fuck.

My Characters

Would you please tell me about your current favorite character? (Current WIP, past WIP, never used, etc.)

UHH probably Ricky Kronbach? He's a fandom OC which means I'm able to play with him while being unbound by cohesive narratives. I can put him in a blender and he'll still manage to flip me off. He's a brat. He's a weirdo. He's everything to me. Non-fandom wise, probably Verne from The Singularity Project. He may be a side-character and a... anti-hero? Kind of? But he has my entire heart because my god he's a hot freaking mess of a human being.

Which of your characters do you think you’d be friends with in real life?

Probably Mike. He's a cool dude and by far the most normal. We'd talk about plants and watch The X-Files in his living room.

Which of your characters would you dislike the most if you met them?

Nick Miller from The Unbinding. He may be the MC but boy is a massive dick that needs to get his ass kicked into gear.

Tell me about the process of coming up with of one, all, or any of your characters.

I'm a very story-centric person, so a lot of the times story comes before the character. I'll have a solid plot and setting and when the time comes for a vehicle to move through said story, I get to work on the character. It's one of the reasons why I only wrote fanfic for so long! I'm bad at creating interesting and unique OCs so a lot of the times they're just some guy (gn), though they do tend to grow and sometimes throw fits when certain events want to take place that do not match their personality.

Do you notice any recurring themes/traits among your characters?

Not to me cringe on main but for a good two years I realized that the main love interests in multiple of my projects were 1) dark haired 2) blue-eyed 3) British. I'm still bewildered by this. Other than that, family trauma. LMAO

How do you picture them? (As real people you imagined, as models/actors who exist in real life, as imaginary artwork, as artwork you made or commissioned, anime style, etc.)

Depends on the project! TSP is a very special case in which I see half of the characters as actual real people. Other times I go with "actor faceclaims" so that it makes writing feel like a movie.

My Writing

What’s your reason for writing?

Fuck if I know. I just like doing it. It's this pit in the center of my chest that needs to be put the into word or else I feel like I'm going to explode.

Is there a specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating coming from your readers?

Give me those deep-dives into lore speculation. Or if it's something on the more risque side of things, I was feel a deep sense of satisfaction when commenters slip into the TMI scale of things.

How do you want to be thought of by those who read your work? (For example: as a literary genius, or as a writer who “gets” the human condition; as a talented worldbuilder, as a role model, etc.)

As the guy who makes people feel things while reading. Regardless of what feelings those might be.

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Foreshadowing (usually accidental) and setting descriptions.

What have you been frequently told your greatest writing strength is by others?

"It's like I'm reading a movie," is something people have been telling me for well over a decade. Which is mainly the reason why part of TSP's story is visual! I want to try just how well the medium translates through my specific lens.

How do you feel about your own writing? (Answer in whatever way you interpret this question.)

The entire range of human emotion. I recognize that not everything can be (or should even be, for that matter) a banger. Some stuff is shitty, and I will hate, and I will feel unsatisfied, and will make me never want to write again. Other stuff makes me feel like I deserve at least some kind of award, even if the award is "a nice cup of coffee with a lemon loaf". Sometimes I'm proud of it, sometimes I'm not. Sometimes it's fun, and sometimes it's not. Not only is it alright but it is necessary to slip and slide along that spectrum. Which is to say-- I am satisfied whenever I engage in the craft.

If you were the last person on earth and knew your writing would never be read by another human, would you still write?

Hell yeah I would. I'm my own audience first and foremost.

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely what you enjoy? If it’s a mix of the two, which holds the most influence?

I write for me, myself, and I, and actively choose to share that with others. I did my time of trying to write for a wider audience to appeal to the mainstream industry and that just ended up with me hating every damn moment of it, so here I am. Horror and sci-fi aren't as popular as other genres which usually translates to limited reach, but man, those who match my freak will match it, and that is all that matters.

Gonna share my thoughts about NB lesson 24 now. Expect spoilers under the cut. (I haven't read the extra story since can't get access to it. so am keeping that out for obvious reasons.)

So we start off with Asmo first charming Lucifer of all demons and I was very surprised to see it even work. Like holy shit, Asmo charmed LUCIFER. Felt both impressed and concerned pff

Then we slowly start to see things take a turn from interesting to very concerning...Tbh. This way they went about on showing Asmo's charm at a stronger rate, is actually okay with me. Like its bad yeah, because Asmo is taking advantage of everyone around him. Which just happens to be his brothers. But this could of been played out way worse by the writers, since this is Asmodeus after all. The Avatar of Lust.

Some will think he'll just use his charm to do some fucked up shit with his brothers...But thankfully, they(the writers) proved here Asmo doesn't have any true desires for that. So those anti Asmo fans can quit it with constantly saying Asmo just wants to fuck his brothers. Seriously, fucking stop it. It's tiring and annoying now.

Anyway, back to the lesson...So Asmo just uses his charm to just make everyone spoil and pamper him like a literal "Queen". Or as quoted by Solomon later on, making his brothers act like royal servants, which "Queen Asmodeus" had. (I'm so interested to hear more of Queen Asmodeus. Solomon, fucking spill the lore. I NEED it. lol)

Most of the brothers are easily charmed by Asmo's stronger charm now at first. Then there's Lucifer, first charmed of course, then worked on resisting his charm in time. Which apparently the other brothers can do too or try, as implied by Lucifer.

Then we finally get Asmo snapping and his sin consuming him truly now after Mammon upset him a lot with the stuff he told him. At this moment, all the brothers, including Lucifer too, are now victim or fallen victim to Asmo's powerful charm.

Then here's us...Honestly, I wish they let Asmo try to charm MC so we can know if they truly retcon the fact MC can't be charmed or not. Though maybe we'll find out in next lesson...

(Though that whole scene of MC running away from Asmo trying to hunt them down to charm them. Just was some yandere-ish vibes to me. lol Fueling the fics ideas for me now.)

Anyway, we escaped unhinged Queen Asmo's charming wrath pfff, and we were sent to Solomon for help. (ugh...but it is what it is.)

I chose to land on his head btw. Heheh. REVENGE~.

Anywaaaays. We tell Solomon what's going on, and of course he finds this all interesting...but quick to accept this is a problem...Then goes with us to help save the brothers and stop/save Asmo too.

That where we see Asmo just living a spoiled life of being pampered and attended to endlessly by his brothers, and this is where Solomon brings up this is like with Queen Asmodeus and his royal servants. (AGAIN. SPILL THE DETAILS WIZARD MAN. LOL)

I was honestly very concerned over how this will play out with Solomon. I knew he'll get involved since he has a pact with Asmo...But in the end he just kept resisting or reflecting Asmo's charm, even with his weakened power(still having doubts if that's true or what from him lol). Then in the end resorted to using Barbatos to help stop Asmo like nothing. Which honestly...I'm happier with Barb stopping Asmo truly than Solomon himself directly. (Even if Barb showed no mercy it seems...haha)

Then we get left with some cliffhangers and yeah...Can't wait for the next lesson.

But now I got some stuff to say, about Asmo, and Solomon here.

Now you know I love Asmo with all my heart...But won't lie. Hearing him call Jayce/Me a nuisance...Was a huge stab to my heart lol. Like personally, I feel like one as is in life to everyone around. Which is why I'm so distant and all. So yeah...It just sucks. lol But I know this isn't truly Asmo talking truly from his heart, just his sin consuming him making him act and talk this way. But for my MC Jayce, this will certain leave a scar and now moments of doubt when with Asmo...lol the angst is gonna be real from this now.

Now for Solomon...Honestly I still don't like him because of the stuff he's said or done (but won't deny he's kinda hot. so there. happy? lol), but appreciate him protecting us and defending us. Though I just hated how he said this to Asmo...

Like it just proves to me again, he just sees Asmo as nothing more but a tool than someone special and important to him. No love is felt from him or through his words over Asmo. (Like some like to believe they apparently are madly in love with each other...Uh huh...) Just this need to prove he's in control and powerful over another, which is Asmo in this case...Ugh...I hate it so much. Reminds me of those toxic partners in relationships who need to always be in control and more power than other...or some people I know irl who really are like this...

Anyway...That's all to say for now. I think. Might of missed stuff but mind is everywhere rn so yeah lol. I'll say/add more later if anything comes up.

All I know, once this is all over. I expect many hugs and kisses from Asmo. (As well will maybe be writing some angsty stuff over Jayce and Asmo thanks to this all. lol)

I'll be centering my attention on Rituals and Red Tape because I am nothing if not self-indulgent of my baby.

(1) What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?

Your adversities are with you but do not have to define you Bodies are meant to be used as an expression of ones self Corporations are eldritch entities who no matter how much love they shove up your ass will replace you in a heart beat There are no true transitory spaces with which your actions can be left behind, what you may see as a place to visit is someone else's home. Angry Nihilism is the easiest and most childest response to discovering you are not the main character of a story. and Let others be content in their life, not everyone wants to be out there making a name for themselves.

Why did I choose these? To be completely honest I didn't set out with them in mind. These are what has sprung up as I delved into writing more and more and was finding some elements that were hidden from me while I fiddled with the keys. These are as much lessons for an audience as they are for myself.

(2) What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?

So I know the stigma that was (maybe still is) attached to this statement but it comes from my dreams. Wait wait wait let me explain! So for a while I have had (although I haven't for a little bit) an ongoing sort of continuous dream. Not like the same dream over and over but more these dreams take place in the same location and I am always in this same role. I would give my partner "lore updates" every so often because it was something fun. Well on a long car ride (3hr) we spent the time chit chatting and I realized I wanted to make a story out of this. So during the same car ride the basic skeleton of the story started to emerge. Then wham bam thank ya mam fast forward and here we are. A lot of the world building also just kinda spring from my own imagination. Like I'm sure I maybe got the pieces from soooomewhere but can't tell ya, unless they are an obvious reference to something like the Giants on The Farm being "as tall as windmill" being a reference to Don Quixote, just small little nuggets here and there.

(3) What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?

Alex is honestly just trying to get through each assignment with all their limbs still on their body and as little paperwork to do as possible. They just want to have a nice easy life that is comfortably mundane. What I want to do is entertain first and foremost. Like sure my stuff can have lessons and morals and whattheshit but if it isn't entertaining to at least one person I feel I have failed. And also, maybe help someone who needs to work through some stuff do so through Alex or anyone else in the book. I can't say for certain that can or will happen but there is always a chance.

(4) How many chapters is your story going to have?

No idea, as many as it needs to be told in full. I'll know when we get there lol.

(5) Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Teehee time to self promote! This is original content. And I post the first draft chapters on here but I post the more edited and more concrete chapters on my WattPad MaxwellAlabaster I try and have the stuff on here accessible through their own dedicated pages on my blog and up to date.

(6) When and why did you start writing?

I started to write this story about a year ago. It started as a writing only for me kind of thing as I was dealing with some life stuff. But, once I started to write and post my stuff on here I really fell in love with the hobby and putting my things out there for people to hopefully enjoy!

(7) Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?

Despite my verboseness I can be quite shy and anxious. So i tend to follow people who follow me first lol. It's not out of a self inflated ego but an uneasy feeling. So far it's worked out well and I've really enjoyed the people I have interacted with! Even if it's just getting little hearts here and there.

Something I adopted early and fully: Write for yourself (but we've all heard that before!) Fine! Write slop. Like just absolute pig pleasing slop. Not everything needs to be the next big seller, the most enjoyable, or "good" piece of literature. Write what makes you happy and what you have fun writing. Go outside your comfort zone and make an absolute mess of it all. You don't have to post everything after all. This is advice for even those of you that rely on writing for an income. When you can, just write the hottest and most fun garbage that you want. It's really refreshing to just go hog wild and look at the word doc or whatever and go "Wow...this is horrible, I love it".

Also don't let people tell you there is only one way to write. Like yeah grammar and stuff is good for being comprehensible, but there is power in each punctuation you use;or leave out~ Get flowery with your language too sometime Steve doesn't cheer; sometimes his voice carries so high the birds grow jealous.

Lastly: you don't need an english degree or whatever to be a writer, look at me, I have a freakin science degree. Did you put words on a page to convey a meaning of feeling? You are a writer. Don't let others take that away from you. You are a writer because you write dam it.

kdjlsfghdfjklsg OKAY!!!!! ANYANKA!!!! TRAIN'S VERSION!!!!!

First off I fancast her with Emma Myers now or Maya Hawke in the recent past. I feel both of them could handle the role and both are closer looking to the 17-18yo age we’d need for S3!Anya which is one of my main reasons for even recasting Anyanka bc lbr... Emma Caulfield is iconic in the role no notes really on her end. But yeah, both could pull off that “alien who just moved to earth tries to hang with the teenz” vibes that are so integral to the Anya experience.

After that I just lean WAY more into her established backstory and season 3 personality, you know, how she was before they flanderized her to hell and back. Basically more of a cranky adult trapped in a shitty mortal teen body and having to deal with all this shit they can’t remember from their own youth and probably didn’t have to even deal with the first time around. Her moods are all over the place in S3-4 since she’s so new to being mortal and like...18 years old. It’s like being boss baby and needing a nap lol.

She also has beef with Willow and Giles from day one and actually develops a real friendship with Cordelia and Faith-- basically if they’re in the Scooby sphere but not well liked by the Scoobies proper they’re gonna end up friends with Anyanka. Which means by the end of the series she’s homies with Cordelia, Faith, Spike, Oz, Angel, Wesley, Andrew, etc. The only one I don’t think she’d have time for is Amy and that’s entirely because she doesn’t have time for her or Willow and their issues with magic, superiority complexes and how little they listen to her even tho she’s you know, their obvious magical superior on the knowledge front.

Circling back to Willow and Giles it’s because she’s the anti-Willow and anti-Giles in some ways and until a better set up is thought up she’s basically the spirit and mind of the shadow self hands-heart-spirit-mind metaphor that the scoobies take on. She and Spike are basically already the Rowdy Ruff Boys to the Scoobies’ Powerpuff Girls as is. She’s already kind of established as a shadow Willow in the show but I wanna you know...... NOT FORGET SHE CAN DO MAGIC FOR LIKE 4 SEASONS.

Without her demonic powers Anyanka is not as strong of a witch as Willow when it comes to pure strength. But she was an extremely gifted one even before she got 1,000+ years to hone her craft and learn more. She can buy and sell Willow and Giles any day of the week, they basically only win against her because Buffy’s the slayer, luck, MC powers etc etc yada yada. They’re another next level comedy duo. Could’ve removed his chip the whole time but he never asked so she never offered. She mentions this casually in Season 7 and he mcloses it over that for several episodes, it’s a running gag.

Anya and Willow have Tension from Season 4 on about being the Magical Girl of the group. The Scoobies all naturally pick Willow pretty consistently over Anya but then Willow Fucks Up (something blue etc) and they turn to Anya to fix it. It’s a popularity contest and they all know it and it makes Anya bitter and Willow even more insecure. This feeds into her Dark Willow Arc later. Also, she and Anya have a Wizard Fight at the end of Season 6 and it’s Sick Nasty.

Xander still leaves her at the altar because I think that’s actually very important to both of their characters and she does still become a demon again. The major difference is that she doesn’t then stop being one in Season 7. She ends out the series still a demon and the confrontation in the frat house actually is basically a psychological boss battle for Buffy that gets into shit relevant to the season and her own struggles.

Anyanka never really asked for this, she was basically tricked/manipulated both times into becoming a demon but she also gains incredible powers from being like this that realistically she wouldn’t want to give up as they’re a part of her now. Her identity is malleable, she’s been treated like she doesn’t get to have one, she has to fight to make one of her own. she’s in a position when she’s controlled by a cruel man and if she goes outside the lines or does things she feels are right the consequences are dire. She is Buffy, she’s the demon side of Buffy. The counterpoint to Dawn’s innocent youthful human girl, she’s the grown adult demon woman. She’s representing the struggles Buffy is dealing with now in herself and the plot. Buffy ends up deciding to not punish her for the murders both yes because of friendship but also because Anyanka is an irreplaceable asset, even more so now that she’s a demon again, and Buffy cannot afford to lose any of those right now. A logic that Anyanka actually approves of.

I enjoy Anya’s fish out of water and no filter vibes in the original but I hate how they consistently forget she’s smart until it’s useful again. Like lbr, S4-7 Anya is basically just there to say something cringe or funny or say “when i was a demon--” before being shunted to the back again so the Most Important People could talk. Season 3 Anya was cunning, acerbic, clever, knew the basics of how things work in the mortal world and I’m sorry-- I know it’s very important to many people but I hate her monologue in The Body. I just HATE it.

She’s been killing people for over a thousand years. She knows what death is and how it works. She knows it means this person will never eat eggs a-fucking-gain sHE KNOWS THIS!!!!! Now if this was about the emotionalness of that loss-- of being the one to actually do the losing I wouldn’t hate it!!! That actually tracks. Anyanka is basically immortal and likely as never had a single person she truly cared about die in that time. It would make sense if she understands that Joyce is dead but doesn’t know how to react to that or process it. Loss is a thing she inflicts, it’s not done to her. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself.

Also she doesn’t give a stupid fucking speech about running away that makes NO sense and just TELLS YOU SHE’S GONNA DIE with a fucking FOGHORN and then DIES POINTLESSLY IN THE FINALE. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

When Satan can’t detect even a smidge of deception in this human, he gives up. He’s the master of being fake! This human is telling the truth…

Similar to Lucifer (🤢) he takes the time to explain to MC that when Levi said he was going to yeet himself off this mortal coil that he wasn’t serious and MC should get off the suicide prevention hotline.

Asmodeus

Ah, the king of being over dramatic and using a shit tone of hyperbole. This’ll be fun.

Honestly, when it comes to Beel, MC’s complete inability to understand hyperbole and metaphors comes in handy. They truly believe the threat that Beel will kill a bitch if they eat his food.

It kept MC safe that first little while in the Devildom.

Beel is fully ready to protect MC from anyone who might try and take advantage of this… he’s not sure how one might go about doing that, but he’s here to be MC’s bodyguard second bodyguard anyway.
