I knew episode 2 of TADC was gonna be sad but oh my god did that hit me hard. So here are my thoughts that no one asked for but imma give you anyway:

For Pomni and the other humans obstruction seems like a long painful process of losing your sanity.

And from what we saw of Caine’s lil dungeon, he can’t just poof away the obstructed souls. But Gummigo was just gone in an instant. Just a snap. Maybe the fact that they are the one thing Caine can’t fully control is why he tries so hard to keep them involved and interested?

This world is so interesting, sad, and hopeful at the same time. I also found Jax’s involvement in this story very intriguing. Because while he’s obviously an asshole, he gave off a sense of desperation in the end to feel anything from the adventure.

Like he wasn’t just bullying to be mean. It was to feel something. Putting everyone in more and more dangerous situations just to feel an ounce of brain stimulation. I feel like Kinger seems the most insane because he’s completely removed from everything that’s happening around him.

But Jax is all too aware of everything that’s happening around him. And I think that’s making him crazier. I also wonder if Zooble hates adventures because they had a similar experience with an NPC. Or if they just get disassembled all the time in them lmfao.

Also did anyone else notice that Gummigo sounded super similar to the clones in Star Wars the Clone Wars? Or was that just me?

Anyways those were my thoughts! Kinger and Zooble are my favorites and if you read this far damn dude thanks :D

TADC: Thoughts on Jax in Episode 2

Thoughts on Jax after Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2 Dropped.

Massive spoilers below the cut. Just watch the ep before you read.

Amazing Digital Circus had an amazing second episode as we're introduced more to what the adventures are like, and what NPCs are like and ofc the existential horror of being a living AI only created for a source of entertainment.

Also, I love the dream sequence at the beginning, because we actually get some deeper insight into Pomni's thoughts on Ragatha. Feeling like her helpfulness is the guise of like "man, you're not cut out for this like the rest of us" which is typically something a lot of people who have been bullied in highschool perceive genuine acts of kindness and engagement. (which I kind of suspect Pomni might have been, or at least, been a shut-in and didn't have a lot of friends in her human life. )

Jax wasn't really the main focus of the episode, but it wasn't really until the end of the episode I understood his behavior and what this episode is foreshadowing overall.

Since while Jax isn't the focus emotionally, he is definitely the plot device to push things forward. And I mean, a plot device in a very active and quite literal way. He's the one that causes Pomni to clip out of the map, takes advantage of everyone and is just... genuinely an unpleasant person.

I actually really like this.

As, I know the first episode in the digital circus, many people (me included) could perceive or analyze Jax's actions as someone who is "helping" in a roundabout asshole way. Episode Two has none of that here. He just wants Bloodshed, And I love that we're getting additional context on his character.

It's hard to tell how much fan reception Gooseworx saw of episode one before episode two hit production, so I don't know how much of the fandom perception of Jax had an influence on the writing process, but I can't deny that might have been a factor in assuring us "no he's not secretly helpful, he's just an asshole" But I'm just going to assume that this has been part of his characterization from the start and it becomes way more clear as the episode goes on.

But there was something in his behavior throughout this whole episode that seemed off to me. Like Jax was taking up a majority of the B-plot, while Pomni had the A-plot. So I was wondering why Jax seemed to be the protagonist with the B-plot when Pomni was the A-plot when they seemed to be so disconnected with eachother in motivations and telling us things about the characters.

But then it hit me when the episode ended and the two plots merged together.

"who... knows... what could happen..."

And then it hit me.

Pomni finds comfort in an NPC who is going through a similar experience to her and can emphasize, despite their being other humans who have gone through the same thing, due to her self-admitting to being a loner in her human life. Well, she didn't admit it outright, but from how she perceives Ragatha's kindness as an act, or patronizing, it seems like she doesn't have a lot of friends...

Meanwhile... Jax... He treats the adventure like a videogame. Why shouldn't he? He's trapped in a videogame, right? But it really goes beyond that.

The fellow humans that Jax is trapped with, he treats THEM like they're NPCs, while Pomni treats the NPC like they're human.

Jax says to Gangle "Aren't you supposed to be the suggestible one?" Which you wouldn't typically wouldn't say to a person, right? That's something you would say more about a character that you maxed out the dialogue trees in.

He calls Pomni "His Bridge" even.

They're his objects. His tools, his own npcs he's exhausted the dialogue options on.

Jax dehumanizes the players in a way that Pomni humanizes the NPCS.

These are two opposite ends of the spectrum but what really sold it for me was Jax's reaction to the funeral.

And Jax is the one member out of the cast who doesn't even show up to the funeral. (aside from Caine and Bubble but they are AI.)

He does NOT want to think about the Players as real people. And showing that opposite perspective compared to Pomni I think is much as important going forward.

Jax was the plot catalyst of this entire episode, and served the thematic theme of the episode quite well, even if it didn't look like it on first glance.

I absolutely loved this episode and I can't wait for more.

What's Ragathas role in the wonderland au and who is she supposed to be from the movie?

Actually, she’s based on a character that doesn’t exist in mortal form, but in writing… let me explain. You remember that one line from the white rabbit? The one where he mistakes Alice for his maid.

Well. She technically doesn’t exist in either adaptation of wonderland, even in the book. She’s only mentioned by name, and chalked up looking similar to Alice (judging by the rabbit’s assumption). She’s more or less a fan made character in the wonderland adaptations. Specifically the one most recognizable is in a official Disney graphic novel spinoff adaptation by Tommy Kovac and Sonny Liew:

The main reason why I chose Ragatha to play as her is because originally she was the carpenter from the walrus rhyme. But I wanted her to be there with the main casts of characters and not a one off character as I hopefully plan on not doing with the others.

But I also grew a fondness for Mary Ann. She was… different. An easy way to describe about them is that they’re a Denison of wonderland; someone who the audience can relate besides Alice, while also reacting to the worlds zaniness nonchalantly. I love seeing through the eyes of someone from another world as they don’t question things around them, taking it as if it was like New York or something.

I plan a big role in pomni’s arch so keep an eye out.

Ok this may seem like im grasping at straws here but i need you guys to let me cook for a sec-

HUGE TADC EPISODE 2 SPOILERS

We start off the episode with Pomni’s nightmare, which is a reflection of Pomni’s fears and feelings that are going to be expanded upon throughout the episode. Her main fear isn’t abstracting here, it's the feeling of helplessness, the feeling of not mattering to anybody in the circus. This is seen clearly when Ragatha, Jax, and Caine are shown above the cellar, basically saying “good riddance” upon witnessing Pomni abstract.

And it makes complete sense that Pomni would feel this way once you look back at the circus’ reaction to Kaufmo abstracting (before the second episode). He doesn’t get acknowledged as someone who has just passed away, he doesn’t even get a moment of silence. Pomni notices this, and after she wakes up from her nightmare, she seems almost reluctant to bond with the rest of the circus members because this fear is still on her mind.

This is seen particularly when Pomni is speaking to Ragatha. Ragatha attempts to be helpful at any given chance, but most of the time Pomni is lost in her thoughts. Pomni doesn't seem very open to conversate with Ragatha because of her fears. But this isn't unwarranted, Ragatha literally calls the situation from the day before a “doozy” which brings up the fact that Ragatha constantly dismisses important issues, saying that they should just forget about the situation that happened the day before when Pomni left her for the exit. I understand that she’s trying to ease the tension between them, but I fear she might be making it even worse. Additionally, Ragatha dismissing a very important issue like that makes Pomni’s fears stronger, it may seem to Pomni that Ragatha doesn’t care…

When it’s actually the opposite! The whole episode she tries her best to motivate Pomni (“look, Pomni. We’re already friends with the princess!”, “So, Pomni, I’m sure there’s some way you could help out here.”)

and she’s also very concerned for Pomni when she’s gone (“...Pomni’s still on board!”, “Oh man, Poor Pomni. I hope she's alright.”, “I’m more worried she’s having another horrible experience.”, “Pomni! Are you okay?”)

However, all these remarks could be seen as condescending from Pomni’s perspective… And on the other hand, Ragatha feels like Pomni blames her for the situation, and that Pomni dislikes her. 

Returning to the topic of Pomni’s fears, a lot of this is also reflected in her conversation with Gummigoo:

G:“I don’t matter in the slightest. I’m nothing. My life, my memories… my friends… it’s all fake.” 

P:“...I think I know the feeling.”

P:“...I guess I just don't want you to feel like you’re nothing. I don’t want anyone to feel like that.”

G:“But I'm not even a real person. Would I even belong?”

P:“I’m sure you wouldn’t belong any less than me.”

Pomni relates to Gummigoo’s fears!! And Pomni is so compassionate and understanding too! …sadly their friendship didn’t last very long… and that brings us back to Ragatha and Pomni. Ragatha tries her best to be reassuring… unfortunately that didn’t work either. AND THIS WHOLE INTERACTION IS JUST- OH MY GOD... LET ME PUT A HUGE EMPHASIS ON THEIR BODY LANGUAGE HERE:

hey so why are people suddenly feeling bad forJax?? Have we just forgotten the past few episodes??

"he didn't deserve it" YES HE DID!

Have whatever opinion you want, but Jax has been nothing but a TERRIBLE person and needed to be humbled SO bad. Don't get me wrong, I love him- he's my third favourite tied with gangle. But he's a terrible person. How did we go from hating him after episode 2, to now suddenly thinking he didn't deserve his treatment? 😭 mind you, he's been torturing the others for years! He had it coming.

Also the new Gangle and Ragatha hate also confuses me? Let me start with Ragatha.

From what I'm aware of, the hate is from what she said to Gangle. And I get that it wasn't nice, but as soon as she says it, she does point it out herself.

Just a reminder she's literally high out of her mind with no filter. There's no thoughts in that head, because they're all coming out. that's her thought in the moment, and people think unpleasant things all the time. We're just usually able to control what we say.

Ragatha like this also makes her feel more human- she has faults just like all of us do. She's not a completely good person all the time, but who is? People love Jax for being an asshole(me included) , so why hate on Ragatha? This also applies to the Gangle hate.

People tend to hate gangle in this episode because of how she acts, but personally I love seeing her being more than sad and pathetic all the time. She's doing a job that she has experience with. Yes, she gets a little carried away sometimes, but she's also a struggling person that's already not taken seriously by her fellow circus members.

By the end of the episode she seems like she's about to lose it if it weren't for Pomni being there to take the rest of the adventure for her (take the closing shift, which I really liked.) Hell, even then it's hard to tell if she did or didn't purposely fall into traffic. and she still took the responsibility for her actions at the end in the office with Caine.

You can disagree with me if you want, I don't really care. But I feel like people are so desperate to put characters into a black and white boxes of "good" and "bad". People aren't even like that, it's really hard to be an OBJECTIVELY good or bad person, because imo, that's subjective. one person's good is another's bad, and there's also some things that aren't good nor bad.

Sorry this post is so long, I'm just very passionate about this show and the concept of a good and bad person. But honestly, good on gooseworx because you know you're doing something right when you can evoke such strong feelings from people people. Props to her 👏

CAINE ANGST / LORE THEORY 🎩🎪 !

hey guys, just before I get into the theory, you may think this is a bit of a stretch or overboard, and that’s okay, if you don’t believe the theory you can scroll or maybe interpret this as just something to think about instead 🙏

Alright so, this whole theory kind of came into my mind as I was just watching TikTok, and I came across this edit of AM from ihnmaims which apparently, gooseworx took inspiration off of for Caine, except the evil part, gooseworx confirmed that Caine isn’t really evil, he’s just oblivious

I’m gonna take the following quote to base this post on, as this quote was what got me thinking; “because in all this, wonderful, beautiful, miraculous world, I alone. Had no body. No senses, no feelings, never for me. To plunge my hands in cool water on a hot day. Never for ME, to play MOZART on the ivory keys on a (?) piano, NEVER FOR ME. To make love. I.. I.. I was in HELL, looking at heaven, I was machine. And you, were flesh.”

So, taking from this, 2 lines specifically stand out to me the most here “I was in hell, looking at heaven”, you can tell the circus means a lot to Caine, which means he must view the circus as heaven, and also the line “I was machine. And you, were flesh.” It’s not a secret that Caine is AI and the other circus members are all human, as it is stated multiple times in the pilot episode

I know you all are thinking “but bubble, the moon & the sun and NPCS are all AI too?” well yes, they are, but if you think about it on a deeper level, they aren’t real, they aren’t real people, they’re all just caine’s creations, Caine made them by himself, so really, that just means Caine must’ve been lonely and decided to create them 😕

To back this up, you can notice how majority of the AI / NPCS just praise Caine and tell him things to make him feel good about himself, like the moon when she says she loves him (I don’t ship them btw!), princess loolilalu who calls him god, and bubble who consistently encourages Caine, majority of them all just seem to praise Caine

Which led me to thinking, Caine had obviously created all the other AI before the human circus members entered the circus, meaning he was entirely on his own before they appeared, he must’ve felt so lonely that he decided to create AI / NPCS that mimic other humans, NPCS & AIS that make him feel loved, and special, since they all seem to, well majority of them, praise him in some sort of way ☹️

What if he just doesn’t know what real love feels like, what if he wants to feel loved, what if he just programmed these AIS & NPCS so he could feel loved in some way, Gooseworx has also hinted at possible Caine angst in the future episodes too, as when Gooseworx, pomni’s va, and caine’s va were at momocon, alex, caine’s va was saying how he can sympathise with Caine, which gooseworx replied back to him saying “I hope you guys are ready for that..” also, on an older post gooseworx made, someone asked if Caine can feel loneliness, which gooseworx replied to them with a picture of jax smirking, hinting that Caine can feel loneliness ☹️☹️

THAT IS ALL I HAD TO SAY THOUGH REALLY, JUST A THOUGHT, I mean to me personally, it does make a lot of sense, and it’d be interesting to see how Caine angst will unfold in the future episodes, this theory may seem a bit of a stretch, but again, it is just my thoughts, it doesn’t mean I’m necessarily right, I just think it’s interesting to think about in my opinion 😭🙏 it got me thinking after seeing the AM edit, as I’m aware that Caine is inspired by him, he’s just not as evil as AM

He uses his tongue to suck the blood up thru a tiny hole like a straw. Like how a real mosquito does so, he injects his tongue and venom as well to get the blood flowing (this unfortunately leaves the spot very itchy) and drinks it from there. He most often does so from Ragatha or Pomni, but really anyone except Gangle (and any AIs) is at his expense.

Its not the most comfortable situation but thankfully the prick itself feels like a big needle at most

I feel like in the new ep of tadc, we are going to see Ragatha starting to go through something. Like the start of her meltdown. Forgot where I saw it, but someone said something about hoping to see the mean side of Ragatha, and a writer replied by saying 'your gonna love Ragatha in ep 5' some shit like that.

It seems like Ragatha may be slowly realizing the situation of her being in the circus forever or her finally having enough of the circus. Idk those are just my therios. But Ragatha definitely sees herself in Pommi when she first arrives. It's probably why she wants to help Pommi feel comfortable. Cause she tends to always stay positive in Caines adventures for the sake of everyone.
