Queer Reads: Eliot Grayson

For rec 15, we have more werewolves! And also a very salty were-bobcat. 

First off, I love Eliot Grayson. Seriously. I have devoured everything she’s written, and she’s written a lot. Featured in the little graphic are the Mismatched Mates books, of which there are 10 total books. The first three follow the Armitage Pack, then we get vampires (First Blood), and werewolf academics (The Werewolf Experiment), and then we get into darker waters, following some characters who have escaped from a lab run by evil warlocks doing nasty magical experiments on people (Lost and Bound and Lost Touch). And then we finish up with two very different brothers from the Castelli pack, with another vampire book thrown in there.

I should say, these books deal with alpha weres, the most common of which are alpha werewolves, but this is not omegaverse. There's no mpreg, and no omegas in these books, though there is lots of knotting, and if you need to google that, uh, I'd recommend you don't.

Grayson is currently working on another series, The Twilight Mages, set in a fantasy world where magic is a gift from the gods, unless you’re born at dawn or dusk, when the magic is far more of a curse than a gift. I read a review about these books that called them indescribably horny, and that’s very accurate. There is a plot, but it is 100% centered around banging. Luckily, all this horniness is surrounded by feisty characters, laugh-out-loud banter, and spicy chemistry resulting in well-earned HEAs. 

Grayson’s writing has been described as having too much graphic sex, so if you like your romantasy to be heavier on the plot than the porn, Grayson is probably not for you. But if you like any excuse for sex as a plot device, check her out.

The image of the false prophet haunts us all

OHHHHHHHHHH, what a title!

One, TFP canon compliant exploration of Alpha Trion and why he kept himself buried in the Archives - the reasons and motivatiors as he's the last of the Guiding Hand with Prima's death and Alchemist's disappearance along with his Primal Artifact that allows him glimpses of the future and the multiverse. He tried calling on Vector, and his brother only sent him the very insignia that would come to represent the Autobots.

Two, Bayverse fic that focuses on Sentinel Prime's ascension to a new Prime and what drove him to become the mech in the films. After the death of Zeta, his own position became unstable with only Star Saber as his Lord Protector. The foundlings that would eventually become Optimus and Megatron had sparked hope, but a nearly successful assassination attempt had gotten him. Only Star Saber sacrificed himself to ensure the Sentinel's spark didn't gutter out. The catch: Star Saber and Sentinel had melded together, and the zealot that left a huge imprint of what a Prime was meant to be. And it cements canon events. Any personality changes were thought to be a trauma response as, once again, Sentinel Prime stood alone.

Three, TFP fic that focuses on Soundwave in the Shadowzone. Delves deep into the life of the gladiatorial clades and the motivations that drove him to serve faithfully to Megatron. He talks to the 'ghosts' of Ravage, Frenzy and Rumble, and a few other mecha that shaped his outlook in his youth.

Four, is a messy crossover between TFP and One. (Messy because I haven't seen the film, but my boy Megatonus Prime didn't Fall?! Oh, I'm interested!) Specifically, Other!TFP AUs were a cyberized June Darby who ascended to the Primacy as Nemesis Prime because of the Fallen (like directly taking his mantle in burn your sins and wash away your virtues or as a direct descendant) had summoned into Transformers One verse. Go forth, Juno Nemesis, and execute Sentinel and devour the Quintessons! Get yourself a bladed staff!

I'm concerned about Gen-Alpha

They seem to be reverting back to the fat-shaming, name-calling, ableist, racist behaviours of the past generations.

The same jokes and everything- it's disgusting and worrying to see. Gen Z has worked so hard to get rid of this culture and we did make good progress but now Gen Alpha is literally making the world turn back.

At least from what I've been seeing. Anyone else?

But even with the cuts, he can’t stop himself from touching his knife every time he lies down. Even during the day, he reaches inside his pocket, where it’s secure in a sheathe, and touches the hilt. It’s reassuring to feel it there.

It’s a gift, he thinks. A courting gift. If it was only for practicality, Voldemort wouldn’t have bothered to carve such a nice hilt.
