nsfw alphabet: mike schmidt
note: i am a nsfw alphabet virgin so please be kind ^-^ also the wild card was so self indulgent byeskdj
taglist: @dilfity
a = aftercare
mike checks up on you, during and after sex. he brings you water and anything sweet. will also take a shower or bath with you that sometimes ends in round two.
b = body part
doesn't have one tbh. he's obsessed with your boobs, big or small, he likes to make the peaks harden with his fingers while the other is in his mouth. he loves clutching at your chest when you're riding him and looking at your pair while you suck him off. but he's also an ass man — again — big or small. loves to smack it, grab it, knead it, or finish on it.
c = cum
only comes inside when he's pussy-drunk and forgets to pull out. he doesn't want kids but he'll entertain the idea of coming inside if you have a breeding kink, then he'll just buy you a plan b. again, loves to pull out and come on your chest or ass.
d = dirty secret
wants you to tie him up when he's feeling needy, OR wants you to call him daddy.
e = experience
a lot of mike's experience comes from random occurences, such as high school flings, but since he's been taking care of his sister he hasn't had much of his adult life to explore sex that much. he watched a lot of porn to cope with the sexual frustration and it's hard for him to build relationships with women outside his family. it's complicated.
f = favorite position
LOVES IT WHEN YOU RIDE HIM. he gets to see everything, from your pretty little reactions, the way is cock disappears inside and reappears outside your pussy, and he gets to play with your tits
g = goofy
sometimes he'll laugh at some of the things he says when he's dirty talking to you like he can't believe he just said it. he also sometimes can't keep a straight face if you two are roleplaying. other than that, sex is no laughing matter to him.
h = hair
his hair is as messy as the hair on his head. enough said.
i = intimacy
varies based on the context leading up to sex. sex used to mean a lot more to him meaning he would always make it romantic, passionate love making, but he's getting used to more rough sex and quickies.
j = jack off
his favorite way to get off is either you telling him what you want to do to him, or just masturbating to photos of you, purposefully sexy or not.
k = kink
i've included this in two fics so far and i'll say it again: he has a huge voyeurism kink. he doesn't necessarily want to watch someone else fuck you... but if he did? fuck, it would get him hard. he moreso wants someone to watch you guys.
l = location
bedroom but sometimes he can't just help it!! there's no time for when or how, he'll just have to have you right then and there. this is where he really gets annoying because the public teasing goes crazy with mike.
m = motivation
i kid you not he is literally like a wild cat that goes into heat every now and then. however, if you're wearing something of his (especially the classic big t-shirt + panties combo) he just can't contain himself. he's also very much motivated by his anger and stress.
n = no
would never do something that you guys didn't talk about first. he MIGHT entertain the idea of cnc, but you guys would have to go through every explicit detail of what you want him to do to you.
o = oral
blowjobs are fine. they get him off. but mans is the biggest munch that ever munched. he will literally come in his pants while you're riding his face, no stimulation required.
p = pace
again, depends on the mood and the context leading to sex. if he's in a needy mood, he's practically humping your leg and thrusting in erratically and babbling incoherent words. when he wants to be rougher, he'll push your face into the mattress and just pound into you.
q = quickie
king of quickies. they tend to be the most efficient way to fuck when he's a caretaker at his age.
r = risk
things have to be discussed beforehand, in very explicit detail. he honestly wouldn't know what to do to you otherwise. he just wants to satisfy you!!
s = stamina
he'd honestly just be happy as long as he can give you head and make you orgasm at least twice. that's enough for him.
t = toys
would never personally buy a toy but would use the fuck out of them to tease you with if you had any. but vibrators ONLY. he hates anything being inserted into you that isn't his cock, tongue, or fingers.
u = unfair
loves to tease and edge, but it depends on how much time you have and the situation. if it's out in public, he's teasing you and there's a twenty percent chance he'll actually let you come.
v = volume
has surprisingly trained himself to keep quiet for the sake of his sister, but a whimper escapes him every now and then. he loves to tell you to "shut the fuck up" when you need to be quiet.
w = wild card
if you dated him before and during the events at freddy's, you would be right there with him at his career counselling appointment, where he caught his counselor raking his eyes up and down your body. he decided, intrigued, he wants to try a threesome.
x = x-ray
average but very girthy. maybe about 5 inches?? i don't really see him as a grower.
y = yearning
he literally has two moods: in heat or dom. literally the definition of a switch.
z = zZz
he takes sleeping pills after you guys fuck, but tries to stay awake until you've fallen asleep first.

i love kimcom so much.. i love them so much..
theyre so..!! honestly if i think about them too much i'll cry.. and I'm rereading a few bits of dark castle to compare the novel and the webtoon and gosh, sleepyc and team's art really allows kimcoms interactions to feel more alive and goofy, silly even,,
epilogue spoilers ahead near the end
and novel's narration are like the gaps to fill in, both sides elevate the story,, i sound like a food critic but like. oh my goodness you read the part where kdj reunites with sys in dark castle after his revival and youre so taken by how sweet and cute it is. and then you read novel and..!!
I wouldn't have been able to run straight here if it wasn't for this feeling. I saw Shin Yoosung crying and thought that parents probably felt like this.
GOODBYEEEE I AM SO DEADDDD LIKE OH MY GOD YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME???
and webtoon chooses to let kdj maintain the same composure he had when he talked to jihye after saving her just moments prior,, and it works because now i read his inner thoughts in novel and I FEEL SO INSANE?!?!?! YOU BITCHHH SAY IT SAY YOU MISS HER?? no wait .. im getting off topic. this is becoming a kdj sys ramble
Honestly even though i call them found family I don't really classify them as a family either, they feel more like a home? at least at the first half of the story.. In an apocalypse where everything feels uncertain and you've lost all your close friends, you'd end up wandering aimlessly, so sticking to a group is moreso a temporary means of survival than friendship of any sort. It's also why kdj is so essential to kimcom as their glue, as the person who gathered them together, he provided them with that temporary party. and having that 'constant' you can return and realign to in that setting is so.. augh...
not to mention that three of the kimcom members are kids and kdj is their form of stability. lgy and sys hug him whenever they see him because he's the first adult that had ever shown them care. jihye is probably shaken from the first scenario but while she clings to yjh and admires him as her master, he probably doesnt do enough to reciprocate her respect or communicate as enthusiastically. now that i think about it, jihye feels kind of lonely, not young enough to get along with the kids particularly closely and not old enough to be buddies with the adults. does she make up for it by being talkative?)
And at this point in the story its evident that theyre not even that close !! singshong's writing style isnt one that elaborates on emotions and descriptive fluff to begin with, but sys is stated to not be so fond of jihye in ch162 because jihye was rude to kdj, they still feel like theyre in their own cliques. sys and lgy stick together as kids of similar ages, jhw and lhs get along normally, hsy is. hsy. lhs for one narrates kimcom as his 'companions' quite early on, but i'm unsure whether that choice is becuase thats just a suitable word for people closer than 'allies' but not close enough to be 'friends'. ultimately its just a buncha people who are trying to survive, and care about the guy that brought them tgt. it doesnt really feel like anything more than that.
and then as you're caught up in kdj's shenanigans, small snippets pass by and they feel a bit warmer yk. like sys and lgy having a coin flip whenever they're uneasy. (sys states that lgy has "done this before", like he's the one that has suggested the past coin flip(s). it feels like its implying that hes initiated this game system just to cheer up sys because shes a lot more transparent about feeling sad that kdj isnt there.) sooyoung of all people, willing to get an outer god contract to save sangah. jihye, hyunsung and seolhwa chilling in the room during proof of stars, and hyunsung was picking his nose like are you fr they are so unserious,.
in jttw arc ch 433, yoosung growing close enough to joonghyuk to not get intimidated by him and (forcefully (forcefully is a strong word but she straight up just puts it on his cheek unprompted and that is so funny of her)) apply seolhwa's ointment, even giggling when he allows her to do it after she brings up doctors orders.
after proof of stars, theres a portion that goes
The party members supported each other. (...) I saw the white lines connecting the empty universe. The stars, that seemed like they would never meet each other, were facing each other.
please know this: i wanted to cry and scream so bad. ive started to spell out kimcoms names rather than address them in their shortforms, that writing inconsistency is how emotional i am right now.
I can't do the justice of listing down every instance where they've grown a little closer, but i'm hoping to remember more on my second reread.
because orv is such a long novel, the way they gradually grow closer also feels realistic.. and by the time you're in the ch400s, its so clear that they wouldn't go anywhere else without each other.. if i start talking about vacation arc i'll just start sitting and staring at a wall again.
"you're explaining how an average found family trope is realised" Youre right!!! youre right!!,, me when the found family is actually found family.. don't shame me like this.. i'm just an emotional person..
Ah and then you get moments where their unity really shines, and they become god pummeling probability festering forces of nature... and its when one guy's life is in jeopardy. even when they weren't all that close yet, its when they save kdj where they feel most strong. and its a bit obvious because its like, common goal makes people group together yknow, but god the adrenaline and relief when they appeared in demon king selection.. the way their names pop up one after another when they vote for jung heewon's skill..
and 1865 !! 1865 was really the epitome of it all!! oh my god they were all so reluctant to return to the hell of the scenarios but they dragged themselves back because of one fucking guy that they loved too much. and i'm rereading 1865 a bit as i write this but the way they all yelled at their sponsors to pick them is so so funny and the whole speedrunning thing really shows their desperation to quickly find him but also feels a bit fun and even exhilirating with how theyd already beaten the game once, and they were going to storm through the whole thing again to reach kim dokja. like a fuckin earthquake. the lines in ch 536
They had to be insane. (...) These people who lost their minds were clearing the scenarios with insane methods.
YEAHHH THATS MY FUCKING KIMCOM WOOOH OH MY GODD THEYRE SO INSANE!!!!
kimcom's bond was strengthened because of their love for kim dokja, kimcom drifted so close because of how much they wanted to save kim dokja. whenever i think about the 'found family' trope between kimcom, it exists because they love kim dokja, and once again i'm reminded of how much that bastard is loved and how he denies that he is anything else but a reader outside the covers of the story.
It's not to say that all of kimcom's bonds were because of him, but it's clear that had it not been for him, they would have dissipated so much quicker.
agh. what was i talking about again..
genuinely i dont know if ive proven anything through this. i just had to talk about it. i havent even talked about the relationship between kdj and each kimcom member but then the post wouldnt end. sys's section would be thousands of words and i would even have a portion for gong pildu and jang hayoung..
i love kimcom. thats it thats the post.
#orv#3am rambles#dont give me access to tumblr past 2am you get shit like this#orv spoilers#kimcom#kdjc

Fav horror movie recommendations if you feel like sharing? I try to watch one a day in Oct and my list is a little light this year!
Hi hi hi I'm gonna be obnoxious and recommend a few of varying moods!! (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
1.) Ring
One of the main inspirations for the J-Horror boom in the early 2000's, Ring (often referred to as "Ringu") is a moody suspense flick with aspirations towards solving the mystery of a mysterious curse transmitted via VHS tape.
Based on the novel by Koji Suzuki, Ring captures the mood and tone of the book much moreso than the American Remake (which as far as American remakes go is loud but fine) and has a few stand out moments. It's definitely a favorite of mine.
CW: Child Abuse, Mild Body Horror
Liked this? Check out: Ju-On 2, Ring 0, and One Missed Call.
2.) Sleepaway Camp
Definitely not a popular pick, Sleepaway Camp is a typical summer camp slasher (as was the style at the time) and holds up shockingly well*** all things considered! (We'll get to the asterisk in the CW)
Sleepaway Camp is carried by odd, earnest, and fun performances, the kids are kids who yell, swear, and are silly, the adults are either Shakespearean or complete planks of wood, and they all bounce off each other with really naturalistic and hysterical dialogue, it's very quotable. A great fun time with friends. BUT...
CW: Spoilers! Transphobia, the entire film has trickles of mild queer symbolism in some dream sequences, but the big ending reveal is that surprise! The killer is trans! And that is depicted as being more horrifying than the decapitated head they're holding. In the queer lens I view this in today it's quite a fun film with a lot of revenge kills but it's still, in the text and to the mass audience, it's quite a Hallmark of pop culture transphobia. Take is or leave is.
Like this? Check out: Basket Case, Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Cabin in the Woods (I don't like that one but it tends to be loved by most who watch it)
3.) Us
Something more contemporary, more artistic, and honestly funny, Us by Jordan Peele is a very interesting high concept film, and his second overall. The concept of the doppelganger is not new, but to see it plain as day, so well executed is super interesting to see properly.
Us gets a lot of flack for being a bit more bloated and messy compared to other Peele films, but I like to think of the looseness of the rules and the bleakness of the metaphor to be very engaging and beautiful
CW: General violence
Like this? Check out: Nope, Get Out, Uzumaki (yes actually, I think they have a similar situation of an unnatural and bleak conflict that can't really be solved)
4.) La Casa Lobo
Where the fuck do I start with this one, La Casa Lobo is in universe, a propaganda-y children's story for a midsommar ass cult, and it is as beautiful as it is horrifying. This stop motion, paper maché, charcoal nightmare is always moving, always uncanny, and always isolating. It's phenomenal, and while it's premise may be simple, entering the wolf house will make you feel like you can't leave.
CW: animal violence, child endangerment, it's uncanny as fuck.
Like this? Check out: Mad God, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Midsommar
4.) [•REC]
This Spanish found footage "zombie" movie is a blast from start to end with great pacing. Not so much a story as it is more of a "things happening" movie, [•REC] never fails to deliver on the tension or scares. I have a soft spot for the film, as I saw it as a kid with my folks IN PARTS on YouTube like a fucking anime
If that doesn't age me I don't know what will.
CW: Child death, particularly jumpscarey, gore and body horror
Like this? Check out: [•REC2] (think Aliens compared to Alien), The Mandela Catalogue (yes really), Quarantine (American Remake that's not, terrible?)
5.) heck/Skinamarink
Predecessor to recent indie smash hit, Skinamarink, heck is the litmus test as to whether or not you can stomach Skinamarink. Slow, creeping, exclusively diagetic, and immensely creepy. There is little plot, and it's again an experience, but one that feels like a living breathing Nightmare.
The reason heck is here first instead of Skinamarink, is mainly length vs quality vs density. Skinamarink is a very good picture but for the average person it wears out it's welcome by the 1 hour mark, and we still got like 40 min to go. heck is a bite sized 30 minute short film that just gets to the point quicker. However with the reduced runtime, you lose the density of the atmosphere. It's both better but lesser. Both heck and Skinamarink are fine movies, but definitely pick which one you wanna see based on the mood of the evening and your company
CW: body horror, child endangerment (lot of that on this list)
Like this? Check out: Paranormal Activity, The Mandela Catalogue, Vita Carnis
Other Curiosities worth exploring
The Cabinet of Dr. Calagari - it's the first, it's beautiful, and still an admirable work of art to this day, around 100 years later
Gojira - while the character is nowadays more of an action property, the original Gojira is still incredibly harrowing
Tetsuo the Iron Man - loud, intense, and metal as fuckkk. Tetsuo is a more surreal extreme horror movie full of body horror and antagonistic sound design
Chainmail Chasers - a quaint horror series based off of the old smiledog creepypasta. Considering it's just like one gal and her friends it's very impressive, still in progress
Local 58 - a well regarded foreboding horror series regarding mysteries around the moon and how that relates to the local news station
Okay that's it sorry bYE!! (∀・)

BNHA x Persona Crossover Idea Dump
So this is the bone my brain has been gnawing on all day. Ramblings about a potential fusion under the cut!
General Worldbuilding
I really don’t have a cohesive plot in mind, as I’ve just been mashing P4, P5, and BNHA together in my head, but I think this would need a unique set-up rather than just following one of the games (P3 might have been a useful influence, too, but I haven’t played or watched a playthrough of that one; I also know next to nothing about P1 and P2)
no idea how specifically the Metaverse works in this setting, but All for One is using it for his evil ends and doing something nasty with fusions and people and Shadows
I tried picking an arcana for most of the characters based on the descriptions from the Megami Tensei wiki, and also tried coming up with general themes for what some of their confidants and persona abilities might look like, but a lot of it is fairly bare-bones
party’s main personas are their hero forms (so Deku, Uravity, etc.) because I’m too lazy to go find important figures from literature/mythology, and also because it’s BNHA, so, y’know, heroes; maybe their personas would be in-universe comic book characters or something
costume change in the Metaverse might be subtle (if it exists at all), like the addition of one accessory? Maybe gauntlets if there’s some kind of “reaching out” theme?
I don’t know what their weapons are, but I don’t think these kids have guns
currently I’m basing combat elements off of the ones in P5, and the general plot set-up (vague as it is) is centered around the usual “group of 8-ish teens form a team to fight Shadows and eventually save the world”; as a result, most of the adults are unaware of the Metaverse
a different set-up could have the adults more involved from the get-go as trained Shadow-fighters (and possibly instructors for those with the right potential), but most of the following ideas won’t be based on that
Party Members
Midoriya Izuku (Fool, World)
protagonist (probably the most talkative Persona protag there would be); excellent at analyzing up personas’ strengths and weaknesses
since moving to the game’s setting seems to be how most Persona games start, maybe the Midoriyas just finished moving (perhaps to go to UA, or possibly to escape/get distance from Aldera if we want some more dramatic backstory)
quirks aren’t a thing so he wasn’t bullied specifically for being quirkless, but he was definitely still bullied a lot
maybe dreams of becoming a comic creator and making stories with heroes like All Might
his story would probably involve gaining self-confidence and making good, wholesome connections with people (saving others like one of the heroes he looks up to, but also letting himself be saved, too, though in what capacity exactly I don’t know)
persona abilities: phys, wind (air smashes) and possibly almighty later?
Uraraka Ochako (Star)
first and best friend, saves Izuku from tripping and they hit it off
she either takes up aikido sometime during the story or already takes it (could be a different martial art, too, or more general self-defense)
confidant: probably has to do with her habit of shoving down her troubles to help others, and learning to let go of that mask
persona abilities: maybe nuke (I sorta just think it’d be fun and the closest to being space-related) or bless, phys (maybe moreso late-game?), team buffs; wind if Izuku doesn’t already have it covered
Iida Tenya (Justice)
class representative alongside Yaomomo, probably does his best to help Izuku settle in (though this would make more sense if the Midoriyas moved in the middle of the school year or for second year)
the Stain arc is probably a thing, possibly modified but honestly maybe not by a whole lot
confidant: likely dealing more with the aftermath of the Stain arc
persona abilities: maybe elec (mostly because it’s not covered by anyone else), single-target healing, other than that I dunno
Asui Tsuyu (Temperance)
she and Uraraka may already be friends
might be among of the first “victims” for whatever’s going on?
confidant: balancing her responsibilities taking care of her siblings and doing school and Metaverse things?
persona abilities: uhhh good question, probably healing and utility plus one of the elements
Todoroki Shouto (Fortune? Hanged Man?)
father is a rich, well-known politician or businessman, though I don’t know how exactly the All Might rivalry will tie in; perhaps an actor instead?
dunno how Midoriya gets through to Shouto this time or what specifically about but he does
I also don’t know what his persona’s name would be, since his hero name is just his name
confidant: presumably dealing with family issues, maybe with Shouto’s siblings?
persona abilities: fire and ice, maybe some strong healing late-game?
Bakugou Katsuki (Chariot)
not really sure what I’d want to do with him plot-wise but I do think he’s a jock
his and Izuku’s relationship would probably still parallel their canon one, though the lack of quirks and heroes would mean some involved worldbuilding factors would need substitutes
confidant: superiority complex issues
persona abilities: nuke and fire, obviously, and this guy is all about offense
Shinsou (Tower?)
possibly also a new kid, has a reputation as a delinquent (maybe because of one or both of his parents being involved in shady stuff?)
wants to be a detective, looks up to Aizawa; his own personal sleuthing ends up getting him in trouble and/or involved with what Midoriya and the others are up to
honestly this whole thing started because I was imagining Shinsou being in the P5 protag’s situation of moving into the attic of a coffee shop run by Aizawa, but I couldn’t really imagine Shinsou filling Joker’s role or Aizawa just running a shop, so—well, now we’re here (edit: now that I think about it more Shinsou might actually be a pretty good fit for a Persona protag specifically because he’s kind of a loner and not the most extroverted person, as the protags tend to be relatively quiet, it’d just be a fair departure from BNHA narrative roles)
regardless, Aizawa will end up taking him under his wing in some capacity, whether adoption or just mentorship; in fact, maybe Shinsou started going to UA because he got taken in by Aizawa after an incident with his family, and some of the rumors around Shinsou are that he got put with the detective because he’s a troublemaker when it was really just what worked out best
confidant: probably dealing with whatever his shady family members are involved in, if it isn’t already resolved in the main plot
persona abilities: psy, curse, utility (especially debuffs and maybe some team barriers)
…aaand I dunno who the eighth party member would be. I’d want it to be one of the girls because we need more of them, but unfortunately BNHA is a quite a boys’ club. This is also the spot that would be filled by a (likely animal) mascot, but Nedzu is my only idea and I can’t imagine him as a party member. Maybe this spot goes to Yaomomo.
Misc. notes on the rest of Class 1-A (these are pretty sparse)
Yaoyorozu gives me Empress arcana vibes
Kirishima would probably make a good Strength arcana, too, or possibly Emperor
Kaminari makes me think very much of Yosuke and thus the Magician arcana, though his element would obviously be elec
Ashido could also fit Lovers maybe, but other than that I wouldn’t know what to do for her
Jirou could give the party music? No idea what the actual effect of this would be, though if this was a game I bet it’d be a function where you could listen to all the soundtracks as you unlocked them
apologies to Tokoyami, Shouji, Kouda, Sero, Hagakure, Ojiro, and anyone else I’m forgetting but I’ve got nothin’ else right now; there’s also not enough arcanas to give one to everyone anyways
Supporting Cast
Midoriya Inko (Priestess?)
gotta be honest I don’t know for sure what to do with her but I want her to be here
maybe she gives Izuku food (bentos, perhaps), and her katsudon would be one of the best HP and/or SP items in the setting
perhaps she’d have a confidant about making her own connections with people, though she’s probably still friends with the adult Bakugous
there’s likely also the element of her coming to terms with her son doing dangerous hero things, as in canon
Yagi Toshinori (Strength)
popular comic creator who was also once a popular actor or something until a (supposed) tragic accident?
definitely a (former?) persona-user, but can’t do much in the Metaverse now either due to health difficulties or some kind of trouble with the connection
maybe Izuku first stumbles into the Metaverse during an incident involving Yagi, and Izuku does some kind of selflessly heroic act (not sure if he unlocks his persona then or not, also not sure if Bakugou’s involved), and Yagi decides to mentor him
passing down a persona seems a little weird considering personas are so closely related to the self, but maybe there’s some kind of legacy in fighting Shadows that he’s passing along?
confidant: maybe helping him adjust to no longer being the main hero, or helping him forge or rekindle his own relationships
persona abilities: can’t fight much anymore, but used to be an absolute powerhouse with phys and almighty (ha)
Aizawa (Hierophant)
I don’t think he’d be a teacher in this setting, so how about a detective, a la Dojima; doesn’t know about the Metaverse, but is trying to figure out incidents that are (unbeknownst to him) involving it
not sure if he’s a police detective or a private one; could be he’s private/consulting while Tsukauchi is a police detective or police chief
has a vested personal interest in any incidents involving kids, especially missing ones, due to past trauma (Oboro)
neighbor of the Midoriyas?
still becomes Eri’s guardian, somehow, and maybe whatever incident surrounds that is how he starts learning about the Metaverse
has an emergency foster license so he can help out kids who get caught up in bad situations, though the arrangement is usually temporary (note that I have no actual knowledge of how that kind of licensure works)
confidant: probably finding closure re: the loss of Oboro (although maybe Kurogiri can get a happier ending in this?)
persona abilities: I doubt he’d be a party member, and unless he was already in the know about or involved with the Metaverse I think he’d hate the place, but as far as fighting goes he’d be good at nullifying attacks and getting critical hits
it’d be really funny if he naturally nullified all elemental attacks by sheer virtue of “all of this is illogical and not real” but he can’t be that powerful
Eri (Death)
because I can’t imagine her as anything but the specialist magical little girl, she has some kind of connection to the Metaverse, like perhaps the ability to send people there at will (though she may not understand it herself); this, as in canon, is exploited by the yakuza and maybe caused some tragedy in her past
I don’t think she’s the way the party usually gets into the Metaverse, but she could happen to be involved in the first incident or one of the later ones
confidant: getting her used to life after rescue and helping her to not be afraid of her abilities or guilty about the past
Nedzu (Magician/Councillor?)
token animal mascot character???
definitely a Metaverse creature of some kind, but I’m tempted to have him still somehow be the principal of UA (UA would have to be a very strange school, though, which could be part of the plot)
maybe he’s a sort of Velvet Room attendant, though not limited to staying in the Velvet Room; I’d feel weird having him replace Igor completely, but he’s gotta have some behind-the-scenes knowledge and reasons to meddle/instruct, and I think he and Igor could have an interesting dynamic
Hatsume Mei (???)
weapons and armor creator
either she loves to makes model items (maybe as theater/film props?) or she’s just straight-up engineering fully functional weapons and armors to other children her age
Yamada Hizashi (Sun)
radio show host, of course!
if this was a game, some important events would be mentioned on his show, much like some things were talked about on televisions in P4 and P5
could still be an English teacher who thrives on MC’ing the pep rallies, but it’d feel a bit weird to have him be a teacher and not Aizawa, so he might be a full-time show host and entertainer
Kayama Nemuri (Lovers? Moon? Devil?)
I’m really not sure what to do with her, but maybe she’s a fairly famous model/actor/some other kind of entertainer who also does investigative work? Like a spy/informant for certain circles?? Modeling/acting/whatever would probably be enough on its own, though
another possibility is that she’s a perfume-seller, and these perfumes end up doubling as buff/debuff items in the Metaverse
Thirteen (???)
the science teacher maybe??
Snipe (???)
if this setting used fake guns like P5, Snipe would totally be the supplier, but I just can’t imagine Izuku with a gun
Villains
League of Villains
addressing them collectively because I don’t really wanna bother fleshing out the individual things
these would be the guys whose Shadows are the bosses
maybe a theme of this story would be reaching out to others, and so defeating the Shadows would open up opportunities to help them? Kind of like changing hearts in P5 but with more actual redemption, even if they still need to do time for whatever they’ve done
might not be just their Shadows that need to be fought, though; something is strange…
okay so @starlightvoidtwo mentioned the idea of them being Metaverse assassins like the Strega group from P3 (or Akechi from P5) and that seems like a perfect role for them
All for One
made his own Velvet Room and is fusing people with Shadows (Kurogiri), or somehow manipulating Metaverse powers (rest of the LoV), possibly to the point of (or at least aiming for) some real-world crossover?
as with canon, was thought to be defeated by All Might
I don’t know what his true nature is, if he started off human or was formed by the Metaverse
Okay, I think that’s pretty much everything I’ve got at the moment. Might edit later if I think of new stuff (or remember things I’d forgotten), but I really need to go to bed. I don’t think I’m going to do anything in particular with this crossover, but if anyone has related ideas I would love to hear them!
#Oh look another self-indulgent crossover AU dump#Never thought I'd be this fond of crossovers but it's pretty fun to try and puzzle out how things could be blended together#Spent my whole 50-minute drive to class listening to the P4 soundtrack and chewing hard on this (pondered some before now too)#Figured I might as well put it to paper and share Cx#I'd tweak the formatting but I'm too tired to try anything#Anyway if you read all this I hope you enjoyed!#MHA#BNHA#Persona#BNHA x Persona#Crossover#Patchy Writes#Patchy Babbles

Kafka was like 12 at the oldest when his mom died. Of course it was a nightmare. We don't really know what age Kafka and Mina was when the first kaiju attacked their homes in canon, at least from what I remember. And given that the second in my au happened months after the first one he was nowhere near a teenager or adult when he lost his mom.
Though regadless of which verson I'd use, Kafka statys in touch with his dad for years. And visits when he can after his old man move to his grandparents place.
His dad always found it a bit akward that Kafka ended up working as a monster sweeper, given his family history. Know or not. But in this verson it actually helps his son greatly as Kafka needs a lot more food to fully function as a adult since his kaiju side is awake instead of dorment. Had it stayed dormant, Kafka would have not needed to eat kaiju meat he stole from his workplace at night every few weeks.
It was the same for his mom and Proto. While Proto found he loved human food, with some junk foods being his favorite. The old kaiju had to hunt other kaiju to properly get the needed nutrition and not bankrupt themself.
Akari was no different, even if she needed to eat less of the amount her dad needed being only 50/50. Kafka need even less, which helps greatly when he has to go and get said kaiju meat.
And yeah after the main events happened, a lot of stuff got filled in for Mina. She did give Kafka a good smack in the head for waiting this long to tell her the truth, but she understood his fears.
Awkward dose not even fit properly with how Soshiro feels about this all. He was infact the one who found out that No 8 was that welp in the old file after he did some digging with Okonogi. As both feld like they had seen the kaiju somewhere.
You can imagien when the two of them reported that No 8 had been spotted before main events as a little welp caused a bit of a mess. There was enough familities from the old pictures they had of Kafka's early form that there where little doubt that it was true.
Some of the seniors where happy to know that that meant no mama kaiju to protect him, since he's an adult now and they know his mom is dead. And feel dread when they realized said full grown welp is now the strongest kaiju know to mankind.
I'm not surprised at all that the entire kaiju side of his family had larger appetites. Only a Pokemon Trainer is equipped to deal with something on such a magnitude. Kafka munching on kaiju corpses when his coworkers are gone or aren't paying attention. It isn't uncommon for something to eat at the bodies so no one would suspect a thing.
Mina honestly would smack Kafka cause her friend really can't do things like this alone. She's just glad he managed to not get into trouble much earlier. Kafka is a Grade A disaster after all.
Soshiro and Okonogi have a lot of material to build their case on. Especially since the Third Division in general likes Kafka. (He's practically their heart similar to Mina.) Although his family line is definitely being monitored, even moreso if Kafka has kids down the line. Tiny had greatly amplified his kaiju blood thus the potency might be way more than 1/4 now.
Kafka feeling awkward in Riot mode honestly sounds funny. Bigger scarier No.8 acting more like s panicked kid cause Tiny just supersized his Kaiju form and the poor man is trying to calm the thing down while fighting Isao. "It's an idiotic old man, not a kaiju so fucking chill!"
Kafka swears he has an extra feral kid in his head than a mysterious body mate.

It’s been so long since I’ve heard of Ranma 1/2… Can we get more Ranma fighting technique analysis? Or Ryoga? Honestly I’d be surprised if Ryoga was able to make it to the tournament without getting lost.
Hoo boy. I would need to go back and spend a lot of time with the manga for that. It's been a long time since I've thought about Ranma 1/2 too.
There was a time when Ranma 1/2 was a really important series to me. It was the first anime I ever watched that wasn't being broadcast on a TV channel. My cousin was a big anime nerd and went to conventions and stuff, and he brought over a DVD with the first few episodes of Ranma 1/2 to show me.
I was hooked. I watched the anime. I read the manga. I tried to find the video games. I was all over this series. As a kid, my favorite characters were Nabiki Tendo and Ukyo Kuonji. Nabiki was the character I saw the most of myself in, while Ukyo was the one I sympathized with and wanted to see win the harem plot.
Which was never gonna happen, of course. Ranma 1/2 was a harem plot the same way love triangles are triangles. The show features a clear and obvious romance subplot between Ranma and Akane, and all the other characters are third wheels who are here to make comical shenanigans happen and get in the way. It doesn't even pretend otherwise; Akane is the only suitor that Ranma's ever shown having feelings for.
I don't know if that's typical of harem plots; I never got into the genre. But it's clear from her writing that Rumiko Takahashi was more interested in using the harem setup as a foundation to throw wacky characters into slapstick shenanigans than in exploring their relationships with one another in any amount of detail. It's a comedy, much moreso than a romance.
But when it is a romance, it's only ever about Akane.
I don't remember if it was the anime or manga, but I remember there was one plot where Akane trades her engagement with Ranma to Nabiki. As a kid, that was my favorite; I was so upset when they reverted to status quo because I fell instantly in love with Nabiki/Ranma as a ship as soon as the plot suggested it.
As an adult looking back, I'm less fond of it. Nabiki's main role in the story is capitalizing Ranma's harassment, doing things like taking compromising photos of him to sell to his stalkers. She and Haruhi Suzumiya would get along well. Selling Ranma to Nabiki in an arranged marriage for real would be super gross, actually.
But I was like 12 when I first discovered this series and didn't know better.
So. Yeah. This series was a major part of my childhood and still holds a special place in my heart. But it's been a long time since I've thought about it in any significant detail. I'd need to read back through it before I'd be able to provide any significant analysis of it.

sorry for aqualad posting at like 2 am on a thursday morning BUT he is literally the only character ever. ive read a lot of comics w the young sidekick/inexperienced parental figure superhero dynamic and aquaman and aqualad is by FAR my favorite.
aqualad, at the start, is introduced as a child who is deathly afraid of schools of fish, to the point where aquaman has to step in and offer to help him get over his fear after learning about his past.
[ID: Two comic panels from Adventure Comics #269. The first panel shows Aqualad surrounded by fish and clearly panicked. Aquaman reassures him. The second panel shows Aquaman holding a very frightened Aqualad, who pleads for Aquaman to send the fish away from him. /end ID]
this really sets up their relationship a lot through the next issues, as aquaman is trying his best to deal with parenting but is largely unprepared but aqualad loves him more than anything else in the world. aqualad doesn't really have any other adults in his life, as basically he was sent away from atlantis for his purple eyes, which are seen as a sign of the infant being unable to live underwater. hes been an orphan for five years and despite the fact that he can breathe underwater, the proximity to fish made him much too panicked to continue living in atlantis so he was shipped up to surface.
aquaman is SUPER patient with aqualad as he tries to get over his fear of fish and aqualad gets attached to him super quickly (honestly i feel the complete lack of anyone else who really is a good figure in his life really adds to this). but the big difference here, between a lot of the other stuff ive read that follows this trope, aquaman wants aqualad to go back to atlantis after he conquers his fear of fish. he LOVES the kid but he wants him to be in a place where he can thrive. even as aqualad is heading back to atlantis, aquaman is thinking about how much he misses him and how much he cares about him. aqualad ends up using fish to trick aquaman that he went to atlantis and then returns and is taken under aquamans wing. i think a lot of the first issue really stands out as different to other characters like this, but honestly the biggest thing is just how there is depth there in a specific way. they both kind of help each other out (and while that is present in other versions of this dynamic, it comes off differently here).
however, one of the most interesting bits comes in the issue after, Adventure Comic #270. This is Aqualad's second ever appearance and the issue focuses on Aquaman saving a fortune teller, who predicts that someone who he has recently met will cause him harm and take over his position as king of the ocean.
[ID: A panel from Adventure Comics #270 that depicts Aquaman and Aqualad eating birthday cake underwater. Aquaman brings up that he doesn't have a home for Aqualad to live in, and Aqualad doesn't care, as long as he is with Aquaman. /end ID]
He is in denial that it is Aqualad at first but Aqualad keeps doing kind of fishy (pun intended) behaviors that make him convinced that the boy is out to hurt him. The end of the issue reveals that for Aquaman's birthday, Aqualad has been doing all of this to make them a home. what specifically is interesting about this to me is that neither of them have a home: aquamans mother was banished from atlantis and aqualad doesnt want to go back. and that in contrast to a character like batman, aquaman isnt providing for aqualad, aqualad is providing for them both. not saying this in the way of aqualad is forced into a more responsible role, more that they are moreso equals in the process of their partnership, which is something i find deeply interesting.
another example of this comes from Adventure Comics #278, where Aqualad goes to school for the first time. Aqualad is at first hesitant about school because of how much he wants to help Aquaman, but it is clear Aquaman wants what is best for him and wants him to have a more balanced life. Once he is reassured that he can still help Aquaman, he gets adjusted to school pretty quickly, until about half through, when helping someone, he gets hit over the head with a pipe (not even the first time this has happened). aquaman is SO concerned about him passing the exam to be able to fully participate in the school that he gets fish to help him jog aqualads memories. which imo just really shows the fact that they both really want to do all they can to help each other. and idk it means a lot to me because neither of them really have a ton of people in their lives and just really lean on each other.
#twist rambles#im sorry im like. 15 issues into this chrono and having the best time of my life. ive been doing this all day (outside of working on the#spreadsheet for rowan and chores) and its just.. i could never be sick of this!!#to clarify at the point im at rn- he does not have a real name. god only knows why aq/uaman did not give him one. so thats why im not#using his name for the most part :) for like... accuracy of what all i know this early in the chrono :)#i just. god i need more ppl to care abt him!!! like hes not th emost niche dc character i love by far but like. hes so awesome. come with m#into utopia (60s aq/uaman comics)#sorry im putting this under a read more bc i need to get this out bc im going insaneee over them#the amt of times ive misspelled his name as awuaman... it haunts me#this isnt even like. coherent i just need ppl to care abt him ok. i need to rb my fave g.arth art actually after this#i will not deny that he does put that child into perilous situations at times. however i think its very sweet and makes me insane.

More Jin team thoughts but not Gijinkaverse related. Mainly on the pokemon's bond with Jin + the potential backstories. Again, not Gijinkaverse related, those will have a different backstory for each character.
Esme( Sceptile): Esme is Jin's starter and thus is the closest to them. On the surface, they look like each other's opposite, with Jin seemingly being this angry angsty teen and Esme being this very laid back treecko. Despite this , they both have this tendency to jump into things without fully thinking things through, so they are kinda on the same wavelength in that regard. Esme's laid back nature did help Jin with their anger in their youth- she would help calm them down by resting on their shoulders or , as a Sceptile, gently gnawing their head/ putting pressure on their head ( I need to check Sceptile's height I don't think it's taller than Jin as an adult actually. The point still stands). Jin's determination to do the gym challenge ( up till their dad) and the frustration they would feel whenever they lost badly ( ie, Wattson) was what finally made her start taking her role as leader seriously - she felt that she was letting her trainer down, her team down, by not being as active of a leader as she should be. In a way, Jin and Esme balance each other out, and it's what makes their bond so strong.
Fang( Mightyena) : A rather short one bc Fang got retired from battling at some point. She's somewhat of an outlier among her species: she isn't the type to really be aggressive with other pokemon, moreso staying in her lane. She's also, as far as her species go, isn't that intimidating ( mainly bc she doesn't have that ability). When she was caught, she expected to continue to stay in her lane....only for her trainer to be a kid with a temper and her leader being an unserious treecko, both whom would often get themselves into situations that weren't necessary. So she quickly found herself trying and failing to be the voice of reason. She was never good at commanding an audience ( or so she thinks) so she would often just watch as her teammates got into another avoidable fight. Though, even so, she grew to love them. Even when she realized she couldn't really keep up everyone in terms of raw power, she still liked being part of this weird team she calls family. Jin especially has been kind to her - they like petting her in particular, which she assumes is for her fur ( Tomoko conducts static so they would have to be careful petting her). She was actually surprised when they would enter her in some contests! It honestly flatters her that Jin sees the beauty of the not that scary mightyena. And for that, she's grateful.
Sora( Swellow): If Fang was the outlier of her species, Sora was the Pinnacle of his- which also kinda made him an outcast lol. He's very prideful, both in his appearance and in skill, to the point where he was notorious within the route he was in for starting fights constantly, all to show off his skill and prowess. And then he got caught by Jin after getting beat by Esme. Naturally, this wounded his pride. Jin and Sora are honestly pretty alike, mainly in how stubborn they both are, and because of that, they would butt heads a lot, with Sora not really listening to Jin unless it was something of common interest ( aka, winning a battle to prove a point). Throughout their journey, both Jin and Sora not only chill out a bit, but gradually start to better understand each other. What really helped with this was the shared interest in pokemon contests! I think both of them sharing this, especially with Jin first entering the Cool Contest, effectively helped them get along. By the end of it all, Sora and Jin share a deep respect for each other, with Sora occasionally showing bits of affection to their trainer ( whenever Jin mentions it, he gets huffy though, lol)
Something I thought of just now: Originally, Sora was just going to be a wild pokemon Jin caught. But then this idea came up to where Sora actually used to have a trainer before Jin, maybe multiple? I've always imagined Sora being incredibly skilled, but lacked proper guidance, mainly bc he didn't believe he needed it. So maybe he was a pokemon who used to have a trainer(s), but bc of his pride, said trainer(s) thought he was too much to handle, and would release him back into the wild - which was even more of a problem bc he kept picking fights. I think it would be very interesting, honestly, and would add more layers to why Sora n Jin didn't get along at first. Sora was abandoned before for being too difficult, so why wait for his trainer to give up on him as well? And that would make their mutual respect and affection all the more sweeter.
Vex( Mawile): Vex is interesting bc outside of his rivalry/romance with Sora and his general love for fighting, I haven't fully fleshed him out? I know he's rather cheery, eager to go along with almost anything. He's not energetic per say but he is lively and lax enough to like a good laugh and playful tease his teammates. But even with all that, it's still kinda hard to figure out how he thinks, especially towards Jin. This is a problem given Vex is one of Jin's designated mega pokemon outside of Esme, and in order for that to work, I need to establish a deep bond between Vex and Jin. It's easy to say that they do, but it would be unfair to just not have any details of their dynamic.
I know he likes fighting. I know he enjoys using sneaky tactics to get a win ( fake tears, sucker punch etc). I know he isn't afraid to really go in a fight. But there has to be more than that right? I'm not sure right now, Vex is someone I have to think about more.
Tomoko( Manectric): Tomoko is arguably the one pokemon here that has a good head on her shoulders, at least in comparison to the battle hungry Sora n Vex, or the carefree Esme. Fang too, of course, but unlike Fang, Tomoko commands respect. She is no nonsense, both towards her team and her trainer, and isn't afraid to zap em to get their heads straight. She doesn't do this out of cruelty, but rather bc she can see how this team could work well together,but doesn't. If she's going to be part of a team, she wants to be part of one that's aligned together. I think Jin early one would be frustrated with her boldness, honestly feeling that she's always disappointed in them or their team. Getting scolded by a pokemon in its own language is not a great experience. But again, Tomoko isn't doing this out of ego or distaste. She is rather compassionate and tries her best to understand others, especially her trainer. I think she realizes how she's been affecting Jin, and gradually goes from scolding to simply being a source of comfort for them. Her approach to things can only work so well after all, and while it helped Esme realize that she really did want to be a leader, it only made Jin feel more insecure- something she feels incredibly guilty over.
I think Tomoko gradually softens the more she's on the team. Again, she was always compassionate and respectful, but her strictness with the others could come off strong. She gradually learned to ease up a tiny bit, and let the chaos of her team flow - she loved them for it. She's still not afraid to zap someone if she thinks they're being stupid ( cough Sora and Vex, cough)
Mirage ( Flygon): The baby sister of the group! She's as lovable and excitable as one would expect, she's the light of the party! As a trapinch, she was pretty much coddled by Jin - who thought she was adorable - and liked being carried around when given the chance. While her singing was horrendous as a trapinch, Jin was nothing but encouraging, loving the small Pokemon's enthusiasm and passion. Mirage's desire to battle didn't really come from her trainer though ( well it did, a bit), but rather a new and improving Esme, who was actually starting to take her leader role seriously. Mirage wanted nothing more than to be as cool as her big sis! So she works suuuuuuuper hard for her trainer, even if she loses a lot! Jin encourages her though, and is never angry with her, which is great!
Overall, Mirage is much a needed bundle of joy and positivity within the group. This continues even as she evolves and starts to tap into her dragon side more ( which makes her a bit more difficult to handle, but she's still overall the same energetic trapinch Jin met in Mirage Tower). She is upset that Jin can't hold her like they used to, or she can't perk on Jin's head once she's fully evolved. Though she's gotten into the habit of just flopping on them lol.
Caspian ( Milotic): One of the newer editions of the team, and thus haven't gotten to know Jin all that well. While in game I was able to evolve Caspian rather quickly, I don't think it would be that quick in universe. Caspian was caught as a Feebas, so my best guess as to how him and Jin met was that Jin potentially rescued and healed him? Which ultimately decided for Caspian to join Jin, to repay them for their kindness? I think I'll semi stick to the canon games version of how Feebas evolves- either by beauty stat or via trade. Maybe Lisia actually helps Jin make Caspian feel beautiful - more than he already does, anyway. I feel like Caspian was honestly fine with his appearance before evolving. He didn't think he was the most gorgeous thing ever, but he didn't hate his appearance either. Getting pampered was certainly an experience for the rather modest and somewhat reserved Caspian though - but he would be lying if he said didn't like the gesture.
Upon evolving I think he became the much needed calm and serene feeling the group needed, as Mirage was the more lively addition. Caspian was always soft spoken and gentle, often softly cooing or gently nudging when it comes to Jin. By the time Jin catches Caspian, they aren't like how they were before, but I also imagine the stress of team magma and aqua are really starting to get to them. Caspian as a Milotic is long and cool, so Jin would find themself resting between a coiled Caspian to help ground themself. Caspian, of course, is more than happy to oblige.
Spirit ( name will change) ( Ninetails): REALLY short bc I only used to him a tiny bit and he's very new: I don't really know what his personality and relationship to Jin is just yet! So he's kinda up in the air.
Okay that's it! MAN I'm beat. If you wanna ask questions about these guys or give ideas on backstories n shit ( to be clear again, this is NOT the Gijinkaverse version, just the pokemon as actual pokemon and their lives before and after getting captured), feel free to share!

Hi Starry, I’m back! :D
I’m glad you like the questions and that they aren’t annoying, because every bit of lore I read is like a taking a shot of dopamine lmao. And that picture of Fire getting a hug 🥹 brightened up my whole day. Trust me when I say that you guys reposting pictures and adding content to older ones isn’t obnoxious in the slightest. The art (at least for me) makes it easier to digest and form connections about the story in my head, plus y’alls art is great—who wouldn’t want to look at it? The lore/art in the last one was particularly interesting. (Like, young Red looks like such an polite, upstanding citizen and then you scroll down two pages and now it’s like “Tf you lookin crazy for”? Was that an implication that Steven had something to do with Red going missing/becoming Glitchy? And Leaf is funking DEAD?-)
Anyways, you know what that means! Question time: Leaf Edition!
The First (and most obvious) question: What happened to Leaf? Why is the homegirl dead? (Why was Leaf being dead, out of all the things I’ve seen so far, the one thing I wasn’t expecting?)
Second: What’s the relationship between Leaf, Fire and Blue? You said that Blue and Fire’s murder-suicide loop was spurred on by her death, so were they friends before she died? Did they see it?
And two smaller questions: How tall are the main four (Red, Blue, Fire, Leaf)? And do they have Pokémon Teams? If so, what are their teams looking like?
That’s all till next time! Have a good day/afternoon/night wherever you are!
TUMBLR FUCKING CRASHED HALFWAY THROUGH ANSWERING THIS ASK IM SO MAD FUCK. FUCKKK
We honestly can't thank you enough for all your questions, compliments, and just overall being a huge sweetheart. We're really happy you've been enjoying these, and whatever dopamine you get from seeing these, we probably get like. TENFOLD, just for seeing someone so interested, and giving us a chance to talk about this wild ride of a story. So really- thank you. This has been a delight!
This one is gonna be REALLY long (I have to rewrite fucking HALF OF IT now DAMMIT), as we want to talk on the stuff you crossed out, too.
(I'll put their heights and teams in a follow-up post btw, so watch for that.)
1. Red.
Young Red is an interesting point in time. See, he and Blue had a LOT in common- a lot more than you might think. Of course, Red was a good kid, genuinely- always so caring for his Pokemon, kind and passionate about them. He was polite to the people around him, and always soft spoken, when or if he spoke at all. The adults around Kanto and his hometown always adored him for how well mannered he seemed- a real role model, and stand up child. Just a bit shy.
In all truth though, Red moreso had a very strong mask. One that he only dropped, allowing himself to relax and act like himself around one person: his best friend, Blue.
Both of those boys were a lot more immature and competitive with each other- the main difference being Blue didn't hide it like Red did. They LOVED competing, always trying to one up each other in everything they did. When they were together, Red wasn't afraid to speak his mind, signing or whispering to his friend with a smug grin on his face. Around his friend, Red could really be himself, and they both loved it. Having so much fun, roughhousing and taking jabs and just being children around each other. A lot of people, when seeing this, would assume Blue- who was always rude and a bit more standoffish- was a bad influence, but really, the two couldn't be happier than they were with each other.
... When you spend God knows how long, trapped in a dimension with no human life, desperate and angry with unholy forces eating away at your mind, will, and sanity. Let's just say masking doesn't end up staying a necessary skill. A good portion of why Red being Like That now is honestly? Just because he just gave up on trying to make himself presentable.
He has bigger problems now than worrying about how people see him, anyways.
2. Steven.
I'll try to keep this short, as the Strangled Red elements of this story could warrant it's own post entirely.
To put it simply: Steven is, in part, directly responsible for Red's fate.
It wasn't HIS decision, mind you. He barely even thinks for himself anymore. But there were things that wanted Red, and Steven is very suggestible when it takes the right approach. So it lays itself out so simply.
Red trusted Steven, after all. Idolized him. Missed him. Would follow him anywhere. What better possible option could there be?
Of course Steven is the one to drown that boy on the coast of Cinnabar.
3. Leaf. (cw for animal death.)
Finally, the star of the show for this ask (as if this isn't long enough already). I can see why the information for her is more supriding as we haven't posted as much for her, which. We do feel bad about- our ability and motivation to make art for her was severely hindered by our struggle (I'm talking MONTHS) to make a design for her that we were happy with. Her story is WELL figured out, though, so we're glos we get to discuss! And now that her design is actually finalized, there should be more visual stuff for her coming.
So what happened?
Well! As is the entire premise of Missing Numbers, each major individual is based off of various Pokepastas. The easiest way to answer that is one of two of Leaf's sources:
Abandoned Loneliness.
But first, we have to go further back.
Fire was not the only Vessel made by the Almighty.
... He was the first, and the favorite. But he wasn't the only one. Leaf was the other.
Once Fire had come to Palette town, the next Game was set to begin any time now. But as the Almighty looked down on the world, He looked back at the others that had been built, and realized that the new Kanto was missing something. An alternative option. Though He was reluctant to change the structure of the world, it was, by all means, an improvement, and something the Players would expect after the past Generations.
She was less meticulously made than her brother. She kept her Heart and Mind about her, as there wasn't time, nor was it safe, to rid her of them like Fire. She would serve well enough as a Vessel regardless- and she did, as when the Game began, Leaf was chosen as the player's Avatar. (Not quite what the Almighty had expected, but the choice had been given for a reason, so it would be foolish to change anything now...)
Blissfully unaware of the nature of her existence, Leaf proceeded to go on a triumphant adventure through Kanto.
This is a good time, before we get back to the tragedy, to answer your second question!
Leaf, Blue, and Fire's dynamic changed throughout their journey through Kanto. At the beginning, let's just say things were... Tense.
Fire acted hollow, in the beginning, as he was meant to. Genuinely, it was fully expected that he'd be chosen as the players Avatar. So without it, he was left... Quiet and cold. It seemed he didn't care for anyone- not Blue, nor his sister.
Blue, meanwhile, was NOT in a good headspace. But at this point, after about two years passed since Red's dissapearance, he'd learned to hide those feelings. The people of Palette town, including his Rivals, knew him as this bitter, irritable person, resentful towards the world for incomprehensible reasons.
Leaf was the only "normal" one, basically. A cheerful, excited girl, whose heart bled for everyone she cared about and always tried to stand for the right thing. She didn't know where she came from... She had no memories of her life before "Red" and Hazel (Fire's mother) Yuuji found her, seemingly abandoned in the tall grass just outside of Palette Town, under the falling autumn leaves. Taken in as a part of their family, she grew attracted quickly, her loyalty and love and impulsive need to protect coming to be what she was known for.
With all this given, when the journey started. Leaf HATED Blue- he seemed to despise and bully her brother more than anyone. Blue didn't like Leaf much either, but wasn't as harsh towards her as he was Fire. Fire was as... Neutral as ever. But he silently followed the two once they went out, almost as if he wanted to watch over them. Ensure their safety.
As the journey continued, over time, away from the stuffiness of their hometown, the three started to grow closer. Maybe the fresh air was doing Blue good. Maybe Leaf was learning more about the world. Maybe Fire's deep brown eyes were growing warmer.
Somehow, a death was the tipping point for all of them to finally become friends. It's absurd, how grief was the thing driving them apart, but ultimately went to bring them together.
When Blue's Raticate died, he quickly fell back to his lowest point. Angry and hateful and heartbroken, lashing out, and ultimately running away. ... But it put everything in perspective. Through all her guilt (it was in a fight against her, after all, that the Raticate had been so severely injured), Leaf suddenly understood why Blue had been so horrible before: he was mourning. And he needed someone. It didn't make her forgive him, but it made her extend a hand.
And for once, knelt over the grave of a lost Pokemon, Blue accepted it. From that act of kindness, Blue genuinely began to get along with the others, and slowly, the trio came to be friends- all the way up to and after the Championship, where despite losing again, Blue felt closer to the others than ever.
... It seems in this world, good things don't last.
The events of Abandoned Loneliness happened several months after Leaf became champion. When revisiting Raticate's grave with Blue, Leaf came across a peculiar Pokemon- a horribly sickly little Eevee, too weak to even cry. Leaf had never been the kind to leave a Pokemon in need to fend for itself- kindly, she took the little stray into her care, determined to nurse it back to health.
The properties of Glitched or Corrupted Pokemon aren't something I need to dive into right now this is already ungodly long. What's important is that the Eevee was not a natural Pokemon. It should've been dead.
It always starts with a Pokemon that should've been dead.
Let's just say... Everything unraveled from there. Fully explaining what the events of Abandoned Loneliness translates to in Missing Numbers isn't something I have the energy to write at the moment (this is so long and I've been putting off finishing it cause I'm still mad all my initial writing got deleted >_<).
The important part comes down to Leaf's demise at the hands of this "curse." Bonded to that sickly little Eevee, when the world pushed her to put it out of its misery- voices of the damned screaming, unbearable, suffocating, demanding she DO IT DO IT DO IT, you can't bear to watch it suffer anymore, after all... The destiny bond it held her in dragged her down with it.
Nobody witnessed her death. She was alone and isolated at the foot of a mountain. She thought she could solve everything herself. Thought she could handle it all.
Her body was only found days later, curled up on the ground, rotting blood seeping from her eyes, with the body of the poor little Eevee in her arms. Trapped and suffocated by the hands that killed it. It was far too late. To maje it worse, her friends were the first to know of her death.
Fire was the one who found her body, after all.
Leaf's demise was a SEVERE breaking point, and unlike Fire, she didn't get a chance to be revived by God. Her modern presence in the world was not... Authorized, let's just say. Leaf had to claw and fight to keep hold of herself and climb back to existence in ways unprecedented, and believed to be impossible. But despite being a corrupted entity, her body was stable. And so, rather than Smite her as he would other Glitches, the Almighty decided to make good of an unintended situation: He could make use of her. A man on the inside is a powerful tool, after all.
So long as He kept her anger for her fate targeted towards the "true" threats.
I could keep going but I've babbled on way too much already for this post lol. I'm so sorry about the delay on this one- life REALLY got in the way. And Tumblr's buggy ass mobile app 💀
hopefully i can elaborate more without any crashing in the next round if there is one ashfshf
#i plan to keep doing this according to questions we get so we keep posting like. Jusst based on interest#that being said i would LOVEEE to talk about the biology mechanics and nature of Glitches (bats my eyes)#it'd help put a lot more in context probably#anyways. leaf has issues#genuinely i was planning to recount the full story of how she ended up. like that but#im so tired dude tumblr fucking up really took the energy out of this response after a point#anything else you want me to explain or elaborate on u know you just gotta shoot an ask though okayyyyyy#missing numbers

❤️ 💛 💥
Ask date: July 11th, 2024, from this Writer's Ask Meme
❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic? “I try to not make expectations of an otherwise predictable ending.” from "Lost With You" :3c It's one of my favoruites because... It's a mic drop within itself, yes, but, as I am not sure anyone thought to pick it up (or otherwise haven't expressed it to me), Viktor is lying!! But I purposely buried that so far down in the subtext heh. also I just love love love saying it in his voice. It rolls off the tongue in a Czech accent.
💛 What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing? It's one part what I have learned about writing, moreso what I have learned from reading other people's writing: Push your own boundaries (if it appeals to you) and be honest, wear your heart on your sleeve. All tied together with, "write for yourself," which I have been doing since the jump, your stories not only will find interested like-minded people, but people who needed to hear a sincere reflection of themselves to better understand their own world. "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable."
💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change? This is a hard one, as I write for two masterpieces (Hannibal and Arcane), a timeless classic (Sherlock), and two dearly beloved pieces of dated nostalgia (Soul Eater and Knight Rider). Of course, I'll more pertinently apply this to Soul Eater because [looks around my page...] but, what would I change? Of course, I could repeat everyone's knee-jerk answer in having the anime follow the manga, I suppose... I do wish Stein and Marie's return in the books was more segued than it was. In the same vein, I do kind of wish Stein's recovery in the anime either wasn't due to a flash of magic and/or that he had more residual symptoms afterwards, but there's only so much I can wish for in that regard, especially congruent with the screen time he does have thereafter in the remaining episodes (I do like that he at least has comments of residual issues in the books, though!). I guess I could say, more conclusively, that I wish there was more on an element of dealing with loss and tragedy both in the anime and the manga through the eyes of the kids (and/or how that could contrast through the eyes of the adults, too). Death being mentioned as a very real thing in NOT was actually something I appreciated--too, how very much "this could be the end..." all the adults had near the end of the main canon books. I suppose we did have that contrast in the manga going into the moon arc, but, if I could dream, I almost wish that there was a sort of class or lesson based around death or grieving. ...Though, honestly, I guess I could say something on that of reality, huh? ^^;
Thank you for the ask and for your patience ^^

Honestly, Blossomfall's motivations really stop me from liking her, and so does the fandom's treatment of her. Even nowadays when people reflect on Millie as a parent, it's always about Blossomfall and not how poorly she treats Briarlight once she becomes paralyzed (like the time she's talking to Jayfeather and says he's "dragging out her suffering"). Granted this is moreso a problem of the Erin's views of disabled people and not a flaw exclusive to Millie, but still. Like, I just can't bring myself to feel anything but disdain. If she was a younger apprentice and not a young adult? Sure, yeah. A kid wouldn't necessarily understand the gravity of why their disabled sibling, born with their condition or getting it later in life needs more attention than they do. But young warrior Blossomfall doing this? Nuh uh. Shut up, your sister has to hear your mother say she has the worst life ever and no chance of a happy future while your father does nothing.
I feel like there's been a good turnaround of recognizing just how abysmal Millie's behavior is to Briarlight and also more acknowledgement of how Graystripe is totally fucking absent in all this.
Yeah, like....the way they write her, her issues are with her mother. She seems to acknowledge this, she knows she's mad Millie and is being unreasonable by blaming Briarlight and just sort of throws her hands in the air and says "guess I'm a bad person! :/" and like. YEAH. YOU ARE. Because nothing fucking comes from this. It feels like a half-assed pity moment the authors are trying to make but it just makes me go this shit sucks, this character's motivations are really poorly thought out.
Like girl you're too old to be fucking talking like this and authors, you cannot be trying to make me sympathize with the character who is currently snipping at her fucking disabled sister for being treated like shit by their mother.
#deer rambles#like millie says some heinous shit to briarlight#like horrible abusive shit#and then they try to pull this with blossom?#GIRL IDC HOW SAD U ARE UR SISTER IS BEING ABUSED AND UR THROWING A TANTRUM?

Had a random brain wave, but do you think one reason people are so weird about the Timeless Child is because people get so weird about adoption, especially adoption narratives that don't fit into some very specific boxes?
You know, I honestly don’t know?
But mostly just because I honestly don’t know the intricate ways people are weird about adoption (in fiction & real life), as far as specialist subject goes, it’s not mine. I only have the broad strokes here.
Though, from a purely story formation way, this plot does Not fit into any of the adoption trope boxes that I know of, yeah. Admittedly, it is easier to buck trends when Sci-Fi is involved, but I don’t think i’ve seen anything like this sequence of events played out anywhere else before and I watch too much sci-fi.
I think maybe the evil stepmother archetype is something people are used to, which isn’t Exactly what Tecteun is but close enough, and that it’s a narrative people are used to seeing play out in a way where the poor kid Escapes, but this story didn’t provide that neat of a box for this child. The kid did not escape, the child was used and abused until the evil stepmother was done with them and moved onto better things, and they erased their memories and dumped them in an orphanage, never bothering to look them up again. Well, not until The End Of Days anyway (that they orchestrated). That’s not exactly a fairy tale ending... Brothers grimm maybe!
Hm, upon further thought, I don’t think people are being (that) weird about the adoption aspect (or, no moreso than usual. I think there’s some deifying of the scared crying kid on a barn as some kind of superior and not difficult to swallow orphan narrative. loneliness can be cured easily, as can fear, it’s not too Messy. You don’t have to think about anything too difficult), but I DO think they’re being really weird about the idea of a neglectful and abusive parent, which doesn’t surprise me in the slightest, because people are Always weird about abuse stories.
I only say not so much about the adoption thing because I Mostly consider the adoption aspect of this story as The Doctor, not the child. Admittedly this is personal interpretation, but the leaning on openly and frequently calling this group of companions The Fam. That when they get their first real conversation 13 says she doesn’t Have a family anymore, and these three people who heard this then happily welcome her into theirs (they could easily have been angry, and they weren’t, they were kind).
Graham sees her as a peer, treats her equally and with friendship, she honestly Has to have stayed in his house in the 2 weeks we don’t see in wwfte, joining the family in their grief. He obviously has to have noticed the parental relationship she has with Ryan, the Ryan who lets 13 act as a kind of mentor and adult figure to him despite how easy it’d be for him to not let people in like that anymore. Yaz’s first action when 13 finally gets them home is to invite her to have tea with her family, and we know from the helpful baby sister slam that Yaz inviting people around is not a common event.
A lot of the show, historically, is either the doctor being adopted into weird little families or the doctor adopting themselves a weird little family. That’s not New to the show as a theme. Literally, One kidnaps himself a family and a tv monument was born that exists 60 years later. As soon as Chibnall mentioned Why he included the adoption angle ofc the asshole contingent came out and said why’d he include something like that in the show because of his own issues!!! missing that the show is literally just this over and over and over again. I don’t know the dude, have honestly spent years not reading his interviews bc i learnt from the past two guys that Nothing can be gained from learning how much of an asshole the showrunner is and decided to remain in clueless bliss (Am bitter that even this was stolen from me now), but did it ever occur to people that a show where a constant theme of found family Might actually be one of the reasons the show appealed to him as somebody who was adopted to start with? Like, he did not make up this theme, and just because the people unable to grasp dirt basic tropes didn’t see it doesn’t mean everybody else didn’t. That is, imo, very much a part of this. Just grasping at any straw possible to have a go at him no matter how idiotic it looks.
Anyway, I digress, I see Most of the adoption story as 13 herself, rather than the timeless child arc, which I think is more accurately summarised as kidnapping, neglect, child endangerment, *insert unknown species name here* experimentation, forced labour upon threat of death and death of loved ones, in general physical and emotional abuse... I’m sure i’ve forgotten a few, but that’s the gist of it.
I Know the master uses the term adoption, more than once, but like... The entire point of him in the situation is that he’s wrong even if Technically he’s correct. I mean, he has his valid points where he’s not wrong and because of some things i feel genuinely sorry for him, but he has framed this whole thing in his head as some rescue of the child, he says that tecteun adopts the child instead of abandoning them and therefore rescued them, making this a good action vs bad action situation instead of something nuanced.
But, as we learn in survivors of the flux, this is Not how 13 views this at all! She’s in active distress that Tecteun Took! her! instead of trying to return her home. She just wanted her to have tried! The Doctor would do anything for a lost and scared child, and yes, sometimes they’ve taken children in, but with the consent of the child (who were all old enough to make their own choices) and when they wanted to leave, the doctor accepts this. 13 Clearly understands the difference between taking somebody in when they have no other options and taking somebody you want to keep for fun without bothering to see if there is a better 3rd option.
(Admittedly, the master does make a passing comment about tecteun leaving evidence in the matrix as Maybe being an apology of some sort, so he must recognise on some level that Somewhere in this story the doctor is victimised, but there is no specification to exactly What thing on the long list of grievances that he clocked as actually bad.)
But I think, personally, after seeing 13′s distress at Tecteun not even bothering to Try to find the child’s home and just saying finders keepers, I will never see this part of the story as an adoption narrative, i didn’t before to be fair, but now i could never. It is kidnapping. It is imperialism wrapped up in a story about two people. It’s Henrietta Lacks, from a medical perspective. But I would not call -in a non fiction story- a child who was kidnapped and raised by their kidnapper an adoption story even if the kid was treated like a king, so I don’t here. It doesn’t fit my definition. I don’t know what Chibnall intended, but I know what I get from it. If you find a kid you try and send them home, or find somebody who will. Taking them home and trying to raise them is gonna get you arrested.
I Mostly think the audience is being weird and/or stupid about the abuse angle of this story. I mean, the target audience of the show is tween/teens, but younger kids watch it and everybody knows it and it tends to pull its punches. For an example, If an 8 year old misses that the parade of different regenerations means that Tecteun kills the kid over and over, that’s probably the point. When adults look at that and fail to make the connection that you regenerate by Dying and that this kid has burned through half a dozen bodies in their adolescence and that this doesn’t just Happen by accident, then that’s not the same thing. Like, it is So blatant what happens here, the child is killed repeatedly. There is nothing else more abusive than this repeated murder and yet the blinders are on. This era even went to the trouble of specifying that regeneration is exceptionally painful. It’s not especially difficult to grasp, and Yet.
In general, I think the show very deftly displayed a deeply abusive dynamic over the course of both TTC and Flux, and the story didn’t fit a box because the poor victim didn’t escape in a traditional way, they were dumped like trash with no remorse, and then put through whatever else the uncaring society did to them without even their own past to ground them. And then. Then. Eventually they do escape of their own power and get away, and once they’re gone they build themselves into a person who wants to do good. They make themselves a hero with the help of their adoptive families. In fact, they’d be nothing but the jerk who ran way still with the morals of those whom had abused them if not for their adoptive families. They’re never perfect, but it’s the trying that matters. What matters is their found families taught them this.
Honestly, people are weird about adoption narratives. they’re weird about abuse narratives. They’re weird about anti-imperialism narratives. They're weird about stories that go out of the box. That they’re actively Trying to poke holes doesn’t help. That they often make themselves look like idiots who can’t comprehend a children’s show while poking holes is, frankly, at least good for cheap entertainment.

Hey Poorni, I mostly just lurk here but sometimes check in with your account and am always blown away by how quickly and drastically you change your mind on so many people and ships! Like on a Wednesday you'll post several times about a pair being a notp and by Thursday you're praising them as an otp and reblogging them constantly and then by Friday or Saturday you're disliking them again lol. For example, you've gone from going on about how much you hate Neia to suddenly calling them an OTP lol. A few weeks ago you didn't like Zaya at all and now they're like your biggest OTP ever. You liked Kitty and then hated her more than anyone I'd ever seen and then will swing back to liking her. And so on. We all change our minds about some ships and characters, and it's great to have an open mind. I'm just curious what causes you to go from hate to love to hate to love again on so many characters and ships so quickly---is it based on rewatches, reading other people's metas, Or do you just kind of wake up feeling totally different than you did the day before? You can ignore if you want to, I'm just always into learning about what makes fans tick, and you changing your opinions so frequently interests me!
First of all, I love long asks so ty for sending this haha!
Secondly, I wouldn't exactly saying that my love for characters and ships change day by day. It's actually the opposite most of the time where it's very drastic.
Like with Kitty, as a kid I liked her but then I saw a few threads on her and I was like 'ok she is kind of annoying when I think about it'. Then rewatching at like 16-17 (i think 17 tbh), she's very irritating and I feel like she's glorified WAY too much (especially in t7s). So then I started having more complex feelings but then after a few more discussions with my friend Sunshine and rewatches, Kitty is actually pretty fucking annoying. She babies Eric and literally never sees him as an adult, slut shames Donna for having sex with Eric and seems to think Donna "corrupts" him. And don't even get me started on how shitty she treats Laurie. I know Laurie is far from perfect, but no one deserves to have to hear their own mother say 'i love you because I have to' and 'Rosemary made a better baby than me'.
It sounds like I'm overreacting but honestly idc. Kitty is not this sweet little good cop to Red's bad cop and she sure as hell didn't have any "character assassination" like Jackie, Kelso, and even Eric did in T9S.
With Zaya, I really loved them as a kid but then hated them because of the shit Zig would pull on Maya. When I did come back to the fandom for good, I had moreso complicated feelings where they're pretty toxic but they can be good together and I'm glad they're endgame. And then I started looking at more Zaya stuff (mostly from Ashton haha) doing rewatches, which made me go back to loving them full force. I still have love for Matlingsworth, Camaya, Zori, and find Zesme interesting at times, but I love Zaya a lot too and I'm glad they're endgame.
As for Neia, I don't think I had much of an opinion on my first watch. I might've been annoyed by them. But I did prefer Jeia over everything. And when I got to Tumblr and did more rewatches, read fics and all that, I was really just done with Neia. My main issue with them has always been how they fucked over Nikki and don't even get me started on how ooc Gwen's advice to Leia was on handling that shit. Plus I didn't see any substance with them aside from having the same wants. Then I ended up being moreso fascinated by the idea of Neia crashing and burning, leading to a Jeia/Geia endgame.
There was a short period where I really wanted to be more open minded with Neia, so I tried looking at the more shippy stuff but I just couldn't do it haha. But eventually I tried again, hence me shipping them now.
Don't get me wrong, my issues with canon Neia are still there. Especially the substance parts, but I personally blame that on the writing more. For all Lindsey's claims of loving Neia, she sure doesn't act like she loves them. Until the 9th episode, they didn't have any alone time. Which, by a writing person, doesn't make sense because Leia is canonically best friends with Nate's sister AND in the dame friend groupl. Not to mention, Leia dated Nate's best friend, yet they don't interact one on one till the NINTH episode? Not even like them accidentally bumping into each other. Like come on!
Short answer: Metas, rewatches, (rarely) discussions, etc.

Sit Down, Shut Up X Digimon AU
I'M BACK WITH ANOTHER DIGIMON AU!
Honestly, the 'I am going to create an crossover that is so doesn't make sense' image sums this up nicely regarding niche special interests and hyperfixations.
Either way, for those of you who aren't aware, Sit Down, Shut Up is a 2009 animated sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development. While it is generally thought of being either a 'you love it or you hate it' show, it has a special place in my heart and despite its raunchy/lewd humor, I find it strangely comforting to watch.
And because I've been getting back into both Digimon and Sit Down, Shut Up as of late, it is only natural that my brain has the 'genius' idea of combining the two. It started with the innocuous question of 'What would the cast be if they were Digimon?' which is something I've asked for multiple other fandoms as well, such as Pepper Ann, Braceface, and Fillmore! to name a few.
I don't have much of a plot super specific to the show in a Digimon setting, but I do have an overall plot which I tend to use in most of my Digimon x (show) AUs involving the 'Digital World' being a near copy of the human/real world, with monsters having jobs, children, school, that sort of thing. All without knowing they're living in a simulation. The characters eventually find out they DO live in a simulation by another race foreign to them (humans), and find themselves having to go to the 'real world', where they find themselves facing a brand new threat, the Seven Great Demon Lords; seven powerful creatures, each representing some type of vice, who were created by the humans to purge the simulation and start over.
But some of them have their own interests in mind…
That's the usual scenario I use when 'brainstorming' (haha daydreaming) but with Sit Down, Shut Up I could go for less of the adult 'raunchy humor' everywhere, and instead incorporate more of an intense/edgy feel more geared towards adults with some added adult humor, rather than the moreso 'for kids' I would do for say, a Fillmore! or Pepper Ann Digimon AU.
Because it's eight champion-level (unless stated) adult Digimon who work in a digi-school and can barely tolerate one another, with some tolerated less than others. Then, everything they've known to be true is revealed to be a lie and they're forced to team up with those same people and kinda try to maybe understand them?
Now, I could see petty drama and 'canon-typical behavior/adult humor' at first being the norm, (kind of like how the sitcom only got thirteen episodes, which is usually when a Digimon season is still lighthearted. Unless you're Ghost Games that is. RIP Bokomon) but then getting Knight Of Cerberus'd and becoming significantly darker. Kind of like what Bojack pulled off, with the perfect mix of adult humor and a meaningful message.
You're probably wondering by now, what did my brain answer when asked that fateful question? Well, here's the Digimon I decided would fit and their lines! Rookie/Child forms are just here for reference, all are at Champion/Adult level unless otherwise stated.
Larry: Lopmon - Turuiemon - Antylamon (Deva) - Cherubmon (Virtue) (Can also become Vice if shit hits the fan)
Miracle: Terriermon - Gargomon - Rapidmon - MegaGargomon (May change Rapidmon and MegaGargomon if I find suitable mons)
Ennis: Elecmon (Violet) - Leomon - GrapLeomon - BanchoLeomon (Ennis is normally a GrapLeomon because I thought it would be fitting to have him at such a high level due to how 'great' he thinks he is and how he'd be himbo material if he wasn't so… Ennis)
Stuart: Guilmon - Growlmon - WarGrowlmon - Gallantmon/Megidramon (I thought Guilmon's/Growlmon's naivety was a nice fit for Stuart, along with the fact that they can and will fuck you up, e.g. Megidramon as an alternate digivolution)
Helen: Tsukaimon - Saberdramon - LadyDevimon - Star Beelmon
Andrew: Kotemon - Dinohyumon - Kyukimon - SlashAngemon
Willard: Piximon. Nobody knows much of his past, and frankly, they don't really care.
Sue: Haven't actually decided yet LMFAO.

Tbh, I’m not afraid to write slight/more than slight OOC characters anymore. Like, yeah I’ll cringe if someone portrays a character in a way I don’t like, or I’ll complain about misinterpretations of characters I LOVE, but… sometimes it can be fun to read or write characters slightly different than canon.
Percy in a lot of my fanfics IS ooc. Like, not to the point of being unrecognizable as the same character, but enough that I do sometimes get comments about it.
And it’s definitely something I do on purpose.
Most of my fics are AUs— meaning the characters have different experiences, relationships, memories, and privileges that can affect them in a way that might make their personality or even how others see them different than what we’re used to in canon.
For example, TGAR Percy is popular, a golden boy, and he dates around a bit. This is obviously very different from the kid in the books who was branded a trouble maker, who didn’t have any school friends outside of people who turned out to be like him (Grover and Tyson), who had a hard life that showed.
But in TGAR, that wouldn’t make sense— they live in a world where everyone knows the gods exist and their whole society has been built up around that fact. Demigods are minor celebrities. Children of the big three moreso.
Percy grew up with private trainers, with a spotlight on him (but his mom still around to keep him grounded), adhd and dyslexia are revered and accommodated in a way they aren’t in our world because they’re signs of divine blood so he wouldn’t have had as much trouble in school, he didn’t have Smelly Gabe, he didn’t have to worry about money or constant danger or any of that— so while he’s still sarcastic, powerful, loyal, a bit of a doofus but one who has a lot of intelligence other people overlook, he’s also very well adjusted.
Any quests he went on were his choice, for fun or training. Because of his status as a son of Poseidon, people were more eager to befriend him, to date him. Without Sally that could have very well messed him up in other ways, but he had a GOOD support system. He likes to date, because he still craves a genuine connection when surrounded by so many yes-men, but he’s still Sally’s son and very respectful even if his relationships are short lived (they’ve never felt right to him.)
Then in “all of you, all of me”, he’s a little closer to canon Percy, but now with an academic twist. I won’t get too much into it since the story isn’t there yet and spoilers, but he had a similar experience growing up as canon Percy. But in the absence of gods and magic powers, he found something else to focus on, to pull him through, to work hard at.
And then there’s “follow like share” Percy who I honestly think is the closest to what an adult Percy from the books would look like without Annabeth’s influence on him growing up. A little edgier, a little more sarcastic, a little more dry.
ANYWAY, I think a lot of fanfic authors are scared to write their characters as ooc in any capacity— I’ll admit, if I’m reading a story and everyone is acting so far outside what I see them as, it will turn me off of it. And everyone will have a different threshold for that. But especially if you’re writing an AU, don’t be afraid of tweaking their personalities. If the Percy in your story is a hipster who brews homemade kombucha but has the same sense of humor, loyalty to his friends, and outlook on life, who cares if he’s also a little bit more granola? If you want to write Annabeth as a girly girl who loves pink and makeup and skirts, but also is just as driven, prideful, and stubborn, do it! It’s for fun!!!!!
#morgan murmurs#idk like#I feel like AUs should get more leeway than some people allow for them#or fanfic in general#will I grumble about mischaracterization sometimes?#yeah of course BUT#purposeful conscious self aware oocness can result in really FUN interactions and stories and scenes#percy jackson#pjo#percy jackson and the olympians#Percabeth
