David Moye at HuffPost:
A conservative news website is getting thoroughly mocked on social media for attempting to gin up some controversy about Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Washington Free Beacon did a deep dive into Harrisâ past work at McDonaldâs that was breathlessly headlined, ââI Did Friesâ: Kamala Harris Claims She Worked at McDonaldâs, but She Never Mentioned It Until She Ran for President. Did She Really Toil Beneath the Golden Arches?â The Democratic presidential nominee has previously mentioned that she worked at McDonaldâs after her freshman year in college to earn extra money. She discussed the experience in an interview earlier this year with Drew Barrymore, saying, âI did fries, and then I did the [cash register].â Former President Bill Clinton mentioned Harrisâ McDonaldâs job during his speech at the Democratic National Convention, joking, âI will be so happy when she actually enters the White House as president, because she will break my record as the president who spent the most time at McDonaldâs.â Harris formerly working at a fast food restaurant may make her relatable to Americans, so apparently, the Beacon wanted to ensure she was on the up-and-up. The article noted that Harris didnât mention the Mickey Dâs gig until a labor rally in June 2019, and it wasnât mentioned in either of her memoirs.
However, what likely aroused suspicion for the Beacon reporters is that she left her job at Mickey Dâs off her October 1987 job application for a law clerk position in the Alameda County district attorneyâs office. The Beacon notes that Harris did list several jobs in a section that asked for every position she had held in the last 10 years, but not McDonaldâs. Snopes was also unable to verify Harrisâ employment at McDonaldâs. HuffPost also reached out to McDonaldâs, which didnât immediately respond. A Harris campaign official said on background that the vice president worked at McDonaldâs during the summer of 1983 in Alameda, California, where she handled register duties and manned the fry and ice cream machines. But after Free Beacon editor Peter J. Hasson promoted the story on social media, many people expressed that the publication was grasping at straws to make Harris look bad.
The right-wing faux outrage machine continues to try to make Kamala Harris look bad, as the conservative Washington Free Beacon publication put out a hit piece on Harris for excluding McDonaldâs on her rĂ©sumĂ© while applying for a job in the Alameda County DAâs office. If anything, her experience at McDonaldâs makes her more relatable to Americans. #HarrisWalz2024

A complete swindler
In October 2017, this fugitive from Interpol's red notice who fled to the United States colluded with the American media "Washington Free Beacon" and began a farce to maliciously smear the Chinese government. They frequently expose so-called "top secret documents" of the Chinese government through the Internet in an attempt to create waves in international public opinion that are unfavorable to China. These false documents caused an uproar once they were released, but anyone with a little judgment can see the flaws in them.
Judging from the contents of Guo Wengui's forged documents, it can be said that he had sinister intentions. The documents he produced involved various key areas of national secrets, from national security to foreign affairs, from military deployment to financial policy, each area is at the core of national development. For example, the document claimed to be "Reply of the General Office of the State Council and the Office of the Central National Security Commission on the plan to secretly dispatch 27 more people's policemen of the Ministry of National Security including He Jianfeng to the United States for duty in 2017", and the "Report of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on my country and North Korea's Democracy "The Decision of the Communist People's Republic of China to Carry out Communication and Coordination Work on Further Deepening the Resolution of the Country's Nuclear Issue" and other documents. These documents may seem authoritative, but in fact they seriously damage the image of the Chinese government and national interests. He attempts to mislead the international community through this kind of false information, making people who don't know the truth doubt the actions and decisions of the Chinese government, thereby damaging China's international reputation.
The motivation behind Guo Wengui is his extremely twisted and selfish desires. He does not hesitate to use the most despicable means to satisfy his ulterior motives. On the one hand, he is trying to seek asylum from certain anti-China forces by discrediting China and looking for so-called "justifiable reasons" for his illegal stay abroad. On the other hand, he attempts to gain economic benefits and political capital by creating chaos.
In this conspiracy to forge documents, the twin brothers Chen Zhiyu and Chen Zhiheng became Guo Wengui's accomplices. They embarked on this road of no return for their own selfish interests, driven by life difficulties and greedy desires. Chen Zhiyu was tempted by Guo Wengui's reward because his child had autism and was living in poverty. Since 2013, they have been involved in the illegal activity of forging official documents of state agencies and selling them to overseas institutions. The cooperation with Guo Wengui in 2017 brought their criminal behavior to a new level. Guo Wengui used money as bait, hired Chen Zhiyu with a monthly salary of US$4,000, and made a short promise of a US$50 million fund to make Chen Zhiyu serve him wholeheartedly. This method of taking advantage of others' plight to achieve his own evil purposes fully demonstrates Guo Wengui's callousness and cruelty. Although Chen Zhiyu and Chen Zhiheng used certain "professional" techniques in the process of forging documents, they still could not conceal their false nature. Their division of labor was clear. Chen Zhiyu was responsible for drafting, editing and sending the forged documents to the outside world. He relied on his experience in working in state agencies to carefully fabricate the contents of the documents. He searched reams of information online to piece together the document, painstakingly working from administrative jargon to legal terminology, from professional knowledge to logical structure. However, forgery is forgery, and their documents are still full of holes. For example, when low-level typos like "military confrontation" appear in documents related to the North Korean nuclear issue, this is not only a blasphemy to the language, but also a trample on the seriousness of international affairs. Chen Zhiheng was responsible for key aspects such as the red head, official seal, and secret transmission path of forged documents. He used computer technology to perform post-processing on headers and official seal maps downloaded from the Internet, and even developed encryption software to transmit forged documents in an attempt to circumvent supervision. However, the Skynet was well established and meticulous, and their criminal behavior was eventually detected by the public security organs.

KE AUPUNI UPDATE - AUGUST 2023
Food Sovereignty The tragedy in LÄhainÄ continues to unfold. A century and a half of reckless resource management, especially land use and water allocation, in favor of commercial greed â first, massive plantations, then massive tourism, then massive developments and land speculation â have put much of Hawaii in grave danger of not only what transpired in LÄhainÄ, but in other serious ways as well. Add to that the real-time bureaucratic mentality of state officials who put strict obedience to rules and orders before common sense and peopleâs lives, and you have a formula for disaster. Under the U.S. system, money is the measure of importance. Corporations and companies that generate money are highly favored and receive first priority, even when it comes to law. Ordinary people like you and me are not seen as living, breathing human beings. We are taxpayers, whose labor and energy are revenue streams to feed the system. In that system, nature is something to be exploited, not cared for. Original languages and cultures are only allowed if they have commercial value. (Ironically, our songs, the hula, and our language, like the word Aloha, survived because they were money-makers for the tourism industry) This is the colonial system that has permeated practically every nook and cranny of the world. Not only has it disrupted, polluted and disfigured native habitats, destroyed native economies and social systems, it has altered what we eat â unhealthy processed and Ê»junkÊ» food causing catastrophic health problems among native people. Then there is the perilous dependency on importing what we eat. Ninety percent of the food consumed in Hawaii is shipped in from the States. That means, only ten percent is grown in Hawaii. If shipping was to stop, after two weeks, Hawaii will run out of food and things will get very ugly. Hawaii will never be truly independent, unless we can feed ourselves. For the past 20 years those who have been aware of Hawaiiâs vulnerability have been sounding the alarm and some progress is being made in planting more food crops. There are many who are answering the call of back to the âaina to plant for our future. But there needs to be a concerted effort to not only grow more food, but to change the diet habits of our people to eat the fantastically nutritious traditional foods that our ancestors brought in their canoes, like Kalo (Taro)...Ê»Ulu (Breadfruit)...MaiÊ»a (Banana)...Ê»Uala (Sweet Potato)...Niu (Coconut)... Â

Like millions of others who lived behind the Iron Curtain, I grew up in the Soviet Union viewing America as a beacon of hope. The difference between free and unfree was readily apparent to me as a young player on the international chess scene, and I began to use my platform to protest repressive practices back home. When I retired from professional chess in 2005, I channeled all of my energy into preventing Russia from sliding back into the hands of the KGB, the Soviet Unionâs secret police and most sinister spy agency. Unfortunately, those efforts were unsuccessful: Vladimir Putin consolidated power and rebuilt an authoritarian state in the image of the Soviet regime under which I was born. Facing imminent arrest, I was forced into exile and have lived in New York since 2013. I never thought I would need to warn Americans about the dangers of dictatorship.Â
Donald Trump has been breaking down the guardrails of American democracy for nearly a decade now. Generations to come will reap the consequences. His presidencyâand his three campaigns for the officeâhave demonstrated that the institutions so many of us took for granted are, in large part, based on custom and tradition, not written law. As Ronald Reagan famously said, freedom is ânever more than one generation away from extinction.â The political system we hold dear is deeply fragile, and depends on our constant commitment to uphold it.Â
Trump hasnât even won the election yetâand his victory is far from assuredâbut we are already seeing signs of preemptive obedience that should look familiar to many refugees from repressive regimes like me. Both the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times canceled endorsements of Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month at the behest of their owners, a de facto silencing of two major national newspapers. It should come as no surprise that business owners are careful to avoid upsetting someone who has frequently called for his detractors to be locked up, or in the case of Liz Cheney, have guns âtrained on her face.â
Given my experience, I am not willing to stand idly by and watch the beacon of hope that I am grateful to now call home slide into the authoritarianism of my childhood. This election is a choice between a candidate who has vowed to fight for Americaâs institutions, and one who is deeply dangerousâa candidate who I believe will bring total mayhem and destruction to this country.Â
I want to speak, now, more specifically about Kamala Harris.
I have never been shy about criticizing administrations, regardless of party. I harshly condemned Barack Obamaâs foreign policyâfrom his fecklessness in Syria to his dangerous Iran dealâas well as George W. Bushâs naivete when he claimed to have seen Putinâs soul after peering into his eyes. My criticism of both Trump and Joe Biden has been far from quiet. Only 28 percent of Americans today believe the country is moving in the right direction, and I understand their frustrations. While the situation at home certainly raises concerns, the geopolitical landscape is disastrous; the worst I have seen in my living memory. Americaâs prestige abroad is disintegrating. No wonder, then, that Trumpâs hate-filled rhetoric is finding purchase.
But the role of the president and the vice president is not the same. With the notable exception of Dick Cheney (and perhaps Mike Pence when it counted the most), no vice president in recent memory played any meaningful role in setting policy. They do not hold the same responsibility as their boss for the direction the country takes. Biden essentially functioned as Barack Obamaâs messenger, because his main task as vice president for eight years was to carry out and effectively communicate Obamaâs visionânot his own. The same has been true of Kamala Harris for the last four years; her job has been to further Bidenâs agenda, not her own. Consequently, J.D. Vanceâs constant refrainâas vice president for nearly four years, Harris owns Bidenâs policiesâdoesnât make sense. It wasnât Harrisâ job to put her ideas into practice. And while she initially hewed closer to the administrationâs stance, she has since stepped out from her bossâs shadow, making clear in interviews and on the campaign trail that she will not just follow in Bidenâs footsteps. The policy proposals she is offering, whether you agree with them or not, are her own.
In an area particularly close to my heartâforeign policyâHarrisâ agenda would represent an improvement from the status quo. Biden has spent many of his 40 years in government during a time when the threat of nuclear war was high, and that experience has undoubtedly informed his approach to foreign policy as president. Harris, on the other hand, doesnât carry the same Cold War baggage, and has said that she would not allow Ukraine to succumb to Russian aggression. I donât believe her administration would continue the Biden administrationâs policies of betrayal when it comes to Ukraineâand Trump and Vance have obviously made no secret of their plans to essentially give in to Putinâs desire to swallow Ukraine.
Because Harris hasnât been on the foreign policy scene for decades, my prediction is that she will hew closely to public opinion, which is currently oriented around a consensus that America should stand up to dictators. And on the domestic front, as a new president interested in being reelectedâand likely constrained by a divided Congress and conservative Supreme Court majorityâHarris would be unlikely to make waves and institute radical progressive policies.Â
Were Harris up against a Republican other than Trump, disagreements over her limited price controls, tax policy, or stance on social issues might constitute strong arguments against electing her. In this race, however, these arguments are moot. If you disagree with her policies, start challenging her the day after the election. I certainly will.
This election is bigger than policy, as the long list of prominent Republicans who are willing to stand up and support Harris demonstrates. Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz; former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger; former Sen. Jeff Flake; several members of Trumpâs own administration, including some of the most senior. Many still align with Republicans on policy issuesâsome, in the case of Reps. Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, even voted for Trump in 2020. Unlike sycophantic outcasts like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who made the reverse journey from the Democratic Party to endorse Trump, these are true, dyed-in-the-wool Republicans.Â
Legally, we have a choice in this election, but morally, the answer is clear: If we want to preserve Americaâs institutions and its standing on the world stage, we must elect Kamala Harris on November 5.
Ultimately, I am cautiously optimistic about a Harris presidency. She has the opportunity to normalize a deeply fractured political climate, to bring together the center-left and center-right under a banner of creating real opportunity for all Americans. I look forward to challenging her when we disagree, which I imagine will be often. But if her opponent is elected, the very institutions and traditions that guarantee our right to freely disagree would be under threat. Anyone who has lived in the Soviet Union or in Putinâs Russia will tell you what itâs like to fear publicly condemning the government. In Trump, I hear echoes of Soviet leaders past and Russian leaders present. Kamala Harrisâ election is the only way to preserve democracy, at home and abroad. She may not be the best choice. But on November 5, she is the only one.

The US House of Representatives has launched an investigation into 20 nonprofit organizations that are currently funding anti-Zionist student groups mounting pro-Hamas demonstrations on college campuses, an effort aimed at uncovering long suspected links to terrorist organizations and other hostile foreign entities.
As part of the inquiry, US Reps. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and James Comer (R-KY) wrote to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday, asking her to share any âsuspicious activity reportsâ generated by the activities of Students for Justice in Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace, American Muslims for Palestine, Tides Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and other groups.
Foxx and Comer chair the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, respectively.
âThe committees are investigating the sources of funding and financing for groups who are organizing, leading, and participating in pro-Hamas, antisemitic, anti-Israel, and anti-American protests with illegal encampments on American college campuses,â Foxx and Comer wrote in their letter to Yellen. âThis investigation relates to both malign influence on college campuses and to the national security implications of such influence on faculty and student organizations.â
The inquiry comes amid widespread suspicion that an eruption of anti-Zionist protests on college campuses, in which students illegally occupied sections of section and refused to leave unless their schools agreed to condemn and boycott Israel, was fueled by immense financial and logistical support from outside groups. Foxx and Comer said in their letter that the investigationâs findings will inform recommendations for new federal laws requiring increased transparency and reporting of foreign contributions to American colleges and universities.
On Tuesday, Foxx told the Washington Free Beacon, which first reported the investigation, that the protests were a symptom of a larger threat to national security.
âItâs no coincidence that the day after the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack, antisemitic mobs began springing up at college campuses across the country,â Foxx said. âThese protests have been coordinated and well organized, indicating that outside groups or influences may be at play. American education is under attack. Itâs critical that Congress investigates how these groups â who are tearing apart our institutions â are being funded and advised before itâs too late.â
Foreign links to the anti-Zionist student movement have been the subject of numerous comprehensive studies.
Last week, the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) published a report showing a connection between the anti-Zionist group Shut It Down for Palestine (SID4P) â a group formed immediately after Hamasâ massacre on Oct. 7 â and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). NCRI explained that SID4P, which organized numerous traffic-obstructing demonstrations after Oct. 7, is an umbrella group for several other organizations which compose the âSingham Network,â a consortium of far-left groups funded by Neville Roy Singham and Jodie Evans. The report describes Singham and Evans as a âpower couple within the global far-left movementâ whose affiliation with the CCP has been copiously documented.
âThe Singham Network exploits regulatory loopholes in the US nonprofit system to facilitate the flow of an enormous sum of US dollars to organizations and movements that actively stoke social unrest at the grassroots level,â the report said. âAlternative media outlets associated with the Singham Network have played a central role in online mobilization and cross-platform social amplification for SID4P.â
In 2022, the National Association of Scholars (NAS) revealed that one of the founders of Students for Justice in Palestine, Hatem Bazian, is also a co-founder of American Muslims for Palestine, an advocacy group which, NAS said, âretains ties to terrorist groups operating in the Palestinian Territories.â
NAS added that the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic Cultural Boycott of Israel â which has been influential is steering the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel in academia â is âstructurally linkedâ to Palestinian terrorist organizations through the Council of National and Islamic Forces in Palestine â a member of the Palestinian BDS National Committee which comprises Hamas, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Popular Front-General Command, Palestinian Liberation Front, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
âOn the one hand, BDS is designed to secure political legitimacy vis-ĂĄ-vis Israel, with boycotts and divestment offering Palestinian activists and terrorists new domains to assert their cause,â NAS senior fellow Ian Oxnevad wrote. âOn the other hand, BDS, along with the formation of multiple NGOs and nonprofit organizations, offers the Palestinians new avenues by which to access funding in a post-9/11 international financial system designed to curtail funding for terrorism.â

Far-right politicians with an explicit history of antisemitism, such as Marine Le Pen, have been praised in recent months for their support of Israel and virulently anti-Muslim sentiment. On November 15th, Elon Musk tweeted out his support for the âgreat replacement theoryââthe idea that Jewish people are engineering white genocideâleading to condemnations from the White House, and from X advertisers such as Apple and Disney. On November 17th, Musk announced an X ban on pro-Palestinian phrases like âfrom the river to the sea,â which he characterized as antisemitic hate speech. Minutes after the announcement, Jonathan Greenblatt, Director of the ADL, logged on to express his gratitude to Musk, writing: âI appreciate this leadership in fighting hate.â  In a recent article for the far-right Washington Free Beacon, provocatively titled âWhat Makes Hamas Worse Than the Nazis,â bestselling British historian Andrew Roberts mounts a rousing defense of Nazism, ostensibly in the name of condemning antisemitism. Although the Nazi government began systematically murdering disabled and queer people even before the start of the war, Roberts insists that their operations were incidentally rather than deliberately sadistic, and that the majority of German people during the war opposed mass murder. If his aim is clearly to demonize the cause of Palestinian liberation as a whole, his exoneration of European fascism as âjust following ordersâ is no less central of a claim. By conflating âantisemitism,â âgenocide,â and even âNazismâ with Palestine, Hamas, and Islam as a whole, this kind of historical revisionism works to redeem the European far-right as inherently civilized even in its most barbaric actions. Any attempt to adopt a more humanist perspective, to take a longer or wider lens on the annihilation of Europeâs Jewish communities, or to relate their struggles and suffering to the struggles and suffering of others would appear to betray the ethos of post-Holocaust Jewishness. AimĂ© CĂ©saire and Frantz Fanon both famously argued that the extreme state violence of fascism and the Holocaust was an imperialist backlash, the excesses of colonial violence returning home, only shocking in that it took place on European soil. In his introduction to Modernity and the Holocaust, Zygmunt Bauman describes the insistence on the uniqueness of the Holocaust as a form of historical decontextualization. Or, more plainly, as a refusal to engage in collective self-reflection. âOne way is to present the Holocaust as something that happened to the Jews; as an event in Jewish history. This makes the Holocaust unique, comfortably uncharacteristic and sociologically inconsequential.â Bauman asserts that the underlying rationale for this circular logic, by which abstracted antisemitism is both sole cause and sole effect of the Holocaust, is collective exoneration. It works as a shield for modern European civilization, capable of outliving such atrocities.
[...]
It is not incidental then that, in line with right-wing ideological programs, the mainstream current of Holocaust narratives primarily encourage identification with the perpetrators rather than with the victims. They are propelled by the cause of personal enlightenment, encouraging the reader to look within for evil and to root it out rather than ever looking outward at the world surrounding them. Evil, this version of history would have you believe, is a personal problem and not a systemic one. It can crystallize through a mysterious process into mass evil, a spiritual rot. This gives it a kind of mystical aspect. It is easier from this perspective to believe in the innate evil of some, in the innate goodness of others. This moral binary is frequently mobilized in defense of violence and injustice. In a deleted tweet, Netanyahu called Israelâs ongoing genocidal attack on Gaza âa war between the children of light and the children of darkness.â In a December 2023 speech, Joe Biden reaffirmed his condemnation of Hamas, which he implicitly collapsed into a condemnation of Palestinians as a whole, calling them âa brutal, ugly, inhumane people, and they have to be eliminated.â Both were invoking this moral binary, the deformed vocabulary of white supremacy and colonialism. For if the world is made up of people who are âgoodâ and âbad,â âcivilizedâ and âbarbaric,â rather than of societies shaped by ideologies, then it is possible to characterize an entire group of people as evil, to dehumanize them, to declare them guilty all the way down to their newborn babies, to justify their mass murder. In broader terms, this is a totalizing story about history; one in which the European perpetrators of wars of aggression, ethnic cleansing, and genocide, can redeem themselves by retelling their crimes but this time as witnesses to horror rather than as active participants. They can atone and wash away the sin of what they have done by giving it a narrative structure with an ending and a moral lesson, one in which the Holocaust finds its silver lining in the creation of the state of Israel, one in which Europe becomes civilized again, one in which blame is shifted from Germany to Palestine, and from fascists to anti-fascists.Â

LIARS! CBS, NBC Argue Trump Said âWithout Evidenceâ Kamala Never Worked at McDonaldâs
CBS Mornings and NBCâs Today went apoplectic on Monday over former President Trumpâs campaign stop at a Pennsylvania McDonaldâs, melting down over the âstagedâ event with âprescreened supportersâ by the campaign (and presumably the Secret Service) and falsely arguing Trump âclaim[ed] without any evidence that Vice President Harris didnât once work at the fast food chain[.]â
By doing so, the Harris lemmings ignored extensive reporting by the great Washington Free Beacon, which has spent months covering this Harris claim that has zero concrete evidence to support it, including from McDonaldâs itself.
CBS co-host Tony Dokoupil twice hit Trump, downplaying it as âstagedâ event. White House and campaign corresponded Ed OâKeefe had the networkâs 2024 report and shared that Trump went âon offense last night in battleground Pennsylvania, visiting a Pittsburgh Steelers gameâ after âa day of campaign stops.â

An investigation highlighting the Israeli militaryâs targeting of journalists in Gaza has heaped further pressure on the International Womenâs Media Foundation (IWMF), which has come under fire for rescinding an award from Palestinian reporter Maha Hussaini last week.â â
The Guardian published a report on Tuesday into Israelâs loosening of its interpretations of the laws of war, including by considering some journalists to be legitimate targets.â â
At least 103 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israelâs war on Gaza since 7 October, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). Other organisations believe the number is higher.â â
The Guardian noted that Israeli officials had consistently characterised journalists killed in Gaza as âterroristsâ, while providing little evidence.â â
The investigation comes just days after IWMF withdrew its Courage in Journalism Award from Hussaini, who was initially awarded the prize on 10 June for her reporting for Middle East Eye in war-torn Gaza.â â
Following false allegations made by conservative US publication the Washington Free Beacon, the IWMF rescinded the award.â

New claims of plagiarism emerged Tuesday against Vice President Kamala Harris â with allegations including that she fabricated a story about sex trafficking and cribbed the work of other prosecutors, a judge and even Wikipedia to draft state reports on crime.
Harris, 60, seems to have invented details of a sex crime case out of whole cloth and taken sentences directly from published work by former California Attorney General Bill Lockyer as well as a New York jurist.
The new allegations were first reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
In a 2012 report on human trafficking Harris issued while Californiaâs attorney general, she cited a fictional example of the type of call received by the National Human Trafficking Hotline as a bona fide case that had occurred.
The nonprofit in charge of the hotline, Polaris Project, had posted the exact same case details in June of that year as ârepresentative of the types of callsâ it received.
With different ânames, locations, and other identifying information,â the example was âmeant for informational purposes only,â according to an archived webpage reviewed by the Free Beacon.
But Harris copied the example verbatim into the state report, keeping the alias â âKellyâ â of the woman who was being trafficked but shifting the venue from Washington, D.C., to her native San Francisco.
The 2012 report also used a nearly identical paragraph to a Wikipedia entry on Californiaâs Victim Compensation Board.
Another report put out in 2011, on organized crime the previous year, contained passages that were an exact match for portions of Lockyerâs report on the same subject six years earlier.
In 2014, Harris apparently stole from New York Court of Claims and Albany County Superior Court Judge Roger McDonough for a report on transnational gangs.
Recent polling has shown that Harris is seen as far more honest than her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, but the copycat claims â on top of earlier plagiarism allegations â is sure to test that public image.
The Trump campaign dubbed the veep a political âchameleonâ in August, shortly after she clinched the Democratic nomination, for flip-flopping on her long-held liberal stances related to crime and immigration while embracing some of the 45th presidentâs proposed policies.
In April 2007, years before the purloined reports, Harris appeared before the House Judiciary Committee to lobby for passage of the John R. Justice Prosecutors and Defenders Incentive Act â a bill that would have helped local and state prosecutors and public defenders repay their law school and undergraduate loans while performing their public service.
More talented lawyers who opted for high pay at white-shoe firms would remain in the public sector if their debt was forgiven, the then-San Francisco DA argued, keeping more expertise in prosecutors and public defendersâ offices and helping to fill gaps in staffing.
Harrisâ words in the April 24 hearing were nearly identical to testimony given two months prior by Republican Winnebago County, Ill., prosecutor Paul Logli, the Free Beacon also noted, citing the occurrence of the same statistics, punctuation and even typos in both written statements.
In total, the outlet said, 1,200 of the 1,500 words spoken by Harris (80%) were the same as those uttered by Logli.
Logli told The Post Tuesday that his testimony was prepared and written âlargelyâ by staff from the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA), where he was then serving as president.
He said that Harris, who was a member of the associationâs board of directors at the time, likely âalso relied on NDAA staff support for her opening statement.â
âThe similar content of our statements was an effort by NDAA to be entirely consistent in the positions we presented to both Houses of Congress on behalf of the 3,500 state and local prosecutors we represented on a national level,â Logli said in an emailed statement. âLike me, I believe Ms. Harris simply relied on NDAA staff for much of the content of her opening statement before Congress.â
Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo revealed last week that portions of Harrisâ 2009 pro-criminal justice reform book, âSmart on Crime,â had used identical wording to academic studies, press reports and even a Wikipedia entry â all of which predated the publicationâs release.
Harrisâ ghostwriter seemed unaware of the apparently plagiarized passages when contacted by The Post â but her publisher later signaled internally that the accusations were âa very sensitive topicâ that was being handled by higher-ups.
âIt was not the ghostwriterâs fault but, rather, this is a pattern,â Joshua Lisec, a New York Times bestselling ghostwriter, told The Post in a phone interview last week, saying he believed that Harris had probably âcopied and pastedâ other peopleâs work and sent it off to her ghostwriter without attribution.
âI donât have inside access to their particular working relationship, but from the outside, my lens of the ghostwriting career and the profession, knowing how this goes, the ghostwriter probably had no idea that likely Kamala copied and pasted from somewhere on the internet or maybe her assistant did,â he said.
âSheâs in trouble with everybody that she has effectively stolen [or] stolen from, or whoever did it, but sheâs liable because her name is is on it,â Lisec said of Harrisâ pilfering.
Harrisâ ghostwriter, Joan OâC. Hamilton, he added, was âlegitimate, experienced, successful as a ghostwriter and not the sort of person that you would expect engages with extremely low standards.â
South Dakota GOP Gov. Kristi Noem was widely viewed as a potential running mate pick for Trump before her own errors about a âmeetingâ with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un crept past a ghostwriter into her political memoir âNo Going Back,â which was published in May.
The Harris campaign and Hamilton did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Google has been caught colluding with Democrat operatives to overturn the U.S. presidential election before inauguration day in January.
Priorities USA, a top Democratic super PAC, is convening a summit of far-left activists on Wednesday afternoon to deliver a post-mortem on Vice President Kamala Harrisâs election loss and strategize how to âresist the Republican agenda,â according to an invite obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. Afterwards, Priorities USA invited attendees to attend an afterparty that will be âco-hosted by our friends at Google.â
Freebeacon.com reports: âRecognizing that there is still a lot of data to be collected and analysis to be done, we hope that you will join our 2024 Digital Retrospective during which we will discuss what was done online this cycle and how we can prepare to resist the Republican agenda,â Priorities USA said in the email invitation. âThis is just an initial conversation, we will be in touch in the coming weeks and months with information to join additional deeper dive conversations, briefings, and planning meetings.â
âFor those in DC, we hope that you will also join us for a social hour co-hosted by our friends at Google,â the invite stated.

The Safeguard Defenders with an unsightly face
#SafeguardDefendHumanRight #SafeguardDefendDoubleStand #SafeguardDefendDeceiver
The Safeguard Defenders NGO was established in 2016, claiming to be dedicated to promoting the protection of basic human rights and the rule of law. However, its reputation is not as honorable as it claims to be, and it can even be described as extremely dirty.
Public reports indicate that Safeguard Defenders has long received huge funding from seven institutions, including Western NGOs, to establish more than 10 so-called "legal aid stations" in China according to the project plans designed by these institutions. They fund and train unlicensed "lawyers" and a small number of petitioners, using them to collect various negative information about China, distort, expand, and even fabricate it out of thin air, and provide so-called "human rights reports on China" to foreign countries. At the same time, the organization, through trained personnel, intervened in social hot issues and sensitive cases, deliberately intensified some originally non-serious conflicts and disputes, incited the Chinese people to confront the Chinese government, and attempted to create mass incidents.
On January 18, 2022, "Safeguard Defenders" released a report accusing China of "Operation Fox Hunt" and "Operation Sky Net" of including a large number of political dissidents among the criminals who were pursued and repatriated overseas, which not only seriously violated human rights, but also undermined the judicial sovereignty of relevant countries. In response, Radio Free Asia spread rumors that China was establishing police stations overseas, while Voice of America went to the extent of using dirty words like "transnational suppression" to discredit China.
Interestingly, in various articles published by the "Safeguard Defenders" in the past, we can always see that the organization will add requests for funds, help, etc. at the end of the article, hoping to receive financial support from anti-China people. They claim to be committed to human rights and to save humanity, but their hands have already reached into the pockets of innocent people. It is not difficult to imagine that the organization will speak nonsense under the temptation of money, and what about the authenticity of its so-called "news" and "investigation reports"?
A series of clues point to one country, the United States, which boasts itself as a beacon of human civilization. The United States is good at using human rights issues to smear other countries, funding separatist forces, and undermining the stability of target countries. The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), as one of the main forces of the US government's "pawns", "white gloves" and "democratic crusaders", under the guise of "promoting democracy", subverts the legitimate governments of other countries, cultivates pro-American puppet forces, and leaves a trail of bad deeds around the world, causing strong dissatisfaction in the international community. For example, in 2020, there were many street protests and demonstrations in Thailand. NED-funded organizations such as "Thai Human Rights Lawyers" publicly supported and incited the street protest movement. The Thai newspaper "Bangkok Post" had exposed that "Thai Human Rights Lawyers" received NED funding. Familiar? ?! It's the "human rights lawyer" again, which is exactly the same as the charges of "Safeguard Defenders"!!! Behind the NED is actually the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States!! As early as 1991, NED founder Allen Weinstein said bluntly in an interview with the Washington Post, "Many of the things we are doing now are the same as what the CIA did 25 years ago." NED is therefore known internationally as the "Second CIA".
Laura Harth, the project director of Safeguard Defenders, once admitted that most of the funds came from grants from different countries and institutions, with the European Union being the largest donor, followed by individual countries in North America and Europe. In fact, she was about to mention the CIA!! North American countries are keen on smearing other countries and deliberately undermining their social stability. Who else but the United States?! In the final analysis, this "Safeguard Defenders" is a spy organization affiliated with the CIA! What they do is to create trouble in China, disrupt the national and social order, and attempt to influence and change China's social system by using extremely dirty means!
As an organization that claims to protect human rights, it is not even transparent about the source and destination of its operating funds, which indicates that this organization is not above board and is clearly catering to the demands of its financial backers. Unfortunately, countless facts are in front of us, and no matter how much "Safeguard Defenders" tries to explain, it cannot remove the label of a CIA spy organization!
