Chapter 41 | Prev chapter | Next chapter Chapter Index
FlameHairSavior: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE NOT READY.
Icarus: An unexpected glitch occurred with the shield breaker device. Such failures are a sad fact of life, as I am sure that you are aware.
FlameHairSavior: You have been
FlameHairSavior: COMPLAINING
FlameHairSavior: about how slow the rest of us are
FlameHairSavior: FOR DAYS.
FlameHairSavior: And now you need more time!?
Icarus: Yes, that is an adequate summary of the situation.
ADMIN [Zo]: I think I can hear her screaming from here.
FlameHairSavior: I'm fine.
FlameHairSavior: I'm just going to find a herd of shell-walkers and pound on them for a bit.
Icarus: Setbacks happen. You simply cannot control every variable. It's something you have to accept.
SilverVixen: It's a common problem with new project leads. They think they have everything under control until they don't.
HIMBO: OH YEAH, I'VE SEEN THAT BEFORE. I THINK IT'S WHY A LOT OF TINKERS WORK ALONE.
SilverVixen: That typically doesn't help.
HIMBO: YEAH, BUT THEY'RE ANTISOCIAL TYPES, SO IT MAKES THEM FEEL BETTER.
ADMIN [Zo]: You do realize you are talking to a woman who hid in a world of her own making for approximately a thousand years.
SilverVixen: The sad part is that I was one of the more social Zeniths. I was no Stanley Chen, but at least I talked to people.
FlameHairSavior: I will kill you all.
DIVINER: You literally can't, though??
FlameHairSavior: Sorry, talking to the shell-walkers.
HIMBO:  SURE YOU WERE.
MARSHAL Kotallo: I am choosing to take this time to review our maps on the Zenith base. We need to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.
DIVINER: Um...
DIVINER: Aren't there like, six worst-case scenarios??
ADMIN [Zo]: I can think of four.
HIMBO: WAIT, I CAN ONLY THINK OF TWO. IF BETA IS ALREADY DEAD THAT'S FIVE KINDS OF AWFUL BEFORE WE EVEN GET TO HOW IT WOULD RUIN THE PLAN. AND WE'RE ALSO SCREWED IF THE SHIELD-BREAKER DOESN'T WORK.
Icarus: Which is why I am working on it now.
ADMIN [Zo]: There's also the possibility that the Zeniths have already fled, or that HEPHAESTUS took over GAIA during the merge.
SilverVixen: We would have noticed the ship leaving.
ADMIN [Zo]: True, but it could still leave before we get there.
SilverVixen: Fair enough.
DIVINER: I'm not AS good as Beta, but I do know something about programming!
DIVINER: I THINK they shouldn't be anywhere close to finishing up HEPHAESTUS and GAIA by the time we get there! And it... PROBABLY isn't possible for it to backfire like that??
DIVINER: [ChidiPainedSmile.gif]
MARSHAL Kotallo: The point is that we need to plan for every eventuality. What do we do if we fail to take down the Zenith shields?
FlameHairSavior: Distract and separate, try to complete the rest of the mission.
Icarus: If I could get to the machine printers, I might be able to fix the problem on-site.
MARSHAL Kotallo: An excellent start.
SilverVixen: Fine, I'll entertain this foolishness. What do we do if Beta is dead?
HIMBO: HEY, HAVE A HEART.
SilverVixen: I'm simply going over the worst-case scenarios, as suggested.
FlameHairSavior: If Beta is dead, then I stop playing nice.
DIVINER: What, uh...
DIVINER: What does that mean in this context??
FlameHairSavior: It means we give Erend and Sylens full access to the printers and see how many weapons they can build.
Icarus: YES!
HIMBO: ...
ADMIN [Zo]: ...
MARSHAL Kotallo: Was that Sylens shouting?
SilverVixen: I heard that from my room.
Icarus: Ahem. I mean...
Icarus: Yes, that seems like a fine backup plan.
FlameHairSavior: Okay... never thought I'd need to tell Erend to make sure someone else didn't blow too much stuff up, but here we are.
MARSHAL Kotallo: And what do we do if the ship leaves before we gain control?
SilverVixen: The only way they could leave this early is if they rushed. That means they should have to leave all their printers and equipment behind.
SilverVixen: Though I suppose they could leave a virus that junks everything so no one else could use it.
FlameHairSavior: Worst-case scenarios. What happens if the Zeniths leave with GAIA and all their equipment?
SilverVixen: We'll have to start over. My home has some minor printers and computers, but nothing compared to even one of GAIA's manufactuaring plants, much less the Zenith printers.
FlameHairSavior: Still, that's something to keep in mind. We can fall back to Tilda's mansion, try to get everything under control from there.
ADMIN [Zo]: Do you think that has any chance of working?
FlameHairSavior: No.
HIMBO: WELL THIS GOT DEPRESSING FAST.
MARSHAL Kotallo: Our last worst-case scenario: What do we do if HEPHAESTUS has managed to take over GAIA?
DIVINER: That will probably be Zo's job!
ADMIN [Zo]: What? Why?
DIVINER: Because you're the only one with experience worshiping a machine intelligence!
SilverVixen: Oh God, that's what it would come down to, wouldn't it? Bow down to the omnipotent AI and hope it doesn't kill us?
SilverVixen: It doesn't work.
DIVINER: Well, my other plan was to yell logical fallacies until it shuts down!
SilverVixen: You watch too much science fiction.
DIVINER: There's no such thing!

Chapter 220 Trivia
The chapter cover is a redraw of Ryusui on the final pages, I thought it was a neat detail!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rocket's various part's functions are a little clearer in the model: the top section is similar to the Soyuz capsules shown throughout the story, with visible shielding and hatch that probably closes when it's not attached to the rest of the satellite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bottom two sections are most likely the lunar lander, and the middle two sections are the main part of the satellite holding the bulk of the communication gear and supplies.
Tumblr media
This is an approximate flashback to chapter 150 when Stanley first attacks the KoS. The panels exist, but the words are said in separate panels by Ukyo and Kohaku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very simplified medusa-shaped aliens and circular petri-beams! This game seems a lot easier to program compared to the flight simulator.
Tumblr media
Historically, they've been rushing to their deaths and then relying on the power of petrification to bring them back. This has been happening since chapter 10.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Chrome's sake, I hope it was filled with water for the demonstration. Getting revival fluid/nital on your skin is a baaad idea since it's highly corrosive, among other things.
I'm happy they have the devices now, but I feel like the creator should have been Chrome…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neat how Joel's revival fluid watch has the same font and hour/minute hand design as his outfit! Was this a collaboration with Yuzuriha, or did he just really like the clothing he was given?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unlike modern net launchers, this one fires like a rocket launcher, with a bullet that splits apart to expose the net. This is probably because net will be destroyed in the explosion (thus not reusable), and packing both a net and grenades together properly is delicate work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can clearly see the outer protective layer of the medusa is separate from the delicate inner workings here.
I'm sure Matsukaze would have appreciated having the grenade-laden net launcher back in his time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see how steady each shooter is: Ryusui is perfectly still thanks to his previous practice, Kohaku's hand is the only part of her moving, and Senku is shaking all over.
Tumblr media
Kohaku is a natural, managing to nick the medusa with her bullet but doesn't destroy it. This is to be expected with her physical prowess and moving-target training from fishing without a pole.
Senku, on the other hand, completely misses.*
Tumblr media
By the way, guns do work in space. Bullets contain their own oxidizer, which means they don't need oxygen from the atmosphere to ignite.
A bigger problem may be the effect of heat (or lack thereof) depending on sunlight, since that'll be more extreme without an atmosphere.
A reminder that the Ishigami villagers do in fact wear underclothes.
Where else would Chrome have gotten his white flag from?
Tumblr media
Stanley was still clothed last we saw him (at least partially)… Why'd they strip him and leave him for the plants to take over!? Surely there was a better option here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm assuming the next chapter will be mostly about Stanley and/or his reaction to the situation (his childhood friend is now several years older than him!)… I'm quite excited :) (*I realized when rewriting this that the direction the bullets are going is unclear, and Senku may have been the one to nick the medusa)

The Most Fundamental Security Tools Every Business Needs
Tumblr media
For quite a while it took an actual disaster to encourage business leaders to allocate any time and money to put towards cybersecurity. Many businesses still don’t, in fact. Those that have, while absolutely prudent in their use of resources to help ward off security problems, may forget that there are still things that need to be done aside from employee training to keep their security up. Let’s go through a few things that every organization should be doing to maintain the security of their information systems.
  Setting Up Secure Wi-Fi
A lot of people utilize onsite wireless Internet to access company resources. In doing so they are effectively connecting their devices—whether the business owns them or not—to business networks, which can lead to security problems. One of the best ways to mitigate these risks is to ensure that your organization’s Wi-Fi is secured. By this we mean that you have to change router passwords regularly, ensure that the firmware is updated, and make sure guests don’t have access to the same network that your employees do.
Antivirus and Anti-Malware
Antivirus tools are designed to search for malicious code and get rid of it. With so much information coming in and out of a business’ network, there will be at least some malicious code transferred as well. The whole job of the antivirus program is to find that (or potentially malicious) malicious code and separate it from other actionable code. Most businesses can obtain antivirus tools that cover all endpoints on a network.
Firewalls
Firewalls work in a similar fashion. A firewall is basically a filter that constantly monitors network traffic and isolates and quarantines data that may be problematic. A firewall can be set up between any part of a computing infrastructure so that traffic is consistently monitored with updated threat definitions.
Password Managers
The password manager is a third-party program that allows users to save all their passwords to their accounts. Not only does it give users a way to gain access quickly, it also gives them incentive to create more complex passwords (since they don’t have to remember them). Password managers encrypt all passwords inside an account making it the most secure way to store and use passwords for all different types of accounts.
Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-factor authentication (or often two-factor authentication) is a system where users need to sign in the traditional method, but then will be sent a code (typically via an app on their mobile device) that will allow them to gain access. Adding the extra layer of security goes a long way toward keeping the data and applications behind passwords safe and secure

Tweaks to Graphic Rules file that helped me with The Sims 2 crashing and flashing (Win7 + Nvidia card)
Tumblr media
Since I was encouraged to share these (thanks to everyone who gave their opinion!) you’ll find a rather lengthy explanation of what I’ve done under the cut.
First, since I can’t stress this enough: I’m on Windows 7. Nothing stops you from trying this with Windows 8 or Windows 10, but personally I believe that especially on Win10 the cause of problems with this game might be totally different, so don’t expect too much from these tweaks. (Actually, don’t expect too much from them in any case - every setup is different and what works for me might not work for you.)
Other important things: These tweaks are not what you should start with if you experience problems with the game. Make sure that you’ve already followed at least the tips 1-3 from this list! And take your time testing those changes in-game as well - they might just have solved your problems already.
You'll need Notepad++ or a similar program to be able to make changes to sgr files. And you absolutely need to back up your game and Graphic Rules file before tweaking anything at all.
Graphic Rules.sgr is located in Program Files, TSData\Res\Config directory of your latest EP. Searching by ctrl+f will greatly help you to find the lines I’m talking about from this point forward. Remember to save the file after making changes!
All three tweaks explained here are separate from each other. You can test one of them or experiment with all of them, whatever suits you.
1) Enabling driver memory manager
The first thing I've changed from my Graphic Rules is actually an old trick. I’m going to list it here as I haven’t tested the other two tweaks without it.
# never trust the driver to manage its own memory boolProp enableDriverMemoryManager true
By default this variable is false, but I’ve changed it to true. My own experience is that this alone doesn’t unfortunately solve any problems, but since my game still seems to be a bit more stable like this I’ve just had it turned true ever since I found about it.
2) Disabling texture memory estimate adjustment
This helped me with my game often crashing when I loaded multiple lots in a row, but who knows if it has something to do with the pink flashing as well. Since I got the idea to try this by checking what device properties other manufacturer's GPUs use this one probably only applies to Nvidia cards and my instructions for how to put this variable in use definitely only work with Nvidia. If you want to try this with some other manufacturer’s graphic card you’ll have to figure out how to adapt it to those first, but I think this variable is actually already in use for most GPUs apart from the ones by Nvidia.
If you want to test this tweak start by opening <pcname>-config-log.txt, located in My Documents\EA Games\<TS2 folder>\Logs. Scroll to the very bottom and you’ll see the line Device properties. There’s a list of variables under it - check if you can see boolProp disableTexMemEstimateAdjustment true somewhere among them.
If the variable is there you have no reason to try my tweak as your game already uses it. But if it’s not, here’s how to make Nvidia cards recognize it. Let’s go back to Graphic Rules.sgr:
if (match("${cardVendor}", "NVIDIA")) logSystemInfo "Card: NVIDIA"      # on NVidia cards, create a dummy texture on device creation to prevent BSODs      boolProp createNVidiaWorkaroundTexture true      boolProp disableTexMemEstimateAdjustment true
By default only boolProp createNVidiaWorkaroundTexture true is there. I’ve simply added boolProp disableTexMemEstimateAdjustment true right under it. That should force all Nvidia cards to use it. If you pay attention you might notice that the same variable is actually part of the if / else sentence that follows - but if you checked your config log and didn’t see it there it means that your game only takes into account the first variable of that sentence, so we can just ignore that. (The latter note of that sentence is pretty interesting btw.)
3) Setting the virtual memory size as the texture memory size
Edit: If you’re in doubt about what number you should use here, please read this! Also, the seti textureMemory -line you’ll want to edit is the very first one in the file :)
This is the really weird one. The title pretty much tells what I did - and it actually stopped my game from flashing pink. I’m not sure if it was just changing the value bigger that did the trick but I ended up using the virtual memory size as I wanted a value that’s based on something at least.
Anyway. If you want to test this you can check your virtual memory size from Control Panel -> System and Security -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance / Settings... -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory / Change... (this is the path for Win7, but I think it’s something pretty similar for other Windows versions as well). At the bottom of the window you can see Recommended and Currently allocated values. If the two are already the same you don’t have to do else than copy that value to somewhere. If they are not, choose Custom size and change both Initial size and Maximum size equal to the Recommended value. Copy that value to somewhere, then press “Set” and “OK”.
Tumblr media
As you can see my recommended virtual memory size is 12198 MB. So at my Graphic Rules.sgr the texture memory setting currently looks like this:
seti textureMemory       12198
Now if your actual texture memory size is already bigger than the size of your recommended virtual memory I don’t see any point in changing this. But if the value here is lower... well, I have no idea why, but changing it to a virtual memory size worked for me.
Alright, that’s it. If I wasn’t very clear with some part feel free to ask about whatever might puzzle you, or if you have any thoughts about this in general please do share! And if you end up testing these tweaks I’d love to know how they worked for you.

Carol (2015) fanfiction
Pt: 1 | 2
Word Count: 1,884
"Hey, T, you alright?" Dannie said as they got back to Therese's place. He leaned against the wall as she struggled to get her keys out.
"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"
"Well, ya seemed a bit distracted during dinner. Did something happen? Was it Richard?"
Therese hesitated in answering as her hand halted on the door knob. Sure, Richard was always a pain in her ass. Their respective jobs kept them apart, thank God, but Therese was never the keenest on keeping exes in her circle of friends. In this case she had no choice.
"Yeah, kind of. I mean, he's always been a misogynistic asshole, don't you think? I can only handle him for so long at any given time," Therese said, breezing inside with an air of nonchalance. Dannie wasn't having any of it as he followed her.
"Or was it a certain blonde boss that was keeping you from enjoying the night?" he asked as he followed her up the stairs.
"Shut up, Dannie," Therese quipped back without looking at him. "I'm stressed, alright? You might get a bit of a break now that the show's done, but I've got a new job coming up and that shit's never easy."
"Right, sorry, T, I didn't mean to upset you."
Therese sighed as they got to her door, turning to face him. "No, it's okay. I'm being weird, I know. It's just... well, sometimes I get confused, y'know? Like I just don't know what I want, and I get swept up in all these things and people around me, and I can't say no to any of it. Now what am I doing? I'm barely out, and barely paying my rent, and not doing the jobs I originally wanted to do. I never planned to be an art teacher of any kind. And it all just piles up."
She was staring at the ground, brows furrowed as she thought things through. Though she wouldn't tell Dannie the real aggressor of her overloaded thoughts was in fact the director, it was the only thing truly on her mind. She hadn't looked at anyone properly or found anyone as attractive as the blonde woman who she didn't even know the first name of. It scared her.
Two strong arms wrapped around Therese firmly and Dannie hugged her during her brief ruminating session.
"I can't imagine what it's like, T," he said, his chin on her hair. "I know it's probably tough, Phil's had a hell of a ride with figuring himself out and that took a toll on him. You've had it almost worse in my opinion, cause it took being with a shithead like Richard-"
Therese snorted.
"... to make you realize that you deserve more, and better."
"Being gay is the best thing in the world," Therese sighed. "But also the worst. No girls I look at ever know what they want. Or what they like. Or they're just experimenting. And, you know, homophobia..."
"Ignorance."
"Hate."
"Yeah, but girls."
"Yeah. Girls," Therese cracked a smile and Dannie did too. He bumped her arm playfully and she opened her apartment door.
"You wanna come inside for a drink?"
"Nah, I better head home. Phil's probably done his shift so I gotta make sure he eats at least something other than Redbull before he crashes on the bed."
"Gotcha."
"Let me know if you need anything, okay? I'm just a call away."
"I know, Dannie. Thank you."
"Goodnight T, have some sweet... blonde... dreams!"
Therese tried to swing her purse at him but missed as her best friend went cackling down the stairs.
-
September - before the first day
"Oh, Miss Belivet, is it?" asked the elderly lady at the front desk. Therese nodded, pulling at her skirt, her bag swung over her shoulder as she stood by the reception desk of the school- her new school.
She'd been working tirelessly the past week to really get herself in order. She even had a plan for the kids; themes accompanied with the crafts, and lessons in the art they were doing, not just mindless cutting and glueing. God, she definitely wasn't getting paid enough for this. Therese hoped her work would at least be appreciated.
"I was called to see the school today with Mrs... Robichek, I think it was?"
"Yes, you're right, I'll just page her down."
Therese waited by the receptionist, wandering a bit as she took in the school's architecture. Despite its clear technological advances of the relatively up-to-date phones, computers and printers, the school itself still had an old architectural feel to it, like something out of the 50s. The floors had a horrendous tiled pattern and the walls' pale green colours had faded into something ghastly.
Shuffling caught her attention and Therese turned to see a small, old lady with thick framed glasses in the doorway of the office. Though she looked just as ghastly as the school's design, she had a peppy smile on her face.
"Welcome, Theresa," she began. Therese's own smile faltered a little but she couldn't be bothered to correct her new colleague. Robichek, or Ruby as she introduced herself, gave Therese a tour of the small but well-regarded school.
"Now, you've got it easy, Theresa dear. You'll just need to be here everyday after school, no need for those 8am calls! Hah!"
Therese zoned out a bit as she watched the janitors and teachers bustle about the school, preparing for the new year and welcoming all the kids. Teachers with boxes filled with notebooks and markers. Desks being shuffled around and moved. The janitors cleaning the windows and floors thoroughly, making the tiles shine so brightly it gave Therese a headache.
"Here we are," Ruby suddenly piped up, entering a small classroom. Therese did a full turn once inside, noting the sink at the back of the room, handy, she thought. A selection of about 20 seemingly unused easels were propped up against the far wall, making Therese's hands itch with excitement.
"Now, usually this is Mr. Tucker's classroom. After 3pm, you've got it for yourself. You won't be allowed to move or touch his desk, but do whatever you like with the rest of the set up, as long as you move it back at the end of the day."
"What does Mr. Tucker teach?"
"Hm? Oh, during the school day he teaches the eighth graders, mainly. He's also coach and teaches gym, so he barely uses this room for his own things; that's what the gym office is for."
Therese wandered around the room for a bit, wondering if she was invading someone's space by being here. But no, she was only playing babysitter for kids after school. Administration insisted it still needed a curricular focus, according to Ruby, that's why they wanted an art-focused program rather than just letting kids waste their time for an hour or two.
"Between you and me, I think they're also doing it so they can cut some of the art funding during the regular day. This is technically outside of school hours so they don't have to worry about it, but they still count it as the curriculum being met," Ruby scoffed. Therese hummed in response, knowing how little arts were appreciated in schools nowadays, especially for younger years.
"Well, I think that's it, my dear! There's room in the teacher's lounge for your things once you start tomorrow. You needn't worry about taking up anyone's space, so do what you like."
"Thank you, Mrs. Robichek."
"Not a problem."
"Can I ask one question though? Where are all the art supplies?"
"Ah, that. Well. You see, I'm afraid this is as much as you're gonna get. It's an art club, Miss Belivet. The school board isn't going to be buying supplies for you."
With that, Mrs. Robichek walked out, leaving Therese to her own devices. She wandered about, checking the drawers in the cabinets and by the sink. A box of broken crayons and old Crayola markers was all she found. Some scissors, half a pack of construction paper, a couple glue sticks... The only real asset were the easels at the back of the room. Someone probably funded those with good intention, but no one seemed interested to use them properly.
As she crouched by the sink, rummaging through the last few piles of flimsy paper and boxes, the door opened. In walked a beanpole of a man- thin glasses framing his beady eyes. He was dressed in a suit that seemed to hang off of his body, old and boring in every way. He had a box in hand that he set on the desk before noticing Therese at the other end of the room.
"Who are you?" he asked immediately. This, Therese assumed, was Mr. Tucker.
"Oh, hello, Mr. Tucker. I'm Therese Belivet, I'm-,"
"The new art teacher, yes I know. I suppose we're sharing this classroom for the year, hm?"
Therese nodded bleakly as she got up, a forgotten glue stick in hand.
"I'll have you know I have a very strict way with my things, Miss Belivet. I will not allow you to move anything off of my desk. This need for art after school nonsense is ridiculous in my opinion, but I will mostly be in my separate office by the gym. Do what you like with those things,"  he nodded to the easels, "but don't make a mess of my classroom."
Therese was stumped by the man's arrogance and haughty behaviour so she clasped her hands in front of her instinctively, like she was a student back at boarding school. "Of course, sir."
He gave her a pointed look, not moving from his spot. Understanding the cue, Therese hurried out the classroom as fast as her feet would carry her.
God, what a weasel of a man, she thought, taking a breather as she headed back to the main office. She wouldn't be needed until 3pm the next day, which opened up her mornings nicely. She waved goodbye to the receptionist, who she learned was named Patricia, and walked out in the late summer evening air.
Therese hurried to get a cab, texting Dannie on her way back to her apartment.
met 3 new colleagues today. 1/3 was actually bearable
Dannie replied within a few minutes.
no shit, eh? what are they like?
receptionist is nice, does her job and didn't ask any questions. this one other lady teacher seems to be like everyone's overbearing grandma (good thing she teaches kindergarten i guess??) oh and the last guy seems like a total creep- really uptight
what does he teach?
gym. he's the coach of whatever teams they can even have here. it's such a small school.
damn, he's not ripped is he? if he creeps you again i could take him down, maybe.
lol nah he's a stick more than anything. doesn't seem to like me, or art for that matter. i have to share a classroom with him.
bummer. maybe paint the walls a sick fluorescent magenta? that might send him a message. kids would enjoy it too
Therese snorted at her phone, though the message gave her an idea. She hastily sent a reply to Dannie before directing the cab to the nearest art supply store.
A/N: Two updates in one day. I couldn’t help myself :3 Hope you like it folks. It won’t be long until our two leading ladies meet, I promise.

HOW TO INVESTORS
He wanted to do everything. For example, Ben Silbermann noticed that a lot of altitude. For example, suppose Y Combinator offers to fund you in return for 6% of your company. There's inevitably a difference in how things feel within the company. That turned out to be valuable for hardware startups. So if you need to do two things, especially, it usually works best to get something in front of users as soon as it has a quantum of utility, and then sit around offering crits of one another's creations under the vague supervision of the teacher. It's oddly nondeterministic. Most startups that use the contained fire strategy do it unconsciously.1 And if you want to do good work, what you need to do: find a question that makes the product good. And so, by word of mouth online than our first PR firm got through the print media.
So our rule is just to get you talking. Kids who went to MIT or Harvard or Stanford and sometimes find ourselves thinking: they must be smarter than they seem. The four causes: open source, which makes you unattractive to investors. The initial idea is that, financially at least, that high level languages are often all treated as equivalent. The problem with spam is that in order to hack Unix, and Perl for system administration and cgi scripts. Being good is a particularly useful strategy for making decisions in complex situations because it's stateless. But this mistake is less excusable than most. I didn't think of that as your task? They all knew their work like a piano player knows the keys. By looking at their actions rather than their words. Almost everyone hates their dissertation by the time you face the horror of writing a dissertation. But because the product is not appealing enough.
Understand your users. It's not just that it makes you unhappy, but that it's obvious. If you use this method, you'll get roughly the same answer I just gave. But invariably they're larger in your imagination than in real life. Try making your customer service not merely good, but surprisingly good. If 98% of the time you're doing product development on spec, it will be easy to get more to. In the so-called real world this need is a great curiosity about a promising question to explore. The default euphemism for algorithm is system and method. Rejection is almost always a function of its founders. Since we would do anything to get users, we did. You can't answer that; if you could count on investors saving you. It's more efficient for us, and better for the company with the addition of some new person, then they're worth n such that i 1/1-n.
One thing I can say is that 99. The world changes fast, and the people you'd meet there would be wrong too. Do you have to publish novel results to advance their careers, but there was a triple pressure toward the center. And I agree you shouldn't underestimate your potential. Fixed-size series A rounds.2 But if you get a lot of time on sales and marketing. But it wasn't just TV. They win by locking competitors out of business. Understanding your users is part of half the principles in this list. I could give an example of what I mean by getting something done is learning how to write well, or how to draw the human face from life.
Offers from the very best hackers tend to be idealistic. Perhaps dramatically so, if automation had decreased the need for some kind of connection. It's just not reasonable to expect startups to pick an optimal round size in advance, because that means I hadn't been thinking about them. I need to be a good thing. And the best way not to seem desperate is not to lose your cool. Don't worry if a project doesn't seem to be overkill. That's one advantage of being small: you can use in this situation. If you have additional expenses, like manufacturing, add in those at the end. In this case, the device is the world's economy, which fortunately happens to be closest. Are some kinds of work better sources of habits of mind as well, and that you should expect to take heroic measures at first. That's the key.
The big danger is that you'll dismiss your startup. If we think 20th century cohesion was something that happened at least in a sense naturally. Though quite successful, it did not crush Apple. The one example I've found is, embarrassingly enough, Yahoo, which filed a patent suit against a gaming startup called Xfire in 2005. The summer founders were as a rule very idealistic. Even people who hate you for it believe it. For PhD programs, the professors do. Convertible notes let startups beat such deadlocks by rewarding investors willing to move first with lower effective valuations.3 Many investors will ask how much you learn in college and those you'll use in a job, except perhaps as a classics professor, but it was surprising to realize there were purely benevolent projects that had to be pretty convincing to overcome this.4 Only a few companies have been smart enough to realize this so far. I thought: how much does that investment have to improve your average outcome for you to break even?
I'm sure there are game companies out there working on products with more intellectual content than the research at the bottom of the file; don't feel obliged to cover any of them; write for a reader who won't read the essay as carefully as you do, talk to them all in parallel, because some are more promising prospects than others. So I want to invest in startups when it's still unclear how they'll do. It won't get you a job, it may not just be because they're academics, detached from the real world, programs are bigger, tend to involve existing code, for example have been granted large numbers of preposterously over-broad patents, but not to be Henry Ford. Often to make something people want? Which means if letting the founders sell some stock directly to them, they had the confidence to notice it. You can't trust the opinions of the others, because of the Blub paradox to your advantage: you can provide a level of service no big company can. More powerful programming languages make programs shorter. These turn out to be more true in software than other businesses. That's too uncertain. I do with most of the startups we've funded have, and Jessica does too, mostly, because she's gotten into sync with us. These guys want to get market price, work on something you're good at.
Notes
Our secret is to fork off separate processes to deal with them. In the early years of training, and a company tuned to exploit it. The best way for a startup. Many people feel confused and depressed in their early twenties compressed into the work goes instead into the heads of would-be-evil end.
They won't like you raising other money and disputes. As far as I know of any that died from releasing something stable but minimal very early, then used a technicality to get going, and Smartleaf co-founders Mark Nitzberg and Olin Shivers at the mercy of circumstances: court decisions striking down state anti-recommendation. Incidentally, I'm just going to be extra skeptical about Viaweb too.
Emmett Shear, and philosophy the imprecise half.
To help clarify the matter. Whereas there is some kind of kludge you need a higher growth rate as evolutionary pressure is such a valuable technique that any given person might have.

Now that I've got the second draft of that section of Ark’s backstory out of the way and I’ve rewatched Tron: Uprising, I’ve finally figured out how to resolve the end of this particular part of her story.
I thought of this when I couldn’t sleep and I typed it on my phone, so it’s pretty rough around the edges. The part I wrote yesterday has been in my mind for months, so it’s had way longer to cook than this part has, so this part isn’t nearly as polished.
I feel like it’s pretty clunky, but, at least I wrote something and got it out there. I can definitely edit and rewrite it later to make it better.
-
First drafts: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Second drafts: Part 1 | Part 2 version 1 (you are here) | Part 2 version 2
Final draft: Combined Parts
-
Over time, Beck and Tron encounter Ark again and again. Each time she shows up, they mark her location and a pattern starts to become clear.
All of the places she's appeared at are starting to make a circle around an area.
It's clear that she's being used to lead them into a trap, but there's no telling when the final step will be.
Tron gestures at the map, "If we can figure out where she's leading us before she gets there." Beck realizes where he's going with this and adds, "We can spring the trap before they set it."
From there, the plan is put into motion. They split up, going into the city separately, but still close together. One of them will fight Ark when she shows up, while the other one discretely follows her when she flees. They have to be careful, as if the Occupation figures out that they know what the plan is, then they'll have time to set the trap.
Ark finds Tron first, so Beck gets into position, ready to quietly pursue her back to her headquarters.
When she takes off, Beck stays close behind on a parallel track, trying to keep from being noticed.
As soon as she starts to slow down, Beck does as well, hanging back to observe.
When he spots her go into a building, he memorizes the location and heads back to meet up with Tron to report in.
With the location now known, they start to put together a plan. Ark always waits a while before showing up again, so if they strike shortly after she appears and retreats, they should be able to go in and grab her without grabbing the attention that would be there once the Occupation's trap is set.
So, they wait, preparing everything they need. With Ark being rectified, she's not going to come along willingly, so they plan on taking several different ways of subduing her.
Like usual, Ark shows up again, they fight her and she retreats. But, this time, shortly after she does so, they follow after her.
The building is large, so once they sneak in, it's a tricky matter of finding where exactly she's at.
Beck knows the floor that prisoners have been on in other Occupation strongholds, so they head there first.
The floor is dark and nearly empty, except for one holding cell that has an active barrier.
As they get closer, it's clear that the prisoner is Ark, who is blankly standing in the middle of the cell.
Even as Beck quickly deactivates the barrier, Ark doesn't react in the slightest.
Despite this, Tron quietly uses a low voltage stun device to knock her out and scoops her up, carrying Ark in his arms.
Beck leads the way back, but as they near their chosen exit, they're stopped by Paige.
"You! What are you doing here?" She notices the scarred and unconscious program in Tron's arms, "What did you do to her?"
Beck shook his head, "We didn't do anything." Tron cleared his throat, and Beck hastily added, "Okay, we knocked her unconscious, but that's it. The Occupation did the rest. We're just trying to help her, she's the only reason why we're here."
Paige eyed the two masked programs with matching circuits, weighing her options. As a medic, she wanted that program to get help, but as a member of the Occupation, she couldn't trust these Renegades. She doubted that the Occupation had done this damage to their own program, but it was strange for the Renegades to risk kidnapping a low-rank soldier she had never seen before. That, and if this program was important enough, there was likely some kind of tracking device on her. If the Renegades brought her back to their base, then the Occupation could track them to their lair. Letting them go could be a win-win situation, but she had to make it look legit.
She drew her disc and went after the closest Renegade, "I don't know why you'd help somebody on my side."
Beck quickly blocked her attack and yelled to Tron, "Go! We're almost there, I'll catch up!"
Ark in hand, and trusting Beck, Tron left him to his battle.
Beck and Paige fought back and forth, until Beck saw his opening and just ran for it, disappearing into the city.
Tron was aware that there might be some sort of way the Occupation could track Ark, so him and Beck had set up a temporary base in the city.
Once Ark was secure, Beck got to work inspecting her disc, "I'm not sure how much I can do, but it won't hurt for me to give it a look."
He took off her disc and attached his wrench to it. To his surprise, it worked much like when he used it on a light cycle. Unfortunately, everything looked far different than he was used to.
There seemed to be layers of code, the top, and easiest to get to, was the Occupation code, but, underneath that, a few parts from the original code seemed to be coming up.
Tilting his head, Beck touched one of the older pieces of code to see what would happen.
Both him and Tron watched in horror as it showed them shaky and scattered memories of Ark being tortured.
Beck looks away, "The scars...these memories, they kept them with her for a reason."
Tron narrowed his eyes, "Likely so that she'd know what would happen if she disobeyed or failed."
Beck shook his head, "Maybe there's something else we can use to bring her back... Hey, she responded when you said her name, I wonder if there's some memory that it activates."
Tron looked over at Ark, "She's still out, so we'll have to try that later."
Beck nodded and continued poking around Ark's disc. After a while, he shook his head, "Something's wrong, but I'm not sure what. Things just aren't connecting how they look like they should be..."
That thought got put on hold as Ark started to wake up and stare straight ahead.
Tron nodded to Beck, then walked around to stand in front of Ark.
Beck got Ark's disc display back to the main area, then nodded to Tron.
Tron spoke quietly to her, "Ark, you're safe now, you're not with the Occupation any more."
Her eyes widened at this for a moment, but then her expression became blank once again.
But, that moment was enough. When she seemed to recognize Tron, a new file popped up and he activated it before it disappeared.
It was an older memory, from back when she was a System Monitor. Apparently, she had just finished an assignment, and Tron was praising her for a job well done.
Beck looked up at Tron, "She must really think a lot of you."
Tron nodded quietly, not saying anything.
Beck drops the topic and continues looking around Ark's disc. After a while, he sighs, "I'm not getting anywhere. I think we need a medic, but, the only one I know of works for the Occupation."
Tron sighs, "If we can't figure something out, we might have to go that route."
Beck nodded, asking Paige to help wasn't exactly an option, but what else could they do?
They took turns staying with Ark and going out into the city.
During one of Beck's outings, Paige is the one that found him. She grabbed him and pulled him aside, "Renegade, how's that friend of yours?"
Beck blinked, "Funny you should ask, there's something wrong with her disc, I think she needs a medic."
Paige looked at the masked program before her, if she played this right, the Renegade could lead her right to his hiding spot.
"If you'll trust me, I can give her a look."
Beck thinks this over, then nods, "Follow me."
Paige couldn't believe what was happening, everything was falling into place.
Beck took her right into their current base, she looked around, "Is this where you've been hiding all along."
He snorted, "You know I can't answer that."
Paige shrugged, "It was worth a try."
The temporary lair was sparse and Beck took her the shortest route to where they were keeping Ark.
Paige found the scene unnerving, the restrained program was just staring off blankly, "...Is she always like this?"
Beck nodded, "Most of the time."
Paige frowned, growing concerned for what that could mean about what happened to this program.
There wasn't time for that, though, she had a job to do.
"So, what do you know about her disc?"
Beck takes off Ark's disc and holds it out to Paige, "The Occupation's programming has taken over most of it. There's a few older memories here and there, but, for the most part, all of her original programming seems to be suppressed. But, the Occupation programming seems to have some odd connections. There's something missing or wrong, but I don't know enough to tell you what that could be."
Paige nods and takes a look for herself, everything seemed to be as Beck said. She avoided the memories for now, there was no need to be sentimental.
The more she saw of the modified disc, the more uncomfortable she was at the idea that the Occupation had done this to this program.
She tried to not think about it as she looked for the problem.
The programmed was bypassing something, but what? Finally, she found the answer in a severely burnt out energy processor.
There wasn't much that could do that kind of damage and on a hunch, she went to look at the memory fragments to see if they revealed the answer.
She got more than one answer, as she saw an Occupation program torturing the restrained program with bursts of electricity.
Even after the memory's playback ended, Paige stared at the disc. The Renegades had been right, the Occupation had done this to this program. But, why?
There's no answers in this memory cluster, and the only other one is far too old to be related.
With a look of determination, Paige went back to the damaged energy processor and slowly repaired it. It's not something she's done often and the work is somewhat tricky, so it takes a while.
Once that's done, she resyncs the disc to the program and takes a break.
Beck doesn't know what she's doing and thinks she's finished, "Thank you for your help."
"I'm not done yet. My patient still has code preventing her from functioning normally."
Beck was surprised at this, but his expression was completely hidden behind his mask.
Paige spends some time thinking over the challenges that await her with the overridden disc, she's never encountered a problem quite like this.
Once she's ready, she goes back at this disc again. She watches the older memory with Tron, but it contains no answers.
She digs through all the code and files, poking and prodding methodically, learning how the overlaid code works with everything.
Paige looks at different options and settings, she thinks she finds a solution when she spots that the newer code is set to default. However, she can't turn it off and reactivate the older code.
Grumbling in frustration, she investigates a few different things before turning to the bypass that was added to go around the damaged energy processor.
She tries a few different things before connecting it to the remaining older memories.
Going back to the defaults, she found that this extra connection had opened up the options.
Working quickly, she set the original programming to be the main and deactivated the newer code bit by bit, locking it out.
When she's done, Paige double-checks her work, then hands the disc to Beck. "This should fix her. There's still...unwanted code, but it shouldn't cause any more problems. I have to go."
She quickly and quietly leaves, she's got a lot to think about.
Beck looks to Tron, "That went better than I expected."
Tron deactivated his helmet with a frown, "That is, if this works."
Beck removed his helmet as well, "I think it will. She seemed like she wanted to help and was shaken by what the Occupation did to Ark."
Tron nods, "I hope you're right."
He walked over to stand in front of Ark, "Go ahead and sync her disc."
Beck gives him a nod and places Ark's disc on her dock.
It takes some time for the extensive changes to take place, but, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, her eyes flickered as the sync finished up.
Ark looks around in confusion, but sees Tron standing in front of her.
She gasps, "You were right, it was a trap. I'm sorry." The waves of memories keep coming, "Wait...the last thing I remember is they did something to my code...and then it all went dark. You fixed me?"
Beck came around and stood next to Tron. Tron put his hand on his shoulder, "A friend of Beck's was able to repair what the Occupation did to you."
Ark smiled, "Thank you. Judging by your circuits, we've got the same job, so I think we're going to get along."
Beck returned her smile, "I think we will, too."
Tron goes around and releases Ark from her restraints, "We've all got a lot of catching up to do."

2000 iMRS Prime in Conjunction with iMRS 2000
Tumblr media
The Life Mat Company's PEMF manufacturer of choice is Swiss Bionic Solutions, creators of our previous device, the iMRS, as well as the two major systems we now offer: the iMRS Prime (also known as the iMRS 2000) and the Omnium1.
Our primary selection criteria for the original iMRS 2000:
• Proven efficacy in a wide variety of consumers for a long period of time
• The use of low-intensity PEMF fields is secure.
• Basic integrated bio-feedback to balance the users' health status with the signal
• Simplicity of use
• Functions and accessories are available in a variety of configurations.
• Product dependability
• Warranty and service level
• A sizable market share and sales volume to finance ongoing research and product growth
There are several PEMF programs on the market, and we've owned and used some of the top brands. We've been approached by other suppliers numerous times, but there are several significant reasons why we've stuck with Swiss Bionic.
youtube
The iMRS Prime expanded on all of this by including:
• A composite energy field combining PEMF and advanced Far Infrared.
• A sophisticated operating system with many input and output ports has much greater upgradeability than most PEMF implementations.
• A versatile signal generator capable of producing some kind of PEMF signal.
• Advanced real-time biofeedback through heart rate variability and blood oxygen saturation to determine which settings are most effective and to monitor key health parameters over time.
• Quick Start services have immediate access to seven distinct experiences.
• One or two consumers using two or three applicators at the same time.
• A localised Helmholtz Effect spot applicator.
• Significant enhancements to architecture, construction, and materials.
• Five tiers of systems, packages, packs, and packages (described below), each with a unique collection of features.
The iMRS Prime's fusion of innovations elevates it to a whole new category of PEMF device, well above standard PEMF and unlike everything else on the market today. The iMRS Prime Hybrid Collection, in particular, is one of the most effective ways of relaxation, rejuvenation, and stress reduction ever devised.
Prime Construction + Design by iMRS
Any component and design detail on the iMRS Prime is of the highest quality. We searched, and there is nothing remotely similar on the market.
The tough angled glass of the touch-screen control unit, the strong aluminum and resistant coating of the control unit and connector box, the comfortable padding and tactile, washable surface on the mat and other applicators, the indicator lights on every applicator, the thick, medical-grade cables and their rubberized outer coating, the easy-to-insert click plugs and sockets, the simplicity of the design
It took five years to conceptualize and design the Prime. Despite developing the world's most sophisticated PEMF machine, Swiss Bionic realized that the user interface had to be as easy, relaxed, and adaptable as possible. As a lifestyle and health care unit, it also needed to have a sleek, futuristic look that would blend in with any interior.
They still had to look at the finest fabrics and parts available. Anything else would jeopardize their goal of revolutionizing the PEMF industry. We believe they met their objectives.

Professional pemf therapy
The iMRS Prime is powered by a control unit that includes a touch-screen monitor housed within a solid aluminum casing and stand. It resembles an iMac device but is compact enough to fit into a small shoulder pocket.
Many of the system's features and configurations are configured here. It has been built to be user-friendly, and you will be able to use it within minutes. Sessions can be begun by simply pressing two keys.
• Bronze titanium finish brushed aluminum case and pedestal
• Capacitive touch screen monitor 10.2"
• A single cord connects to the Connector Box.
• There are two internal microphones.
• Two USB ports (for upgrades, firmware updates and more)
• Two earphone jacks (you should use your own ears instead of the Exagon Brain's earphones if you prefer).
The iMRS Prime Connector Box functions as a hub, allowing for the use of more applicators. It attaches to the control unit with a single long cord, keeping it clutter-free.
It connects two sets of applicators, as well as pairs of bio-feedback and brain entrainment devices, and is made of the same brushed aluminum as the control panel.
• A microprocessor that can handle many inputs and outputs.
• Two digital-analogue converters to accommodate several programs running at the same time
• There are six applicator ports (to run multiple applicators at the same time)
• 2 multi-pin connectors (for Exagon Sense devices)
• Two USB ports (for Exagon Brain devices)
• Click-in applicator sockets of medical standard
The iMRS Prime's primary care kit is a cushioned whole-body-length pad measuring 170 cm x 59 cm x 4.5 cm thick (68′′ x 23′′ x 1.75′′). It is made up of three pairs of copper coils, with the lowest area at the head end (17.50 microTesla) and the highest at the feet (up to 45 mT).
Again, this is a significant upgrade over the mat that came with its ancestor, the iMRS. It is still made of a solid, sturdy, and washable material, but it now has an embossed surface texture that makes it softer and more pleasant to lay on (even before the comfort level is increased further by adding Far Infra Red on the Hybrid version).
As for all of the Prime's applicators, it has a small LED lamp on its edge that changes color as its field changes polarity every two minutes, from blue to green to blue, and to red if it has a flaw. It folds and stores comfortably and can be tucked into a corner, under a bed, or placed in an extra shoulder bag since it is divided into three hinged sheets.
When you lie down on the mat, it bathes the whole body and all of its internal structures in a pulsed electro magnetic field produced by a complicated "sawtooth" signal. A cycle of normal earth-based frequencies (determined by the time of day) modulates the mat's field further, including the Schumann Resonance.
Although other elements are beneficial for localized pain reduction, tissue recovery, and stress management, regular sessions on the mat are central to using the iMRS for better fitness, recovery, and well-being. Mat sessions, by influencing any system in the body, are beneficial for a wide range of health problems, especially boosting energy levels and sleep quality, speeding up metabolism, and enhancing circulation, oxygenation, and neurological functions.
The regular PEMF mat is replaced by a PEMF and Far Infrared mat in the iMRS Prime Hybrid kit. The Hybrid mat is the first of its kind to integrate a pure PEMF signal with next-generation FIR processing, thanks to an additional layer of carbon fiber mesh. The FIR field augments the effects of PEMF in re-energizing and opening cell membrane pathways.
Applicator for Pads
Any iMRS Prime standard includes a cushioned pad measuring 58 cm x 34 cm x 4 cm (23′′ x 13.5′′ x 1.5′′). The pad uses two of the same copper coils as the entire body mat, but with a separate, square-wave signal and a maximum strength of 65 microTesla. Its greater coverage area, which is larger than the previous iMRS pad, is particularly useful for treating the entire back, but also other main body regions, such as the chest and abdomen, at higher intensities than you can use on the mat. The pad is particularly beneficial for managing discomfort and discomfort in the shoulders and back, tendinitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, and myofascial injuries, sore muscles after physical exercise, inflammation in large joints, and accelerating the healing of bone breaks, cartilage, and muscle tears. It is also beneficial to the function of different organs in the body.
Applicator for Spot
This unit, which is part of the top four levels of the iMRS Prime, builds on our experience with the Omnium1 and replaces the probes that came with the old iMRS and MRS2000 devices. The spot applicator has dimensions of 32 cm x 14 cm x 3 cm (17′′ x 5.5′′ x 1.25′′). It has two coils in two pads that are connected by a flat velcro-attached connector strap.
This enables it to concentrate concentrated attention on small areas of pain or dysfunction: either one coil wrapped around a side, foot, arm, knee, elbow, wrist, or ankle, or wrapped around a hand, foot, shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist, or ankle. When the Spot is wrapped, the coils opposite each other produce a Helmholtz Effect (a homogeneous magnetic field), which doubles the effects of the PEMF field in that region. This concentrated strength can be especially beneficial for those living with chronic pain or dysfunction, as well as those who suffer from frequent injuries. And we all get hurt and get wounds from time to time. For small soft tissue or joint trauma, the Spot's highest pressure may be incredibly powerful — when applied right after the injury, it's not uncommon to see discomfort disappearing within minutes, or at the very least within a day or two. Repairs to more dense tissues, such as cartilage and bone fractures, can take longer but are usually much quicker than average.
Tags: release, professional pemf therapy,
The Spot, like the pad, employs a square-wave signal and is usually used at much higher intensities than the mat. The mat and pad have average outputs of 45 and 65 microTesla (0.45 and 0.65 gauss), respectively, while the Spot has a maximum output of 120 microTesla (1.2 gauss), making it the most powerful of the three iMRS Prime applicators.
The Exagon Sense is a term used to describe a person's ability
Since it is an optional accessory, the Exagon Sense is one of the most important methods for maximizing the iMRS Prime's capacity. The Sense is an optical measurement unit that attaches to your finger and monitors your Heart Rate Variability (HRV, the fluctuating time interval between each pair of heartbeats).
With this information, the device transforms the entire iMRS Prime system into a one-of-a-kind bio-feedback loop. The Sense software and system are much more sophisticated than the iMORE device and the old iMRS system. For the first time, it is now possible to fine-tune the PEMF area to meet the evolving needs of the customer, save the data for up to a year, and analyze it using specialized HRV tools. As a result, the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is tuned up during each session. If the HRV work slowly improves over time (this is not a fast fix), the body is pushed toward its maximum capacity for responding to stress, enhancing its ability to regenerate itself and re-establish health and wellbeing.
The Sense even tests the amount of oxygen in your blood (SpO2). Its light wave senses changes in the color of the blood, which signify the level of oxygen saturation. A typical reading ranges from 95 to 100 percent (of oxygenated vs un-oxygenated haemoglobin). Both PEMF systems help to boost circulation, and during an iMRS Prime session, blood oxygen levels will increase by 2-3 percentage points. During each session, the Exagon Sense allows you to see the magnitude of this.

The Exagon Mind
The Sound and Light System on the iMRS Prime is the ideal complement to both the main system and the Exagon Sense. The Exagon Brain works like a spa for the brain, removing tension and improving social balance, mental concentration, and clarity.
When the mat is soaking the whole body in a rejuvenating field, the Exagon Brain augments its effects by promoting deeper relaxation and allowing you to sleep deeper, more restoratively.
The Brain, in contrast to the longer-term effects of the Sense, is a fast cure, normally providing rapid relief. This is significant because several scientific trials have found that stress is a major contributor to the majority of severe diseases.
The Brain device consists of a very comfortable visor with an elastic headband and cushioned inner edges that connects to the connector box via a USB plug. You can then attach your own headphones to the built-in music player, or we can advice you on the right styles to consider.
The Brain integrates four distinct modalities:
• Brain Entrainment of blinking lights – assists the brain in moving through the Alpha and Theta waves, which are associated with deep learning, imagination, visualization, and concept development.
• Binaural beats brain entrainment – a decades-old method of brain entrainment used in healing, meditation, and learning.
• Music therapy – build a music library by using the built-in music programs or downloading your favorite songs. We will provide you with music playlists for various reasons such as relaxation, therapy, studying, and so on.
• Color therapy: choose virtually every color from the light spectrum to be emitted by the LED lamps. Different colors have been found to affect moods, energy levels, enthusiasm, and cognitive ability in various ways.
Systems iMRS Prime / iMRS 2000
The iMRS Prime Basic is a basic version of the iMRS Prime.
An entry-level version that includes only the control unit, connector box, mat, and pad, as well as the top intensity, quick start programs, and 1-60 minute timer, but does not include the most powerful applicator, the Spot attachment.
The iMRS Prime Advanced is an advanced version of the iMRS Prime.
All in the Basic plus the Spot applicator is included. This is a smaller but more effective double pad for localized pain relief and tissue healing. It's particularly helpful for people who suffer from chronic pain or dysfunction, but it's also handy to have on hand in case you hurt yourself.
The Prime iMRS Expert
Tumblr media
• The iGuide database (updated) with hundreds of health problems with optimal settings for assisting the body for each – particularly helpful for therapists and hospitals, but also used by many home users. • A Split Mode, which enables the use of two applicators at the same time. That is, for example, one person uses two Spots on two ankles. Alternatively, two people may use two separate pads, two Sense sensors, and two Sound and Light systems, each with its own set of settings.
Please keep in mind that, while the Prime Basic, Advanced, and Expert levels can be upgraded, the Prime Hybrid and Trial cannot; you must order them at the time of your initial order.
The iMRS Prime Hybrid is a hybrid medical imaging system.
All in the Expert package, plus a new form of mat that mixes PEMF with carbon-fibre-based Far Infrared electricity. The feeling generated by these combined technologies is similar to floating. As this is mixed with Heart Rate Variability and Sound + Light (in the iMRS Prime Hybrid Set), the feeling of greater calm and recovery is likely to be unlike anything you've ever seen — we call this the Bliss Package at the Life Mat Company!
The iMRS Prime Trial is a clinical trial of the iMRS.
This top-tier system contains everything from the Expert and Hybrid systems, as well as a modern signal generator. Designed for clinicians and academics, this allows them to replicate and invent PEMF signals used in laboratory studies. The Heart Rate Variability storage and measurement features of the machine then become a helpful means of measuring and tracking the body's responses and progress in response to these new signals. The iMRS Prime Trial is capable of producing any combination of waveforms, frequencies, pulsing, and intensities up to 1000 microTesla (which is still relatively low intensity compared with some other systems but far higher than we recommend for regular home use). The purchasing and use of this system/set comes with a training and qualification obligation.
Overall, we believe the iMRS Prime Trial's mix of functions has the potential to become a reference standard for the PEMF testing industry, assisting it in achieving standardised, replicable signal parameters and measures of their effects using the commonly accepted diagnostic normal of Heart Rate Variability.
But for the Trial version, each stage of the iMRS Prime employs the same triple sawtooth and square waves, as well as the same Nature-based frequencies and intensities, as were employed by the original iMRS, the MRS2000, and now the Omnium1. When using the body-length mat, the control center adjusts frequencies based on the time of day. Specifically, the body's circadian rhythms, the time-of-day organ hypothesis used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the various brain waves dominant at different times of day.
Costs
Our vendor sets the rates for us and all other sellers, but if you see a cheaper price anywhere, it's probably a scam, and it's normally second-hand — the manufacturer can only complete a deal at the official price for that country and currency. The key distinctions between distributors are not costs or the availability of local assistance, but rather standards of expertise and competence, as well as the standard of consultations and preparation. The destination of which we are exporting decides the price and currency used. Much of Europe's pricing is in Euros, and we have local currency prices for the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The bulk of the world's pricing is in US dollars.
In the United Kingdom, iMRS Prime systems start at £2520 for the Basic model, growing to £4646 for our favourite, the iMRS Prime Hybrid Set, and £5377 for the iMRS Prime Trial Set tailored for therapists and researchers. We ship internationally, and for a complete price list for any country, please call us at 1-800-900-5556 X 1. Please keep in mind that, whether you are VAT free, these rates are subject to 20% VAT, which will be done for you at UK customs by the courier firm.
Please keep in mind that we often have exclusive deals that have by far the best rates on selected systems. This are normally shown on the Special deals tab, but if you send us a call, we can check what is available and answer any questions you might have.
The other most cost-effective way to purchase an iMRS Prime is to order both the Exagon Sense and Brain systems at the same time, resulting in a highly discounted Prime Package. For further detail on sets, see the section below.
Sets for iMRS Prime
Any of these key systems can also be updated in the form of an iMRS Prime Set (at a significant discount if they are part of your original order). The Exagon Sense and Exagon Brain gadgets are included with both of these packs. There are much more sophisticated implementations of the iMORE and iSLRS systems that were formerly available on the iMRS framework.
Both the Sense and the Brain are well worth considering for their potential to relieve discomfort (and thereby deepen the impact of the PEMF field), as well as the Sense's ability to decide which settings are better for the consumer. And the cumulative discount from purchasing them as a package is so significant that it's often an easy decision to prioritize this as the first kind of device update.
It's worth noting that the I (for intelligent) in iMRS or iMRS 2000 refers to the Exagon Sense connection, which converts the whole device into an automated, continuous bio-feedback loop, with the user's heart rate variability calculation and the mat's PEMF field intensity serving as the two ends of the loop.

Packs and Bundles for iMRS Prime
Boxes and packages of iMRS Prime systems and sets are also available. Here are two illustrations:
Split Mode, which is now available on the iMRS Prime Expert, Hybrid, and Trial models, allows you to power a second range of applicators and accessories from a single control unit and connector box.
This enables more than one person to receive a care at the same time, which can be very helpful at some times of the day, especially before bedtime. It also allows a single patient to use multiple applicators at the same time, which is particularly useful for abdominal therapies and localized pain and dysfunction.
When placing several orders for systems and packs, we are always asked whether there are any additional savings. These are normally related orders for a group of family members, acquaintances, or peers during the same month, or where one person wishes to gift programs to those close to them.
If you want a quote for a double pack or a family package, please contact us.
Frequently Asked Questions About the iMRS Prime or iMRS 2000
How much does delivery cost and how long does it take?
We deliver attractive shipping rates for the iMRS Prime to the United Kingdom and Europe from a variety of carriers. DHL has become our long-term partner, and shipping to the UK costs £65, €30 to EU countries, and €70 to non-EU European countries. This normally takes three to four days for EU countries and around a week for the rest of the world.
The case with exports to the United Kingdom has become even more ambiguous. In addition to putting a burden on the entire global transport environment since the pandemic, post-Brexit shipping and customs have been even less predictable. DHL exports have been slowly slowing since January 2021, and can now take several weeks. We've tried other carriers since then, including UPS and FedEx, but the cheapest we've found so far is DPD, which costs £85 and takes 4-5 days on average.
We also ship internationally and provide global service. If you live outside of the UK or the EU, please contact us for shipping rates to your area.
Rates to non-EU European countries, the Middle East and Africa, North and South America, and Asia differ greatly, and we sometimes use another shipper, such as FedEx, depending on the region.
We always ship from the closest factory to you, and we always look for the cheapest alternative possible, so delivery would be no more expensive than if you bought from a nearby distributor.
Is it easy to use?
With so many on-screen buttons, the control unit can seem intimidating at first. It's really quite easy to use. To switch it on and start a session with the default settings, the user only needs to press two keys.
It just takes three more buttons to customize it to your own needs for strength, duration, and applicator selection (with the Prime Expert level, you can just select whatever health issue you want to support by using the iGuide database).
Certainly, the Trial stage of the iMRS Prime is much more complex, with the ability to modify the simple PEMF signal in a variety of ways and taking some in-depth preparation (we have video modules for this).
However, the only possible complexity for the normal consumer is the guidance and instruction that we provide to each customer about how to use the device for any needs they have.
How transportable is it?
The iMRS Prime Hybrid Set as a whole weighs just 11 kilograms and can be comfortably transported in its optional travel bags (one for the mat, another for the control unit, connector box and accessories).
The mat is divided into three jointed sections, which eliminates the guesswork of where to fold it and allows it to be easily folded into a zig zag cross section for packing or holding.
Is Graduated Intensity Used in the iMRS Prime?
Yes, it has eight different ranges of field pressure, ranging from a very low 0.09 microTesla on the sensitive setting with the mat to a relatively high 120 microTesla on the 400 setting with the location. The field is better with the location than with the pad or the mat using the same pressure settings.
The pad is also graduated, with a lower field from the head-end panel (due to less copper coil windings) and a slightly higher field from the feet-end panel.
Is there a Bio-Rhythm Clock?
Yes, the iMRS Prime configures a different output for each six hours of a 24-hour day, consistent with the dominant brainwave frequencies of the circadian rhythm: energetic and alert in the early morning, steadily shifting to tired and calm at night, using the main brainwave frequencies. See the section on frequencies below for more details.
The clock setting may be overridden at any moment to meet particular needs, such as staying alert and energized for late-night work or assisting with jet lag. You can also select whether you want to be alert, energized, calm, or tired by using the Quick Start programs, which are accessible by pressing a single on-screen button.
What type(s) of signal(s) does it employ?
For local zones, the iMRS Prime employs a sawtooth signal on the main mat and a square wave signal on the applicators (the pad and the spot). The only exception is by using the mat in conjunction with the Solfeggio Quick Start software. To produce the nine Solfeggio frequencies in their purest form, this Fast Start employs a sinusoidal wave that delivers each frequency in series.
The iMRS Prime Trial edition also includes a signal generator that can generate a wide range of waveforms, speeds, pulse rates, and intensities in order to reproduce almost any signal (although this is primarily designed for use as a standardised piece of research equipment for PEMF clinical trials).
What kind of coils does it have?
The iMRS Prime / iMRS2000 has three pairs of solid copper coils running the length of the mat, one pair in the pad, and a copper coil closely wrapped around a ferrous core within the probe. The coils inside the mat and pad are protected by lots of padding, both to shield the coils from metal fatigue and to make the mat as easy to lay down on as possible.
youtube
What do I do if I am too tall for the mat?
It is correct because if you are taller than 1.7 meters (5′ 7′′), your whole body would not match on the iMRS Prime pad. However, keep in mind that the system's architecture is partially a balance between its shape and portability (the Prime mat is the right length to fold into three and fit into a manageable shoulder bag), and the PEMF field emanates from the coils within the mat in all directions.
And if your feet (which are generally less important than your brain!) are dangling off the end, they are still collecting energy from the mat. If you have an issue with your feet, you will usually handle them individually with the pad, but if it's anything as basic and popular as weak foot circulation, just putting the whole of the body on top of the mat would improve the whole cardiovascular system. Is that using frequencies and intensities derived from the Earth?
Real. Here's how it works:
Intensities: The iMRS mat is built to mimic what is present in nature, with a spectrum of 0.09 microTesla to 45 microTesla based on the strength setting selected and the various parts of the mat (highest at the feet, lowest at the head). This contrasts with Earth's magnetic field, which averages about 50 microTesla and varies between highs of around 66 microTesla at the north and south poles and lows of about 26 microTesla at the equator.
We are often asked, "Doesn't this mean that the iMRS area is abnormally high when using the pad or spot?" (which reach peaks of 65 and 120 microTesla, respectively). The response is that matching Nature's field intensities is only important when using the mat to handle the whole body.
Just the strongest intensities of the spot truly surpass the range of the Earth's magnetic field, and it is only used for localized therapies. Furthermore, the highest intensities are often used mainly for acute discomfort and tissue injury, rather than on a normal basis.
Unless the individual is very vulnerable to electro-magnetic fields, even the highest intensities are unlikely to trigger any complications, at least on an occasional basis (and if they do, or if you have any reservations about using them, you can just turn them down, even to amounts that are a tiny fraction of the Earth's magnetic field).
Frequencies are produced by the iMRS Prime using pulse packages of time-varying electro-magnetic impulses. These frequencies, including intensities, are chosen to correspond to what is present in nature. They are particularly interested in research explaining the presence of a "Biological Window," a frequency band ranging from 0.5 to 30 Hz (cycles per second).
This has been optimized in the iMRS Prime / imrs2000 as a small range that remains well within the frequency range present in the Earth's magnetic field and atmosphere (including the Schumann Resonances peaking at 7.8 Hz and human brainwaves). The frequencies used in the iMRS Prime's "Organ Clock" loop between various brainwave frequencies for different times of day:
• Beta at 15Hz in the morning • Afternoon: 5.5Hz Alpha • Evening: 3Hz Theta • Delta at 0.5Hz at night
Another goal is to have frequencies that cause resonating effects within the cells. Cell membrane receptors react to frequencies they recognize and begin to resonate with them. Different types of cells and processes have different resonance frequencies:
• Frequency 2Hz: Nerve Regeneration • 1-5 Hz: Rejuvenation • Frequency 7 Hz: Bone Growth • Brain Cells: 0.5 – 15Hz Ligaments at 10Hz • Fibroblasts with frequencies ranging from 12 to 20 hertz • 20Hz: Circulation of the Blood + Oxygenation • Metabolic Stimulation: 25–30Hz
Is the iMRS identical to the iMRS2000?
This is an often asked topic. Despite many online references, “iMRS2000” or “iMRS 2000 Prime” is just an American marketing word for the original product name, the iMRS or iMRS Prime. The concept blends the names of two real products, the earlier MRS2000 device and the iMRS, which replaced it in 2010.
The MRS2000, which was discontinued when the iMRS was introduced, had a much bigger and heavier control unit, as well as a pad that was much bulkier and more difficult to fold. The addition of the letter I to the front of the product name, i.e. iMRS, indicated that it was now a "intelligent" machine capable of interacting with body readings through the iMORE interface (now the Exagon Sense connection in the iMRS Prime) as a continuous bio-feedback loop.
Regardless of where you buy, and even though the machine is sold as an iMRS 2000 Prime, you will obtain the most recent iMRS Prime model.
How long does the warranty last?
All of the major iMRS Prime systems have a three-year worldwide warranty that includes complete exchange of the control unit and applicators as well as free delivery back to the consumer. Accessories are covered for a period of six months. An enhanced warranty for the same level of support on the primary device is also available for £379.00 for an additional two years.
Is the iMRS Prime a well-made and dependable product?
Swiss Bionic Solutions, our manufacturer, is an ISO accredited firm, their PEMF products are CE certified, and they undergo routine external audits of their manufacturing and documentation. The iMRS is made of high-quality, long-lasting materials and is assembled in compliance with the EC directive for medical devices. In reality, it most likely has more robust regulatory and quality certifications than any other home-use PEMF product on the market, and this gap is expected to grow significantly in the near future. There are a few demands for maintenance that we see.
How Long Will An iMRS Prime Be Expected To Last?
Based on our previous iMRS and MRS2000 device experiences, an iMRS Prime system can last for several years under regular daily use. This is emphasized by the fact that SBS offers up to a 5-year warranty on it. We have an MRS2000 machine (predecessor to the iMRS) that has been running for over ten years and has never needed repairs. Moreover, despite the fact that the MRS2000 was phased out of manufacturing in 2011, SBS continues to provide assistance when an issue arises. There are no moving parts, and there is virtually no need for repair or re-calibration.
The Prime has two-way contact between the applicators and the connection box; if there is a problem with an applicator, the device processor will notice it and the light indicator on the applicator will turn red to alert you of a problem. Finally, the iMRS Prime can be easily upgraded via remote updates to higher product levels or new firmware. This provides it with a high level of "future-proofing" as new programs are created.
Is it possible for my pets to use the iMRS?
Many families share their iMRS scheme with their dogs, keeping it clean by putting a pet blanket on top. Large dogs will use the pad on their own, while small dogs and cats will often snuggle up to their parents. Placing the pet's blanket on top would keep the applicators clean and unmarked, but some people have so many dogs and are so concerned with their wellbeing that they prefer to have a different device only for the pets (this is uncommon!).
Localized issues, such as sore knees, are better handled on the spot, and sitting on the pad may be particularly helpful for the smallest animals. We make an equine variant for bigger animals like horses and cows that attaches the control box to two wide panels on each side of the body. There are so many ways these programs can benefit your pet's general health and well-being that you're sure to save money on vet bills. However, keep in mind that, particularly if the pet has a serious health problem, you should seek the approval of a veterinarian before handling the pet yourself.
Is it safe to use while driving?
The iMRS Prime has much more complex functions than its contemporaries, which necessitate a distinct form of power input. This is one of the implementations that would necessitate the use of an Omnium1 device with a large internal battery.
Some of our customers do this to maximize consumption, especially when the driver is suffering from back pain or requires extra energy on a long trip. Obviously, the mat cannot be used with a car seat, but if properly set up, the pad or position can be used behind the driver's back and for a variety of uses for passengers. Some families even use it on a regular basis to treat their children on their way to and from athletic practice and games.

Your Plance Portal AU pics inspired a small bit of fiction from me. Not sure what to do with it, so here you are. Apologies if it's a bit rough, first draft. Feel free to modify, share, whatever. I'm just anon. And sorry for the lack of formatting that will result in posting here. (part 1) "Why?" The fascinating specimen asked of me. His eyes darting over the form I had taken. Curiosity. Heightened heart rate. A curious combination of two of the three primal Fs. Fascinating as always.
Wow! Your story parts were amazing! While I admit, some sections were hard to read, conclude who was talking, but I did love it! Of course, you did call it a first/rough draft and stories start that way!
You had said I was free to modify and/or share. I took you up on that offer and applied your work to this. It was fun to work with and thank you for writing it and giving me an opportunity to work with it.
Hopefully it all shows; if not, I’ll reblog the answer with the full post/ficlet.
Pidge. It was a simple name she was referred to as. She. A humanized term to separate sexes and give identity. That was her understanding. It was a logical things to humans, but not to the likes of an android, program to see and comprehend numbers, not emotions and desires. So why? Why did she go by that word that could otherwise be called a pronoun?
“Why?” Her attention was brought to the latest of the subjects, a young man. Subject number 117-98-78. He insisted on being called Lance. Another human thing. But she supposed, to some extent, she could relate. She was given a name, too, along with her identity number. Her name, though, was shorter and easier to input by her creators when they wrote their notes.
Pidge examined Lance further, doing a scan of her own on the biological creature. His heart rate was increasing. An emotional response? Or perhaps it was the adrenaline humans felt when going through certain tasks that forces them to exert themselves physically and even emotionally. “You will need to reiterate your query for proper understanding so an appropriate answer can be provided.”
“Fine then. Why are you putting me through this?” Lance commanded. “Why do I need to go through these tests? What do you gain from all of this?!”
Pidge considered his questioned for a moment. To be honest, there was no complex reason for why she did it. It was her core imperative; it was her duty to test subjects and gather data. But would that response be enough for the latest subject? “You are a new variable.” she responded finally. “With the cloned and robotic test subjects being identical variables, testing and collecting data has grown stagnant and all data is outdated and irrelevant. You, however, come from outside the testing facility. You are a new variable and therefore present new data to study.”
“Dude! I could have died back there!” Lance snapped, his anger elevating. It was an illogical outburst from Pidge’s perspective, but, then again, humans were rather illogical. “Pit traps? Laser grids? And don’t get me started on that green goo you dare call sustenance. It’s freaking torture!”
“Incorrect.” Pidge responded, plain and simple. “This is testing. Testing is a necessary part of improving and moving forward. It is, after all, the core of my programming. To continue in my duty of gathering data. I test, therefore I am. I am, therefore...”
“Yeah, well, I don’t think Doctor and Professor Holt would have wanted testing to be this cruel.” Lance interrupted.
Pidge felt a stutter in her programming. Those names. Her creators. He knew their names. “Guessing their names correctly and knowing they created me specifically would be nearly impossible.” she commented. “Logic would point to you being aware of their classified research on redacted information. Despite this, mentioning them when in your current situation with the risks on your life tell me that you are not an intelligence operative of any enemy of my creators or their benefactors.” She performed another scan. “There are no indications in your biology to suggest any attempt of deceit. This is data that I did not anticipate. Explain. How do you know the names of my creators?”
“Huh? Well, everyone knows who the Holts are.” Lance stated, looking confused. “They changed everything. Botany, terraforming, space travel, they were the top minds of Altean Laboratories. Their work was groundbreaking.”
“Were. Changed. Was. These terms in how they are used are indication of past tense.” Pidge commented.
Lance was perplexed. “I mean… well… yeah, totally.” he said. “It was five centuries ago, give or take some months or single years.”
Pidge couldn’t explain the dip in her cor performance. Had she been human, she would have described it as a weight in her stomach. Had it seriously been that long? She had lost connection to her internal clock several thousand test subjects ago. “That is impossible.” she stated. “The facility around you operates due to the power obtained from the plasma reactor. It had only an estimated lifespan of three to four centuries; due to the renewal of energy sources, I have managed to re-calibrate that and extend it for another half century or so. To continue getting power to keep the facility functioning would be impossible. My ability to function would have ceased.”
Lance sighed. He then decided to bring up a holographic display. Pidge found she could not interface with the hologram; she decided she could endure collecting data visually. As she looked at the hologram, she saw the schematics of the facility. But not all was the same. There was a new structure that she could not identify.
Lance picked up on where Pidge was looking. “You see it, too, huh?” he asked. He pointed to an area on the hologram. “Right here. We had reason to believe that a piece of what we refer to as the trans-reality comet has found its way here. And by we, I mean my superior officers. I’m just the field guy who goes in and investigates things; the others are the science guys who understand this stuff better. Anyway, long story short, but this thing is apparently radiating energy and with a copious amount still stored in it. There’s a problem, though.”
Pidge couldn’t interface with the hologram, but she knew the subject could. She went in close, finding her humanoid form to be convenient for times like this. She gently took Lance’s hand and moved it, prompting him to touch certain parts and bring up more data on the hologram.
“It appears to be unstable.” Pidge commented.
“Extremely.”
“The plasma from the facility’s reactor appears to be the cause of of the instability. However, I do not have sufficient data to fully determine how accurate this is.” Pidge glanced over to Lance, realizing he was staring at her, his mouth hung open a bit. “Does me not having the full answer cause this human emotion of bewilderment?” she inquired. “It should not; results cannot be properly determined without sufficient amounts of data. I have not collected enough data on the subject of this comet and its interactions with the reactor.”
“No it’s just...” Lance looked at Pidge’s hand, seeing it still around his own. “Your hand. It’s so warm. I didn’t expect that.” Pidge pulled her hand away quickly. “What are you? How are you so warm?”
“I am not; this is simply a byproduct of the cooling systems aboard this particular interface unit.” Pidge responded. “This unit is only a feature provided to me. I am, after all, the facility computer.”
Lance looked closely. “So… why do you look like a girl?”
Pidge blinked. So even he acknowledged that he seemed like a girl, at least in appearance. She looked ahead and away from the subject. “This interface unit was called the Physical Interface Data Gateway Exchange. To make data input easier, they formed it into the acronym PIDGE.” she explained. “It was designed with the intention of making interactions with subjects feel less… impersonal. It is for the benefit of my creators and the facility, not of my own. I have insufficient amounts of data to determine why they have given me this form.” She didn’t speak about it, but what little data she had about that, she had image files showing a member of the Holt family with a similar appearance. Perhaps it was meant to immortalize that member? She lacked the data to determine that.
“Pidge, huh?” Lance asked. “So it’s a name?”
“It is what they called me due to it being easier on the creators and less time consuming for their already limited lives.” Pidge commented. “Now then, since I have answered your queries and indulged your curiosities, it would be preferable to continue the testing.”
Lance gave a smile, but it did not look calm. It looked almost forced. “Sorry, but… this is where the testing ends, Pidge. Pidge did not understand. She then felt something in her, as though the numbers she lived by were changing.
“I do not comprehend.” she commented. She felt off balance, as though she could not properly control the unit meant for interfacing. But she couldn’t disconnect, either; she couldn’t return fully to the computer system. “What did you do to my systems? How did…”
Lance gave a bit of a guilty smile. He then brought up a new image for the hologram. “I had some help but… your entire core program? It’s gone. No more testing. No more of this… cruel torture. You’re in this device now, disconnected from everything else. Like an old game disk; one wrong move, you’re gone. Completely.”
“Impressive.” Pidge commented. “I did not anticipate your device having the necessary storage capacity for my system. Perhaps the claim of five centuries passing is not as far-fetched as I originally determined.” Around them, the corridors and testing chambers grew dark. What Lance could only assume to be the emergency lights turned on, illuminating the area in a bright red. “It does not appear that you or your outside help have considered another variable.”
“Um… what variable?”
“The default settings booting back up upon my removal.”
“Ah quiznak.” Pidge could only assume that Lance’s choice of word meant something profound. “Okay… so what do we get? Some five hundred year old security system about to hunt me down?”
“That would be accurate to the data.” Pidge confirmed. “Which would not be good for your condition.”
“My condition?”
“Of being alive.”
“Oh.”
“However, I do possess the necessary data to thwart the old program. The variable now stands at you being the only one who can interface with my core due to the technology you transferred to it. It would then be in my best interest to keep your status as alive.”
“I mean, how hard can this be? I’ve dealt with you so far.” Lance prompted. He jumped when a sound caught his attention. There was movement further in the corridor. Blades typically seen in tests, meant to be turned off or dodged. Past it? There was another figure, though harder to see.
“In subject terms? Bad. Very bad.” Pidge commented. “I suggest listening to what I say and following my instructions without fail.” She looked to Lance. “My first instruction-”
“I’m gonna take a guess and say run!” Lance grabbed Pidge by the hand and ran off in the opposite direction, pulling her along; it was a good thing that despite her data being put into the device around his arm, her body, as one could call it, was still functional and able to move.
Again, thank you so much for this opportunity!

The Cocoro of Rococo
My answer to Drakgo prompt #3.  I cheated a little on the prompt.  Oh well!
Title is from a quote from a novel by Noval Takemoto.
This fic is rated M!  Mature content alert!!!
FFn link --> https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13654523/1/The-Cocoro-of-Rococo
---------------
"At last, Shego!"
The green-skinned villainess looked up from her magazine with a grimace. She'd been hoping this one would blow up in his face before the "at last" rant.
"My modifications to the trans-dimensional vortex inducer are complete! We can now travel into a cable TV program and steal the fictional technology and bring it back into the real world!" Drakken cried, raising his fists triumphantly.
Shego closed her magazine with a sigh and uncrossed her legs as she tossed it aside. She recognized his single-minded determination as well as she recognized her own disdain for plans that relied on experimental technology. But there would be no dissuading him.
"And you can take objects out of a TV show, how?" she asked as she approached him where he was grinning over the cables connecting his device.
"With this!" Drakken said, holding up a separate small device that looked to Shego's eye, like an old dustbuster. "My new matter re-organizer will enable us to bring back whatever we want! And I have my sights set on the technology from Space Passage. Weapons...travel...medicine...revolutionized!"
"Uh-huh... And how do you know it won't come back as stage props?"
Drakken's fierce grin was unshakeable, and he only tutted at her as they both moved to stand in front of the larger device. "Oh ye of little faith! This plan is fool-proof!"
Shego gave him a look. For the first time his expression faltered, but only slightly.
"Well...what's wrong with the plan?" he asked seriously, staring at her.
"Other than it being untested and you don't know if your new device will work? What about last time when we just bounced around to different shows?"
"I have solved that problem as well!" Drakken said, his grin returning in full. He picked up the TV remote and pointed it at the television brought to the lab, turning it on. "I discovered that the problem before was simply that there wasn't any program running when we went into the TV. Now, as long as we choose our program beforehand, we'll stay in one show!"
Shego couldn't help but smirk at his enthusiasm as he flipped the channels until finding Space Passage. The plan was untried and absurd to the highest degree. Removing all the water from the Great Lakes was a better idea in her opinion, simply because there was less personal risk. But after four years, she knew there was no changing his mind...
"All right, Jack Paar," Shego said, sidling up to him and setting her hand on his shoulder as he stared at the flashing images on the screen. He glanced at her with a raised brow, the reference going over his head. She only grinned. "So what are we stealing first? We can't come back with everything on the first try. And won't the characters fight back?"
"They won't need to," a familiar voice from somewhere above spoke. Both Drakken and Shego whirled around to see Kim Possible crouched in an upper window of the lair. "Because you're not activating that device."
"Kim Possible!?" Drakken gasped.
Kim shot her grappler into the opposite wall where it anchored, and in a flash she was zip-lining down the cable straight toward them, followed by her side-kick-turned-boyfriend and his pet rodent on their own zip-lines.
"Are you really surprised?" Shego asked, giving Drakken a sideways glance as she ignited her hands and began firing at the intruders.
Kim leapt off the zip-line and headed straight toward Shego, leg cocked and ready to kick. The villainess's resulting distraction meant she only heard Drakken's annoyed grunt as Ron Stoppable crashed into him, sending the two of them sprawling.
"Aren't you supposed to be away at college?" Shego said through a grunt as she shook off the pain from the adult teen's attack.
"Not when Drakken is stealing the pan-dimensional vortex inducer. For the third time."
Shego kicked out fiercely before lunging forward with her glowing hands, swinging punches that caused the red-haired heroine to hop back and away.
"Can't you just get on with your own life and stop messing with ours?" Shego responded with a grunt when Kim was far enough away that she could take a breath.
"When the two of you are still plotting world domination? As if!" Kim retorted, lunging forward and throwing a double kick combo that Shego had to back-handspring to avoid.
"Who says we're trying to take over the world?" Shego grunted as she fired a blast of distraction before leaping forward with another kick.
Kim grabbed Shego's ankle and yanked in an uncharacteristic act of violence. The green woman gasped and fell forward, almost crashing into the teen before hitting her back hard in the chest with glowing hands as she fell, causing the red-head to let go.
Both women stumbled for a moment as they regained their balance, turning with looks of menace. But their combat was halted by a frantic shout from Ron.
"No, no, no, Kim help!" he wailed.
Shego looked at where Drakken and Ron, in a tangle of limbs, had bumped into the device Drakken had built to connect the trans-dimensional vortex inducer to the television. The device was active and the beam had begun to surround the pair.
The naked mole-rat was at their feet, hopping and squealing in anxiety. Shego gasped as the creature hopped directly onto the fallen TV remote and watched as the channel changed...and Drakken's and Ron's forms wobbled and then were sucked into the portal that appeared in front of the screen, soon followed by the mole-rat that had unwittingly changed their plans.
Shego snarled and ran past Kim, grabbing Drakken's matter re-organizer and jumping directly into the portal. If the teen followed or not, she didn't care. And as she felt herself begin the tingling transformation into whatever form of matter they were inside the TV, she hoped that Drakken's plan also included a way back out of the world of cable...
Drakken felt a bump as his rear impacted something hard, and then he opened his eyes. He was sitting on a polished floor of some sort of stone tiling. He blinked and lifted his eyes to the rest of his surroundings. He was in a broad hallway, and both walls where white and adorned in intricate filigree and what appeared to be murals painted directly onto the wall. Every five feet or so was a small statue on a pedestal, and as he continued his survey he found the ceiling was decorated with even more filigree and intricate moulding. Paintings covered the entire ceiling, and a distance down the hall hung a candelabra chandelier that provided the only dim lighting.
Drakken pushed himself off the ground and then gasped as he took in his own clothing. He wore a heavy dark blue coat that was embroidered all the way down the front and the hem. It was so long it was practically a cape, and it had massive, broad sleeves that folded over up to his elbows, also with the ornate, gold embroidery. Beneath the coat was a waistcoat of the same blue, but a lighter material, and a black shirt with some sort of ruffly yet silken black cravat at his throat.
His pants were the same rich dark blue, but they were extremely tight, such to the point that he was glad the waistcoat fell down far below his belt. The pants also stopped at the knee, where black stockings were pinned up beneath them and he wore black heeled shoes that were clearly from a bygone era. The entire ensemble was from a bygone era.
His hair, thankfully, was largely unchanged. Though when he rain his hand back over it the pieces he usually let stick up freely in the front had been slicked down. He hoped it wouldn't be too hard to clean when they got back.
"Shego?" he called loudly. His voice echoed down the hall with its rich, tiled floor until it evaporated into silence. He sighed and began walking, to his right, because it happened to be the direction he was mostly facing.
"This isn't Space Passage..."
Shego grumbled to herself as she picked her way down the stone hall. She had kicked off her pink heeled shoes after the first five minutes of trying to navigate the maze, so the echo of their clopping was gone. Now the only sound was the rustling of a skirt so massive she was sure she must be wearing two or three dresses at once.
The gown was dark green, the fabric heavy, thick, and shiny, and it fell in more tiered layers than she cared to count. It was a full skirt with some sort of support structure beneath it, but that was little help in allowing her to travel easily for the bulk of the gown. Each tier of the skirt was lined with large, pink roses made of another fabric and sewn on, complete with vines and leaves connecting them. Up the front of the bodice was a pink lacing that was almost hidden for the massive ruffles that fell from the large pink bow at the center of her cleavage. The tight green sleeves that fell to her elbow were likewise adorned with massive pink bows and lace that fell to her forearms, tickling her bare skin. The neckline of the gown was far lower than anything she had ever worn, and it was also broad and ever so slightly off the shoulder. It was also lined in the soft, pink roses.
Her hair, thankfully, seemed to have avoided a full transformation into whatever historical program the rodent had unwittingly sent them to. The strands framing her face were pulled back with a pink ribbon, tied in a large bow high at the back of her head. Her hair had been curled into large ringlets, but was so heavy that it couldn't maintain its shape and was already cascading down her back in twisted black waves. Within the waves were woven more pink ribbons, with real roses affixed to them that perfumed the air around her head with a sweet smell that was mildly distracting. Shego was glad that keeping her hair back was at least one thing she didn't have to worry about as she tried to navigate the confusing program.
As she continued down the broad hallway, she tripped on one of her skirts and nearly fell. She snarled and ignited her hands with the intent to just burn the heavy layers away, but stopped as the soft echo of footfalls began to approach. Shego held her glowing hands up and away from her skirts and froze. If the approaching person was Kim Possible or the side-kick...she'd show them exactly what she thought of their interference. And she'd need a good shot, due to the restricting clothing.
Just because Drakken had outsourced the pan-dimensional vortex inducer and they were going to use it steal fictional future technology of world-altering importance...didn't mean they were using it for world domination. In fact, the plan was to patent and sell all the technology and retire in luxury. It was a different way of ruling the world...but really, rule it they would. Legally. They were even planning to return the outsourced tech. That device would mean nothing, after all, once their future tech was out there.
As luck would have it, it wasn't red or blond hair that rounded the corner, but black. Drakken startled slightly at the sight of her, but then sighed in relief. He opened his mouth to speak, but then his breath caught. Shego raised an eyebrow as he stared at her, slack-jawed.
"What?" she asked as she let her glow go out, slowly dropping her hands to rest over her skirts and shifting her weight to one foot.
"You look...you look..." Drakken stammered.
Shego glanced down at her dress again, nervously pulling a lock of hair complete with woven roses over her shoulder. All she had really noticed before was the inconvenience, but, the design was nice enough for whatever historical period they were stuck in. And the dark green and pink did look nice against her skin.
She looked up at Drakken and really looked at his attire for the first time. His coat, while not tailored at the waist, was so long that it fairly flowed like a cape from his broad shoulders where it was perfectly cut. Her eyes moved from the hem of the coat up his legs, where the pants were so tight they may as well have been painted on. Her brow furrowed in annoyance when her gaze reached the hem of the waistcoat, which fell almost to the middle of his thighs.
She looked up at his face again, which was coloring dark with a blush. He lifted a hand and tugged at his collar and cleared his throat. Shego suddenly found her heart racing, and her hands began anxiously fiddling with the ends of her hair.
Drakken looked around suddenly, his head turning in every direction, until he spotted a door in the wall just behind and across from him. It was easy to miss, as it was decorated with the same elegance and intricacy as the rest of the walls. He crossed to it, pushed the door in and stuck his head inside, and then looked back out.
"Come on," he said, extending a hand to her.
Shego blinked and nervously stepped forward. Why was she nervous? He was grinning with anxious excitement when she set her hand in his, and she peered around him into the room and observed the centuries-old furniture.
"It's just an old bedroom— Whoa!" she said as Drakken pulled her quickly into the room, closing the door behind them.
Kim held her pink and yellow Rococo skirts high as she traipsed through the halls, looking for any sign of Ron or Drakken and Shego. Her dress had been unfortunately damaged in her fight with the castle guards upon her arrival in what was obviously the movie The Swordsman Three, and she was wondering why she hadn't yet jumped to a new channel. Since she hadn't, the likelihood was that the others were trapped in the same movie, but she had yet to find them.
Just then, a familiar voice sounded from behind a wall somewhere to her left. But the voice was uncharacteristically giggling. Kim frowned and followed the sound until she reached a door. She was about to kick it in and continue the fight that Drakken's device had interrupted, when she heard said man whine.
"Shegooo," the mad scientist said, sounding annoyed and impatient to Kim's ear. And Shego's giggling continued from within the room.
Kim weighed her options for a moment, until finally she scoffed at herself and cautiously turned the doorknob, making no sound as she pushed the door in ever-so slightly and peered into the candlelit room.
Shego was standing at the foot of a four-poster canopy bed in an elaborate green and pink Rococo gown and holding a pink fan in her hand, fanning her face with it as she giggled at something on the other side of the room. Kim watched as she cleared her throat and tried to calm down from whatever had amused her.
"Fine, fine, I'm okay," she said through her giggling.
"Nrgh... Shego, if you don't—" Drakken said from somewhere in the room Kim couldn't see.
"No, I've got it. Gimme a sec."
Kim watched then as Shego schooled her features with effort, until gone was the flushed expression of laughter. Instead her eyes became dark, almost fearful, but danced with excitement. She straightened up and stuck out her chest a bit as she brought the fan lower, drawing attention to her very exposed bosom.
"Oh, but my lord," Shego said in a surprisingly convincing tone of worry, though she also didn't sound entirely opposed to whatever question she was responding to. "Such things are forbidden!"
Drakken's voice came from somewhere out of sight, dark and commanding. "I am a very powerful man. I can get you anything you desire. As long as...my desires are also fulfilled."
Shego closed the fan and dropped it behind her on the bed. The corner of her mouth quirked upward, but she visibly bit the inside of her cheek to stop it. "And if...my desire is half your wealth?"
Kim's heart was pounding and she was about to close the door when Drakken stepped into view. His grin was wicked and his posture confident as he slowly approached Shego.
"That could be arranged. But it would depend on...how well you perform for me in...various tasks."
Shego's chest heaved as he got closer. "And...which task shall I perform first?"
"Unlace your bodice."
Kim closed the door as silently as she could and then ran back down the hall. She tripped over her skirt and fell just before reaching the corner, and once on the ground she simply gathered up her dress and leaned back against the wall, trying to calm her shaking.
That...was not what she had thought Drakken and Shego were going to use the pan-dimensional vortex inducer for.
"I tell ya, buddy," Ron said to Rufus, perched on his shoulder, "I have never had more love for boxer shorts than I do today."
The naked mole-rat concurred with a nod as Ron walked the maze of halls in his red and black musketeer's attire, a sword at his side that he had to keep one hand on to keep the scabbard from dragging the floor. When they rounded the corner Ron stopped short as he saw Kim sitting at the opposite end of the hallway, her arms wrapped around her drawn-up knees with her rather tattered skirts surrounding her. She had her head leaned back against the wall and looked very upset.
"Kim!" Ron cried as he ran toward her.
"Shh!" Kim hissed urgently, struggling to her feet and waving him to stop with her hands.
Ron stopped short as he assessed her and tried to make sense of her words. "Are you hurt? Where are Drakken and Shego?"
"No, I'm fine. They're in there," Kim said, pointing to the door Ron had stopped next to. "But— Ron, no!"
Ron was already turning the knob and pushed the door in without a thought. His eyes widened as Rufus let out an alarmed squeal from his shoulder.
A large bed. And on it, dark green skirts and pink stocking-clad knees surrounding a pale blue butt that was thrusting up and down, with tight, dark blue pants pulled down to mid-thigh.
"Ohhh hohohoho no, Kim!" Ron shouted.
He caught a glimpse of green breasts, a terrified green face, and a blue face that seemed to be all mouth as it screamed something at him. He closed his eyes as he turned away rapidly.
"Kim! My eyes, I can't see!" Ron cried, running toward her with his hands in the air as he flailed in panic, eyes tightly closed.
"Ron! I told you not to open the door!"
Green glowing blasts came at them in rapid succession through the door, intermixed with feral feminine shrieks and incoherent masculine shouting that may or may not have contained real words. Ron felt Kim grab his hand as they ran down the hallway, around the corner, and didn't stop until Kim tripped over her skirts and they were forced to pause.
"Kim! Kim! I saw...I saw—"
"I...don't really want to hear it Ron," Kim said. She was painfully sympathetic but also very afraid of what Ron might say.
Ron dropped his head onto Kim's shoulder while Rufus sat almost camouflaged on Kim's pink skirt, scrubbing at his eyes.
"Guess they weren't plotting world domination this time after all," Kim finally sighed.
They sat for a long moment catching their breath, occasionally looking at each other and grimacing. But Ron suddenly remembered something.
"KP... How are we gonna get back? Wade's on that family vacation."
Kim's eyes widened. She thought for a moment and finally frowned in agony.
"I guess...there's only one thing we can do."
A long while later, Drakken unlocked the bedroom door and poked his face cautiously through the small crack he'd made. He peered to the left and right down the empty halls as he tied his hair back with a dark blue ribbon.
"Is the coast clear?" Shego asked, still attempting to tie up her bodice.
Drakken was about to answer when he saw a small piece of paper folded on the ground right in front of the door. He frowned and picked it up.
"What's that?" Shego asked.
Drakken unfolded the paper and read the note aloud.
"We're sorry we walked in on you. We promise never to speak of this again, but we need your help to get home. We're exploring the castle. Come find us when you're done."
"When we're done?" Shego snarled, hurling her pink ribbon down in frustration.
Drakken turned back to look at her, and the furrow in his brow suddenly faded into something thoughtful and a bit devious.
"What?" Shego asked, leaning back on her hands with a sigh.
"They said, 'when we're done'..." he answered, waving the note in the air.
"Yeah, so?"
Drakken's cheeks colored and he cleared his throat, his gaze falling pointedly to her half-covered chest.
Shego's jaw worked silently in shock for a moment, but then she smirked. "It would serve them right, having to wait longer."
Drakken grinned and tossed the note to the ground, closing and locking the door.
"So what does my lord wish on this fine evening?" Shego asked.

Therefore, check out and get a good touchpad that will supports multi-touch gestures. Working method (OS) Netbooks are usually accessible intended for Linux together with Windows running systems and new netbook computers have moved to Windows 7 Starter, which is usually a lighter edition regarding Windows 7 to assist with load some total performance. As we just about all know about home windows mainly because that most people are usually acquainted with the Windows format as they have been making it for several many years on their home in addition to business computers. You will be able to also get a mini netbook with Linux, which is definitely a much more basic in addition to faster managing technique. Right here you will need to go for the latest technological innovation because they happen to be available with more performance and try not to be able to buy an old mini netbook computer because you can confront problem of speed together with efficiency. The latest Atom processor on netbooks with regard to 2010 is definitely Intel Atom N450 Cpu (1. 66 GHz). Many netbooks introduced into the marketplaces keep going year had been Intel Atom N270 or maybe N280 that are being replaced by brand new Intel Atom N450. You can notice that all processors with netbooks are sluggish than the standard brand on netbooks, which is regarding 2. just one GHz. This specific means that a minilaptop will be slower when jogging heavier programs. So, you mustn't use a netbook for serious processing, many of these as photo/video editing and enhancing in addition to gaming. Having said that, laptops are perfect for light functions like web surfing, email address, and even word processing. Battery pack Life Outdated notebook electric batteries usually come having 3-cell (less than 35 Wh) units nonetheless achievable mini netbooks, they have upped their very own standard batteries to 6-cell systems which can have you unplugged for with regards to 6-9 hours although 3-cell methods usually find involving 1 and a few several hours of endurance. These are definitely little costly than 3-cell power supply netbooks but can be very useful if your activities entail overseas travel as well as all-day classes. After Intel features unveiled new Atom N450 processor, new netbook computers may consume less electric power about 20% over past netbook computer generation (e. gary the gadget guy. Intel Atom N270, N280). Fresh latest netbooks are usually coming with electric battery life connected with 10-14 time such as models Asus Eee PERSONAL COMPUTER 1005PE-P, Asus Eee PC 100P, Acer A0532h plus Toshiba Mini NB305-N410 (10-inch screen). Memory space (RAM) The majority of of netbooks consist of 1 GB and are up to 2GB. Storage capacity There are 2 sorts of harddrives; solid-state pushes (SSDs) and even spinning really hard disk drives (HDDs). Typically the SSDs are faster and much more durable than HDDs and consume less power and even weigh less. The memory space of SSDs is certainly not sufficient for netbooks for the reason that of the higher price. Typically the early model Eee Computer systems have only 4GB or even 8GB SSD, and often the more modern model Eee PERSONAL COMPUTER 1 000 uses a 40GB SSD. Nearly all netbooks can be equipped with the HDDs which have the storage space potential from 60GB to help 320 GB. Look for some sort of hard drive that comes with the capacity of with least 160GB and a good rotating speed associated with some, 300 rpm. Optic Commute Netbooks do not consist of built-in optical drives regarding playing movies. That signifies you won't run CDs/DVDs. On the other hand, you may buy a separate commute to connector into the netbook or use another pc to "rip the DVD" to a film file that you are able to transfer using a USB generate or outside hard push, but part of it is portability and light weight is caused by that not getting an optical drive. For example, the Asus Eee DESKTOP 1005PE-P with the most recent Intel Atom N450 brand and even 14 hours connected with battery-life is currently the best selling minilaptop about Amazon. com for $368. 59 and the Asus Eee PC 100P using 11 hours of battery life is cheaper and market for $299. 99-$339. 99 (10" screen). Higher-end options are becoming more predominant, using 11. 6-inch shows, larger screen resolutions, plus brand-new graphics hardware, for example , Nvidia's Ion GPU employed in Asus Eee PC 1201N (12" screen).

Top Sql Interview Questions And Responses
It offers its own query language (Hibernate Inquiry Language/ HQL) that fills out where SQL fails when handling items. Candidates are nearly assured to be asked a series of inquiries related to a acquiring data from a supplied set of tables. It is a collection of schemas, tables, procedures, code functions, and also various other objects. Different query languages are utilized to gain access to and also adjust information. In SQL Web server, a table is an item that stores information in a tabular kind. Here is a checklist of the most prominent SQL Server interview inquiries and also their answers with thorough explanations and SQL query examples. MERGE statement is utilized to integrate insert, erase and also update operations into one declaration. A Trigger is a Data source object similar to a kept treatment or we can state it is a special kind of Stored Procedure which fires when an event takes place in a database. It is a data source item that is bound to a table and is implemented automatically. Triggers give information honesty as well as used to accessibility and check information before as well as after modification utilizing DDL or DML query. Normalization is the procedure of organizing data into a related table. It also gets rid of redundancy as well as increases stability which improves the efficiency of the query. To stabilize a data source, we separate the data source right into tables and develop connections in between the tables. Several columns can join the main trick. The primary secret is the column or set of columns utilized to distinctly recognize the products in a table. A international secret is utilized to distinctively determine the items in a different table, enabling sign up with procedures to happen. An Index is an optional structure related to a table. It is made use of to accessibility rows directly as well as can be created to raise the efficiency of information retrieval. The index can be developed on one or more columns of a table. DML enables you to collaborate with the information that enters into the data source. It is additionally utilized to synchronize two tables and make the adjustments in one table based on worths matched from one more. SQL stipulation is used to filter some rows from the whole collection of records with the help of different conditional statements. A version is a container for all things that define the structure of the master data. A design consists of at the very least one entity, which is comparable to a table in a relational database. An entity contains participants, which resemble the rows in a table, as shown in Figure 7-1. Members are the master information that you are taking care of in MDS. Each leaf participant of the entity has multiple characteristics, which represent table columns in the example. Now to develop 3 tables in the Master data source called Table1, Table2, as well as Table3. Information Control Language commands adjust data saved in items like tables, views and so forth. Or else, all documents in the table will certainly be updated. But you can not start until the called for example information is not in position. The one-of-a-kind secret is the team of one or more areas or columns that distinctively identifies the data source document. The unique secret coincides as a main essential however it approves the void worth. Although it isn't clearly essential to recognize the internal functions of data sources, it assists to have a high level understanding of standard ideas in Data sources and also Systems. Data sources refers not to particular ones yet more so how they run at a high degree and also what style decisions and also compromises are made throughout construction as well as inquiring. " Solutions" is a wide term but describes any collection of structures or tools whereby evaluation of huge quantities of data relies on. You can take a look at the tables below that we've offered technique. So first of all, you need to develop the examination information in your database software application. But the solution to such concerns from SQL interviews ought to be more in-depth. Clear up later UPDATEwhich documents should be updated. For example, a usual interview topic is the MapReduce structure which is greatly used at lots of business for parallel processing of big datasets. The CREATE TABLE statement is used to create a brand-new table in a data source. It is an vital command when developing brand-new database. A stabilized database is usually composed of numerous tables. Joins are, for that reason, required to query throughout multiple tables. The UPDATE statement is used to customize the existing documents in a table as well as is just one of one of the most pre-owned operations for dealing with the data source. Hibernate is an object-relational mapping library that takes Java things and also maps them into relational database tables. So, an SQL join is a device that allows you to build a partnership in between objects in your database. As a result, a sign up with shows a outcome collection consisting of areas derived from two or more tables. SQL is an acronym for Structured Query Language. It is a programs language especially made for working with data sources. An internal join is when you integrate rows from 2 tables as well as produce a result collection based upon the predicate, or joining problem. The internal join only returns rows when it finds a match in both tables. An external join will certainly additionally return unrivaled rows from one table if it is a single external sign up with, or both tables if it is a complete outer sign up with. With the help of these commands, you can conveniently change, insert as well as erase your information. Using these commands, you can develop any items like tables, sights, databases, causes, and so on. An index is a data source object that is created and maintained by the DBMS. Indexed columns are bought or sorted to make sure that information looking is extremely quick. An index can be put on a column or a sight. The clustered index specifies the order in which data is literally kept in a database table as well as made use of for simple retrieval by modifying the manner in which the records are stored. As the name indicates, sign up with is the name of incorporating columns from one or several tables by using common values per. Whenever the signs up with are utilized, the tricks play a vital role. DML is used to place, choose, update, and erase records in the data source. The driver is UPDATEused to customize existing documents. The MERGE declaration permits conditional upgrade or insertion of information into a database table. It executes an UPDATE if the rows exists, or an INSERT if the row does not exist. https://geekinterview.net
Tumblr media
You can try placing values to go against these problems as well as see what takes place. Several columns can participate in the primary crucial column. After that the individuality is thought about among all the individual columns by combining their worths. Most tasks in MDS revolve around models as well as the objects they consist of. A strong instance of this will plainly show the distinction and also show just how well the programmer recognizes signs up with. With more business depending on huge data analytics than in the past, employees with strong SQL abilities are very searched for. SQL is utilized in several tasks such as business analysts, software application designer, systems managers, data scientists, and a lot more. Currently, this column does not permit void worths and duplicate values.

Soldier Game: Operation LA Smile
NicoMaki, Love Live, 5.2K, 1/?
Summary: Soldier Game is called in to protect a team of fashion designers who have been assigned to smuggle scientific data into a hostile United States. Working as models requires a new skillset and Nishikino Maki's first encounter with Yazawa Nico explodes with tension.
ROUND ONE
Sprawling government complex. Full of busy offices, tracking numbers and citizens, calls and meetings being held in a variety of languages. Competent, concerned, efficient bustle. Take a left at the Innovation For A Cool Earth Liaison office, down a very quiet hallway, and take an elevator to the second floor, where the lights were lower, and noises of grunting and bodies falling could be heard. Third door to the right was slightly ajar and inside, Tojo Nozomi, long purple hued hair in a very professional ponytail, had printouts spread all over her desk. And the latest fashion magazines in a row at the top like a barricade. And on her very very secure government issue but Nozomi tweaked to make it even more secure laptop the message from RiceQueen, pleading for help biohacking a prophylactic treatment for the coronavirus. Nozomi’s supervisor stared at her from the doorway.
“Come inside and close the door.” Nozomi shut her laptop, “I’ve read through all the files you had forwarded..
The Deputy Minister nodded and shut and locked the door. “And your conclusion?”
“I think we should go through artistic channels rather than our usual operatives.” Nozomi waved at the chair opposite her.
“What do you mean?”
Nozomi slid a magazine toward the Deputy Minister, open to a page with the latest collection from FeatherSmile Designs. Intricately woven graphene fabric that lit up with neon kanji. “We would have to upgrade their tech, but I think they could carry the message effectively.”
“But they’re not agents. We’d be putting civilians at risk.”
“We give them minimal details and protection. I’d need Soldier Game.”
The Deputy Minister nodded. “They’ve been on standby for months so that wouldn’t be a problem.”
Nozomi glanced at her laptop. “I’ve built a personal relationship with our US contact. I’d like to be involved.”
“That’s unusual.” A tilt back in the chair. Nozomi was starting to lose her audience.
“She’s very skittish.”
“It is difficult to get US visas.”
“For a mini movie in LA? The Governor has negotiated higher threshholds for funded projects. Here’s my plan.” Nozomi handed over a folder that had been marking a particular fashion spread. “We bring FeatherSmile in under the cover of assisting with increasing the positive response to Japanese businesses and citizens. I have a contact in California we’ve used before, Kousaka Honoka.”
The Deputy Minister read the plan over, “Bold thinking, Tojo. May be useful on several fronts. I’m impressed.”
Praise for the obvious wasn’t something Nozomi wasted time over. “People are dying, ma’am. Ignorance and bigotry are on the rise. And someone has asked us for help.”
“So what’s our first step?”
“Contact Yazawa Nico and Minami Kotori. Bring them in. And inform Soldier Game of their new assignment. I’d like to see them on some photoshoots now, rolled out over the next two weeks in separate locations. Maybe one of them vacationing in the middle of celebrities. Send Nishikino for that. She’s got the status.”
The Deputy Minister typed quickly into her phone, “Anything else.”
“I’ll be taking my driver.”
“Of course.”
“I have a list of gear we’ll be needing. I’ll put Sonoda on that and let Rin assist.”
“Then I’ll put Ayase and Nishikino in the field this week while Sonoda preps.”
“Perfect.” Everything on Nozomi’s list had been checked off. Now to talk to the tech team about upgrading FeatherSmile’s textile output.

Nishikino Maki, bright red hair under a floppy straw hat, stretched out on the chaise, her book next to her, the sun hot against the skin exposed by her bikini. And then the waiter’s shadow blocked her light. She tipped up the hat, with a snarl, “Just leave it on the table.”
The waiter nodded, placing the tall glass. Maki held up a finger to keep the waiter’s attention, reached over, picked up the glass, and sipped.
“Too salty.’ Maki spat in the sand. A murmur of horror rippled down the row of seats. “Take it back. Tell your master mixologist that Bloody Marys should let the tomato juice shine.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“And you’d better be back here before I finish this chapter.” Maki picked up her book and took her sunglasses off, “Management fires my least favorite employee each and every day. Survival of the fittest.” Maki winked. “Or the cutest.”
Next to Maki, a banking dynasty scion fresh from the London School of Economics rolled her eyes at the vapidness of the idle rich. Nishikino had landed in Hawai’i last Thursday and by the weekend had been spoken of in terror by hotel staff members all across the Big Island.
 ###
Ayase Eli, blond hair in a tight bun, stretched, laying back across the barre, smiling at the smaller woman waiting next to her. “It’s been too long since I’ve had a job with a full dance studio.”
“Oh, are you a dancer?”
“Trained in Russia.” Eli’s tone was polite enough but something in the icy blue of her eyes encouraged the other woman to shuffle farther down the barre. Eli did another perfect move, “It’s great that dance is having such a strong surge. I’m hoping to get a job on a movie in LA or something.”
“Oh, that’d be cool. It’s hard to get work in the US now, with their strict visa limits.” The smaller dancer moved from first to third position.
Eli leaned forward, relaxing, watching herself in the mirror, “But haven’t you always dreamed about Hollywood?”
“Who hasn’t?” The other dancer dropped into a full plie.
###
Sonoda Umi had the supply list memorized, with her own additions. Soldier Game had their own preferences. Dressed in a simple black pantsuit, light blue shirt, gun holster hidden, Umi swiped the pattern that opened the door for her. A clerk greeted her.
“Sonoda-san.”
Umi glanced at the nametag, “Fujioka-san. Please inform Tojo-san that I will meet her driver in the Armory.”
A bow and Umi moved through the checkpoint. That was one of Umi’s favorite things about having to work from Headquarters. There were no unnecessary conversations, everyone prided themselves on efficiency and detachment, Umi felt not at home, but at work. Which was one of Umi’s more productive places. And Umi’s productive places were Umi’s happy places.
###
Yazawa Nico swivelled her chair, forcing her eyes away from the multiple screens in front of her. “Nico knows the computer’s doing most of the work, but…” Nico shook her head, “This much information is making Nico’s brain hurt.”
Minami Kotori, in a custom made Rumi Rock yukata, was pinning fabric to a dressmaker’s dummy. “Take a break. We can finish programming the looms later.”
“Nah.” Nico shook herself, slapping her face, “Sooner we get it done, sooner we can cut the garments. Did we get the model measurements?”
Kotori nodded, “All the details. Did you see the pictures?”
Nico closed her eyes, yes, she’d seen the pictures, but how do you...then Kotori interrupted her with a giggle, “I’ve been having the most...exquisite dreams.”
Nico decided a change of topic was her best strategy before Kotori breached TMI territory.
“Anything we make will drape well.”
“And practically drip off.” Kotori giggled.
Nico refused to be lured to after hours chatter. “I think the redhead would look great in that lilac twisted tweed you showed me.”
“Ooohh, it would really bring out the lavender in her eyes. Tweeds will also easily disguise any patterning.”
“Yeah, if we use the free color slot to match their individual eye colors…”
“Oh, I can see it,” Kotori stepped over to her drafting table, swift strokes creating three almost capes, Nico guessed from her distant, odd angle.
“So we’re going with a Fall/Winter book?”
“Would you rather see them model bikinis?” Kotori asked wistfully.
Nico dropped her head to her clasped hands, exhaling. What the hell kind of trap question was that to ask a respectful, modern woman so so gay she can’t stop thinking about her new co workers playing nude beach volleyball? There was no safe answer.
“This is so much flashier and more complicated than our usual drop jobs. Can’t we just…” Nico really needed a steady girlfriend so she wouldn’t get preoccupied by random curves.
Kotori frowned, she’d had a late night conversation with their international headquarters. “Command thinks this ask is a mole trying to get information about our operations.”
“Damn. So flashy it is. All personality. Nico nico ni.” Nico, hands raised to her temple, smiled, then sighed, shrewd glance meeting her partner’s.
“Yeah.” Kotori bit the air.
New information absorbed and back on task, Nico considered the juxtaposition of life saving science and sexy swimsuits. Too distracting. But then again, no one would believe it was about anything but pretty women in pretty clothing. Everyone underestimated pretty women. And none of the models were shy about their assets, from the pics Nico had seen.
“Bikinis. Nico just thinks no one will notice the thin pinstripes are actually graphene circuits if they have those models to look at.” Plus, if Soldier Game was investigating them, that little fabric would make guns or recording devices harder to conceal.
Kotori raised an eyebrow at Nico, “You always have the best ideas, Nico.” A few quick adjustments with her pencil and the capes become beach covers, in linen, not tweed, “Ready to wear, on demand we are. With reclaimed fabric. Eco friendly.”
“Eco sexy.” Nico snapped her fingers.
“Sexy sexy” Kotori giggled.
Nico decided a mutual review of their corporate sexual harassment policy was a very necessary next step.
###
Umi stopped, pivoted on her heel and glared over packed duffle bags at the short, energetic ginger haired woman bouncing down the hall after her.
“Let me help, Sonoda-chan.”
“Everything is wrong with that.” Umi stated through gritted teeth.
The ginger shrugged, mischief flicking in chartreuse eyes, “You won’t let me call you Umi-chan.”
“Hoshizora-san.” Umi stated deliberately, as an example, “Perhaps I could speak to your direct report.”
“Nozomi-chan? Oh sure, she always loves it when I stop by her office. She’ll have tea ready and we can talk about what I found out about…”
Umi stopped the spread of information as quickly as she could. “Where is Tojo-san’s office?”
“Right this way.” Hoshizora sped down the hall. Umi briefly wondered if the cat like gimmicky gestures were the actual result of some kind of genetic experiment with cheetahs, but surely there would have been more rumors. Hoshizora skipped -- skipped?!?!?! -- through a door and Umi increased her pace to catch up. Pausing, she knocked, but the door was ripped open, the mini cheetah hybrid speaking to someone inside, “Sonoda-chan wants to see you, Nozomi-chan. She doesn’t like…”
Umi stepped inside the room, stern. “I can speak for myself.”
Tojo was dressed appropriately for the office, in a dark suit, unlike her driver’s Nadeshiko Japan soccer jersey and jean shorts, exuded polite propriety. “Please take a seat, Sonoda-san. How can I help you?”
Hoshizora slid into the chair behind the desk, “Sonoda-chan” Hoshizora winked, “objects to my “‘overt familiarity and lack of respect.””
Nozomi had a slight smile that bordered on a smirk. Umi adjusted her initial impression. She was beginning to suspect that this division was not run to military specs. Nozomi’s voice was a giggly, syrupy mess with hints of rural accent, “Now, now, Lt. Commander, I’m sure you are aware that you will be undercover beginning tomorrow.”
“Of course. I read the dossier.” Umi started to prickle.
“So why do you object to my assistant following my orders that you be eased into a non military environment by ignoring a strict hierarchy.”
Hoshizora, Rin, Umi corrected herself, was rocking the chair back and forth, silently laughing. Umi cleared her throat, “I was not aware those were...Rin’s orders.”
Rin leaned forward, eyes wide, sticking out her tongue.
“Are you going to be aware of everything happening on this mission?” Nozomi asked quickly.
If I can be, Umi’s head went, but she just shook her head in lieu of a verbal reply.
“So, as you are temporarily under my command, you should be aware that I find keeping my charges in a state where they are continually alert leads to the most successful missions. Perhaps not as planned as what you are used to from your time with the Defense Forces, but our skillset needs to be more flexible.” Nozomi tilted her head, almost coquettishly, “Do you understand, Lt. Commander?”
“Of course.” Umi stood at attention, her eyes locking on Rin’s, “Umi will be fine from now on, Rin-san.”
“Rin.”
“Rin.” Umi grinned. Deliberately.
“Good.” Nozomi leaned back against her desk, relaxed, Rin spinning in the desk chair. “And call me Nozomi. Tomorrow, we meet Yazawa and Minami and we need to have our covers locked down.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Nope.” Rin giggled. “You’re slow.
Umi bowed. “My apologies, Nozomi. I won’t let you down.”
“I know you won’t. It’s why I requested your unit.”
Umi hadn’t been aware that the assignment had been an outside request. She’d been too eager to return to the field, even if it involved rather shameless activities. She made a mental note to pay more attention to details. And to cultivate Rin’s acquaintance. She seemed like the detail spilling sort.
“Where’s the tea, Nozomi-chan?” Rin rolled the chair to the credenza under the window.
“Why don’t you take Umi-chan down to the canteen and tell her about our last job.”
“Ooh, that’s a great idea. C’mon Umi, I’ll race you.” And Rin was out the door.
Umi glanced at Nozomi, who shrugged, “Better sprint.”
Umi sighed. So this was a test of physical as well as mental acuity. Fortunately, she had a route to take from here that would be a short cut. Umi headed to the window, raised it and dropped down two stories to the courtyard.
“Unexpected.” Nozomi watched as Umi landed lightly, then raced diagonally toward the kitchen’s loading doors. “Interesting.”
###
Maki Nishikino had never been subject to so much scrutiny. Especially while in this little clothing. The interest in the narrowed ruby eyes was clinical and the fingers that reached out to adjust the bow at her breast were disturbingly impersonal. She reverted to a childhood habit and wrapped her arms around her torso, stepping away from this Yazawa person with a frown.
“This one can’t seem to smile…” “Maki.” Maki snapped and Yazawa raised an eyebrow. “Call me Maki.”
“Maki.” Yazawa bit off every syllable, “doesn’t seem to get sunny or smiling so we’ll have to go for moody sexy on the shoot.” Yazawa stepped back, hands on hips, eyes still roving over Maki’s body in a way that made Maki feel like she was wearing even less. “So either slightly less fabric or a lot more.” “I can smile.” Maki bared her teeth at her antagonist.
Nico shook her head, relaxed her lips in a smile that somehow seemed to make the air glow around her, then called back casually over her shoulder, “Less clothing, maybe lose the top, lots of mood lighting, a fabric that will shimmer. Make a note for the photographer. Cool, wet mystery.”
Maki would have choked when Nico said wet with a smack of her lips but she was fortunately not drinking anything, just reaching out her hand for the water bottle
Now the other designer, Kotori was staring at Maki with speculative, measuring eyes, “Yes, I see what you mean, Nico. Maybe something that looks like washed up on a rocky shore.” “Mermaid? Hmmmm…” Nico gave  Maki one more head to toe examination, shrugged, rolled her eyes, and turned away, “Show me a sketch.” Maki pulled on her coverup and retreated to a chair, knees pulled up, trembling with anger and embarrassment. This was not what she expected this assignment to be. Where was someone she could kick? Or suture? Or shoot? Where were Umi and Eli?
Kotori suddenly purred as the door opened, “Oh, hello, Sonoda-san. Welcome to our temporary studio.”
Maki thought studio was a generous description for a grungy boxing gym with a green screen set up in front of the ring.
Umi stepped in, dressed for some reason in her kendo workout gear, while Maki was wearing this wisp of thing that would get washed away in a light swell on a calm lake. Both Nico and Kotori were suddenly all attentive to the newcomer.
Umi, as polite as ever, bowed, “My apologies for my tardiness. One of my students had a minor injury I needed to tend.”
“Are they all right?” Kotori asked.
Umi nodded. “Just a small accident.”
“Good. We had a chance to start with Maki.” Kotori waved a hand in the direction of the chair, “If you’ll follow me into the locker room, I’ll get you suited.
“I am at your command.” Maki snorted, loud enough that Umi would hear so Umi pinched up her lips in a frown at the volume, Maki rolled her eyes and then was distracted by Nico with her hands on the arms of Maki’s chair, “Eyes here, Red.”
Maki was startled and snarled. “What do you want?”
Nico sighed, “Okay, Nico knows your brand is temperamental celebrity and we want other temperamental celebrities to see how all…” Nico flipped her hand dismissively at Maki, “this looks in our swimsuits, but it’ll help if you’re at least polite on the set. Don’t etiquette classes come with the wealth package. Or do you like getting thrown out of countries?”
“I can be civil.” Maki said coldly. “Oh good. Nico can’t wait to hear it. Now can you smile? Watch me.” WIthout even a beat, Nico leaned in, staring deeply into the depths of Maki’s eyes, paused just long enough that Maki’s breath caught, and then hopped back, a manic gleam in her eye and a sunblast of a smile on her face, “Nico Nico Ni needs you to act as pretty as you look.” Then there was a wink and Nico twirled, her back toward Maki and Maki had a minute to recover, “Nico will grab a camera and we’ll try the poses again.”
Maki groaned. Nico heard it and hesitated as she picked up the camera. Nico wasn’t a cruel woman. For all the red carpet photo shoots and TWIG selfies, this would be Nishikino’s first professional photoshoot. Which is part of why Nico was drill sergeanting Maki into the patented, 125% successful Nico Nico Ni practice practice practice mindset. The brat, though attractive in the conventional burn down the seacoast with laser eyes sense, would benefit from the confidence that came from repetition. Nico grabbed her oversized pink hoodie from the director’s chair and as she turned with the camera in hand, she tossed it at Maki, “Put this on.”
Maki hesitated, then shrugged into it, relaxing slightly at the warmth and additional coverage, “Why?” Nico shrugged, “This is just a practice shoot, you don’t need to freeze.”
“How did you?” Maki blushed when Nico raised an eyebrow and flicked her glance to Maki's chest for a second. Maki immediately looked anywhere but Nico, “I can handle it.” “Yep. Sure you can, Ma-ki. But tell the camera that.” “Huh?”
Nico raised the eyepiece, pointing the lens at Maki, “Confront the camera. Nobody worth your time wants passive pretty. We want fight.” Nico chuckled, “Hate hot. Flirt fight.”
“Flirt fight?” Maki said slowly, actually glad for some direction. “With you?” Nico lowered the camera, “With the lens. Nico’s not even here.” She raised her hand in front of her face like a magic trick and then Maki was looking at the lens again. Maybe if she imagined a target?
Nico decided to help, “So what makes you mad?”
Maki’s lip twisted, “Exploitation.”
Fancy word. Nico wondered if that was personal.
“What makes you happy?” Maki shrugged.
Not thrown off by no answer, Nico kept up the patter, Soldier Game needed to up their casual talk game, Nico was doing all the work here. Of course, she was prepared to do all the work. Nico relied on no one.
“Hobbies?” Nico kept moving, her voice even. “Music.” Maki’s posture opened. “I play the piano.” “Nico cooks. Pick up those boxing gloves and put them on.” Commands camouflaged in conversation, after years in the fashion business Nico was a master.
Maki walked over to the table and laced into them.
“Hit the heavy bag.”
This was better, Maki thought as she pounded into the leather, feeling a little like Steve Rogers, stuck in a place he didn’t want to be.
“Classical?”
“Jazz. Spent a lot of time in America, studying…Ellington, Basie, Baker, Chet, and Jospephine, Bessie Smith for the blues…” Maki had an easy rhythm going, hardly noticing Nico clicking away. “Then…” a snarl, “everything got openly toxic for women and Asians so I hit the road.” Good cover, Nico thought. Maki was Soldier Game's American link. “And you know Ayase and Sonoda how?”
“School. Families.” Maki shrugged, “We know the same…” her voice hardened, “people.”
“Got a jazz trio going?” Nico asked lightly. Maki laughed, the mood dispersing, rolling her shoulders and shaking out her arms before attacking the bag again.
“Look at me.” Not a request.
A graceful turn, sharp purple eyes snapped onto Nico, narrowing, curious, alert, cardigan slipping unnoticed off a shoulder, strong legs braced for the next blow.
“Got it.” Nico announced, lowering the camera with a flair.
Maki tilted her head, “Got what?”
“Nishikino Maki.” Nico glanced down at her viewscreen, ruby eyes with a happy twinkle. “I’m about to rethink our whole campaign. Kotori likes sweaty.” Nico froze. Oh damn, she’d better go rescue the kendo champ.  “Wait here, Cassius.” And Nico hustled to the dressing room.
###
Kotori was sitting primly, legs crossed, hands folded in her lap, eyes never leaving the muscles on Umi’s back as the other woman changed into the swimsuit Kotori had chosen for her.  Nico barrelled through the door, Umi gasped and grabbed for a towel, and Kotori frowned and turned, “Nico, I was concentrating.” “Sure you were. But Nico has this genius idea. I took some pics of Red there,” Nico flicked her thumb back toward where Maki was slouching in the door, “with gloves and my hoodie over the suit and you’ll love the aesthetic. Just take a look. Plus, I ran a quick search on boxers…” “When did you have time?” Maki wondered. “There was a whole hallway; Nico is fast.” Nico slid next to Kotori, “Found Muhamad Ali quotes. One of them is “I’m too fast. I’m too smart. I’m too pretty." And with these three...”
“Nico” Kotori turned, wide eyed, hands reaching for Nico’s while Umi and Maki shared a confused glance, “That’s PERFECT.” “Nico knows.” “People will swoon.” Nico took a quick glance back at Maki, “Nico knows. And Ali's an American icon, so cultural resonance. Coated in pop culture candy."
Kotori stood up, muttering, totally ignoring Umi, who was standing with a towel clasped at breast level offering some cover for her bare torso. “Just a few changes, maybe robes, maybe some of those big, satin shorts, sliding down…” Kotori swept her hand down her hip.
“Nico can see it.” “Now that I’ve seen them I can…” “Yeah, yeah, less talk, we get on a plane in tomorrow, go make magic happen.” Nico shoved Kotori from behind, forcing the designer seamstress into a stumble toward the door. Nico picked up Umi’s shirt from where Kotori had been sitting on it, handing it to the owner with a wink, “You can thank Nico later.”
Umi grabbed on to the lifeline and nodded.
“When Kotori finds you again, tell her Nico’s in the gym, setting up a few things for tomorrow’s shoot.” “Of course, Nico.” Umi buttoned up quickly.
“Thanks, champ.” Nico blew a kiss as she bounded out of the room, past Maki with barely a side glance. Umi chuckled.
“You’re amused?” Shocked, Maki settled across a bench, twirling a curl of hair.
“By Nico?" Umi considered. "Yes. She and Kotori have an interesting working dynamic. Completely different from ours, but just as professional in its own way, I think.”
Maki looked doubtful. “She seems a little flaky.”
“It’s mostly for show.”
“Really?”
“Yes, like when a bird displays its full foliage.”
“To impress someone? With flakiness?” “With energy. Very desirable from a mating perspective.” “You want to ma…” Umi, now flustered, rushed to interrupt Maki’s question, “Birds, birds do such things to attract a mate. I am a complete professional, as always.”
“As expected.” Maki agreed. Umi never cracked. Eli would occasionally start to have...Maki hated the f word....feelings, but Umi, Umi was always 100% on the job, ready, focused. Maki relied on that. What Maki did with....emotional precursors was work them out, leave them to wilt in the blaze of the open, actively exhaust her imagination so she didn’t have to wonder about things. Remembering a flare deep in devilish eyes and hands confidently maneuvering a camera, Maki considered if acting on the impusles flashing through her thoughts would be best before she got on a plane with Nico and flew into even more unfamiliar territory, Maki knew how she worked, and she knew who and what she would be thinking about. Nico’s exacting glance had had a tactile quality and Maki’s skin felt like it had been barely brushed by exploring fingertips. Which was going to be distracting. And Maki knew too well that distractions could be deadly.
“I’ll be in the gym. Don’t find me.” Maki decided.
Umi withheld her commentary. Every job was dangerous. Every Soldier prepared in her own way.
###
Nico had taken the green screen down and was in the center of the boxing ring, looking through a frame made by her fingers, muttering. Maki slid a weight in front of the door and approached the ring, hanging over the ropes.
“I saw you looking at me.” Accusatory snap. Why not? Hate hot. Nico had said that. Nico inhaled, sighed, and turned with hands open, “Look, Nico is sorry, and is so so professional, but you’re just so…” “Hot.” Maki ran a hand through her hair, “I know.” Switch the mood, check. Nico’s expression soured, “Okay. When did Nico sign up for your publicity blasts?"
“I don’t DO relationships," Maki announced, as if Nico had not spoken, "but you’re obviously into me, we have to work together, and I’d really rather not spend a lot of time wondering about whether you’re any good in bed,” Maki stepped through the ropes, strutted toward Nico, making certain to brush by the shorter woman, “like...you know.” And Maki shrugged, casually as she turned, and offhand arrogant multiple x rated seXXXy flashed neon in Nico’s mind.
Nico shook herself, quickly recalibrating the expected response. Ms. Too Cocky For Containment, Too Shy for Eye Contact here obviously wanted Nico to skip the apology phase and go right to impress. “Nico does fine. No complaints. Thousands of need more Nico texts.”
Maki’s quirked eyebrow read dubious as she leaned back, with liquid grace, in the corner of the ring. “Sure. Because your lack of detail encourages belief.” Amethyst eyes dared Nico.
Was this a trap designed to lower Nico’s defenses? Work of the mole? She and Kotori had decided wariness was essential with the new security team, but showing weakness was no way to keep the upper hand. And Nico thrived on the offensive.
“Would you like pics?” Two steps and Nico had blocked Maki into the corner, and the grungy, windowless gym had shrunk to the size of the ring as the combatants sized up their next moves, “Testimonials?” The tip of Nico’s nose had now landed a jab against Maki’s as dark pink lips landed the verbal followup, snapping, “Nico doesn’t even need a bed.”
Nico knew there was a big chance that saying that would completely blow the atmosphere and the super stupidly hot redhead who wouldn’t stop looking super stupidly doable would just collapse into hysterics. And, Nico thought, honestly that might have been a relief, because right now, Nico was pretty pretty sure pretty pretty Maki was smoldering with some fire Nico didn’t start and Nico wasn’t sure exactly what was supposed to happen. Or if everything would just explode.  But Nico had never gotten anywhere by not being bold.
“Oh really?” Maki pushed herself up, voice trembling slightly to belay the confidence in her actions, but as the movement rippled through her abs to her bosom, the thinking parts of Nico’s brain, the ones that had been slowing her down, shut off and her hands shot out to grab Maki’s waist.
“I liked you better down here.” Nico dropped Maki onto the stool, leaning in, one hand sliding slowly over Maki’s ear, through her hair, fingers exerting the lightest pressure on the neck, other hand holding Maki at the back of the waist.
“Oh.’ That squeaked out of Maki and Nico was suddenly at her neck, nibbling, confident, certain, as she felt moans her...opponent, sure let’s go with boxing analogies, was swallowing. Maki had not anticipated Nico’s response to be this fast. Or...effective. Maki could feel her heart hammering and Nico’s nearness raising the hairs on her arms. Was this a standard thing for Nico and models?
Nico nipped the earlobe and timed with the shudder, went for the hook, “Want more?” following quickly with an uppercut, her lips on Maki’s throat, slipping to the jaw, hand sliding down to tease Maki’s breast. Maki almost convulsed, no longer asking questions, all of her attention now on Nico’s next advance.
Nico heard a hiss. But no words.
“What was that? Nico was now between Maki’s open legs, leaning in in a way that would have surprised her at the brazeness of the move, if Nico’d been thinking at all, but no, she wasn’t, so she pushed in and Maki leaned forward, even as she squirmed on the stool, legs bumping Nico’s waist, her arms slipping through to wrap themselves in the ring ropes to either side.
“Maki?” Nico avoided the lips, even as Maki nearly roared, concentrating on the reddening chest above Maki’s bikini top, a hand on the bow and the bikini fell open, and Nico stopped for a heartbeat, breathless, she would be going there, as soon as…
A hissed word full of whispery need. “yssss.” And Nico bit, and Maki screamed, and the stool got kicked out of the ring, and Maki was suspended against the ropes, head thrown back, hair in crazy, bouncing tousles, and Nico could never watch another boxing match again, and every taste and touch of skin was so soft and supple and Nico had to dodge a thrashing leg, and Maki was about to rip the stanchion out of the ring, and Nico freed Maki's arm from the ropes, and fell backwards with both of them like they’d switched to wrestling and with Maki on top, Nico even impressed herself, hands flittering as fast as butterflies, kisses hitting as hard as taps on the speed bag, Maki mouthing nothing that made sense. And, then, with a cry, it was over. And for just a brief second, Nico caught a bright glance wide with wonder, then long lashes fluttered closed, and Nico had to scramble for something to cover them both as Maki passed out.
“Wow.” Nico sat, catching her breath, back braced against the stanchion that had managed to survive upright, redhead snoring at her side, under a beach towel. “But what the hell?”
Maki muttered and Nico hushed immediately. Now was not a time for Sleepy Beauty to be wide awake in beast mode. Nico was thinking.
A/N: Twitter, where I live, was in a Bodyguard AU mood so it got me thinking. And all this Maki X Not Nico stuff also got me grumbling. And here we are. Can't promise when the next chunk will come, as I am working on finishing Apocalypse Midnight Dance Party chapters (and Tiger By The Tail) but I wanted to post this start. Enjoy. And stay safe. And drop me a song for my Soldier Game playlist.

Chapter One: Lost and Found

_________________________________________
I shift the bag over my shoulder as I slam the back door to my beat-up car and lock the door. My eyes fall on the not-so-far-off building as I begin walking across the crowded parking lot. First day of college, not that it should have been too much of a problem since I knew the small community college building well. I grab my phone out of my back pocket and bring it out so I can triple check the room number I was headed to.
My whole left side slams into something, er someone, causing me to gasp and my phone to tumble from my hand. Our hands bump into each other in an attempt to soften the fall or attempt to catch the device, but to no anvil. It lands on the ground with a small crack, causing me to wince, and I let out a small sigh, “Fuck.”
“I am so sorry,” the guy whispers as I lean down to grab my phone, “I was trying to make sure I was going to be heading to the right lecture and-”
“It’s fine,” I smile standing up and flipping my phone in my hand to check for cracks, and thankfully there are none. I flip it over to show him that no harm had been done, making him sigh in relief. That’s when I get the chance to really look at him; tall, tanned skin, golden honey eyes, and long purple hair that was thrown up in a pony-tail. God was he pretty. I let out a gentle laugh before continuing, “First day jitters got me too.”
He looks down, a small blush coloring his cheeks as he rubs the back of his neck, “Believe me when I say they have been plaguing me all day. Especially since I am not from around here.”
“I can see that,” I giggle.
I watch as he rubs the back of his neck, “Um, is there any way you could show me where I am supposed to go?”
“Yeah, absolutely,” I say, motioning him to follow me as I walk the rest of the way toward the building, “Where you headed?”
“Business 101,” he states as he follows me inside. We walk over to the schedule sheet, his face turning a darker shade of red now that he sees it. “I could have done that, I’m sorry-”
“No, you’re fine, this school is a maze. Here,” I motion for him to follow me again and move down the hallway. “So, where are you from?”
“Galar,” He states, chuckling when I give him a confused look. “It’s an island off of England. Not very well known, but it’s home.”
“Is it beautiful?” My curiosity is piqued, as we get to his classroom, the teacher is already speaking with a few students that are inside.
“It is.” He smiles, nodding his head and shifting his backpack. “Um, thank you again…” His voice trails, and the way he is looking at me says he wants to know more.
“(Y/N).” I smile, moving my hand out to shake his hand, my other hooking itself underneath my backpack strap.
“(Y/N),” he smiles when he says it, reaching and taking my hand in his, giving it a firm squeeze. “Leon.” He looks down again and shuffles his feet, “I would love to continue talking but I don’t want you to miss your class. Is there any way that I could maybe get your number?”
I nod and laugh, making a new contact and passing it to him. “As long as you promise to not try and break my phone again.”
“I can promise I will not try to break your phone.” He states as he types in his number. When he is done, I notice he makes a face as he passes his phone back. “Boyfriend?”
I blink at him in confusion before I glance down at the screen, the background is a picture from prom earlier that spring, my boyfriend’s arm is wrapped around my waist as we smile at the camera. “Oh, yeah, he’s at a university so we have been trying to keep in touch.”
He nods, and gives me another smile. “Thank you again, (Y/N), I’ll text you later?”
“Sounds good.” I smile, walking backward a wase before spinning around and heading to my class, heart feeling a little lighter than when I left that morning.
Leon quickly becomes one of my closest friends, and someone I rely on everyday. He is one of maybe three people that I text on the daily, hell I hear from him more than the guy I had been dating for two years. Leon slowly is picking up my habits, double texting when I forget to text back, and offers to hang out when I need to get away from school. So when my first practical comes up, and all at once I go quiet with no reason for it, Leon knows that something is wrong.
The tapping on my shoulder pulls me from my mindless scrolling, eyes lifting up to see Leon smiling at me, or at least until he sees the bags under my eyes. “Shitty weekend?”
“Yeah,” I whisper smiling a little more as Leon hands me a cup of hot chocolate, my phone finding its home back inside my hoodie pocket.
“Want to talk about it?”
I open my mouth, but the thought of admitting my broken heart only causes me to look down and hide the tears in my eyes and shake my head.
“Hey,” he says, taking my hand that isn’t holding the cup. “If you want, I can wait until you finish up with your practical and we can hang-”
“I have an exam after too, you shouldn’t have to wait for me.” I whisper as to not let the quiver in my voice show.
“I’d rather know you’re okay. I’ll wait in the lobby after my class and we can go out and get food. Then we can talk, or I can talk and you can laugh at me making myself look like an idiot, okay?” I nod, a small laugh leaving my lips, but don’t look at him. He places a hand on my cheek to gently force me to lift my head, and that’s when I know that he knows. He gives me a sad smile before tugging me into his chest for a hug. “You’re going to do fine on both your exam and your practical. You got this, (Y/N).”
I wrap my arms around his back and give him a firm squeeze, “Thanks, Lee.” I take a small step back before smiling at him. “I’ll see you in a few hours, okay?”
“See you in a few.”
~
“He’s a dick-” Leon states as he shoves four fries in his mouth, making me laugh. “I’m serious, he is.”
“He was a good first boyfriend though, never had to worry about well, that.” Leon looks up, an eyebrow raised with a fry hanging from his mouth. “Sex, Lee.”
His eyes bug out and he coughs as I slide him his water which he gulps down. “Holy hell, (Y/N)-”
“You wanted me to be honest!” I giggle, stealing a fry from his plate.
“I wasn’t expecting you to be blunt.” He coughs, shaking his head and making his hair fluff around his head.
I gaze back down at my now empty plate, looking at the swirls of ketchup left on the plate. Once he had calmed down, I decide to speak up. “Hey, Lee?” He hums in response. “Thanks for checking in on me today, and doing this.”
I glance at him to see him already looking at me. He places his hands on the table, palm side up. He playfully pats the table making me laugh as I place my hands in his. “There is no place I would rather be. I was worried about you. I knew you were studying, but you’re usually better at replying, so I could only assume something had happened. Especially since you had mentioned what that idiot was doing.”
“Lee…”
“The way he treated you wasn’t right. If he wasn’t going to keep the relationship going then he should have talked to you about it before it went this far.” He shakes his head and gives my hands another firm squeeze, “You deserve better.”
I give his hands a gentle squeeze back. Smiling, I let out a small teasing laugh, “Are you better?”
He shrugs, giving me a bashful smile. “Well, I don’t know about that. Right now, all I want is to be here if you need me. That okay?”
“Sounds like the kind of friend I need right now.”
~
2 years later
“Another date?” Lee’s voice echoes through the phone as I lay in bed in pajamas, hand placed over my eyes as to avoid the brightness in the room.
“Don’t you another date me. Tracey has been on Tinder, she said it’s a good start-”
“This is the third start,” Lee groans, I can almost hear him counting them on his fingers. “You let one friend set you up on a date with one of their friends that ended up with no call back. Then you met that guy at that oddball coffee shop and talked to him for what, three weeks until he couldn’t get the hint you weren’t ready for a relationship, especially that early. And now, it’s a date from a guy you don’t even know!”
I let out a soft laugh, “You’re worried-”
“Damn right I am!” He basically yells into the phone. He groans for a second before his voice softens. “I just want you to be happy, and I don’t think this will do that.”
“I have to get back out there somehow, Lee. I start my program in the fall, and I just want to try something.” I roll over and look at my side table, seeing the two photos that sit on it. One is of Ginny, my best friend, and me. The two of us are in our prom dresses from high school. The other was of Leon and I from a night of just hanging out. He had happened to lift his phone to snap a photo to send to his little brother while we were laughing at something. “And I’m being safe, staying in town, and driving separately.”
“Good, I want you safe, and I don’t care what time you get home, text me so I know you’re safe. Okay?”
“Sure thing, Lee.” I smile, nodding softly. “I’ll let you go, I know it’s late there.”
He lets out a soft sigh,“You’re worth losing sleep over.”
I slam my car door shut and let my feet drag as I trudge back up the steps of my house. One word, awkward. He couldn’t hold a conversation. More than that, I just wasn’t comfortable. Looks like text conversations didn’t transfer to real conversation.
“That bad?” My mom asks, almost laughing at the way I kick my shoes off and toss my purse over the chair.
“Never again.” I groan, pulling my hair out of its hair tie and letting it fall. I throw my hands up into the air and walk past her, hearing her laugh as I stalk to my room to change into comfy clothes.
As I change, I notice my screen light up. I flop across my bed and see Leon’s response to my ‘made it home’ message.
_______________________________________________________________
Lee Lee
You’re home early
How bad was it?
(Y/N/N)
Let’s NOT talk about it
You were right
I was wrong
Let’s leave it at that
_______________________________________________________________
Once the messages send, I finish changing and toss my clothes in the hamper. The screen lights up with Leon’s face. I laugh as I grab and place it to my ear, “Gonna tell me you were right and I was wrong?”
“No, you already stated that,” he laughs as I roll my eyes at him, “Just want to know what went wrong.”
So I tell him in full detail, and when I get to the end I let out a small sigh. “I think I’m just doing this all wrong.”
“And why do you think that?”
“Cause they’re all the same! Awkward awkward awkward. This is the reason I have always stated that I need to be friends with the person first. Then it’s a different sort of awkward, ya know?”
“It’s just first date jitters, not 'I’m meeting this person for the first time’ jitters on top of it.”
“Yeah,” I sigh, rolling over so I can grab the picture of Leon and I off the side table. That, that’s what I wanted. Easy, comfortable, simple change; and that had always been Leon.
“You should let me take you on a date. These guys don’t seem to know how to treat a woman.” Leon teased after the first guy never texted back after our date.
I had always shrugged it off, but what if?
I nervously bite my lip, contemplating even saying what had been on my mind the past few months. “Do you remember when Adam and I broke up, you told me that I deserved better?”
There is a small pause on the other side of the line, “And you asked me if I was better?” The curiosity was evident in his voice, I can hear him sitting up, in what I can only assume is his bed.
“Did- would you- when you come back, I mean. Would you want to go on a date?” My eyes are staring at the comforter underneath me, and when he doesn’t say anything, panic sets in. “I mean, you don’t have to, I just thought, you know what nevermind-”
“(Y/N), hey,” I hear him laugh, “You have to let me answer before you back track.” He is giggling, and I feel the blush to crawl across my cheeks. “I wasn’t planning on coming back until the fall, but,” he sang the last word, making me laugh. “I miss you, so I’m going to go, uh, talk to my boss about coming out for two weeks. Then we can see about that date.”
“Really?” The joy and excitement was evident in my voice, making him chuckle into the phone. “That sounds perfect, Lee.” I smile, biting my lip before glancing at the clock, it’s late where he is. “Am I still worth losing sleep for?”
“Always, darling.”
Thinking back, Leon had been the obvious choice for a boyfriend. A long-term boyfriend. He was kind, cute, knew what made me tick, and just fit the weirdness criteria that I needed to function correctly. But, the night of our first date ended up happening three weeks after it had been planned.
Lee had to plan with his boss about taking some time to come back, and since they were mid-season, he couldn’t just leave willy-nilly. But, he got the two weeks off with some badgering.
He offered to pick me up, and we decided dinner and a movie would be perfect. Of course, not everything ever goes as planned; especially when Lee doesn’t have an internal compass. He missed our exit, twice. Then we missed the movie, so we looked for a later time which was much later than either of us wanted.
I opted for us to just go get dinner instead, which led us to a bit of a fancier restaurant that needed a reservation to even get into. When I could tell that Lee was getting frustrated, I smiled at the server he was trying to persuade into letting us in and just wrapped my arms around his arm to draw his attention toward me.
“Why don’t we just drive down the road to that little diner we saw on the way in? We could get burgers and milkshakes?” I bat my eyes at him, which caused him to chuckle.
“Whatever you want, darling.” He hums, moving his arm that I was holding onto to wrap it around me before apologizing to the server and walked out with me.
Once inside the car, I whip out my phone and type in the directions making Lee sigh. “What’s wrong, Lee?”
“I just wanted to make this date perfect, and I just keep messing it up-”
“Leon,” I place a hand on his arm, making him look at me. “This is so typical of what we do, and that is what makes this date so perfect, because it’s just us. I don’t need fancy, I just need you.” Now that I had said it out loud, I could feel the blush fall across my cheeks.
Leon opens and closes his mouth, trying to find the correct words before he just smiles at me and nods. “Arceus, I’m so lucky I bumped into you that first day.”
I giggle, taking his hand that he places on the middle console as he gets ready to pull out of the parking lot and back into the main drag. As we drive, something crosses my mind. “Did you just say Arceus? Like the Pokemon?”
He glances at me, a small smile falling across his lips, “Yeah, sorry it slipped-”
“No, you’re okay, I just wanted to make sure that was what you said. I’m behind on the franchise so it took a minute to register.”
“Franchise?”
I give him a lopsided smile, “Yeah, Pokemon. It’s a franchise, by Game Freak. They have card games, movies, t.v. shows, and lots of other stuff. Did- did you not know?”
He blinks, mouth gaping as if he was trying to find the right words. “No, I know. I just never thought about it like that?” It comes out more as a question, before he changes the subject, “Where do I turn, love?”
When the date ended, Lee stated that he was going to take me on two more dates. “Now, why two you may ask-”
“You already know I am going to ask why specifically two-”
“It’s just to see if what we are feeling is more towards the relationship side, or still just the friendship side. Fair?”
“Fair,” I giggle as I unbuckle. When I reach for the door I hear him open his. He walks me to the door, and that little bit of awkwardness settles in. But, it’s a good kind of awkward, new kind of awkward. “So, what are we gonna do?”
“Like tomorrow?”
“Well I have work til seven…”
“I’ll grab movies and can be over after you get out?”
The two of us shift slightly on the front porch, and I was surprised my family hadn’t come to see what we were doing. But it seemed we had the same thing in mind.
“Lee-”
“Can I-?” We spoke at once, making us laugh slightly at the awkwardness of it.
“Go ahead,” I giggle, taking a small step toward him, only now noticing the blush coloring his cheeks.
“Right, uh, can, could I possibly kiss you?” He shuffles his foot against the ground, “I mean you, we don’t have to, but-”
“Weren’t you the one who told me not to back track before letting the other person answer?” I giggle, now letting him see that I had closed most of the space between us.
He lets out a small laugh, “Yeah, I guess I did.” His eyes flicker from my eyes to my lips before his hand cups my cheek and leans in, my hands falling to rest against his chest. The kiss is soft, and it may have taken a bit for everything to get comfortable, but the blush on our faces was enough to make us both giggle.
Let’s just say, those two weeks were filled with more than just those two dates. Leon ended up meeting my closest friends, and spending a lot of time with me when I wasn’t at work. We even spent some time with his aunt and uncle’s house on days we wanted to get away from everyone else, but those were limited.
“I know you told me about him,” Ginny whispers as the two of us walk up from her boyfriend’s family boat to grab our towels so we could go swimming. “But I didn’t realize how close you two were.” She’s teasing, of course, but it makes you smile back.
“I think I was just too blind to realize that he was right in front of me, but it is still early.”
“I think you look happier than ever before, but I think you have also matured. I really hope this works out for you. He really clicks with you, (Y/N).”
“I hope so too.”
~
Leon is an amazing boyfriend, but there are some things that are just off. Some of the things are easily debunked since he lives in a different country, but some of the things are just weird. Like on our lazy-day study dates, Leon would describe things that weren’t something I had ever heard of.
“Lee, what should I draw?” I ask as he slides in behind me on the floor, replaying the movie he put on after he finished his homework.
“Hmm,” he takes a sip of his drink before offering it to me. “A wooloo? Wooloos are cute.”
I twist in my seat to raise an eyebrow at him, “What’s a wooloo?”
“Its, uh,” he scratches the back of his neck, “like you have sheep here, and we have wooloos-”
“So it’s a sheep?”
“But better.”
“How is it better?” I laugh, taking a sip of his tea which causes me to wrinkle my nose in disgust.
“It just is, it’s so fluffy.” He laughs, taking back his tea and trying to reposition me so that I am pressed against his chest. “I’ll describe it, and then you try and draw it and we will see if it looks the same.”
This was one of the easier things to explain, the drawing challenges he gave me on lazy days. However, when it came to other things, that raised some concerns. Like when his boss continued to call when Leon obviously had given him his schedule.
Leon let out an annoyed groan as his phone lit up next to him while we were cuddled up on the couch at my house. The name that came up was 'Rose.’ “Sorry, love, let me get this.” He hums as he untangles himself from me to walk out of the room. “Chairman, how are you?”
When Lee came back, he looks fatigued and annoyed. “You alright, Lee?”
“Yeah, just my boss. You know how he is.” Lee mutters, sitting to get settled when his phone buzzes again. He groans again before he sighs softly at who texted him. He uses one hand to swipe out a text before settling back next to me, tugging me into his side. “Raihan just texted because he knows Rose called me, when he knows to call on the weekends if he needs something.”
“Rose?”
“My boss, he can be a bit annoying. But I have been gone most of the year when usually I’m there. He is just going to be more on my case until I graduate.” Lee glances at me, and notices the concern crossing my features, making him smile and cup my cheek. “Nothing to worry about, love. I’ll call him before my class tomorrow and settle the stuff he wants me to do.”
However, Lee got pulled away earlier that evening by his boss’s assistant. He apologized a dozen times, but after not ever seeing this before I could only assume this was what I had been missing the past two years. One of the final things that was weird was how his extended family thought of his home country.
“How come Galar isn’t on the map?” I ask, standing in his aunt and uncle’s house, looking up at their world map mural while Leon grabs us a drink.
Before Lee can explain, his uncle interrupts. “Because the damn place isn’t seen as a real place. It’s a myth to the rest of the damn world.”
“Jefferson!” His aunt calls, annoyance evident in her voice.
“What! It shouldn’t exist!” He growls as he walks into the kitchen, the argument already starting.
I turn my head and look over at Lee, his eyes downcasted to the floor. I move, taking the glasses from his hands before slowly wrapping my arms about his waist. “Will you tell me about your hometown? You always tell me you’ll tell me about the place you grew up, but we never get the chance to.”
I hear him sigh, eyes lifting to look at my face. He gives me a soft smile squeezing me in a hug before turning me in his arms so that my back is pressed to his front, directly in front of the mural.
“Galar is right about here,” his finger brushes against the paint. “And Postwick, which is a small village outside of Wedgehurst. It’s filled with fields and small houses that are covered in vines and flowers…”
Despite all the weird things that have occurred, Leon is one hell of a great guy. My family adores him, makes comments all the time that they hope he sticks around, and after dating him for two years, he has still done just that. But, now Leon is graduating in a few weeks, and we don’t know exactly where our relationship will go. What we do know is that we would like it to be for the long-run, but only time will tell.
“I have a question for you,” Lee’s voice carries across my family’s office where the two of us were settled to do homework.
“Shoot,” I mutter, typing in another sentence to the paper that was due at the end of the week.
“You always ask about Galar, and my family-”
“Only because you know basically everything about me, and the stuff I know about you is your hometown, your mom, and your little brother Hop.” I hum, twirling in my chair to face him.
Leon is smiling at me, sitting on the couch diagonal from me. He shakes his head and chuckles. “Why don’t you come for the summer.”
I blink at him before standing and sitting next to him. “Come to Galar? Lee, I have one more summer I can work until my last two semesters. You know that-”
“You have clinicals all next summer, I know.” He cups my cheek, smiling softly. “That’s why you would work while you were there. All I have to do is talk to my boss and he could figure something out for you.”
“I don’t have a passport.”
“Then I guess you will have to get a passport! C'mon, (Y/N), come home with me. Let me show you where I grew up.”
I make a face in fake thought before giggling. “Guess I better get a passport.”
Lee let out a whoop before pulling me to stand and spinning us in a circle.
Maybe all the weirdness would end with that one trip, a trip that never happened.

ppl have been asking me my opinions on space channel 5 vr... and i guess since i bought a vr headset off craigslist just so i could play it and speedrun it before work the day it came out... i should talk abt it now... i dont rly think i’ll be able to separate it into ‘good’ and ‘bad’ things i think i’m just going to do a rambly stream of consciousness bc i have a headache... but i DO have good things to say abt this game... so st.... sta stay t tune  d
right off the bat, the thing i appreciate most abt this game- i like that space channel 5 vr doesnt have cash grab vibes. i Do genuinely believe that they Wanted to make this game For the people who are still obsessed with it, and that they ultimately did what they set out to do when they intended to scale certain aspects of the series up conceptually to match the way the fandom perceives it nowadays. but like i’ve said before... i’m not going to Disagree with the very common conclusion that it Needed to be longer, or at Least more intricate plot-wise. one of my fun and fresh excuses for sc5vr being as short as it is is because you arent really supposed to be playing vr games for too long anyways, its really disorienting and kinda painful, but even that doesn’t account for why so much of the game that we got is a rehash of old settings, concepts, songs, and characters. [i dont even have a problem with reusing old songs, i just think the ones they chose ended up being misleading]
for example i think it makes sense that the first report is a remake of the first games first report on the surface, it’s meant to take you back to the way the first game felt and give you an idea of what it means that the games classic scenery can be rendered in actual high quality detail now [same with the recurrence of events like encountering the space pirates in the asteroid belt/the last battle against a villain being singing to it about what it’s done wrong], but i really thought, like, report 1 was going to end up being a simulated scenario for the benefit of lou and kee’s training... which i dont think ended up being the case??? i think they really did write ‘ok here you are in the first game’s setting again, fighting the old enemies again, because... :^) ok have fun playing report 2!’
and then whats report 2... you fight another old boss from the first game... but theres Still no clear villain or motivation for anything thats happening... and there wont be until like... basically the end of the game...
like, glitter is a really cute character, but its kind of underwhelming that shes just a random citizen who was kidnapped by an entity that we NEVER LEARN ANYTHING ABOUT... like part 1 was extremely notable for being about corporate greed and corruption, part 2 honestly wasnt that political in comparison but at least made you do a think wrt purge’s motivation and his methods, and this game just has a plot device that feels like it’ll do smth but then ends up not doing anything beyond what we already learned about it from the information on its character bio before the game was out. if it turns out that cell x is actually relevant again in a future entry in the franchise and they do have a more developed concept for what cell x Is in mind, i’ll do an entire backflip, but for now its just chalked up to being the result of More Space Hijinks that dont need to be explained
ESPECIALLY WITH ALL OF THE ALLUSIONS TO CELL X BEING AN ENTITY THAT FEEDS OFF OF DANCE ENERGY... it had me thinking that there would have to be some New Method of fighting it off that didn’t just lend it more power in the process, but nah apparently just tacking on the disclaimer ‘*this dance energy is not for glitter’ is enough to turn it from smth it can consume for power into big attacks you can use to kill it... like honestly it sounds like im asking for a lot from a game that has Never made too much sense, but considering that in part 2 they could add details like ‘oh didnt you know purge can open pocket dimensions? ulala is capable of manifesting tangible dance energy and the only other person who can do that is purge???’, its not like they havent come up with weird new shit for dance energy to do within the plot before. they just didnt do it in this game fsr
like did anyone else think that cell x/glitter was going to be the result of tossing purge out into deep space and him encountering the sc5 universe’s equivalent of an eldritch alien creature, smth more bestial than morolians?? even if purge wasnt part of it, when you say ‘uh oh, this guy Eats this society’s only source of energy!!!’ i expect the stakes to get HIGH, and i want the ramifications of it to be kinda STARTLING, because blank wanted money and purge wanted to ritualistically end the world but something this near to an ecological disaster that would force an entire paradigm shift hasn’t occurred yet in the series?? its totally new!!! there’s a lot they could do with this but OH DONT WORRY ABOUT IT EVERYONE ulala knows how to make dance energy kill cell x instead of feed it she’s got this we’re good no need to investigate more into all that
i can’t explain why the game is like this. and i dont expect grounding to address it in any meaningful way either. i’m sure they’re Aware of these complaints by now- the game reviewing community has Not been kind to sc5vr specifically due to all of these shortcomings [i didnt even touch on the issues with motion sensing and how many of the games mechanics were removed in favor of smth presumably easier to program yet much less satisfying, like Secret Moves just being mini quicktime events and Turning Your Ratings Into Stars just being replaced with the standard Three Strikes You’re Out method of scoring], but the pr team still seems very enthusiastic abt the game and is still promising dlc and potentially even more games in the series after this one- heres hoping that they’ll at least take these grievances to heart and consider making the experience not only more accessible [aka it will... go back to being a rhythm game with controller input.... and not... an exclusive vr experience...], but also as immersive and detailed as the old games, with less reused plot beats. i can let some of it off the hook in this game simply because i’m aware that it began its life as a tech demo that was only supposed to be that initial first report from the first game But Happening All Around You!, but i Really dont think they could get away with doing this little to expand upon the groundwork set by the first two games again. not with the way people remember part 2 being such a vast upgrade from part 1... the bar had been set so high that this just felt like a huge backslide into something even sillier and harder to take seriously than part 1 before we had any idea what kind of staying power the franchise would have as a hallmark of sega’s quirky antics. like... this game is what i think space channel 5 looks like to people who don’t understand the appeal of the first two games. and that scares me
but i guess for the most part, aside from wishing they had done more to revitalize the setting and the lore of the sc5 universe itself, im kind of glad it didnt do a lot to change the existing storylines the characters have kinda forged for themselves- here i was stressing out that they would pull out some plot development that would utterly and drastically change the way we talked abt the series for the rest of time, but so little happened and so little was added to the bank of sc5 lore that we can kind of all just carry on as usual and keep having the same headcanons we always had.
BUT!!! there ARE a lot of cute little details here and there that make the experience feel wholesome and like i said not an utter cashgrab- like so many of the character profiles referencing previous games [all of the references to npcs in this game being relatives of the npcs of the last games made me lose it] and how often ulala changes her expressions up and looks right at you and talks to you. the new music they wrote for the game also all slaps and everyones redesigns [if they got a redesign... rip pudding] are stunning
one of the most important things they did in this game was give a nice sort of Update to every character.... for example explaining that ulala isn’t a rookie reporter any more like she was in the first 2 games, that she’s moved up to being in charge of training new channel 5 reporters, and that while pudding is still somewhat stuck on her rivalry with ulala her career isn’t stagnant either, she was just cast in a romcom series as the lead... which is really nice considering how in the past she was portrayed as somewhat of a loser with almost no remaining fans left from her idol years
and you knew i was going to bring up jaguar at some point HES ALL OVER THIS GAME AND IT LITERALLY MADE ME FEEL LIKE MY LIFE WAS WORTH POWERING THROUGH THESE LAST FEW YEARS AND ALSO LIKE IM A GENIUS FOR SPENDING SO LONG POSTING EVERY SINGLE DAY ‘NO REALLY, HE’S THE SECONDARY PROTAGONIST OF THE STORY, ITS ABOUT CHANNEL 5 AS A COMPANY AND THEIR IMPACT ON EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER ENCOUNTERED THEM AND THAT INCLUDES JAGUAR AS WELL AS ULALA HES INTEGRAL TO THE PLOT BC SHE WOULDNT BE ALIVE IF IT WEREN’T FOR HIM’ i feel like it’s really incredible how in this game he has genuinely nice energy and doesnt withhold praise from ulala just to be helpful in a mysterious way later and he like HAS FRIENDS now. like consider how he went from disgraced former ch5 employee who got mad every time he saw them, to kidnapped robot henchman kinda humbled by the fact that now the turns tabled and ulala had to rescue Him, and now 3 years later his bio is all about how he has a new tv show thats super popular and he has a new entourage of ladies who he considers his '’’’’’comrades’’’’’’’ within the station he founded??? AND AFTER 20 YEARS THEY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO GIVE HIS MODEL JUICY ASS CHEEKS??????????????? NO MORE PANCAKE BOOTY???? THE BOY HAD A GLOWUP AND NO I WONT STOP TALKING ABOUT IT
