"And to follow up on Niko Mikkola...his sense of humour with him, like, maybe—lot of people don't talk—like, last night he was like, you know, he "woke Bobby up," or whatever. "Good thing Bob was awake—"
"He's a great personality and I've said this kinda during the year. And we've, you know, I mean we're always—...I was gonna say, "It'd be great if you guys could spend a lot of time with him," but then we spend a lot of time trying to make sure you guys don't spend too much time with our guys, so, there goes—so, forget that! But, he is an incredibly interesting guy. What's great is when he's coming to the bench... if there's something that's broken down, and I'm not sure if he's screaming in Finnish or it's in English, but it is funny as hell! And it's consistent. So, he plays really high-energy level. A lot of times these kinda big, lanky guys are... you don't really think they're moving that fast, but they are! He looks like he's getting across the ice, and, you know, he competes hard. That's what we like the most of him, but he talks at a high-energy level, too, on the bench. And that's great, right? We have some quiet players on our bench, and that's fine, that's who they are. But, those guys like Mikkola, who's got—nobody knows—Well there's four other Finnish guys knowing what he's saying, but nobody else knows what he's saying.
paul loves all his rascals and it is a joy to hear his takes on them its mikksys turn now!

Barista at the coffee shop close to my house complimented my name one day so of course I replied "thanks I chose it" and now everyone there is constantly calling me Winter
My farmer, Clover! (Please ignore the drawings, I promise I can do better 😭)
Infodump timeeeee
She’s an energetic and cheerful 19-year-old who is just trying to get by. Clover tends to be a bit over energetic at times though, with pretty exaggerated emotions. A little crazy and deranged at times, but she’s getting better, promise. Even with her name being ‘Clover’, she’s not exactly the luckiest person out there.
Clover grew up with her mother, who more or less, basically ignored her most of the time. So she had a lot of freedom as a kid, and often got into scrapes and bits of trouble. She was always an enthusiastic kid, but was often too hyper for the other children to handle.
She often stayed at her grandfather’s when her mother was out of the country for business. And she adored listening to her grandfather’s stories of his life working on the farm. She admired him, but her mother often told her that it wasn’t good work for someone like her.
When her mother had to move out of the country, she didn’t take Clover with her, so she ended up being adopted by a man who she came to accept as her father. After that, she had a relatively normal childhood and teenage hood with some small disasters and dramas.
After finishing school, she had went immediately into a job at Joja after finishing school to start quickly making money. Unfortunately, it was absolutely not for her. She despises the place and company with a burning passion for basically burning her out within a year.
Clover moved to Pelican Town in hopes of continuing the life her grandfather had left behind for her, heart filled with dreams and determination. She struggled a lot at first, but after time, she worked things out. And here we are now…
Last month, I also watched the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 100th Anniversary short film Once Upon A Studio, and I loved it.
It’s not the story I liked most; it was nice and cute, but nothing revolutionary or unexpected. What I loved was seeing and hearing all these familiar characters, especially the 2D-animated ones, again. I’m a fan of hand-drawn animation and really miss it, so I was happy to experience it once more, even if it was only for a few minutes.
I love traditional animation because it’s always felt more magical and “personal” to me. I missed seeing a character on screen and thinking, “I know who drew you”. Here, when Louis (The Princess and The Frog) appeared, I recognized his original supervising animator Eric Goldberg’s work. I also knew that impressive shot of Peter Pan and the Darling siblings flying around the building could only have been animated by James Baxter (his brain works in 3D; I don’t know how he does that but it’s always mind-blowing). And as a fan of Mulan, seeing her not only being animated by Mark Henn, whose style I think is unmistakable and who was her supervising animator in the 1998 movie, but also holding hands and singing with Snow White (the first Disney protagonist) and Asha (the latest Disney protagonist) was quite special and moving.
What’s also great is that you can tell they tried to remain as faithful as possible to each movie’s original visual style, which means characters, for the most part, really look like they’ve just come out of their respective films. Graphically speaking, the numerous protagonists all have their own identity (it clearly was the artists’ goal, and I think they achieved it), but the whole thing still looks surprisingly coherent. The vast majority of the original voice actors are back, which is a very nice touch as well.
I don’t know, I just think the care, skills, and passion of the people who worked on Once Upon A Studio were palpable, and that felt good. Their attention to detail is evident, and as someone who grew up watching hand-drawn animated movies and truly loves the artistry behind them, I appreciate that.
I want to gather my 11 year old self into a hug and say look. Look at all the love waiting for you. Look at all the friends who care about you unconditionally and love you tenderly and unironically. They text you good morning and good night and say hey I saw this and it made me think of you and ask do you want to take a walk with me this week? Look at how God hears you and knows you need this. Don't listen to the lie that you're not worth it.
they shouldn't let me stay up past midnight bc then I start identifying every single problem I've ever had. No solutions found. Net zero personal progress and 0.5 hours of sleep are achieved
