What if that happens? Like, some demons wanted the child of the Great Sage for some nefarious reason and to keep it hidden, they planned to replace the kid, but they fucked up.

And now Jackpot is 30% certain only one had been born, but 70% are like 'hey, free baby' XD

I'm also reminded of that brief moment in Good Omens, where the Young parents see the accidental extra baby and are like "Yo, is that a twin?" and the nurse doing the antichrist-baby-swap panics like "Uhhh..."

The Jackpotshipping twins also don't know whos the "bonus" of the pair. The spell used to create a perfect copy of the bio baby is really powerful & rare and doesn't wear off like a hair-clone does. No way of knowing who was a freebie unless you ask Buddha himself.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Blood Bound

Chapter 6: Sea Of Souls

After riding for 35 minutes, bird boy and the general finally reach the port, the which is full of Outworlder citizens. Nico, having been used to Earthrealm and it's standards, feels a bit uncomfortable.

ROBIN: Wow, so many people here... you sure we'll find the right man here? 

MUCHACHA: I'm certain of it. He should be somewhere around the docks, and if not, the locals should know his location. Just ride along, and let me handle this.

ROBIN: Sit still, let you do the talking, got it.

The two leave their horses near the entrance of the small town, heading off to the pier. It is here where they meet Kharon, one of, if not the best captain in all of Outworld, who Muchacha is quite familiar with. The two meet up with the sailor, who is leaning against the side of his ship.

MUCHACHA: Hey there, Kharon. Long time no see. How are things at sea?

Kharon, turning around and looking at the two, is surprised.

KHARON: Oi, Muchacha. How long has it been, a year? Anyways, to answer your question, everything is great, though not much work has been coming my way.

MUCHACHA: Hey, listen, I need you to do me a favor. Could you give my friend and I a lift to an island in the west side of the sea? We need to find a blood mage.

Robin is a bit suprised at the fact that she called him a friend, blushes a bit under his mask.

KHARON: Sure, I can give you a ride, BUT I won't carry anything illegal. I don't want any trouble.

Robin, looking up, sees the ships and starts walking. He gets distracted by the sights and sounds. The general follows him.

MUCHACHA: Don't worry about anything illegal, old friend. Just a simple favor. Now, about the price?

KHARON: Well... Since this is you, I will give you and your friend here a discount. What  say you about 40%?

MUCHACHA: Make it 60.

KAHRON: 50. Take it or leave it.

MUCHACHA: Fair deal. When can you have us off the coast?

Kharon, looking at his pocket watch.

KHARON: I can get us to the islands by the evening, how's that sound?

MUCHACHA: Perfect. Robin, lets go.

Robin, who is distracted, snaps out of it.

ROBIN: Oh, yeah, let's go. Nice to meet ya, Kahron.

Muchacha grabs him and starts heading off. Kahron’s crew members pull up the anchor, open the sails, and Kahron shouts out the following

KHARON: Sail ho!

The ship sets sail as the general and rogue make themselves comfortable and brace themselves for the ride. Muchacha leans on the ships wooden railing looking stoic as she stares over the horizon, and Nico tries his best to keep his balance on the rocking vessel. Noticing her on the other side, the masked man slides over to her, sitting on the railing. 

ROBIN: Sooooo… you enjoying the view?

MUCHACHA: Why are you acting nice?

ROBIN: Look, I’m not acting, I’m actually tryin’ to be nicer to you. Considering that if I don’t, you’ll feed me to the sharks. Or whatever is in here...

He says, as he turns around, looking down at the bright green ocean, with hundreds of souls spread around the ocean, with some of them trying to grab onto the ship.

MUCHACHA: Souls. Of all those who drowned in the sea. Imagine souls in a place called the Sea Of Souls.

ROBIN: Figured. So, you got any plans for when we get this job over with?

MUCHACHA: I’m getting back to work at the front lines.

Robin, showing an unpleasant expression started mocking her lightly, because it worked so perfectly the first time.

ROBIN: Is all you do work related? Don’t you ever kick back and catch some rays?

The general, showing a disaproving scowl toward the caped crusader, turned her head.

MUCHACHA: I can’t afford to be lazy. I only have one goal, and thats to change the way people look at me and my species. I’m trying to be a person who would protect the people from people like that cyclops who attacked the palace half a year ago. I wasn’t there when the Kahn needed me the most, what if I’m not there when she’s dying? What if–

Robin raises his tone, trying to slow her down.

ROBIN: Calm down!

Muchacha, looking at him stops, as she’s getting over her head.

ROBIN: Listen, Kitana will be fine. I’ve worked for her long enough to know she’s capable of herself. Look, believe it or not, I was a lot like you.

MUCHACHA: Now you’re lying and not even trying to hide it.

ROBIN: I’m not! Just… listen, okay? My people were slaughtered in cold blood, afterwards I didn’t know what to do or where to go. I was scared because a boy was wanted for the murder of five guards.

MUCHACHA: That boy was you, I presume?

ROBIN: Yes. Soon enough, the mage Dorfen took me in and... I was never alone again. Years go by, I work for Kitana, getting rid of late night assasins and chilling on the roof, rent free.I always re-think if I’m able to fight some of these guys, though I don’t look it.

The daughter of Shao Kahn realized now why the masked man tried to kill her a few days ago. Knowing this, she still doesn’t know how to react, so she forgives him. Sorta.

MUCHACHA: I… forgive you.

Robin, quite confused,  makes the following exclaim.

ROBIN: I’m sorry, you WHAT?

MUCHACHA: Forgive you. For trying to assasinate me, that is. You have one thing that stands out from other fighters i’ve met, an honest soul and a strong will for what is right. And I can respect that in a kombatant..

ROBIN: Well thats two things but, thanks anyways–

Before their dialogue is continued, there is a loud crash on the ship. Looking out to the sea, they see a ship with a black flag atop the sail.

MUCHACHA: We’re under attack!

ROBIN: Phew! And good timing, for a second I thought people would start shipping us over this scene.

Muchacha, holding her sword out, looks at Robin with a weird expression.

MUCHACHA: What the hell are you on about?

ROBIN: You do NOT want to know! What we need to do right now, is get rid of these bozos before–

A spear is shot right between where they’re standing, reeling the ships closer to one another.

ROBIN: That, before that.

The people would climb onto the ship with a plank, drawing their blades towards Kahron and his crew. Soon enough the captain of the opposing ship would walk out.

CAPTAIN: Good afternoon, gentlemen. Now that we have the formalities out of the way, leave this vessel or suffer greatly.

ROBIN: Guessing you’re the captain of this here “merry crew”?

CAPTAIN: You’d be correct, bird boy.

Amara would start chuckling, and this would be the first time that Nico saw her do this.

CAPTAIN: And what’s so funny, fish-looking thing?

MUCHACHA: Oh you know. The funny thing is, that you think we give in that easely.

CAPTAIN: … what?

As he said that, the daughter of Shao Kahn drew her sword, slicing a pirate’s head off. Robin jumps back to the other half of the ship, taking out his phone and playing a sick toon to fight to. He takes out his daggers, stabbing and slicing men left and right. Kahron’s crew is trying to get away from the bloodshed if possible, because they left they’re weapons below the deck. While Muchacha slays the pirates with minimal issues, Robin flips around, kicking and stabbing jobbers wherever he can.

CAPTAIN: They’re killing you bozo’s! Do something useful for once!

Muchacha, pulling her sword out of a dude, heared Robin’s music and is confused but intrigued.

ROBIN: You like it? Its Earthrealm music.

MUCHACHA: I don’t quite understand it, but I find it amusing. When we’re done, show me more of this music.

She says, as her sword slices across the chest of a pirate, and the caped crusader wipes blood off his dagger.

ROBIN: Will do, chief.

As the two stab and slash along, Muchacha was kicked in the stomach by the captain, seeing as most of, if not, all of the pirates were either injured, killed or tossed into the sea.

CAPTAIN: Well, seeing as I can only rely on myself, I’ll do just that to kill you two.

As he did that, Nico’s favourite song kicked in, hyping him up immensly.

ROBIN: Oh, ho ho. Alright, buddy, now you fucked up, PROPER!

Robin would run up to the pirate, doing a back handspring into a double twist, and landing on his chest, fliping back and kicking him in the face. Lighting his daggers on fire, he starts beating on the captain with every imaginable attack possible, wether its kicking, or punching, not minding if he breaks his bones, he would kick him to the plank he boarded Kahron’s ship on. 

ROBIN: hope you’re ready for a fatal blow, bastard, ‘cuz I sure as hell am.

He throws his daggers at the pirate’s chest, drop kicking them through and guiding them above them. He then kicked him into the air, and with a snap of his fingers, the daggers launched downwards, stabbing his chest and wind pipe and droping him on the floor. Muchacha gets up and leans on the guardrail to see what happens, and what happens is Robin picks up the captain and tosses him into the Sea Of Souls.

MUCHACHA: Woah…

ROBIN: Impressive, right? Now, you oka–

His sentance was interupted by the board breaking and Robin almost falling into the Sea Of Souls.

MUCHACHA: ROBIN!

She says, as she grabs his wrist as and looks down upon him before he falls into the sea. Robin looks down to the sea with great fear and then looks back up at Amara. She pulls him up, while Robin pushes off the side of the ship with his feet to get back up on the deck.

MUCHACHA: Don’t worry about me. What about you?

ROBIN: I’m, fine, i hesitate to say. My anger took over me, I don’t know what happened.

MUCHACHA: Well for one, you killed the captain, and almost lost the chance to interrogate these fools about why they attacked us, which is why i left one alive. But also, did you do that because you… cared for me?

Nico, scratches the back of his head, thinking of something to say.

ROBIN: Well, you ever heard the phrase “I’d kill for you”?

MUCHACHA: Ooh, fun.

ROBIN: Don’t get too excited, we still don’t want people to draw us together like we’re a couple. Don’t ask me what I'm talking about, you DON’T want to know!

The two turned to the pirate on the ground, preparing to interrogate him

MUCHACHA: So, how do we do this?

ROBIN: How about some “good cop, bad cop”?

MUCHACHA: How’s that work?

ROBIN: Good cop is acting nice to the criminal, whilst the bad cop is more violent. When I say that, I don’t mean stab him in the brain, I mean threaten him at worst.

MUCHACHA: Understood.

They walk up to the criminal at sea, ready to ask him some questions. Muchacha pulls out her sword, pointing it at his neck.

MUCHACHA: WHO SENT YOU!!!

Robin slowly pushes her aside.

ROBIN: I’ll take care of this. Spill the tea, bud, who sent you and your mostly dead buddies?

PIRATE: Well, I was gonna tell her anyways but you’re quite nice so I'll tell you willingly.

Robin eyes Muchacha, who then rolls her eyes.

PIRATE: We were sent to stop you by a wizard by the name of Xandras. I only know he doesn’t want his work undisturbed, and that he has some boy captive that he needs for some devious plan or something, I don't know further.

Robin and Muchacha exchange a look, both thinking the same thing. They look back at the pirate.

MUCHACHA: Where's he located? Give me coordinates. Now. Or I'll make sure you won't be able to swim away from this ship. And that's a promise.

PIRATE: H-He's on an island, about 10-15 kilometers South from here?

the caped crusader put his hand on the pirate's shoulder, smiling under his mask.

ROBIN: Thank you, friend. You've been of great help. Muchacha? He's all yours.

Muchacha, grinning and showing her sharp teeth, cracks her knuckles and the pirate gulps.

i cant pick one, but i associate with you libraries and books and sleep token😇 (which i only know because of you btw!)

It's so nice that someone sees me on the dash and goes 'yeah thats my books and libraries phone person' because like.. that's the base of everything, being both my profession and workspace. I spend 60% of my days between old books and i'd love to think they are somehow becoming ingrained into me. Consuming books by osmosis. 💪😂

I also hope i wasn't a bad introduction point for Sleep Token because i know one day i just snapped and i barely post anything else since. 😂 In my defense there wasn't much to do about it, they just came back around into my life at such a perfect moment and with the fact that soon after i was able to catch them live twice just rewired my brain a bit. A fair bit. 🙈

seeing as ive already given my opinions on the entire mario timeline, i may as well do sonic. no, it will not be as in depth. why? because oh my god have you ever tried piecing together the sonic timeline??? dont.

basically, i believe most alternate universes to be canon. and by the way, if its an au i havent enjoyed, im not counting it lmao.

i like the generations version of things, where the classic games are when they're all younger. i'd say sonic's probably about 12, tails 5, knuckles 13 and amy 11. robotnik can be about mid to late 30s at this point and i cant be bothered with any other characters lmao

and before someone goes 'bit odd that sonic's eye colour changed lmao' ik but like it reminds me of my brother. he had the same colour eyes as me when he was a baby (really dark brown) but now his eyes are hazel (or, as my dad calls it, 'autumn'). i also like how the only reason they specifically chose green was for green hill zone. i think that's really sweet.

i also like to think the OK KO crossover happened about here, if not, very early on in the modern games. maybe sonic underground??? actually, no, i dont think sonic underground could be canon.

the modern games happen in the order that they happen in. dont ask me about the weird bit. actually, just dont ask at all - nobody knows what to do with this bit. im also counting the idw comics as modern games seeing as they're apparently canon now? yeah idk either.

as for fleetway, archie and any other comics i cant think of, i havent read them, i dont know.

for the ages, generally, sonic's 15, tails 8, all canon ages, yada yada EXCEPT for amy. i dont like amy being 12, so in my head she is 14. i dont even ship sonamy, just the entire thing of her being 12 when sonic is 15 and those two being probably the most canon sonic ship out there that isn't technically canon (STOBOTNIK DOES NOT COUNT JUST IN CASE IN THE FUTURE ITS EVEN MORE EXPLICIT) really makes me feel grossed out.

oh yeah and seeing as he doesnt have a canon age, robotnik is vaguely 40.

this is mostly where actual theory comes into play, because before this point its like, yeah? we knew that? i get that sonic boom is an alternate universe, but i... i like sonic boom. i like it a lot. so it's canon in my eyes. tbf they do all look and act much older, so i'd imagine boom is a future where they're all adults. as of posting this, sticks has only just been made canon, with that mention in frontiers, so if she really does end up in any mainline games, they just happen before this. probably. i dunno, maybe they'll ruin this entire portion.

i think that robotnik is probably late 40s, early 50s by this point, and tbf i think the main cast overall is only rough suggestions, because i could imagine sonic boom happening over the course of a few years. sonic is probably about 19-25, knuckles 19-26, amy 17-24, tails 11-15, and im pretty sure sticks is about knuckles' age canonically? so we'll say she's 19-25.

i get that shadow is 50 and whatnot, probably about 55-60 at this point, but i generally think he's like, a few months older than sonic if we're going based on why we count age (experience and stuff), so probably 19-26, like knuckles.

this is where i think most crossovers take place: mario & sonic, all the weird sega sports games from the late 2000s to mid 2010s (im looking at you, sega all stars tennis/sonic and sega all stars racing (but specifically for the wii (because thats the best version))), stuff like that. with the mario timeline, i said most crossovers aren't canon, but with sonic, anything is possible! because of that, the only crossover than comes to mind that definitely wouldn't be canon is smash, and thats because smash is canonically a kid playing with their toys.

im like mixed on shadow's casting for sonic 3 actually. i cant tell if it was just because people thought of like. "ok whos the most popular actor ik that can voice shadow" or like "yeah wouldnt it be funny if keanu reeves voiced shadow in the movies"

ive seen test animations of shadow speaking keanu reeves lines out of his mouth. and like, if it was back when keanu reeves was alot younger, yeah, i can see him voice a shadow thats on par with sonic (since it seems like shadow will be the only new sonic character introducted in the sequel from all thats been dropping from cinemacon)

but also keanu is like. 50 going onto 60 now. im so tired of shadow perpetually sounding like a rugged 40-something year old. i WANT shadow to sound like an angsty 20-something year old in college!!! he shouldnt sound like The Punisher, he should sound like Neo in The Matrix (1999), not Neo in The Matrix Resurrections (2021)

PARALIVES and my thoughts about it

A video of live gameplay has already launched today as a trailer/ teaser and is set to release in 2025. Great!

I have already came up with a name for Parafolk aesthetic style of CC: PARAPAIRED ( u like? yeah? )

-I hope the card system is more expanded than just chance and probability I'm not sure if most the game has autonomous interactions and only little user input but it reminds me of call to action chance cards (is cards the word for it?)

i like the calm feeling but looking forward to chaotic moments out of the players hands

i can tell there will be a no outline mod invented lol if not a toggle

curious as to how modders will be implemented and if there is a importing program planned

I personally don't like the UI style...its round in some places and square in others. the simplicity throws me off a bit when it's not much going on, hopefully the tutorial clears that up.

social tab has relationships but they didn't show TYPES of relationships nor for this social tab..

Why do we have to stay bound to notifications that is crucial to gameplay in a small box on the top right corner of the screen? why havn't any devs understood hover popup boxes about characters are the way to go!!!

there seems to be 1 type of tone of voice, would've wanted to hear voice diversity than just 2 mins of the guitar music skill diversity

the breakdown with levels of ways parafolk know each other is really nice, 'm curious about a cap for it?

i don't think the word 'townies' for game generated NPCs should be used, legal wise..as people will constantly hype up the game to be a rival to sims which = more public exposure = risk of snitches

free EPs sound like EPs will be very small and add on things that the game will probably not include as a prebuilt game meaning the cost of all the features will be in the full release. i expect this to be around $50-60$

we did not see actions being cancelled and starting a new one while doing another interaction in 'queue' assuming they do not multitask as of now or ever?

these are mostly my observations for now but I do like the in game lighting very bright warm saturated and consistent. I did not see any physics no wind, hair, nor furniture physics hoping those come with the game.

thats all i have to say on this , looking forward to it's progress throughout THIS year since it is set to release 2025 we should be getting more footage and updates as time goes.

oh I'm gonna check my grades!!! im like failing two of my classes currently but one of them im BARELY failing the other is like 50% or so idk let me check . its actually more like 60% ish but the other class im failing is 69.7% and 70% is passing soooo im basically passing! i have 4 As and 1 B!!! don't think I'm smart though my first 3 As are two band classes and woodshop then there's english which is easy cause it's just memorization!!! then the B is Spanish (surprise high schooler takes a spanish class but wait theres more) 2!!!! GOT CANCER. WENT SEPTIC. ALMOST DIED. the single most influential event of my LIFE this is why i am so patient and like positive or whatever bc literally nothing is worse than almost dying. that shit SUCKED. anyway i knew i wanted to do SOMETHING in oncology but it took me years to even begin processing that shit and i worked FOR YEARS after in a meangirls viper pit i refer to exclusively as babyhell (daycare (derogatory)) so it took me a hot minute to really figure myself out.

DISCLAIMER that i am the kinda person who makes life choices QUICK AS SHIT bc i know myself really well and i have a pretty good sense of what i want. idk if u can tell but im a v fast pace kind of person so when i decided to become a nurse it was in like a 5min stretch of Thinking and then i was just like Yeah this is It. my RAPID FIRE thought process in those 5 min was basically is this a field where my personal attributes and experiences can make a positive impact on other ppl?? the answer was YES. i also thought CAN I MAKE MONEY?? the answer here was ALSO yes. TWO BIRDS, A SINGLE STONE.

in baby hell i WAS making positive impacts on kiddos and their families (several families left when i left bc of how much they trusted me blah blah) but like it was NOT rewarding to me. too much stress too little payoff bc i love kids but they arent my PASSION u feel?? ALSO pay was TRASH GARBO. ANYWAY when i thought abt working w cancer patients or people who i could relate to in terms of life/traumatic medical experiences it was something i immediately vibed w bc i knew that common ground could facilitate meaningful therapeutic interactions in an otherwise massively stressful environment.

for me, personally, its a matter of giving back. my oncology nurses fucking ROCKED and made me feel like a person during a time where even well meaning ppl reduced me to a pitiable diagnosis they could use to fuel their tragedy porn. i wanna PAY THAT SHIT FORWARD, so even working medsurg, the most NOTORIOUSLY MISERABLE AND SOUL SUCKING type of nursing there is (memes abt medsurg nurses wishing for death or being dead inside or crying every shift are TOO REAL) i still dont regret becoming a nurse and still find meaning and satisfaction in it even during shifts that make me feel batshit miserable and soul sucked.

choosing a Job or a Career doesnt need to hinge on WORTHINESS or POSITIVE IMPACT or whatever, ig its like what you find fulfilling!! and also not necessarily what youre GOOD at (eg a lot of GOOD AT DRAWS ppl go into art/ani industry and fucking LOATHE it every day. this is why i did not go to art skool). theres that pressure that u gotta figure urself out young as fuck blah blah etc but life can be long!!! you can go turtle pace. there were several 50-60+yos in my nurse school cohort!!

i am trying not to get soapbox pep talky here. anyway i only am an insane fast track nutbag bc i almost died, so basically thats how i make all my life choices.

here is a lil bit of fun fashion history i learned today and thought might be interesting to share;

so if u know me or have followed me p much anywhere online for the past few yrs especially u probably know i really do not like wearing a lot of modern style clothes (for the most part at least) and if i'm able to i prefer to get thrifted/pre-owned clothes from a whole bunch of different eras (also because Clothes Are Expensive and even if i did prefer modern styles i cant afford a lot of them normally unless huge sales are going on) but primarily my fav styles tend to be anywhere from like late 50's to mid 70's. i am disabled and have been my whole life and i only started being able to have any kind of income of my own in like late 2020 or early 2021 which means i have had a little bit more independence to find cool old clothes that i can afford and actually enjoy wearing, so thats been a huge positive change for me and my identity and getting to feel more like my Genuine Self by passing along clothes i can't or didn't want to wear now in my mid-20's to make room for fun vintage stuff i actually do want to wear.

lately i've been trying to find vintage nightgowns that are both clean/in good wearable condition and not expensive and a few days ago i happened to stumble onto a listing online for a super pretty light blue nylon nightgown in great pre-owned condition for $10 and was like oh my god thats awesome i need to get that; it came in the mail the other day and here's what it looks like:

(the lace is much more white irl, my house has very yellow tinted lighting and my bedroom walls are like the same color green as my comforter sheet here so it tends to make things look more yellow in pics than they actually are lmao)

its got super stretchy elastic around the bust & waist as u can see there so its pretty versatile with the fit and i am just in love with the general style and shape of it so much, very Edwardian Revival which i have a decent amount of in my closet cus i love old takes on even older fashion styles. so anyways i was folding it to put in my pj/nightgown drawer in my room and happened to notice it still had its' original tag on completely in tact on the inner lining near the bust/arm area and found one of my absolute favorite logos to find on vintage clothes tags:

Ladies Garment Union label!!! (International Ladies Garment Workers Union or ILGWU was a large clothing union group that made a lot of vintage clothes thru most of the 1900's and had a lot of different styled and colored tag logos like this on all their work over the decades), now there was not detailed info on the listing for this nightgown when i got it but the seller listed it as 70's era based on the style i assume, which i would've been fine with regardless of actual decade i just rly love comfy retro styles haha, but i was like yeah i can def see this being a 70's nightgown that checks out from my personal experience, but since i just noticed this label tonight i wanted to see if i could find a historical resource list of the different Union logos online because i have quite a few that look almost exactly like this specific tag and almost all of the other ones with it in my closet are from some time in the 60's.

so i found an awesome list with both info and example pictures of the Union tag logos throughout the decades from a site called sammydvintage and i was able to actually pin down the production date of this nightgown to less than a year of when it was made!!!

i know from my own experience that a lot of the 60's to early 70's era tags didn't have color printed on the logo yet so i was pretty sure it was from that general era and sure enough on the reference site i saw a pic of this same style logo with a timeline of 1964-1973; i was satisfied enough with that knowledge and was like yeah makes sense, this is probably early 70's towards the end of that.

NOPE! i read a little more on the page and it mentioned that the example picture on that site had a small (R) on the left side next to the logo, and that the R indicates the tag was printed after the Union trademarked the logo on April 21, 1964, so if you see a tag with that design but no little R, it was made *before* the logo was trademarked. sure enough, if you look at the pic i took of this gown's tag, there's no little R trademark next to the logo!

which means that, according to this site's information which seems very accurate and in-depth, this dress was made anywhere between June 28, 1963 (when the logo design changed from the previous version) to April 21, 1964. how cool is that!?!? i've never been able to ID such a specific less than a year date for a piece of vintage clothing i own before, and i was like 10 years off with my original guess lol!

it would be much more difficult to pin it down further obviously but knowing that new info, if i had to make an updated guess, i'd say this was probably either a Spring (of '64) or Fall/Autumn (of '63) fashion release since it's long and has sleeves but they aren't full-length sleeves and the nylon material is comfy but pretty thin for winter night-wear (it definitely could be though of course, i wouldn't be surprised if this was originally part of a multi-piece set that may have included a similar looking robe, sheer cape, or 'house coat' layer to wear over it since sleepwear sets like that were a very popular thing in 60's nightgown fashion)

i also thought it was cool in that '63-'64 was around the general era of this Edwardian/Victorian/Medieval Regal revival type trend having its early start which eventually helped popularize the style going into the remainder of the 60's and even further into the 70's with the eventual rise in popularity of brands like Gunne-Sax which has kind of become a cult classic icon of 70's 'cottagecore', 'prairie', 'medieval/regal' revival dresses from that era. that '63-'64 date timeline also makes complete sense in a more widespread pop culture way that i can't un-see now that i know when it was made; the 1965 movie version of The Sound Of Music was one of many popular pieces of media from that time that contributed heavily to the general popularization of this mod regal revival dress style, and if you changed the poofiness of the sleeves and lowered the length of my blue nightgown here, it has SUCH a similar silhouette structure to Liesl's "gazebo" dress from the '16 going on 17' music number from that movie:

(bonus Fun Fact Within A Fun Fact: Mitski drew inspiration from that dress when she was working with the costume designers/creators for her 2022 tour outfits and had them made in 4 different colors all together, i believe. its a very good dress 💜)

anyways!!! i just wanted to share this fun deep dive into vintage fashion i unintentionally went on tonight because i am so excited to have learned so much information from such a random nightgown thrifting find. i have a huge special interest not only in the history of vintage fashion/trends/pop culture but also archiving that history and investigating the origins/influences of seemingly mundane bits of every day life in the past so this was such an awesome and exciting discovery to me! definitely makes me want to take out my other clothes with the various Union tags still on them and see if i can narrow down more detailed years for those pieces too 🥰

Elvis (1979) review

So i have a LOT of shit to say on this one. Spoiler free above the cut, gonna GET REAL below the cut

This is a made for TV movie by John Carpenter (yes, that John Carpenter) It's 2 hours, 48 minutes, so it's a long watch. It covers Elvis's young years up until Vegas so in that way similar to Baz's flick. But it's different. It doesn't have Baz's direction and goes for a more naturalistic directing style with moments of drama. Which is both good and bad (I'll get to that later)

Before I get to anything else, I have to praise Kurt Russell's performance. Especially on stage, he captured so much energy. And in the quiet moments as well, he did a great job, especially in the early years.

But I have... several bones to pick with this movie. Spoilers below, it gets heated

THEY DIDN'T COVER HIS DRUG ADDICTION OR TOM PARKER AT ALL.

Ok ok ok, thats the part that miffed me the most, but let me go back for a quick second.

What I do admire about this movie was that it captures the 50s pretty well. Showing how Red West saved him from bullies in the bathroom, that really happened. Showing 'That's alright' coming out of fiddling around during a Sun Records session, that really happened. As well as Elvis's controlling/erratic behavior in the 60s, him being the center of attention and people having to bend themselves for him, yes to an extent that is close to the truth.

I do like that they were real about him, that part of his life had a light shown on it because he was a person with many sides and just showing him at his best isn't fair, of course.

However.

Look, I'm not going to pretend that all of his negative behavior can be explained away with drugs. But drugs had a big impact on his sense of paranoia and aggression. That on top of health problems on TOP of being famous, changed him. To just not show any of it makes his outbursts seem so random, it's dishonest.

And to not show the controlling nature of his manager is also leaving out a big chunk of the story. Tom Parker made it his business to make Elvis Presley into a brand. He did not care about music, he was a promoter and getting money was what he did. Of course in the year this came out it wasn't widely known what he did, but only skimming over him paints EP in a bad light.

And finally.

They fucked up the portion of the movie that covered his 70s career.

So they DID NOT EVEN SHOW THE 68 SPECIAL. It was mentioned for half a second in one line then not brought up again, then shows him going up to Vegas, presented in a way like this is his downfall. Which. No.

Okay, for cultural context. At the time 1978/79 when this movie was made, his Vegas run wasn't looked upon kindly by now. Already the idea of 'Vegas Elvis' was being made into a statement about him falling off. Which makes some sense, by 77 his health problems were catching up to him in a big way.

But come the fuck on, Framing 1969/70 like it was him selling out is so disingenuous. I'm not going to pretend I was there but just seeing Elvis: Thats the Way It Is, that is a man that is revitalized, alive, full of creativity and ready to go. He was in a career renaissance at the time and on fire.

By the end point I was rubbed all the wrong ways.

Kurt Russell was great. But... yeah, this movie dropped the ball on some major parts of his life.

There’s this one artist I like who made a clothing line a year ago and it was like, affordable and cute!! I mean yeah $60 is expensive for a shirt but it wasn’t Just a t-shirt it had more going on and that’s nothing compared to Most clothing lines. Most of the pieces from this persons line had really neat embroidery things and were just altogether high quality. Every order came with stickers too it was cute!!! I feel like Awstens is just going to be. Cheaply made t-shirts for $100

thats rly cool like id be down for that!!!! pete wentz dropped his ronin line like 2 years ago and everything was very reasonably priced for a fashion line!!! i got a couple things!!! he specifically said he intended for it to be an entry point for people who dont know much about jewelry but want to get into it and he priced it accordingly!!!! i rly love my ronin necklace hehe

i dont think the pieces awstens shown so far look cheaply-made per say but i think hes approaching it like “THIS IS A HIGH FASHION LINE” and hes going to set prices like an established popular brand might...... and the only people willing to pay those will be hardcore fans of his already :/ esp since hes already said he plans for every drop to be “super limited” or 50-300 pieces per item..... like hes getting ahead of himself frankly

they’ve gotten into a few fights but nothing could ever tip him off as to who he’s pissed off so badly that they wanna rip him apart (human wise anyway)

its only after he and val get closer and eventually start dating. he brings her to meet his parents and maddie immediately takes a liking to her and starts teaching her hapkido. either danny asked since the cujo incident, sam and tuck have ghost weapons but val doesn’t or val asked herself, either way maddie happily agreed

then one of the next run ins with the red huntress danny has to work with avoiding new improvised attacks with hapkido worked in and it hits him like a bag of bricks

Day 1: Nutcracker.

Yeah, I basically joined Nutcracker Month since I heard its a bit of a christmas tradition on Tumblr.

This pink-haired boy you see right now is Prince Saragona Levoy. (Sorry if you feel offended because he's flipping you off.)

He is a bit of a brat but once you get to know him, he'll probably show you his true feelings. Trust me, Annabella has it down.

He wants to break his curse so he can finally "prove" that he is fearless but being cursed for years may come as a challenge. Especially when your Marie (Annabella Levoy) isn't from London but instead is from Hawaii, USA.

"Drosselmeyer," I asked impatiently, "Why does this nutcracker look like someone I know?" I look at the nutcracker from a different angle. Something about this certain nutcracker seems to catch my eye.

Day 4: The Mouse King

You all know the Mouse King, he's the main antagonist of the original nutcracker story and literally almost every adaptation has him. But what if I told you that this Mouse King is different? Now I'm gonna be talking a lot so brace yourselves.

The Mouse King is actually Saragona's brother, Lucas Levoy! (Plot twist, I'm gonna add a lot of these.) Lucas was the general of his father's army and he is basically a bratty royal. (At least we know where Saragona got his brat personality from)

Lucas and his army won against the mice in a fierce 3 year battle while Saragona was like 5 years old when it ended. Lucas had reigned supreme but not before one night when Madam Mouserinks (at least thats what I remember, or as some people call her: The Mouse Queen) proceeds to place the curse on Lucas, turning him into a giant mouse. He couldn't even fit into his clothes anymore. Not even his own father could recognize him.

The only thing Lucas got from his father was a slice off his right ear, and the boot out of the castle. He was put under despair and as 10 years passed, the kingdom had forgotten about him; especially with the death of the Mouse Queen being announced. The verge of his sanity blew away from his once calm, bratty self. All he wanted was revenge.. His mind had gone insane.. He'd want to kill everyone.. Everyone in the kingdom who forgot about the Mouse-ified general who had defeated the mouse army before he got cursed.

Lucas succeeded for a while, cursing Annabella when she was only a baby to be the most ugliest thing alive but then his brother, Saragona, broke the magic nut and freed Annabella from her curse. Lucas became furious, and then his insanity went off the charts. He "visited" Saragona, only for him to chop off his brother's long hair, dye it pink, then turn him into a nutcracker. After that, he killed his father; consuming his corpse, leaving no trace of his body. All Lucas needed next.. was the young princess.

And before u ask, yes he was born with red eyes and sharp teeth. It's from his dad's side.

"LUCAS," I heard Saragona yell while he held his mighty peppermint sword, "LEAVE HER ALONE!" The Mouse King growled at him and snapped, "YOU WILL REFER TO ME AS THE MOUSE KING YOU HUNK OF JUNKY FIRE WOOD OF A BROTHER!" Brother? This confused me. The Mouse King is Saragona's brother? It shocked me for a moment until I felt the mouse king stick his bloody fingers toward my chin. I began to sweat like mad crazy. "SURRENDER BROTHER, AND SHE GOES FREE! DISOBLIGE TO MY ORDERS AND SHE BECOMES MY NEXT MEAL!" I was dead-meat. However, Saragona ignored and while the mouse king wasn't looking, he grabbed hold of me and began to protect me like what the actual nutcracker did for Clara.
