There is no implication whatsoever that he treated Malleus like an adult either the one clear retelling of his childhood Malleus tells Yuu is literally Lilia being nurturing after Kid Malleus makes a mistake, if he was being treated like an adult they wouldn't have been so lenient and gentle in telling him off

Like regardless if Lilia was only being held to babysitting Malleus by Mallenoire and Levan and not something he initiated... it means he still did help raise and babysit him???

We don't know the details of how much he softened around Malleus after their deaths vs how much he softened around Silver but I swear this argument reads like "Tsundere character says they hate love interest. They definitely hate love interest it's definitely not the story hinting they mean something else to what they say/they grow to genuinely care about someone they initially dislike"

The levels of reaching twst fans go through to justify finding "romantic implications" in explicitly familial relationships is so weird im sorry. His desperation for Lilia to not leave in Book 7 isn't romantic either have you never been scared at the idea of your parents leaving you lmao

Malleus and Lilias relationship is so much more complicated than father son and honestly i don’t think they are father son or anything close to that

Lilia was probably still mean old war gen Lilia when Malleus hatched, I doubt he was doing any proper nuturing to Malleus as he dislikes kids. Knowing Lilia he saw it as repaying a favour to Mallenoire and Revaan. I personally interpret Malleus’s upbringing as Lilia treating him like an adult and therefore he and Lilia have more of an underclassman upperclassman relationship.

But I think it gets more complicated than that. Specifically when Silver came into the picture, being that Lilia seems to still be Malleus’s primary princesitter Mal would’ve been around. I’m gonna say that Lilia wasn’t his war general self but definitely wasn’t our current Lilia when he took Silver in. I do believe he was craddlenapped from a human royal family, specifically the one that was faught in the human-fae war. But that’s not this posts topic. Being that Malleus is around I think he’d get roped into babysitting Silver and that babysitting would soon turn into straight up parenting which ends up changing Malleus and Lilias relationship to more of that of a married couple.

In the point of the story where Yuu is iseksied I’d say they’re still in that “married non romantically bc we have a kid together lol” dynamic

When you turn back to face him, he continues, “besides, it is you, who seems to show up where I go.” 

The large ballroom suddenly seemed a lot smaller, more crowded, as couples spun around on the floor. You glance along the sea of people, despite the loud chattering combined with the soothing melody flowing from the piano, plenty of gazes seem to linger around you and your current dance partner. 

Scoffing, you turn your attention toward the man in front of you, “and I suppose I am to lounge at home whilst you are out buttering up the young ladies of the ton?” The remark was supposed to be sarcastic, but it came out as more of a complaint. Kai cocks an eyebrow at you as he lets go off your waist to take a step back, you do the same before giving a small twirl of your gown. 

When you reconnect he grins, “does the thought bother you?” You can sense the mockery in his voice and his words make you want to roll your eyes. “Hardly. In fact I do suppose I feel sorry for the young lady who you are to court.” Kai’s expression flickers with a small glare as he twirls your around once more, this time he pulls you back harshly. “The same ought to go for the man willing to court you, oh wait-” he pauses as a smirk crawls to his lips, “there has yet to be one.” 

Your lips part in objection before you realize that he is right. This would be your second season and you had yet to even acquire more than a glance from any respectable man. You supposed that a lot had to do with the fact that Kai had managed to scare half of them off by the beginning of your first season — and he seemed intent on keeping it that way. 

He notices the scowl on your face and his smirk widens further. “Watch your tongue, we wouldn’t want to cause a scene now?” His mockery only spurred you on further as you surged forward despite the move not being incorporated in your dance. “You..” you begin but trail off as you notice the increasing glances sent your way, no less by your very much diabolical families — who remained seated as far from each other as physically possible. 

Kai huffs out a short breath, tickling your face as he does. “Don’t get lazy on the remarks now”, he drawls as he pulls you flush against his chest, drawing a small yelp from you. “Don’t you think we’re a little too close?” You mumble as your eyes dart across the room, finding almost every couple looking your way as low murmurs filled the room. 

Paying them no mind, Kai shrugs. “No. Do you?” Your gaze flickers back toward his menacing expression and your jaw clenches. “I reckon we’ve been closer.” The chuckle that escapes his lips causes your heart to flutter as you fight to remain composed. 

As the dance comes to an end, you’re quick to tear yourself away from Kai as you rush toward the beverages, in desperate need of something to cool you down. In the midst of gulping down your second glass of champagne, a few ladies your age hesitantly approach. You recognize their lingering glances from the dance floor and you know where their interests lay. 

Before they get the chance to speak you interrupt them. “He’s a terrible dancer”, you say as you wipe your lips with the back of your hand. “Way too rough and he keeps walking on my toes”, you complain as you watch the young ladies' faces morph from curiosity to slight disgust.  

Kai wasn’t unattractive, nor was he of low income; in truth he was a desirable man and you knew that many ladies of the ton fawned over him. The thought alone made your stomach churn. But with the excuse of being long time family rivals came plenty of opportunities to fend said ladies off, whether it be lies of his bad breath or uncoordinated moves on the dancefloor, you usually managed to shoot down any opposing threats. 

You knew that Kai did the same, it was why you had yet to receive any callers. You just hoped that the small lies about each other would be enough to fend off any suspicions from high society. Your own families on the other hand, was a far greater issue and as the young ladies bowed to take their leave, your old maid clears her throat behind you. 

“What?” You mutter as you reach for a third glass. She doesn’t say anything as she gives you a knowing glare to which you roll your eyes. Your gaze wanders across the ballroom to find Kai with his arms wrapped around one of the many young ladies. She smiles as she leans into his touch, batting her eyelashes at him in a disgustingly desperate manner. 

Biting the inside of your cheek, you set your glass down as you excuse yourself to the ladies room. Your maid begins to trail behind you to which you spin around on your heel, “I do not need a chaperon with me for the ladies room.” You huff as she eyes you with much distrust. Cocking an eyebrow at her, you stand your ground. “Unless you wish to hold my dress for me?” Your old maid purses her lips before inevitably giving up and retreating toward the rest of your family. 

The bathroom was down a secluded hallway and you took your time as you passed the many paintings adorning the walls, making sure to eye each and all carefully. Once you had shut the door to the bathroom behind you, you leaned against one of the cool walls as your eyes fluttered closed. 

It doesn’t take long before you hear the faint sound of footsteps approaching. Your eyes remain shut as the bathroom door clicks open and it isn’t until it’s closed once more that they peer up at the intruder. “You should know better than to leave the door unlocked”, Kai muses as he locks it behind him. “Anyone could’ve walked in”, he adds as he eyes you with a small smirk. 

You quickly push yourself off the wall as you march up to him, slamming your lips against his. “I knew you would get here before anyone else”, you mutter as your fingers make quick work of the buttons on his dress shirt. Kai chuckles against your lips as he lets you take out your suppressed emotions on his garments. 

Breaking apart from the kiss, you push his shirt off his shoulders, the tip of your nails dragging across his bare chest. Your gaze flickers up to meet his, “who was she?” the words come out as a faint hiss and Kai’s amused expression only fueled your anger. Leaning in to press his lips against your neck, he hums against your skin. “No one you should worry about.” 

His words brought you little comfort but he didn’t give you any time to object as he pushed you up against the cold tiles, making sure to hike your dress up in the process. Your hands moved to your bosom as you untied the neat bows holding it together, letting the silk falter to expose your chest to him. Kai groans when your fingers in his hair guide his head to one of your nipples as he attaches his lips around the bud. Back arching off the ceramic walls, your hands grab fistfuls of his hair as Kai swirls his tongue across your breast before nipping gently at the soft skin. 

Moans of reassurance and praise leave your lips as your eyes flutter closed. Within short his lips are back on yours as one of his hands finds its way between your bodies to unzip his pants. As the tip of his cock presses against your folds you suddenly break apart from the kiss to look at him, your hands on either side of his face. 

“Was she someone special?” You ask, unable to let go of the young woman you had previously seen him with. Kai’s brows draw together as he stills, “are you actually intending on having this conversation right now?” he groans to which you bite your bottom lip. You could admit that the timing was a little off but you needed answers, and you weren’t sure when else you would be able to get them. 

Upon your silence Kai impatiently snaps his hips as he buries himself inside of you, drawing a breathy moan from your throat. His lips reattach to your neck as he pulls your skin between his teeth, keeping a steady pace of his hips as your hands move to his broad shoulders. “I don’t know who she was”, he grunts between thrusts. 

Your head falls back against the wall behind you as your lips remain parted, allowing the small noises of pleasure to escape them. “A family friend of sorts, I didn’t care to catch her name.” His pace increased as your nails dug into his back. “Yet she was clinging to you like a whore”, you practically seethe. 

“Fuck, I love when you’re like this.” Kai groans as his grip on your thighs tighten. Your fingers grab ahold of his hair as you pull his face up to your own. “Shut up.” You hiss as you slam your lips back onto his. You can feel him smirking against you as his thrusts grow sloppy. He catches the moans and whines that leave you as you come on his cock, pushing his tongue inside your mouth as he rocks his hips against you.

Thats all. However if you go back you'll see that Mitch and Verne were romances. and I do still have soooome plans for them to be sub-romances, but as of this point I think 6 romances are enough. The reason why Mitch/Verne aren't romances is because I realized having a total of 8 + a poly was just... not going to work for me. I did some restructuring in order to make this project feasible for me to actually complete and give each romance the time they all deserve. I also moved Harper up from being a secret romance to coming in much earlier in the story. Which leaves us with 6, and no poly romances. I'd LOVE to include them, Verne especially, but the role they fill in the story at this moment is small enough that they can be dropped. Sorry, but it'd just be too much for me. If I end up making a patreon or something I'd consider moving one or both back to a main romance. but rn they're just side characters.

I just saw a very interesting post about the difference between how todolf shippers look at todolf as a fantasy vs how elisatod shippers look at elisatod as a fantasy and i wanted to throw my two cents in regarding elisatod in canon, but Im feeling a lil shy so Im not reblogging it, and this is a pretty small fandom so Im sure youve already seen it or will see it if you just keep scrolling down. In case you havent, the gist of it is that for a lot of elisatod shippers (and for a lot of the people in charge of the more recent german-language productions) one of the biggest appeals of their dynamic is this idea that death doesnt love anyone except for Elisabeth which makes her special, whereas with todolf its more like. Im having a hard time summarizing it in my own words, I guess i personally would say that its literally just the inverse where todolf shippers think that death has a romantic relationship with everyone (or at least everyone who thinks a lot about death and dying) so the 'specialness' of it doesnt matter/doesnt factor into it, its basically just about their dynamic in a vacuum, but i dont think thats what the post was saying ? Whatever, we're talking about elisatod rn so it really doesnt matter

So, for me the most important thing about the love between Elisabeth and der Tod is that its pretty much unrequited until the moment she dies. Like, we have a brief moment of mutual interest when they first meet and she sings the little Wie Du reprise and (in the 1992 prod) he gives her this suggestive look after shes done, but after that its basically all him pursing her when she clearly does not want that, until Rudolf wo bist du where she is finally ready to give into him, but now he doesnt want her, and then they only really fall in mutual love when she dies and they basically have no other choice. This friction where they can never really be in mutual love because Elisabeth never wants to lose her agency or control over her life until she doesnt and tries to give it up, and Tod only "wants" her when shes clinging on to life and rejecting him, is the core of their relationship.

Now, you'll notice that i put the word 'wants' in quotes when i was talking about Tod and thats because i dont think he, as originally witten in the vienna productions, is capable of wanting anything because hes not a person, hes a reflection of the people around him and because of that, his behaviour in any given scene is determined by the context around him. I know thats kind of a clunky way of phrasing that, but I have to do describe it in such a broad and vague way because his behaviour is really not consistant. For an example of what Im talking about, in Elisabeth mach auf mein Engel, he tells Elisabeth that he loves her but hes only doing that in contrast to Franz Joseph; her husband comes up to her trying to burden her with his own problems when she's feeling bad and in need of comfort herself, meanwhile death is offering her unconditional love. Another example that I like is in Die Schatten werden länger reprise, where he has to start the song because Rudolf is too paralysed by fear to articulate his feelings until he has his support

But the moment of death's behaviour being influenced by the people hes interacting with that I find the most interesting, is his introduction during the prologue where the people he's interacting with are the audience. Because during that part of the song, hes essentially playing into the audience's expectation that Elisabeth and death will be a traditional soft tragic romance, hes talking about her in a very gentle and wistful way and in way that subtly implies that she was the only person he ever loved, but then during the actual story, hes treating her very aggressively and their relationship is honestly pretty unpleasant, and we can clearly see that she was not the only person he ever loved because his and Rudolf's relationship is just as intense in a similar overtly romantic way (and arguably more so because its mutual and requited). But then obviously we got Kein Kommen ohne Gehen which essentially contradicts all of this and severely clashes with the entire rest of the elisatod relatio ship, but its late and if i start complaining about that, Im gonna add another 2 paragraphs to this post

So yeah, these are some of my thoughts about elisatod, i have a lot more but its 2am and i just soent two hours writing this and I can feel my brain turn into mush, so yeabh. please let me know what you think

another one i wanna recommend is 10 Firsts by OsByLynn. i read it almost a year ago so my memorys kinda fuzzy but i remember it being rlly cute!!! its a buncha firsts for the couple, like first kiss, first ily, etc n its SO sweet n fluffy n adorable. plus theres a WEDDING n i am a SUCKER for weddings. i'd argue all fics should have a wedding. every single one.

another fic i wanna mention is i know my pain is such an imposition by aesthetes. it follows gavis recovery, n again i wanna reiterate that i havent read it since it came out in december so my memory is KIIIINA ass but i remember it being SUPER sweet. plus the title is a taylor reference so. immediate brownie points.

EASILY one a my favorite pedrigavi fics. the story is so well written n cute n funny n the format oh the FORMAT. its in a script / screenplay (idk if those are interchangable so film majors pls forgive me) format n i LOVE it since i like,,, visualize things in my head as a movie?? if that makes sense?? anyways yeah mandatory pedrigavi reading.

would you still love me? by arianagrandebrainrot is v funny n v cute. revolves around an important, relationship make-or-breaking question. feels like a conversation these two would have.

oh n as an obligatory plug theres my fic i want to be loved (not to be touched). but if we're being honest w ourselves this is less pedrigavi n more gavi being sad while simultaneously being in love w pedri.
