Buck goes on a plane disaster research binge after Athena lands. He had already looked at every reputible internet article he could find about flying because of his pilot boyfriend.

He discovers the unsolved D. B. Cooper case and becomes absolutely obsessed. He takes his research to Athena because he is convinced they can solve it together. But she never wants to think about planes again, plus she is fully aware of the case and how convoluted things have become over the years so she refuses and tells him to drop it.

Buck, being Buck, convinces Tommy to fly him along the route the fateful plane took. They visit the spot some of the money was found.

Tommy is fully aware that he and Buck can not "solve" the case, but the quality time is worth it. Plus, he will do anything to see Evan Buckley excited and happy. And if indulging his latest obsession makes his boyfriend happy, he'll do it.
