Panel 1: [A black background with text.]

Gaster (Internal Monologue): Alright, the… mechanism is in place. I’ve checked my calculations several times. Everything is in order.

Gaster: I must remember… this is the only way I can easily get the amount of magical… material required. There are no other wide and solid places on my body that are easily accessible… aside from my skull, which is not an option. This is the only way.

Panel 2: [Dr. W. D. Gaster, wearing a dark grey sweater, sits at a table, notes scattered about. He’s breathing nervously, starting at his left hand which is strapped down in front of him. Above his hand is a machine labeled “LAZ-O 2000”. It’s a laser cutter.]

Panel 3: [A close-up to the hand that is strapped down. There is a red dotted circle across the wide bone plate that he has instead of metacarpals. A red laser dot hovers over the dotted lane. To the side is a “Danger” label, meaning he should probably keep his hands clear of the laser.]

Panel 4: [Gaster nervously regards his hand, breathing heavily and gripping the edge of the table.]

Gaster (IM): I’ve done the calculations. There should be no effect to my dexterity. I can withstand the damage without putting myself in danger. I know my conclusions are correct.

Panel 5: [Gaster picks up a leather wallet.]

Gaster (IM): There is nothing to fear.

Panel 6: [Gaster places the wallet between his teeth to brace himself.]

Gaster (IM): It’s only five seconds.

Panel 7: [Gaster bites into the wallet, breathing heavily, as he slowly reaches towards a green button beside him.]

Gaster (IM): My hand is in place, and the mechanism is ready.

Panel 8: [His hand hovers shakily over the green button labeled “START”. Below is a Red button labeled “STOP”, but it’s been taped over to prevent him from pressing it.

Gaster (IM): I just need to… press the button…

Panel 9: [He’s nearly frozen in apprehension, his hand still hovering, wallet still clutched between his teeth, his eyesockets lightly tinged in dark purple magic, denoting his fear. He’s almost hyperventilating.]

Gaster (IM): I just need too…

Panel 10: [Through labored breathing, Gaster takes a deep breath and makes a fist. His eyes are strongly glowing a deep purple color as he bites down on the wallet.]

Panel 11: [With a ‘thunk’, his fist hits the green “START” button.]

Panel 12: [The laser begins cutting into his hand, precisely following the dotted lines with the whirring of a mechanism and the buzzing of an activated laser.]

Panel 13: [Gaster is screaming in pain against the wallet, his eyes clenched shut with red magic pouring forth, a manifestation of the hellish pain he is currently going through.]

Gaster: (nearly indecipherable WingDings; screaming] HGGHHKDN

Panel 14: [The LAZ-O 2000 shuts off, slowly whirring back into it’s neutral state]

Panel 15: [Gaster is trembling, the wallet having fallen from his mouth. Behind him, he conjures two hands made of blue magic. The hand on his left has a hole in it, replicating his physical hand.]

Panel 16: [Gaster presses his right hand to his face, his eyes glowing a light yellow color, which usually denotes stress, or perhaps it’s his default color and serves as a self-soothing mechanism. His magical hands have gathered the bone disk sample, and placed it in a small capsule with blue fluid.]

Gaster (IM): …One down…

So for how much control Gaster has over his emotional state, what WOULD it take for him to accidentally (or on purpose??) glow around the boys?

I thought about this for a while, and eventually after some effort I came up with two scenarios where Gaster would glow at all, although neither are probably what you had in mind. Here’s the first one.

Punching big weird holes in your hands comes at a price! If you do them both at the same time you’re probably going to pass out Gaster, take a break.

Purple is fear, and I’m thinking about Red for pain. Yellow is usually stress/fear, but I’m also leaning towards that being his “default” color, so he’s glowing yellow to calm himself down mostly. Though he is also pretty stressed out.

This is “canon” to handplates, so to speak, but I feel kind of weird linking it directly into the timeline since he doesn’t have his lost soul head and that feels really strange to me, and it might be confusing to go from normal head to lost soul without an explanation. But you wouldn’t be able to see him glow with the lost soul head, which would defeat the whole purpose! Tough dilemmas. Well anyway, this would obviously be before the brothers were made, so it’d be set before they woke up.Incidentally, you’ve seen the red dash guidelines he draws before.

One may ask why he isn’t using any kind of anesthetic but let’s be real here, there’s a bunch of you who’ve wanted to see him suffer for a long time for all the awful things he’s done and this is the perfect opportunity, so how could I deprive anyone of that?

I think it would honestly be really hard for him, I think he wouldn't realize they were shadows at first but once he notices the yellow eyes then he's like "oh you guys are just shadows excellent I can fight you now"

But before that... it would be pretty rough for him ngl, I'm not exactly sure what Shadow Yukari would say to him, maybe something about his loneliness as a kid? But Shadow Mitsuru? She is going right for the jugular telling him he'll never be anything more than a pathetic excuse for a Kirijo and that he'll always be stuck in mommy's shadow.
