Even in the final scene of her story after she takes over the tavern and it's all lively again, Jiu Niangzi is still depicted alone with a lot of empty space around her.

It's only in the main event story that she's surrounded by others -- and even then, no one is really looking at her, and she's not looking at anyone. Nobody realizes what she's done, what she's about to do.

Which makes this scene retroactively hurt more. Now everyone's facing her -- seeing her.

ok now that i've loved on all the good bits of reverse 1999 (and there's plenty of good) i gotta touch on the elephant in the room too

the english tl is... iffy at best, but to put it plainly it's not good

i would say the story is largely readable, though there were a few parts i genuinely couldn't parse. main issues are in grammar (particularly tenses) and flow, the writing just doesn't sound organic

but it isn't every line that's a problem, some are fine and some are genuinely good. and the overall story/setting are pretty good (well, decent enough) for a gacha so really the english text just needs a polish

like... a major polish, but i really hope it gets it because the battle system and character art are pretty appealing and i'd hate to see this one tanked by its translation

TL;Dr : Reverse 1999 is great

So since yesterday I’ve been playing Reverse 1999 because I was interested in the story. Honestly I’d say this game is pretty good overall! The story is cool, the gameplay is fun and interesting, and the characters are really fun, not to mention the character roster has a much more unique and diverse cast than Genshin (sorry Genshin). So for this post, here are some of my highlighted characters:

Sonetto is pretty sweet, plus she has cool attack animations. She’s also a free five star you get in the main story, which is neat :3

Normally i dislike Tsundere characters because they can be annoying, but Matilda is an exception. She also has pretty attacks, plus she’s kinda funny so I like her.

Leilani is currently my favorite, i just love how cute and energetic she is! I’m really glad shes for free, even though she’s a 3 star :,)

Currently one of the MVP’s of my account. Does decent damage plus provides solid healing, an overall comfy unit for me. It helps that she reminds me of Diluc. I dunno why but characters who represent justice/judgement always appeal to me in video games. Maybe it’s because of their strong presence?

Mondlicht is another favorite of mine (even though i have trouble pronouncing her name ;-;). I really like how she’s a balance of cute and stoic, it reminds me of Razor (not 100% sure if they’d get along tbh). She also has an axe gun so she’s easily top tier lol.

Ok so from what I’ve seen on the internet, his name in the English language is spelled “Zima”? I think? Lemme know if I’m wrong. Anyways yeah, I like him a normal amount. He’s just a peaceful, possibly sleep deprived lil guy with an owl, you can’t compete with that! Plus he sounds like he struggles with speaking english, unsure if that was the intent but it’s a very cool detail.

Sweetheart makes me feel a certain way, plus she’s a really nice Dps. Her design reminds me of Betty Boop a little bit. Her voice is nice too, it really sells the kind of character that she is.

Pavia’s interesting to be sure. He reminds me of Childe with his murderous tendencies and unmatched charm. For real though, this guy is a borderline psychopath, the voice lines will tell you that much 0-0

La Source is a decently comfy healer, definitely worthy of the MVP status despite being a 3 star. Plus I love how sassy she is, she can be pretty funny. That being said, she’ll probably be benched as soon as I get my hands on a better healer.

Idk if you're into genshin (I get if not lol) or how much you know about it.

But one character, Bennett, has terrible look but is still extremely driven by his goals and hopes to achieve them one day. Seriously he's way too optimistic for his own good (/aff)

When you originally mentioned anti fairies causing bad luck and feeding off hope, I instantly thought of him

God, yeah, he'd get anti-fairies too. Practically anybody that's emitting bad luck would attract them! Thankfully, Anti-Fairies don't really go out to the human world much thanks to Irep and Anti-Cosmo's doing.

kamicity ensemble not being a gacha rhythm game is so refreshing & i wouldnt change that for the world i love that the ranking is skill based and not based on what cards u've pulled from gacha BUT ALSO not getting pretty new full screen art of the isotopes & witches every once in a while on rotation feels like a big loss

If there is at least one thing I can credit FE for doing better than Tales in localization, it's not trying to actively go out of their way for an entire game to avoid subtext or direct text between two men that is romantic or implied romantic. Funny when it's so present that the attempt doesn't even work; infuriating that it was attempted to begin with.

So as much as I often have issues with some of FE's localizations, at least they have a leg up on loc Tales for that.

its been a long time since i found a game that had me excited for whats to come

this is a me thing that im talking about below... usually when i play games, its mainly about it preoccupying my brian with tasks and goals. this is why i gravitate towards sim and management games! to me thats whats enjoyable

i feel like its rare that i just play something just cause its fun to me if that makes sense. and i think infinity nikki is managing to do that like im not progressing through the story super quickly and kind of just letting myself explore, dress up and take pictures at my own pace and im really hoping it stays like this for me for a long time
