imagine being rlly good friends with yuji like you can hit him has a joke without him yelling or giving you looks, so one day you partner up with him for science project u have make a space diagram "easy" you guys both say it in sync like a twins you decided go to yuji house , because you find his house comfy.. nah you just wanted see his two brothers, sukuna and choso. its wrong liking two people at same time BUT even worse liking your own best friend brother, not like you date them but why do you always turn there way?, why do you always bring them up when no one mentions them?, yuji dosen't know and you think its best he doesn't besides? yuji wouldn't want see you and his brothers together defiantly not

oldest sibling sukuna would have a girlfriend, a lovely one you can't help but feel a little jealous of. she's so sweet and they're so in love you feel a little bitter seeing them riding off in his motorcycle when you come to visit yuji after school.

middle sibling choso would welcome you into the house and offer you all your favourite snacks leaving you confused and a bit flustered since one of your all time favourite snack is found only in a convenience store far away from their home. he'd keep you company while yuji takes his time to come downstairs and if his hand accidentally brushes against yours while he hands you a mug of your favourite juice, you force yourself to look away and try to hide the red tinting your cheeks all the way to your ears.

youngest sibling and your best friend yuji would observe this scene unfolding on the stairwell. he never thought of his older brother being so giddy, especially for his best friend but he knows how much of a good person you are and if he were to have another potential sister in law, he thinks you'd fit that spot perfectly.

the more i think about season 4 klaus the more upset i get

no, you do not have to be on drugs to be flamboyant and energetic, and i don't like that they're implying otherwise

klaus' character was never because of the drugs, his setbacks and difficulties in life were!! it made it harder for him to be himself!!

and yes ofc overcoming addiction is HARD and i'm not expecting him to be the same as he was before, but they made him seem so.. pathetic..? for trying to be sober? if that makes sense?

his struggle with germophobia pissed me off because it felt like one big joke instead of an actual thing he was having a hard time with

and it's almost like they took away his queerness with the drugs? they took it away in general but his sexuality and gender identities were just completely gone until he relapsed, so he was allowed one dick joke to solidify the "return to his old self"

you don't have to give up yourself in order to overcome an addiction. an addiction does not define you, it's a struggle you overcome in order to be the best version of you. i hate this show for doing this to klaus and telling the audience that your addictions make you 'funnier' or that trying to overcome an addiction is just 'a joke.'

i know it ultimately trails back to the corporations but i just wanna say i think it’s heinous that old heterosexual men are STILL seemingly always in showrunner positions for major television shows, or at least they are always the ones getting their ideas greenlit. and so the most accessible popular media (the narratives we collectively see) are determined by these dudes who do not relate to You. they don’t care about what or who You’d like to see represented onscreen. sometimes this is affected by diversity in the writer’s room, etc., but for the most part everything must be dumbed down to what THEY THINK an average middle-american audience member can tolerate—and it’s insulting to everyone’s intelligence! It’s nearly 2025 and we’re all supposed to accept that certain kinds of stories are not worth telling (on that scale) because why? because it’s potentially alienating to a demographic that already has decades of screen representation to enjoy?

SO let’s talk about how showrunners/networks are well aware of viewership demographics and the profitability of fandom. Take a show like wwdits, where a lot of its notoriety had to do with its general edginess and, importantly, its appeal to LGBTQ audiences: the creators intentionally featured a mlm will-they/won’t-they at the center of their show, to the point that it was arguably the driving force behind continued viewership. It’s the carrot on a stick. “How will we keep profiting off of these queer viewers? Make them hope. Textually suggest the prospect of a fully realized gay romance and then tease these viewers for making ~homoerotic fanart and fanfiction~ like that wasn’t the plan all along!”

Your fanwork, whether it’s drawn or written, is free publicity for the source material. You Need To Know that. Because the corporate bastards Have Known That. that’s why supernatural was on for 15 seasons. Not because the plot itself was worth that much, but because the supporters of the central gay ship MADE it profitable. And baiting them only fans the flames (basically, it drives people crazy. spn still trends on here like once a week, 4 years later). & they want you crazy. they want online engagement. they want it trending on tumblr and twitter. They believe that if they give you what you want (canon gay rep) then the show will instantly lose profitability.

So. That’s what it comes down to. Your dedication means nothing to them but job security... and if you dare to take the bait and hope for the writers to fulfill what they VERY deliberately set up, they’re gonna straight up mock you. In the end, they’re just gonna fumble all of it, because they never cared about You or even the characters and their stories. Why bother if it doesn’t seem profitable anymore, right?

God it’s all so cynical. Keep writing fanfiction. Keep making fanart. Keep engaging in fandom spaces. Do it because YOU have passion. Do it because YOU care about a story or characters that mean something to you. Do it because we, as the folk, as the common people, need to have some way to control these narratives. We need to create our own hope, even if we get belittled for it. It’s all we have to combat the cynicism.

One of the issues with 23.5 is that the message they wanted to convey was extremely different from the message they showed.

I don’t know if anyone that follows me would even fall in this boat but I need to say this. Especially if you’re younger but you don’t have to be young for this.

If you are queer and in the closet, you are not wrong for hiding yourself or keeping secrets. If anyone is angry at you because you are not out or not ready to be out, that is their issue that they need to work on. But you are okay to stay in the closet for as long as you need to or would like to. It is your choice for when you’re ready and there is no world in which you are in the wrong for not being ready.

And no matter what the hell the show was trying to say at the end, having confidence in yourself (while great) is not the same as being ready and willing to disclose your queerness. You do what’s best for you on your timeline and just know that there are so, so many people that support you and whatever decision you make.

hey so maybe i have a horrible memory and there’s a perfectly good reason for this that i can’t remember. but now that i think about it why did they have chozen take johnny around to look at rentals as if he’s chozen’s child that has never been on his own before and can’t handle normal human interaction. why would johnny not have gone with carmen, miguel, and robby to look at houses considering they’re presumably the ones that are going to live there and raise a newborn there?????? why do they all (and the writers in general) treat johnny like he’s completely incapable of doing anything ever???????

like i get that if the whole show was 100% realistic we wouldn’t really have a show (because let’s be honest, 90% of this show would just Never Happen), and i get the ‘comedic’ value of those scenes i guess, but come onnnnnn pleaaaaaase

i know some people are absolutely incensed that Arcane dropped the ball on the classism and discrimination and poverty and all those plotlines they had introduced but the truth of the matter is that Arcane always framed any type of Zaunite insurrection/revolution against Piltover in bad lighting and claimed that any fight/war for the freedom and wellbeing of future generations is ultimately evil because it gets people living right now killed

Vander is the most sympathetic Undercity leader/hot shot only because he is supporting Piltover's superiority and oppression of the Undercity. he has a deal with the cops to ensure that he will keep his people obedient and subservient to Piltover and the cops. he aids the status quo and thus Piltover's exploitation of Zaun; he never encourages pushing for change in any manner, violent or non-violent, instead always pressuring those around him (esp Vi) to just take Piltover's scraps and mistreatment because you wouldnt want to lose your loved ones, would you? (which is just like, a threat. an actual threat that figures of authority like cops make to their victims to keep them inline) Completely ignoring the fact that people in Zaun HAVE, ARE, and WILL BE losing loved ones to police brutality, disease, toxic/radioactive exposure, famine, poverty, gang violence, etc. BECAUSE OF PILTOVER.

Arcane is/(started out as) a great show but it was always most sympathetic towards Piltover and the status quo. it never pushed for Zaun's independence/freedom in any meaningful way--and whenever it did deal with Zaun potentially becoming its own nation? it didn't show the power of revolutions, of class actions, of uniting and protesting and fighting back--it just said that if you sit your ass down tight and let the oppressive government shit on you enough, you might eventually be granted some rights--unless you fuck it up with a rocket, of course. but that's not how real life has ever worked

not only that but any attempt at fighting back is literally shown as being plain violence for violence's sake. we dont see or hear anything about how silco or vander planned on rebuilding the Undercity/Zaun, how they wanted to expand infrastructure, how they would support the people and keep them safe--Arcane doesnt paint revolutions as the complex operations they are, they just show us the violence of them and nothing else. like really, all Silco wants to do is use Shimmer to scare topside--but that's not how revolutions or fighting against opressors works! because Piltover will be scared, yes, but that just means they will double down harder on all the violence and restrictions. that's obvious. not only that, but lets say Piltover gets scared and retracts from Zaun completely--Zaun seems to be heavily dependent on trade from Piltover to get what they need to survive. Silco doesnt mention anything about how to fix that. and that to me just plays on harmful stereotypes about any and all kinds of social movements. all of the real work is reduced to violence.

i dont think he realizes that the reason no one gives a shit about his apologies and honestly just straight up ignores them is because EVEN IN THE EVENT THAT THEY ARE TRUE he's been proven to lie soooooo many times to the point where you really cant believe a word that comes out of his mouth. he says something and im like "damn maybe i was wrong about that one... i'll look into it" and you get more info and go "oh. he just made that part up. and misworded that. and lied about that part... oh it was actually WORSE than i initially thought!"

Controversial opinion, but I think at least in our modern-day life, it's more progressive to have an unlikable female villain depicted in media. I'm kinda so tired of making and watering down every female villains goals and motivations by slapping on some sob story (that often times comes off as more sexist...yknow your typical "she's like this because she lost her kid or her husband or is infertile" or some other bs) and making her morally grey last minute. Especially when the whole point of the plot was showing how said female villain got to be an irredeemable asshole who would trample everything in her way. You can't suddenly build her up to be a stand-in for...idk the complexities of facism or capitalism, idfk maybe even a stand in for the devil himself. Then strip away a that progress with no build up.

Like a bit of a side note but I partially blame this on a new age of writers as well where while it's good to want a lot of nuance and grey areas to explore with villains it's become the norm to ALWAYS make them sympathetic. The goal from these writers have shifted from " let's make the most perfect fit for a villainous antagonist to oppose our main good guys" and more so "how can we make everyone who watches this love every single character to maximize positive outreach and profit. How can we get it so this piece of media attracts fandom more than it attracts people to a story" if that makes sense.

Writing has taken a sharp turn (especially in animated media) to write with things like shipping and fandom in mind. Like God forbid I want natural character progression and subtle insertion of character tropes that get built on that aren't someone just marketing these 2 character as sunshine x grump. That's what fanfic is for. Because no hate to fanfic (I write it a lot myself and have seen beautiful pieces of work) but it's so weird to see every book or show act like they don't need to build up everything. Like this is a fandom and show we all watched and get the inside jokes of.

But anyways back to my point, I've think we've been losing the unique charm of having fucked villains we come together and hate. Hate so much that you come to love and respect them for the amazing roles they play in their respective stories. And that's partially because of everything I said above. At least personally.
