(I just saw a video on my dashboard that made me honestly feel so many things. I thought at first to respond. Then I thought to just tag it. Then I decided that no, I will not help it to move along on Tumblr.
I watched the entirety of it; it was of a man expressing his anger and frustrations about the election in terms of how "you survived Trump once, you can survive him again" and how Biden was the one who has massacred the people of Palestine. I watched all of it because I felt I needed to, that any feelings I had initially should be filtered through knowing the entirety of the 6ish minute long video. This despite the fact that he makes a point of saying how it's "more bombs than Hiroshima, more bombs than Nagasaki".
I am half-Japanese. I was born in Japan, my entire paternal line lives in Japan, they are carpenters of traditional Japanese style. I am Japanese-American in that I live in the United States and my mother was American but I was a Japanese citizen first and I will count myself as Japanese until the day I die. I cannot express how absolutely disgusted I felt when he said that, as if the number of bombs made one humanitarian disaster worse or better than the other.
I want to believe that is not his intention, that he didn't mean to make it sound like he was comparing disasters; I want to believe that much of what he said throughout the video was his anger, his frustration, his pain and sorrow and disappointment in what the states has allowed and accepted. But it doesn't change the fact that we cannot control what others make of us and our actions and words, and his words had that ring. As he denounced Biden, who does deserve it for not being willing to make a stand against Israel through all this, he puts it all at his feet, instead of at the feet of Netanyahu. Actually in that whole 6ish minutes he makes no mention of Netanyahu at all. I cannot speak to the full context, what else was going on, what else was said, only what was given.
He speaks of us surviving Trump once, we can survive him again but whether or not we can isn't the point and I won't go into it. I'll just finish by saying that it was a very emotionally raw video, extremely so. I feel for him, and I agree with much of the heart of the sentiment. But I cannot agree with the words used or the argument made, not when that argument is built on what sounds so much like a fundamental misunderstanding of the actual state of things here in the states, of what we actually have had to continue to deal with because of him. I agree that the two party system has royally fucked us. I agree that we shouldn't be giving our votes to people who would sanction the horrific events in Gaza, secretly, by not taking a stand, what have you. I agree that there is an implication of playing dumb when we ignore what is happening over there. But we have no choice anymore; we are not standing at the beginning of this race anymore, we are nearing it's end, and the time for better choices and better chances and better lives is through. We either give ourselves to the wolves we know want to eat us or we give into the dogs who might prove to help us through the storm; I don't like it anymore than anyone else but for the sake of myself, the sake of my friends, the sake of the people I don't know who are sleeping in the cold and rain right now and the people who are facing the chance of dying because of what Trump wants to do to our government, has made it clear he and the Republicans want to do, I will choose the side of the dogs.)

I don’t care if you make fun of Catholicism as long as it’s accurate! The best humour has its roots in the truth.

“these characters should be mentally healthy before they get together 😌” ummm no I actually think we should smash their mental illnesses together like clumps of play-doh and see what colors it makes

truly the wildest thing about all the Bridgerton discourse about "is Nicola Coughlan too FAT to be a convincing love interest???" is that in many ways she actually looks better in the period costumes than her thinner counterparts because she has the figure to really fill them out. those dresses are incredibly flattering on larger bodies because they emphasise the bust and cleavage whilst creating a very elegant silhouette. there's something unintentionally hilarious about hearing pearl-clutching in the distance over "idk is this FAT WOMAN sexy enough to be believable as an object of lust??" whilst Penelope Featherington's majestic heaving bosoms are almost spilling out of her dress in a category 5 titty event. if anything she's too sexy. they had to spend the first two seasons putting her in ugly dresses in a desperate attempt to conceal the fact that she's serving more cunt than the entire itty bitty titty committee combined

So a lot of political scandals just dropped in the last 24 hours
-NC Governor Candidate Mark Robinson's online posts were found, including some VERY graphic descriptions (like seriously, do not read if you're not 18) of him cheating on his wife, calling himself a black Nazi, and expressing support for reinstituting slavery. His email address was also found on Ashley Madison
-Robert F Kennedy Jr was revealed to be cheating on his wife with a reporter (and that isn't even the weirdest thing since federal law enforcement opened an investigation into him allegedly cutting off the head of a whale and taking it home with him less than 24 hours ago)
-GOP Senate candidate who is the CEO of a bank has been found accepting millions of dollars from what seem to allegedly be Mexican drug cartels.
-Finally, probably the biggest bombshell, according to multiple eyewitness testimonies within sealed sworn affadavits, Congressman Matt Gaetz allegedly invited a 17-year-old girl to a drug-fueld sex party
And we haven't even hit October, folks. Again, these are all still breaking news stories, so things are subject to change, but oh man oh man.

A prefix is a language modifier that is added to the start of a word root to make a new word, like 'pre' in 'prefix' or 'af' in 'affix. or 'suf' in 'suffix.'
A suffix is a language modifier that is added to the end of a word root to make new word, like 'est' in 'greatest,' or 'esque' in 'picturesque.'
And infix is a language modifier that is added in the middle of a word to make a new word. Unlike prefixes and suffixes, formal English does not have any infixes, but informal English has a few which serve to change stress patterns and emphasis. "Abso-fucking-lutely" is a crass way to say "absolutely" in a manner that provides a connotation of extreme and obvious degree. In this case, "abso-fucking-lutely" serves as both an affirmative answer to the question, and a self-demonstrating example of the same. This, combined with the juxtaposition of a semi-formal environment (a classroom setting) and an inappropriate word (the 'fucking' infix) is a source of humor, as this is a legitimate situation to violate the social mores against cussing.
linguistics professor: so we've covered prefixes and suffixes. does anyone know what an infix is?
student: abso-fucking-lutely

ppl dont talk about the fact that even Daisuke's characterization is affected by Jimmy's unreliable perspective. He refers to Daisuke as a spoiled rich kid who has his mommy and daddy behind him, that he's impressionable and stupid, and i do see people kinda characterizing him like that
like he has these rich parents who will dote on him and give him everything, that he's an airhead who isn't good at anything...
yet in curly's perspective we see that he's good at board games, he's trying his best, he's trying to listen to swansea and learn from him. He did get the internship from his parents but not because he wanted to, but because his parents thought he wasn't going anywhere in life, that he needed to be doing something. Daisuke is silly and a positive person but that's just for show, we see in the scene where Jimmy finds him lying on the floor drunk on mouthwash, that Daisuke isn't doing well, he's scared and feels sad about his parents. He makes jokes to cope with the horrible tension on the ship.
people characterize him as a stupid little kid too much for my liking, that's how Jimmy sees him. As a spoiled brat who came on the ship just to be an inconvenience. Even Swansea didn't see him like that, sure he complained about him but in Daisuke's final moments we see Swansea's true colors and how much he actually cares for him. He's an adult, who's putting on this happy go-lucky persona because he truly wants to succeed in life, and he's doing the internship for his mom and dad even though he doesn't want to. So he makes friends, he tries his best, he wants to be on the good side of everyone on the ship.
Jimmy just saw him as an easy target, someone too trusting and easily manipulated. A stupid kid he can use to get what he wants. He even plays with Daisuke's feelings of needing validation from Swansea, someone he looks up to. He tells Daisuke that by going in the vent, he'd make Swansea proud.
Daisuke isn't someone who has it easy or someone who's a stupid airhead. Jimmy just saw kindness and positivity as weakness.

the funniest part of any Robin meeting the JL is that every Robin is so distinctly different from the previous one in terms of personality and vibes that the league literally gets backlash. and like, I don't blame them. not to mention that they are non-meta children that dress as a traffic light and fight crime alongside batman in gotham on a nightly basis. i'd also be a bit concerned. Batman, literally The Night of Gotham personified in the League's eyes, coming into a JL meeting: This is Robin, my crime-fighting partner. 11-year-old Dick Grayson, dressed in the brightest primary colours possible, vaguely hidden murder behind those eyes, never stops moving even for a moment: Hi! Superman: That's a child. That's-- Bats that is a child. You let a child--? Batman, deadpan: You try to stop him. Would you rather he try and murder a grown man with a wire?
Batman: This is Robin. 12-year-old Jason Todd, with the biggest grin on his face, about 3 books in his hand, stars in his eyes and a distinct street-kid drawl: Hey!!! Green Lantern: That's ... that's a different child. What?? Jason: I stole his tires :) Batman: Tried to. Jason, stage whispering to the League: basically did. Green Lantern: that is a different kid, right?? I'm not seeing shit??
Batman: This is Robin. 14-year-old Tim Drake, bo staff clutched in his hand, a wary and tired expression on his face, more on the quiet side, the literal walking definition of don't judge a book by it's cover: hello Flash: Where do you even find these-- Tim: I found myself.
Batman: This is Robin. 17-year-old Stephanie Brown, literally blonde, with a shit-eating grin, eyes full of nothing but mischief and the most explosive personality you've ever seen: hiya!! Superman: I give up. Stephanie: I know, I have that amazing effect on people.
Batman: This is Robin. 13-year-old Damian Wayne, a literal wet cat that will hiss at you, has a sword, the most judgemental stare you'll get from a teenager, ready to jump anyone there: Green Lantern: WHY DOES HE HAVE A SWORD?! Batman: ... he came with the sword.

Put salt in your baked goods. Put salt in your desserts. Just do it. Please. Salt isn't just for savory, it's literally a flavor enhancer so even a pinch can take a meh recipe to one people can't stop eating. Listen to me. Your cookies and cheesecake bars are bland and uninteresting. I'm taking your hand. I'm guiding you with a gentle touch to the back. We can do this together. Trust me.
