Friendly reminder that Annabeth was Percy鈥檚 mortal anchor when he bathed in the river Styx, and about a year later is the only thing he remembers about his life.
(馃幎my grand plan, is that I will be remembered馃幎)

Nico: I learnt that there is a special day today
Hades: And you came to my palace to tell me that?
Nico: The day is Father's Day
Nico *gives him a mug that says #1 Dad who can raise the dead*
Hades *raises an eyebrow*: You and your mortal holidays...
Hades: ...Thank you
Nico *smiles*: Happy Father's Day

HoO is so funny to me when you actually think about the ages of all the characters. Octavian is 18. Percy and Annabeth are 16, almost 17. Reyna is presumably 16. Frank just turned 16, Jason鈥檚 about to turn 16. Leo and Piper are like 15. Hazel鈥檚 like 14 and a half, and Nico is 13.
The Death Sibs are both the youngest and oldest on the Argo II. Octavian is a college freshman getting into petty drama with a bunch of high schoolers. He gets told to shut up at one point by a random 8th grader. Everyone is scared of the 8th grader. We Sent A 13 Year Old To Superhell and he came back weirder, Just Like Middle School. TLH was just three high school sophomores being sent to do a task and it going Exactly Like You鈥檇 Expect. Percy鈥檚 the only demigod on the ship who can legally drive (though Reyna gets her drivers license at some point before TOA). What Is Happening.
#pjo#hoo#heroes of olympus#riordanverse#my second favorite thing related to this is like every time Hazel references someone's age especially in SoN it's just. blatantly incorrect.#she goes into very specific detail about how she's 14. detailing like exactly how many months it had been since her birthday#and when she died and when she was brought back. just like ''okay. im 14 and a half. got that? good.''#''anyways here's Frank. he's 3 years older than me'' like literal next chapter. we are told Frank is not 3 years older than her.#Hazel: Here's my older brother! [Nico is younger than her in literally every way feasible]#ive just decided Hazel is an unreliable narrator who is just really bad at guessing/remembering how old people are#which like. adhd mood. forgetting how old everybody is.#and she has the bonus excuse of saying her sense of time is skewed from being a ghost for so long#but it's just so funny every time she's just. with the upmost confidence. blatantly the wrong answer.#i want a scene of Hazel looking at Percy and just going ''hm. I bet he's like 20.'' and then learns he's 16#and she's just [surprised pikachu]#also we know it isn't an error that she's 14 cause in TOA she's like ''oh yeah im learning to drive!''#so she's 15 by then#it is however an error that *Nico* is said to be 14 in hoo cause he's 12 in TLO and 14 in TOA#but we know in HoO the reason that error was made was cause Rick hadn't figured out Nico's birthday yet#and he was flipping it between January or March#so he just forgot how old Nico is for a series and then we went back to normal

Actually another Burning Maze thing I鈥檒l never ever recover from is the fact that Piper gets horrifically burnt in that book and has every reason to be afraid of being burnt again, yet when she sees Leo (who鈥檚 terrified of hurting the people he loves with his powers because of what happened to his mom) the first thing she does is melt into his arms without hesitation

"confirmed there was a slaughter of the TA demigods." I've read the books post TLO. No there wasn't.
actually, in the demigod diaries, it was stated that hundreds of demigods that fought by kronos's side were killed !! we even got a perspective from alabaster, the lone survivor. the demigod diaries isn't one of the MOST read of the pjo series, but they are completely canon.

I have a very specific headcanon that Rise of the Guardians exists in the same universe as Trollhunters
Which leads me to say, Jack Frost and Douxie Casperan met one day 300 years ago, and when Jack realized Douxie could see him, he's never left him alone since
Theyre best friends

haven't read sun and the star yet so unsure about rick's plans for the future but,,,,
there's SO much potential in writing something about the lost hero trio post-TOA. piper,, who's been struggling to adjust after all those major events and revelations in hoo,, is suddenly hit with jason's fate and is clearly even more confused and emotionally/mentally battered than ever. she's TRYING to move forward,, but knowing how she is at the end of TOA, there's still so much to process and grapple with for her. meanwhile leo??? he never got to say goodbye to his best friend, never even considered that any of this would happen while he was away. smart as he is, he probably figures it out fast that what happened to jason might've been caused by him cheating the prophecy. he likely starts thinking that he unknowingly saved his own skin in exchange for the life of his friend. can you imagine the guilt and regret there?? not only was he unable to be there in his best friend's final moments, but he also might've been the reason for the tragedy in the first place.
i can imagine the two of them trying to go on with their lives in oklahoma and indianopolis respectively,, but they can't shake the grief, fear, regret, and confusion harboring their hearts. they both have such strong motivations to do something crazy,, to take on a quest they shouldn't,, to be openly angry with the gods/fate and do something about it.
there's this line that leo says when he finds out about jason at the end of the burning maze. "he did what jason always did. he saved the day." and i can imagine the thought of that haunting both piper and leo. he always saved the day. but why couldn't they save him?
i'm not saying jason should be brought back to life because i think his fate makes sense for the overall narrative of the pjo world,, but it would be so interesting for rick to explore piper and leo's grief in response to what happened and make a story out of that.

Y'know, I am convinced that if Percy Jackson was aimed at adults rather than middle-schoolers and featured an adult cast all the gods would be constantly, obviously trying to get in Nico's pants. Which would be an absolutely hilarious situation for him to be in what with said gods being his friends' parents.

The Percy Jackson fandom really needs to learn how to tag properly lol
Edit: it occurs to me that my habit of talking in the tags makes this post harder to reblog and get my point across. While I didn鈥檛 actually intend for the fandom to see this initially, I have decided that it annoys me enough to make this reblog-friendly. So here鈥檚 the tags I originally put down:

This quote from Leo is really relatable. I can understand this and feel it on a personal level. But the one rebuttal i have: not thinking is way harder than this makes it sound. My brain is like a vehicle going way too fast- almost always running a mile a minute! It's so hard to not overthink things! But yeah, I still find this super relatable.
He let his instincts take over - just like flying the helicopter. If he thought about the quest too much, or what might happen afterward, he'd panic. The trick was not to think -- just get through it.

I never seen anyone talking about it but in The Dark Prophecy, in the flashback with Commodus death, Apollo mentioned the list of the people Commodus was about to kill the very next day.
On this list there were people like his mistress - Marcia, praetorian prefect Laetus, some nobleman and senators and... Apollo's priests.
And it confuses me because neither Apollo nor Commodus ever talk about it for some reason?????
Why would he want to kill Apollo's priests specifically, like what's the reason???
Or maybe he had priests of all the gods there but Apollo only mentions his own because they are important to him??? (I highly doubt that, Apollo talk about the list in a way it sounds like he told us about everyone who were on it).
Did the priests had actually done something or did Commodus just woke up one day and decided 'hey Imma gonna kill all Apollo's priests, that's gonna make him notice me again for sure!'
I know Commodus was delusional at this point but what exactly he thought was gonna happen??? That Apollo would come to him and give him a pat on the back for murdering his priests????
Bro did you not read the fucking Iliad? You know what happens when somebody touches Apollo's priests???
I kinda wish Apollo had brought that up at some point during their arguments in TDP or TTT
Commodus: You blessed me and then you murdered me!
Apollo: Bitch you wanted to kill my priests, tf did you expected me to do?

Yeah, yeah, Valgrace is Romeo and Juliet coded but hear me out: they鈥檙e actually Pyramus and Thisbe, which is a Roman myth.
Same basic story of rival families (rival camps, you know how those parallels work), but the way the deaths go down is different. It鈥檚 not a planned faked death that goes awry because the other person doesn鈥檛 know.
Pyramus and Thisbe plan to meet under a mulberry tree. Thisbe gets there first and sees a lioness killing something and hides, but loses her veil as she flees.
Pyramus never sees Thisbe鈥檚 body (because she isn鈥檛 dead), but finds her bloodied veil and assumes she died. He deals with this by falling on his own sword.
Thisbe returns, wanting to talk to Pyramus about what happened to her, and finds him dead/dying (depending on the version of the myth).
This is more accurate in terms of it being unintentional鈥擫eo not wanting to fake his death but actively trying to escape death with his plan鈥擩ason never seeing Leo鈥檚 body and the death by stabbing thing! It鈥檚 also perfect for Leo coming back at the end of Burning Maze and asking for Jason first thing and finding out he鈥檚 dead. You鈥檙e welcome :)
