Thinking about how different things would have been if Lalna and Rythian switched apprentices. Like Lalna would have accepted Zoey’s desire to mix magic and science and she never would have lost her arm. Rythian’s respect for the danger of science/magic would have either caused Kim to never get fluxed in the first place, or to prioritize healing/curing her as soon as it happens so she wouldn’t have gone through EverythingTM. But I’m not sure any of the four of them would have ever chosen a different pairing than they did. They love each other too much. They would always choose their person even knowing how it ends. Maybe they would convince themselves it would be different the next time around (and it wouldn’t)c but they would always pick each other.
