Would you write something about where zoey sees under rythian's mask for the first time?

It’s a mistake, really.

She’s just being herself, bouncing around the castle, aiming to build yet another- something, she hasn’t quite decided yet but she knows she’ll figure it out along the way and the idea is there she just needs to feel it between her fingers. Teep is watching her from a corner, plucking the string of his bow and feathering some arrows and it’s nice to have the companionship with Rythian lurks in the library, reading or something boring.

But it is an accident the way she walks up without knocking into their bedroom to collect a screwdriver she most definitely left in her bedside table (for late night tinkering!) and Rythian is there. His dark skin is covered in tattoos and intricate scars that map out a story she still doesn’t ask about but when he turns to face her, arms caught in a shirt, his hair ruffled from undress, they both stop.

The scars along his arms and chest snake up to curl around his throat like reaching coils and one curls around his neck, choking him from ear to ear in a puckered white grip. At his mouth, the scars seeped from his mouth, his sharpened teeth only visible in his expression of surprise at seeing her. That mouth closes into a line of anger and shame that makes his scars gleam bright and he turns away, showing her his ribcage and spine before he pulls his shirt on.

“What are you-” “Just grabbing drew! I mean a screw- driver-”

They both speak, then stop. Zoey kicks at the carpet a little and Rythian fumbles to get clothes on.

When Rythian turns back to her he’s pulling up the mask around his face, not quite meeting her eye. Zoey wanders over to her bedside table, plucks the screwdriver over and then stands in front of him, twirling the tool between her fingers like a pro.

Rythian’s gaze is defiant but Zoey knows how to read him and the fear there makes her heart swell. So, she reaches up, pulls down the mask he just put on and kisses him on his scarred lips. “You look kind of badass with these.” She teases before bounding away, looking over her shoulder as she leaves to wink at the dark flush on his cheeks.
