Hi folks! Sorry I've been a bit awol lately! Holidays and all that. Also I've been going through a bit of a digital detox and I've been feeling INCREDIBLE because of it. It's making me feel more free. Makes me want to step back from the internet even more. I've gotten much more physically active, I've been working out and reading books and learning to cook... developing my own novel that I've been wanting to do for years! MAN. It's been really nice.

I don't have any plans to just stop Something Wonderful and not continue it, but it might be a while before the next post!

Maybe yall just haven’t experienced hard things like for example when my parents died I didn’t exactly thank my husband outwardly for all he was doing for me I was a lot like Stolas, numb and upset and just in autopilot. It doesn’t mean I wasn’t grateful for him being there and helping me.

Blitz isn’t doing it to be thanked, he’s doing it because he loves Stolas and wants to take care of him. Stolas doesn’t need to gush in gratitude, it’s understood.

More fall/winter domestic Ghoul thoughts because my brain won’t stop:

Aether being the first to take care of anyone when they get the flu because they trust him the most.

Mountain making his nest comfortable enough for all his mates needs incase they want to join him while he hibernates.

Dew pulling them to himself once they get back to the abbey either after outside duties or being in town and cranking up his element so he can warm them up.

Rain making sure they’re all wearing their jackets and coats before they head out and buttoning them for those who need help.

Ifirit lighting the large fireplace in the Ghouls den and gathering everyone from the pile being especially careful with Zephyr when helping them in.

Aurora making everyone coffee,tea or hot chocolate depending on their preference and always making sure she’s mindful of everyone’s dietary needs and allergies.

Might be a hot take as a bkdk and tgck truther here, but I find izuocha endlessly fascinating, beautiful, but also tearfully tragic.

I see their love for each other as something representative of their innocence and naivety when they only knew so little about who they were, and what was to come.

I think the main barrier of their relationship is that its rooted in how they see each other very idealistically, specifically that they're attached to the image of their Best Heroic Selves, and not the deeply selfish, destructive, freaky, and egotistical parts of them. To each other, they need to keep fulfilling that image or else that same person they looked up to would almost die in front of them, and that would be too cruel. Although that hero is still there, that same person they looked up to is not the same now because of...well...everything.

Izuku had barely even talked to girls when he first met her. She was Izuku's first ever real friend (Sorry Kats, everyone and him knows he was terrible), so he saved her in that entrance exam even if it was so dangerous. She gave a new meaning to his derogatory nickname just by being a friend that believed in him. After that, she saved him several more times (Blackwhip and Megaphone are the biggest samples iirc). It makes perfect sense that she is Deku's hero.

Ochako hardly knew what it meant to be a hero when she first got into UA. Just by reaching out to some kid tripping, she made a new friend who would then save her in that exam, then save him again in return. This boy then became someone who was always working so hard to save everyone in trouble, and she realized she wanted to be just like him too. "I want to save people"

But...Deku changes. The weight of One for All is on his shoulders and he needs someone to carry this burden with him. He continues to want to save other people at the expense of himself, still not letting his true selfishness and ego ever show- and it only grows more and more unbearable.

Then...Ochako fell in love with Himiko. Truly, relentlessly, selfishly and devotedly in love with a girl who then dies giving her blood to her- the greatest expression of love Himiko could ever give.

Not that they can't love each other because of this happening (and...so many other things oh god), I'm honestly not sure how to explain it- But them ending up together after losing that innocence and naivety? After Ochako will forever grieve the girl who showed her love in its most beautiful and ugly form? After Izuku changed so fundamentally as a person that the butterflies of a nice girl talking to you doesn't exist anymore? After that simple image of being a hero and being in love has completely changed for them both?

Even so, I believe they still love each other. There is no label I know of that can properly describe them though. They are each other's image of being a hero when it comes to saving people. Aside from Shoto, no one else can grasp the grief of the person you tried to save dying in your hands. They would no doubt try to cope with these losses together, and just try to get better together...but so much has changed. They've changed. The world changed. What are they now? Who are they now?

One of the things I’ve been thinking about since I finished arcane was Jayce’s last speech to Viktor bfr the ending.

When Jayce said his imperfections are not weakness but instead beautiful and made him the man he was today and it worked , it kinda downed on me just how perfectly crafted the timing had been, and how It just wouldn’t have worked any other time. Don’t get me wrong it would have a lot of impact on Viktor, but it wouldn’t have been nearly as groundbreaking as it was in the moment of that last scene. in s1 before he began using the hexcore on himself for example, he’s definitely feel somewhat better about himself but not enough to give up on trying to change everything. Maybe he’s think about it further but I don’t personally think anything would go differently. After he died and absorbed the hexcore though, it really wouldn’t have changed a thing, no explanation needed.

But when he came back as machine herald we could see how the idealization of the glorious evolution evolved to a different level of obsession, the perfectionism all tied up to the emotions that formed him, that self hatred that came with his incapability of getting rid of his illness and disability, it reflected directly onto what drove machine herald’s ambition.

And then comes Jayce, fresh out his worst nightmare of loosing everyone he loves along with the entire fucking planet. Days of walking around injured absorbing the reality of what the world will turn into if he doesn’t end the life of his partner. Then the cave happens, and he suddenly has to endure everything that happened to Viktor in a fucked up, symbolic and faster paced way. (There’s a lot of parallels in there tho I’m not covering them I’m sure someone else already did that)

then he got out, shot Viktor, following the wishes of the Viktor he met in the other realm. After this he got an insight on what Viktor went through all his life, and that, along with what he told him about the perfectionism of the glorious evolution, he had time to fucking think about it and I’m sure he spent some nights awake with that on his mind.

So when Jayce got his last chance to try and convince Viktor he knew just how to crack him. I don’t think he thought of it strategically at all though. He said it not only because he meant it but because when face to face with him his emotions got the best of him (again) and the wish to just get Viktor back that’s what he thought Viktor needed to hear. After what he went through in the arcane, they were connected again and that moment was the only one he could have reached Viktor. His emotions were so strong they were inhuman already, the sole source of his motivation. That recognition from jayce in his most fragile state ( into the hive mind )

It’s the words he needed to hear the most all his life from the person who understood, the one that brought him back.

I'll be publishing the Sketchbook PDF on itch.io

I'll be splitting the sketchbook into different parts, in chronological order. This keeps it more accessible price-wise, and I'll still have an option for the full collection!

I do know that some folks wanted the PDFs to be arranged according to subject, so I could summarise the contents and summary of the art/subjects to expect in each PDF, so you know what you'll be getting.

I'm planning on giving each PDF a unique cover! If the scanning/cleanup process doesn't kill me, I'd love to do some exclusive artwork for this project as a thanks for the support and interest if you were to buy one of these!

If my health allows, I may even consider inserting some new sketches into each PDF 👀

As for updates: I have already done a quick mockup of a PDF, testing the quality, scanning, formatting and exporting process and I think I have a rough idea of the workflow! I'm going to be starting the scanning today, which is going to be a huge undertaking, wish me luck T-T ! I'm guessing that and cleanup may take the longest, and the timeline is unknown rn but I'll give as many frequent updates on this as I can.

And now for a very important question:

Would you like something more polished in this sketchbook PDF (stuff I already posted + "nicer" unseen sketches) ? or would you like me to also include the more raw, incomplete, and bad drawings too? When I say it's almost every art of ToA I did, I really do mean it.

Why I'm considering sharing the more raw stuff is because I feel like there is a lot of misconceptions/insecurities around the quality of a sketchbook, and the pressure of an individual to make every drawing-even in their own personal sketchbook-perfect. I thought I could include the good, the bad and especially the ugly to hopefully break that stereotype of every drawing needing to be perfect, and to show the very real process behind my art.

And why I'm also considering against that is because YOU guys are the ones paying for this PDF, and you may want to have something of more quality XD !!

I don't think I've seen many artists go for the TRULY vulnerable/raw/scrappy route in the sketchbook PDFs I've seen and bought, so its important that I throw this out there to see how y'all are feeling about this. So:

Tbh this account’s become my “let’s rant about random shit” place but I have another thing to bitch about lol yall who keep whining about people creating “good ending” AUs where Anya keeps the baby are annoying. Her keeping the baby doesn’t make it a bad ending. That’s like a real thing that many victims do? And we don’t even know what her choice would have been, so her keeping or getting rid of the baby are both totally valid portrayals of her character. IMO both are interesting ways to explore her character more since both have equal amounts of weight to them as choices. Godddd please just have some nuisance in a game that opens itself up to heavy interpretation.
