What if reader becomes sick and Toji can obviously tell (even before they do) and just intently follows them everywhere so they don’t try to hide from him-

He can tell you’re trying to seem low maintenance but you’re so sick it’s kinda pitiful

and then if it's the opposite?? oh boy. toji would NOT want to be near you when he's sick. he would literally hide away and you're desperately trying to help and take care of him and he's just like pls go away???? he does not like the idea of you being next to him while he's sick bc ...you're human?? which means you're already so weak?? so vulnerable????? yeah no get away.

(he also just does not like the idea of looking like a weak hybrid in front of you. something about being that vulnerable and you seeing him in that state that makes him so unbearably nervous.)

hey what do you think abt damian calling his dad baba and his siblings various nicknames in arabic that range from zameel or jalees when he’s particularly annoyed with them to akhi (brother)/ukhti (sister) when hes rlly happy

anything that keeps damian in touch with his heritage is a huge yes for me. big fan of him slipping arabic words into his sentences, or repeating phrases he grew up around when he can't think of an adequate english equivalent. etc etc

similar to how people who are learning english as a second language tend to mix their native tongue into english sentences. although with damian i don't think he would do it because he isn't confident with the language (because he most definitely is), i think it's just something that's familar to him, and comfortable to slip into his english speech. + sometimes he can just articulate himself better in arabic.

as for the familial names, although he doesn't use them in canon, he very much does seek comfort from things culturally familiar to him, in gotham. such as in teen titans (2016) special #1, when he's implied to often visit a middle-eastern restaurant 'tarbooshes' which reminds him of his home in the league and his mother.

so although the nicknames aren't something shown in the comics, i don't think it'd be unlikely. he's definitely 'in touch' with his culture, and it's far from an out there idea.

as for the specific names, such as calling bruce 'baba', i'm typically all for that. though apparently in arabic that word in particular translates more to 'dad' than it does 'father'. obviously damian's very formal with his speech, so it is a question as to whether or not that would be the nickname he uses for bruce, or whether he'd use more formal titles. (this post gives some alternatives + explains it more).

usually when i see the use of 'baba' in fics, it's very fitting. i'm very partial to the 'sleepy/hurt damian letting his guard down' trope, and i thoroughly enjoy it when the writer lets him slip a "baba" to bruce. one fic that did this really well was 'repeat your favourite mistakes and love them all over again' by watchingthestars13 on ao3, in which damian (although not the focus of the story) is aged down to 2 years old by magic, and coordinates life as a toddler with bruce, rather than with the league. he's very hesitant to affection at first, so when the writer lets an 'about to fall asleep' damian, call bruce his 'baba', it's always just right.

i'm also fond of him having personal nicknames for his siblings beyond 'brother' or 'sister' in arabic. this post talks about how in arab culture it's common for people to refer to loved ones as their organs. i think it's a fun idea for damian, especially because it's something only he would understand. i think he'd be most likely to do this for dick, although maybe he has a generic one that he uses for other siblings when he's suuuuper happy with them.

but he also takes advantage of being the only arab in the house, and one huuuuundred percent switches up the nicknames he uses depending on how he feels about that sibling at a particular time. he is not above throwing flavourful remarks when he's annoyed, in a language no one else understands (whether that be arabic or not), or calling people the nastiest names he can think of.

God this was the best ever I just walked up to strangers and talked, someone I'd met minutes earlier gave me their shiny photocard because I couldn't afford merch, I asked for a cross to finish my sister Daniel closet cosplay and someone on Tumblr gave one to me, I spent the whole show that I came to on my own talking to the person next to me who I sold my sister's ticket to, I got to have a photoshoot with fellow sister Daniels. I have been in so many fandoms and I've been to so many shows that the Tumblr gays enjoy (shout out Melbourne MCR 2023 best day of my life) and none have ever been as good and kind and genuinely welcoming as the phandom. Idk why I'm saying this to you specifically I'm just emotional and wanna say this to someone who understands. The phandom is the most magical place in the world.

YES YES TO ALL OF THOSE :33c he’s soooo off putting but also dangerously charming…. the kind of professor who seems really really chill during class, ropes the students into his discussions, makes them laugh…. but he switches up completely during exam season 💀 can go from chill to scary and strict sooo quickly. takes learning very seriously. his classes are just very wild….. says something ominous very casually and everyone is just ?? voted most likely professor to have a body in his basement lmao

kenjaku enjoys hearing his students’ thoughts, but especially yours…. almost always keeps his eye on whatever side of the lecture hall you’re in. nods appreciately at your answers to his questions with a smile that stretches just a little wider than with other students…. it’s a sickening dynamic because i think the way he feeds you approval is very intentional. he can tell that you’re seeking it. you’re his favorite student and he doesn’t exactly try to hide it….

…. honestly the whole concept kind of stemmed from this thought i had of how scary he would be 😭 in just how quickly he switches up . one moment you’re lying in bed together and he’s almost sickeningly sweet, treats you as an equal … the next he’s looking at you with this disappointed gaze because you didn’t do well on your exam . he’s just awful

Bruce was raised to drink tea in a proper, refined, and detailed way. Lois was raised with no regard for any ritual regarding hot water. Unless she's needing caffeine, Lois will go for a mug of hot water, honey, and lemon. She calls it tea. This goes against everything that Bruce knows.

In Lois' kitchen she has a set of justice league mugs. The Superman one she'd long taken to the Planet and it sits forever on her desk. The Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and others are at the very back of the shelf, dusty and untouched. And then there is the Batman mug.

Bruce discovers the Batman mug one day while visiting her. It is stained and chipped and well used. He holds it in his hand. He puts it back on the shelf.

At home, Bruce has a Daily Planet thermos mug. When they've been working too long on their separate cases, when the distance between their cities is too great, Bruce will fill that thermos mug with hot water, honey, and lemon. It tastes like her.

Alfred finds it sacrilegious but he doesn't say a thing.

This might be a really strange message, but I really respect that you're able to be respectful to other people and kind in interactions while also expressing your opinions on your blog- being critical of things, having a sense of humor, having Thoughts good or bad. I feel like lately I've been in some online communities where people have begun to behave like being very mean spirited all the time without care for other people is the only way to be "sincere" or to express an opinion, and it's reassuring to be reminded that it's possible to be online and have a better balance than that. To be a hater without attacking others, or to be polite without being afraid to express an opinion. I really enjoy your blog and I'm thankful to see a better way when I'm starting to fall into unpleasant habits too.

oh thank you so much, wow!! not weird at all, and genuinely words i'd been hoping to hear in a way :-) i used to come on here and complain and act way more bitter and mean, and then i realized no one was enjoying it, not even me. being like this is fun for a second, but i always regretted it after. training myself out of the impulse to come here and complain about some silly bad take i saw or whatever, truly one of the best exercises i did for myself

i really enjoy coming here and discussing video games and literature takes, and i'm glad my efforts to keep it friendly have paid off. it's nice to hear from people who have other perspectives to offer! i lean towards hyperbole by nature and im even worse in real life, but the internet makes tones and jokes harder to read, so i try to rein it in. it would be me sad to think someone's day was a little worse because i couldn't take five seconds to word something with a bit more measure

Ive long believed that this recent extremist hatred of “colonists” was more about the perceived value of the people being colonized than about the actual harm to human life that colonization causes. (And I do not think of Israelis as colonizers, btw) The past hours have proven this to me. It’s not about whether they think Israel is truly guilty of colonization; it’s that Israelis would dare go against a group they have decided has fundamentally different and more valuable level of humanity. The same exact people who claim they’d support indigenous Americans taking back the land hate Jews for doing exactly that. And my God, the amount of people who spend most of their time discussing sexism and violence against women now saying that the innocent women being killed and kidnapped en masse is “the price to pay” is making my blood boil. I feel like I’ve witnessed so many people just toss all decency and morality out the window just so they can pat themselves on the back for being “anti-colonialists”. Anti-semetism has so rotted peoples brains. I’m praying for you and for every life caught up in this atrocity.

Let me just say you're of course right that Israeli Jews are not colonizers of the Jewish ancestral homeland. But I haven't been touching this point, because the truth is... even if they were, would it justify such barbarity? Or do we as human beings believe in the sanctity of life, and understand that violence, rape, torture, mutilation and cold blooded murder, let alone mass murder, should NEVER be accepted as the solution to any problem?

Did people take the Nazis, those who committed the worst crimes in human history, and tried to use them to justify the massacre of all Germans, or to de-legitimize the very existence of a German state?

I actually sadly don't think the world does value the lives of Palestinians. I'm friends with so many. Mainly, as a gay woman, I have gay Palestinian friends. I have friends whose families found out they're gay, threatened to kill them, they applied for refugee status in so many western countries, but none would take them. I'm aware that Palestinians are being discriminated against BY LAW in so many places (for example in Lebanon, where Palestinians are barred from no less than 39 professions). If this were about their well being, then pro-Palestinian activists and demonstrations would be speaking up about the mistreatment of Palestinians everywhere! But they don't. If they can't blame the Jewish state for a perceived wrong, they don't care what happens to Palestinians.

Not everyone, obviously. Many accept the info as handed to them and they think they're being pro-Palestinian, when really they're just being fed, and then end up passing on, anti-Israel propaganda.

So, sadly I think this is a new form of antisemitism, expressed by singling out the Jewish state. It isn't the push for human rights it pretends to be, or the movement would care about the human rights of Palestinians in places like Lebanon and Jordan, too.

i think i genuinely have run my mouth about murdoc on here so much that there’s very little that i haven’t said at some point, but here’s a fun one: murdoc’s archery hook is based on an irl assistive device called an elbow strap, as seen in this article here!! i’m by no means an expert in this subject (and if anyone seeing this DOES happen to know more than me i want to hear about it, accessibility is cool) but i was pretty stoked to get to do a little research about it when murdoc lost his hand. also as a bonus, i think he swears in spider when he gets super stressed djdjfnfn <3

ohhhh noooooo im melting actually 🙃 this isnt good for my heart

okay so. pepe is 50% human and 110% gentleman. i dont make the rules. and so therefor, he really doesn't want to be falling asleep before you because he likes to know that you're safely floating away in dreamland before he can let go too. ofc like there are some times when he's just exhaustedddd and falls asleep instantly on your chest but like, as much as he can, he wants to fall asleep first

and this habit/thing of his means that he can keep track of every little detail about you when it comes to like all the pre-sleep stuff. the way you get much whinier as you grow more sleepy, the way you scrunch your nose and glare at him when he jokes about needing to go to the bathroom one last time, the way he needs to turn down the brightness and volume of the tv/laptop after youve been cuddling for a while because you get more sensitive the longer you stay awake.

the way your sentences begin to get less and less coherent as you grow more tired. the way you can barely even keep your eyes open after a long day (he thinks it's adorableeee). the way all your worries and all your stress seems to just dissolve the second you nuzzle into his side. the way you fall asleep so quickly when you feel his heartbeat under your head… and god does he love learning all of these little things about you

and so when his lover can't sleep all of a sudden? oh, he'll be trying all of his tricks. he knows that there's something about skin-on-skin contact that makes you calm much more easily, so he's definitely making sure you stay fully resting against his bare chest. and he'll be playing with your hair, fingers lightly scraping your scalp, as he softly hums some sweet melody to you. and he'll love to run a finger along your features, tracing your nose, your lips, your jaw… some little kisses, nuzzling his nose into your hair……
