“Y/n, I promise you they’re going to love you– I mean, this isn’t the first time you’re meeting them! You’ve been to plenty of games they’ve been to.” Jack assured you as he quickly jogged over to the passenger side of his car to help you carry your overnight bags and gifts for the Hughes family.
Jack and you had just arrived at his family home to spend the holiday break with his parents and two brothers for the first time. Needless to say, your nerves had skyrocketed upon your arrival. Jack was right however, this wasn’t the first time you had met the brunette’s parents– in fact, you had spent plenty of time getting to know Jim and Ellen at the times they attended the Devils’ games. However, this time, it was being spent in the house all three Hughes brothers grew up in and called home, and you would be welcoming yourself into what shaped her beloved boyfriend.
“I know, I know,” You sighed, “You just don’t get it. I feel like I’m meeting them for the first time all over again. Hell, I’ll be sleeping in their house, eating their food, living with them while we’re here– so it’s kind of a big deal.” You expressed as you continued to place present box after present box on top of one another in Jack’s arms before flinging your duffel bag over your shoulder in the process.
“Baby,” Jack pressed, his head popping out from the side of the tall stack of red, green and white wrapping paper-covered boxes, in an attempt to stop you from becoming overwhelmed. “There is nothing more that they want, other than to have you here with me and all of my family for Christmas.” He said as he looked into your eyes, a look in his own washing over to speak further without needing the use of words. “I wouldn’t bring you here if I wasn’t serious about us.”
You sigh in relief, but it’s halted when you hear the last part of Jack’s sentence and you let out a sarcastic laugh, “well, that’s reassuring.”
“C’mon, let’s go, they’re probably just about getting ready for dinner.” Jack said with a nod of his head to direct you up the sidewalk from the driveway and to the entrance to the suburban home. As your footsteps echo as you walk up the steps of the front porch to the front door, the sound of the doorknob already clicking to open catches your attention, and before you know it– you’re greeted with the excited gasp from Ellen at the reveal of her middle son and girlfriend arriving.
“Ah! My babies!” Ellen exclaimed with open arms and stepped towards you to bring you into a hug. It was what you loved most about the mother of your boyfriend; that since the day you met her, she was so inviting and warm that she really made you feel like you were accepted into the family. “How was the drive? Were the roads bad? I just pulled the lasagna out to quickly cool– you came right in time for dinner!” She rushed out as she pulled away from you and turned to exchange a hug with Jack to the best of his ability with the presents creating a barrier for him.
You let out a breath, Ellen’s warm welcome immediately calming your nerves that you had pent up on the drive up. Jack quickly slipped into the living room where a warmly lit Christmas tree stood and placed the presents you had bought around the green fir. Coming back to give his mom a proper hug, you slid your own shoes off in the meantime.
“The drive wasn’t bad, the usual– I am starving though,” Jack responded to his mom’s bombardment of questions. “Where are the boys at? I’m gonna go quickly say hi.” He asked and Ellen directed him to the basement where the two other brothers occupied themselves with the college football game that was on.
Ellen waved you to follow her and you quickly proceeded into the cozy home, placing your duffel bag by the side of the stairs to bring up later.
“So, Y/n, how have things been since I last saw you? When was it– two, three weeks ago?” She asked as she pulled out a prepared salad from the fridge, followed by a closed bottle of white wine.
You flash her a smile as you slid onto one of the barstools that was hidden under the countertop of the island, “oh, things have been good, y’know– work has been busy these last few weeks and Jack’s been in and out of the place with hockey, so we haven’t had too much time to spend together, but I’m glad we have the break to relax fully and spend together.” You smiled, all while Ellen silently opened the bottle of wine and prompted you by tilting the bottle in your direction as an offer, and you nodded while filling her in about your past few weeks. She poured you a glass of crisp, white wine and slid it in your direction to which you slid in a quick ‘thank you’ while telling her a story about something interesting that had happened at work.
“No way! Well, it seems like you are keeping yourself busy which is great. Dinner’s all ready, so we can start heading to the dining room. I’ll call the boys up.”
You nodded as you pushed yourself off of the barstool, “is there anything you need me to help with, Ellen? Any napkins or utensils that need to be placed?” You offered, feeling helpless as you saw by the presentation and smell of dinner, that she had put in hours of effort to make it look and taste delicious. But, all you received was a shake of her head and her hand placed on your shoulder as she guided you into the dining room.
Not long after, the voices of the three Hughes brothers and their father grew louder as they approached the dining room, turning the corner to reveal their three figures. You smiled to the eldest and youngest brothers respectively, saying hello and briefly asking them how they were before greeting Jim and leaning in for the hug he pulled you into. You then pulled away, finding your seat next to Jack who had already begun pulling out your chair for you.
You smile in his direction, placing a kiss on his cheek in return for his kind gesture, before you all begin conversing about the latest things that had happened in all of your lives. Everyone had devoured their meals within mere minutes of it being served, and you all stayed seated at the table, your glasses of wine and water slowly being emptied as you all conversed with one another.
Jack’s warm hand was placed on the middle of your thigh as you listened to Quinn talk about his hockey season, the brothers and their dad every so often quipping in a quick comment here and there. You attempted to stay focused as the brothers and their parents talked with one another, but the feeling of Jack’s large hand rubbing up and down your clothed leg drowned out the words being exchanged, but it wasn’t long before the sound of the dining room chair sliding against the hardwood floored pulled you out of your trance.
You followed suit, standing up out of your seat before grabbing Jack’s and your plates as well as Luke’s who was on the other side of you at the table, both boys bidding you a ‘thank you’ in appreciation for your gesture.
You smiled in return and walked towards the kitchen where Jim and Ellen stood side by side by the sink, beginning to wash the dishes. You felt Jack’s presence following closely behind your frame, and his hand reached to guide your figure by the small of your back, his touch causing heat to flush through your body.
You had placed the plates next to the piling stack before Jack’s voice could be heard throughout the entire room.
“Mom, dad, let us do the dishes tonight– you guys have done more than enough.” He exclaimed as you stood next to him, nodding in agreement as you looked at them with a hint of sympathy in your eyes.
“Okay, okay, but you know this doesn’t mean just because you did it today, you’re off the hook for the rest of your visit.” Jim chuckled both playfully and sternly as he pointed his finger at his middle child with squinted eyes, only earning Jack’s sheepish grin in response.
“Of course not, dad. C’mon, it’s the least we can do for you hosting us all for Christmas.” Jack reassured before taking his mom’s place as the drier, leaving you to finish washing the dinner plates and utensils. The parents quickly scurried off to the living room, the two other brothers already being planted on the couches, flicking through the channels on the TV to pick a movie for you all to watch.
Jack and you quietly stood in the kitchen next to each other as you finished scrubbing and drying each object. You looked over at Jack with a grin on your face as you handed him the second last plate to dry, your soapy hand quickly brushing over his own, earning in a dramatic drop of Jack’s jaw as he stepped away from you. You threw your head back in laughter at his comical response, before finishing up cleaning before unplugging the sink drain and wiping down the wet counter with a new cloth.
Jack put away the last few forks and knives in the drawer next to the stove before turning to you and reaching to pull you into his embrace. He leaned down, swiftly pulling you into a kiss as you melted into him and when you pulled away, you stared into his loving eyes, so many words being spoken through your eyes.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” Jack smiled, speaking just soft enough for only you to hear.
You chuckle to yourself, “well, I’d hope so.” Earning a playful scoff and roll of the eyes from the brunette who stood opposite to you, such a warm, content and loving energy radiating off of him. You had a warm ache erupt in your heart at the feeling of such a domestic act; in the kitchen with the man you loved while spending time with his family and feeling so welcomed by his parents and siblings.
“I’m serious, Y/n.” He paused, tilting his head down lower to look further into your eyes, a grin you couldn’t stop from erupting on your face before you lifted yourself onto the tips of your toes, reaching Jack’s face to kiss him again.
You hummed into the feeling of Jack’s soft lips against yours as his large hands gripped your torso, leaving you feeling a sense of security and warmth before you were interrupted with a slow groan from a distance, stopping you from the display of affection.
“Ugh, save it for the bedroom you two, I’m for real– I don’t want to see you both all lovey dovey.” You heard Luke call as he passed through the kitchen, entering the pantry before quickly exiting back to the living room with a snack in hand.
All you could do was smile and let out a quick laugh as you finished tidying the kitchen for the next morning.
Later that night, both Ellen and Jim had found themselves to bed, leaving the three Hughes brothers and you all dispersed amongst the couches in the living room, watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas, while the electric fireplace emitted heat, creating a cozy, Christmas-y atmosphere, only furthering your feeling of adoration for the man you were with and the experience you were having.
You were tucked into Jack’s side, like a lock and key, fitting into place so effortlessly, as if you were made for his embrace. Jack, who now had changed into the matching set of pajamas you had gifted him and you, sat with his arm around your side, hand resting on your side just above your hip, and his legs stretched out in front of him on the L-shaped sofa.
While the Grinch yearned to ruin Christmas in Whoville, you couldn’t help but feel your eyes grow heavy as the warmth of Jack’s body and the fireplace spread to your own body, lulling you into a peaceful, relaxed state. Jack’s hand slowly ran up and down your side, sending little jolts of electricity through your body, but the feeling of your head rested against his chest with the background noise of the movie and quiet room, you felt your eyes grow heavier and heavier before falling into a tranquil state of slumber.
It didn’t feel like long before you felt Jack shift underneath you, indicating the movie had ended and everyone would be making their way to bed for the night, but he stilled his movements, and you could feel his gaze on you, despite your eyes still being closed– pretending to still be asleep.
“You gonna wake her up, man? She looks so peaceful.” You heard Luke say as the sound of him getting up out of his seat and walking across the room echoed throughout the space.
Jack chuckled softly, “Probably, even though it might not end well– waking her up out of her sleep.”
“You got lucky, bro– mom seriously adores her, and she really fits in with all of us. She’s a keeper.” You heard Quinn call from where he laid on the side of the couch. You had to maintain your steady breaths, in an attempt to disguise the fact that you were awake and eavesdropping on the conversation. But, you couldn’t help but feel your heart lovingly ache at the comment from Jack’s older brother.
“I know,” Jack said softly, his hand reaching to the side of your face, brushing a stray hair out of your face, “I got so incredibly lucky. I really think this is it– like, she’s the one.” And you had to carefully bite the inside of your lip to stop yourself from letting out a wail in disbelief that you had gotten so lucky. You couldn’t hold your disguise any longer, so as best as you could, you slowly shifted in your spot, legs rubbing each other and arms stretching as you tried to sell your performance.
“Well, look who’s awake.” Jack chuckled as you looked up to meet his tired, blue eyes. You only smiled, before sitting up straight next to Jack while his hand fell to your hip as he gripped it softly.
“Alright, well, I’m gonna head to bed– night guys,” Luke said, giving a salute to the rest of you in the living room before exiting to the stairs for the night, and it wasn’t long before Quinn followed.
Jack then pushed off of his knees to stand, turning off the fireplace and TV, and began to walk towards the stairs to his room, but your voice stopped his movements.
“Wait, babe,” You called out, and Jack turned to you, eyebrows raised and lips pursed as he waited for you to continue. You stood slowly, walking over to the brunette before quickly slipping your hand into his, “I heard your little conversation just now…” You teased, earning a blush warming Jack’s face as he realized your confession.
“You did?” He questioned, pulling you closer to his frame, his hands interlocking behind the small of your back.
You hummed, “mhm… you really mean what you said?” You asked softly, barely audible.
Jack didn’t respond, only reaching down to place a slow, soft kiss on your lips.
When he pulled away, his forehead resting on yours, he continued, “of course I did, my love, and I’m serious– you’re it for me.”

AU TIME!!!!!!
Introducing: valleygirl(kissers) the au!!!!
🌊👙🐚🌺💫🏄♀️
This is a gender swapped ranchers au inspired by the valley girls bit that scar and jimmy have…..I decided to use that and run with it to make an actual story!!!!!
Our main characters are Jamie (Jimmy) and Tanga (Tango). When scar invites her best friend Jamie to spend another summer in America with her, Jamie prepares herself to tell scar that she unfortunately doesn’t have the money to stay there for the summer this year. Scar hears this and proposes the idea of having Jamie work with her at her beach side shop that Scar can totally get a job for her there and Jamie can get money to pay off the expenses. After much convincing, Jamie arrives in America, LA ready to spend time with her best friend and pay off her debts. However, she gets side tracked when she meets a daily shopper, and surfing fanatic named Tanga. Not too long after, pining begins, unfortunately because it is distracting her VERY much from her goal to earn money to pay her debts off.
What Jamie is oblivious to is how she distracts Tanga’s shopping for things like surfboard wax and whatnot. Will either of them figure out their feelings for eachother? (Yes. Yes they will)
More info under the cut :-)
I’m making this post to hopefully gain people who are interested in this as I REALLY want to write this into a proper fic on tumblr!! I don’t know much wlw ships in the life series fandom, which I understand why and I understand that there is much more men than women in the life series, but I still wished there was more representation. So I created this au! It’s a bit self-indulgent, but I know (and hope) that there are other lesbians or sapphics in the fandom that feel the same way!!
My character designs:
Jamie!!!! She/they pronouns, lesbian
She spends her days with her family’s ranch as that’s where she lives, and often visiting Joelle (Joel) and Lin (Lizzie). However, most of her summers consist of going to LA and visiting Griande her sister (Grian) and Scar her best friend :-)
Tanga!!!! She/her pronouns (might change), lesbian
Insanely passionate about surfing, especially with her friends Imp and Skizz. She’s a regular at Scars job, often buying things for surfing and her surf board ^^
This is them together!!!!! Please comment or reblog your thoughts and stuff, I’d love to know if anyone is interested in this and would like for it to be a proper fic!!!!!!! There wouldn’t be much angst at all, just a fun, slice of life comfort fic. I hope this peaks at least one persons interests!!!!!!!
This is the valley girl(kissers) au!!!

+
letter to god (1983) (1:52)
putting these together bc they are sister songs and sister videos. first time in my life i've worked on two videos at once. it was fun because they kind of grew together and influenced each other very directly. not fun because i ran out of space and my laptop crashed. several times. these felt rly indulgent and raw. kind of shocking to me how perfect both songs feel for both of them. had a lot of fun messing with the voice/video filters to try and place these in their respective eras bc im obsessed with that aspect of the songs. halsey's artistry is crazy yall if u havent listened to her newest album GO. NOW.
the rush of slumber party kissing (3.2k)
posted this literally yesterday lol. also my first time writing smut. somehow. scary! but i did giggle all the way through writing this tbh. when buddie reveal their true nature as silly teenage girls >>>>>>>>>>

<3
ok if u read all that uh. wow congrats fhdhhdh im gonna get sappy for JUST A SEC now cause uh. im actually blown away by the support and love and appreciation this fandom has shown me this past year. you guys have given me so much confidence in my skills as both an editor and a writer and you also quite literally helped me pay my rent. by making videos about gay firefighters. its actually kind of mind blowing to me how lucky i am and i never want to take that for granted <3
to anyone who has commissioned me, or sent me a prompt, or left a comment on a fic, or a tag on a video, or sent me a kind ask, or subscribed to me, or followed me, or reblogged anything of mine this year: thank you.
im so grateful for this little community and all the friends and connections i have made through our collective insanity over a procedural drama on abc (neé fox). yall rock so hard.
<3

I’m not sure if you’ll write this but I’m dying for it and your writing is incredible. Willy Nylander dating a Bruins fan PLEASEEE
Hey there, love 🤗
Alright, so this feels more like a blurb than a proper fic chapter, but I just wanted to say I absolutely love your idea—and I hope I’ve captured at least a bit of it 😘 I don’t know much about being a Bruins fan, so I just followed my intuition on that one 😉
I will say, though, I can definitely see the potential for a series here—not necessarily based on this particular one-shot, but in general, there’s so much to explore! It might be worth diving into - so many details I didn't include 🥰
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as it is 😘
Tropes & Warnings: William Nylander x reader, enemies to lovers, rival teams, no warnings, just fluff
Word count: 3.2K
➼。゚
Rivals in Love I William Nylander
It had been a long day at work, and you were in desperate need of coffee before tackling the rest of your to-do list. The little café tucked on a quiet street near downtown Boston was your go-to spot. The place always had the best lattes and, more importantly, it was never crowded.
You pushed open the door, the tiny bell jingling to announce your arrival, and stepped inside. The smell of fresh coffee beans and warm pastries instantly soothed your nerves. But you were so focused on debating between a caramel macchiato or a cold brew that you didn’t notice someone walking toward you until—
Crash.
Hot coffee spilled down the front of your sweatshirt, and a sharp gasp escaped your lips.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” a voice said.
You looked up, your initial annoyance faltering when you saw the man responsible. He was tall, his blond hair slightly dishevelled, with bright blue eyes staring at you apologetically.
“It’s fine,” you muttered, though the sticky heat soaking through your shirt suggested otherwise.
“Here,” he said quickly, grabbing a handful of napkins from a nearby table and handing them to you. “I wasn’t looking where I was going. That’s on me.”
“No kidding,” you replied, dabbing at the mess. Then, as you glanced back up at him, recognition dawned. “Wait a second… I know you.”
He tilted his head, a small smirk forming on his lips. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah,” you said, narrowing your eyes. “You’re William Nylander.”
His smirk grew, but before he could respond, you added, “I guess it makes sense. Leafs players are used to fumbling.”
His eyebrows shot up, and then he let out a laugh—a genuine, hearty laugh that caught you off guard. “Wow. That’s the first thing you say to me?”
“Don’t take it personally,” you said with a shrug, trying to ignore how ridiculously good-looking he was. “I’m a Bruins fan.”
“Ah, that explains it,” he said, his smirk returning. “I’ve been told your kind can be… difficult.”
You rolled your eyes. “Difficult or honest?”
“Depends on the day,” he replied, and there was something in his tone—teasing, but also intrigued.
You expected him to brush off the conversation and move on, but instead, he stuck around, asking for your name and making casual small talk while the barista quickly made William a replacement drink.
“I’ll pay for hers too,” William insisted, handing over his card before you could protest.
“You don’t have to—”
“I want to,” he said, meeting your gaze with an easy smile. “Consider it an apology. And maybe a peace offering? Even if you are a Bruins fan.”
“Fine,” you said, trying to suppress the small smile creeping onto your lips. “But this doesn’t mean I like you or your team.”
“Fair enough,” he said, grabbing his own drink from the counter. But as he turned to leave, he hesitated. “Hey, can I ask you something?”
You raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“Will you be at the game tomorrow night?”
“Why? Hoping to convert me?”
“No,” he said, his grin widening. “Just wondering if I’ll have to skate extra hard to impress you.”
Before you could respond, he gave you a playful wink and walked out the door, leaving you standing there, completely caught off guard.
_
The next evening, you found yourself in a dilemma. You hadn’t planned on attending the Bruins-Leafs game—you usually watched from the comfort of your couch, where you could yell at the TV without judgment. But after yesterday’s unexpected encounter, a part of you couldn’t shake the thought of William Nylander skating with that cocky grin, wondering if you’d shown up.
Against your better judgment, you grabbed your Coyle jersey and headed to TD Garden, promising yourself it was only because your best friend, a Leafs fan, had an extra ticket. You weren’t going because of him.
Right?
The Garden was buzzing with energy. You cheered along with the crowd as the Bruins took the ice, booing extra loud when the Leafs players followed. Your friend rolled her eyes at your antics, but you didn’t care.
As the game started, you tried not to pay attention to the opposing #88, but it was impossible. William was everywhere—stealing pucks, setting up plays, and skating with an effortless grace that made you grit your teeth.
And midway through the second period, he scored. The Leafs bench erupted as the puck sailed past Swayman and into the net. You groaned, burying your face in your hands while your friend celebrated.
“That’s your guy,” she teased, elbowing you.
“He’s not my anything,” you shot back, though your cheeks burned.
As the arena quieted for the faceoff, you glanced down at the ice and caught him looking in your direction. He wasn’t even subtle about it—he skated slowly, his gaze locking with yours as he passed your section.
And then, to your horror, he winked.
You sank lower in your seat, cursing yourself for even being here.
After the game—a crushing overtime win for Toronto, much to your dismay—you were about to make your escape when your phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number.
Unknown: Enjoy the game, Bruins fan?
You froze, staring at the screen.
You: How did you get my number?!
Unknown: I have my ways. A little birdie at the café helped me out.
You could practically hear the smugness in his voice.
You: I can’t believe you’re this desperate for validation.
Unknown: And yet, you came to the game. What does that say about you?
You hated how much his teasing made you smile.
And a few days later, you were back at your favourite café, quietly working through some emails when a shadow fell across your table. You didn’t even have to look up to know who it was.
“You know, I’m starting to think you only come here hoping to bump into me,” William said, setting his coffee down across from you.
“I was here first,” you replied, glancing up at him. “Shouldn’t you be in Toronto or something?”
“We have a few days off,” he said casually, leaning back in his chair. “Thought I’d stick around Boston for a bit. It’s growing on me. Besides, my friend lives here; Pasta, you know him.”
“Careful,” you said, raising an eyebrow. “You’re starting to sound like a Bruins fan.”
He chuckled. “Not a chance. But I could be convinced to stick around… if you let me take you out sometime.”
The audacity of this man. You should’ve laughed in his face, reminded him of the years of heartbreak his team had inflicted on yours. But instead, you found yourself smiling.
“Fine,” you said, trying to sound nonchalant. “But don’t think this changes anything. I’m still wearing my Coyle jersey.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less,” he said with a grin.
_
A couple of weeks had passed since your impromptu coffee shop agreement to a “date” with William. You’d been casually out together a few times since then—dinners at quiet restaurants, coffee runs, even a casual walk through Boston Common—but you still couldn’t quite figure him out.
William Nylander, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ golden boy, had women fawning over him wherever he went. Yet somehow, you, a loud, opinionated Bruins fan, were the one he seemed determined to spend his free time with.
So, when he casually dropped the idea of you coming to Toronto to watch a game, your first instinct was to laugh it off.
“Right,” you said with a chuckle, taking a sip of your coffee. “I’m sure I’d fit right in at Scotiabank Arena in my Coyle jersey.”
“I’m serious,” he said, his blue eyes sparkling with amusement. “You’d be the most interesting person there. Besides, you’ve already seen us play in Boston. It’s only fair you experience it on my turf.”
You waved him off, brushing it aside as another one of his playful jabs.
But then, the next day, a notification lit up your phone: a plane ticket from Boston to Toronto, sent by none other than William.
You stared at the screen for what felt like an eternity.
This had to be a joke, right? A Leafs player going out of his way to invite you, a Bruins fan, to Toronto? It didn’t make sense.
He had options—lots of options. The kind of options who probably didn’t wear rival jerseys to dinner or roast him about Toronto’s lack of playoff success. So why was he bothering with you?
Your friend didn’t help, either. “I mean, it’s kind of romantic,” she said, scrolling through Instagram while lounging on your couch. “Maybe he just likes a challenge.”
You rolled your eyes. “Or maybe he just wants to prove he can win over a Bruins fan for the fun of it.”
“Why does it matter?” she said. “He’s into you. Who cares why? Take the trip.”
But you couldn’t shake the nagging doubt in the back of your mind. What if you went, and it turned out you were just some fleeting distraction? What if this was all a game to him? A bet between teammates?
You almost cancelled the flight.
Almost.
The day of the trip arrived, and you stood at Logan Airport, suitcase in hand, still second-guessing yourself. But as you boarded the plane and settled into your seat, you decided to stop overthinking. Maybe this was a bad idea—but maybe it wasn’t.
And a few hours later, you landed in Toronto, where William himself was waiting at the arrivals gate, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
“You actually came,” he said, his grin as wide as the Toronto skyline.
“Don’t make me regret it,” you replied, though you couldn’t help but smile back.
The night of the game, you were a bundle of nerves as you slipped on your Coyle jersey. True to your word, you weren’t about to switch allegiances, even for William.
When you arrived at Scotiabank Arena, the Leafs fans around you gave you a mix of side-eyes and incredulous stares, but William had made sure you were seated in a private box to avoid any real drama.
And from the moment the puck dropped, your attention flicked between the ice and William. He was in his element, skating with that effortless confidence, his hair slicked back under his helmet.
Every time he touched the puck, your heart raced, though you’d never admit it. And when he scored late in the second period, his celebration was as dramatic as ever—this time, pointing directly at you in the box.
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. He was so infuriating.
After the game, he found you waiting near the locker room, his grin as cocky as ever.
“Enjoy the show?” he asked, still catching his breath.
“You’re insufferable,” you said, crossing your arms.
“And yet, you’re still here,” he teased, his voice softer now.
You wanted to argue, to push back, but something about the way he looked at you made your walls crumble. Maybe he wasn’t just playing a game. Maybe this was real.
“Fine,” you said, your voice quieter. “Maybe I did enjoy it. Just a little.”
William’s smile widened, and he stepped closer, his hand brushing against yours. “Good. Because I’m not giving up on you that easily.”
_
Over the next few weeks, your relationship with William started to feel… real. The texts, the calls, the late-night FaceTimes where he’d tease you about the Bruins while you fired back equally sharp chirps about the Leafs’ playoff history. It was comfortable in a way you hadn’t expected—like you’d known each other forever instead of just a few months.
He’d flown back to Boston twice since your trip to Toronto, once surprising you with tickets to a game that you’d begrudgingly attended (in your Bruins jersey, of course). And despite the growing attention from both your friends and random Leafs fans online—thanks to William’s not-so-subtle Instagram stories—it felt easy.
And that ease was what brought him to your apartment one chilly Thursday night, fresh off a practice in Toronto and desperate to escape the chaos of hockey for a few days. He showed up at your door with a crooked smile and a bag of takeout, unapologetically dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie, as if he wasn’t one of the most recognizable players in the NHL.
“I told you not to come here empty-handed,” you said as he stepped inside.
“I brought food,” he said, holding up the bag. “And me. That counts, right?”
You rolled your eyes but smiled, leading him to the couch. The night unfolded in your usual way—dinner, teasing banter, and a ridiculous movie you half-watched while he tried to convince you to root for the Leafs just once.
“Never,” you said, nudging him with your elbow as the credits rolled.
“Not even if I score a hat trick in the playoffs?”
“Please. Like Toronto’s making it past the first round.”
He groaned dramatically, letting his head fall back against the couch. “You’re ruthless, you know that?”
“And you love it,” you shot back, earning a smirk that made your stomach flip.
As the room fell quiet, you realized how close he was. His arm was draped over the back of the couch, his body turned slightly toward you, his blue eyes soft as they studied your face.
“What?” you asked, your voice quieter now.
“Nothing,” he said, but the way his gaze lingered told you otherwise.
You felt your cheeks heat under his scrutiny, and before you could overthink it, he leaned in, his hand coming up to cup your cheek. His lips brushed against yours, soft and slow, like he was giving you every chance to pull away.
But you didn’t.
Instead, you leaned into him, your hands finding their way to his shoulders as the kiss deepened. The world outside faded, the only sound the faint hum of the TV and the quiet hitch of your breath as his fingers traced along your jawline.
When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested against yours, a small, almost shy smile playing at his lips.
“You’re dangerous,” he murmured.
“You’re one to talk,” you whispered back, your heart pounding against your ribs.
For a moment, neither of you said anything, the quiet intimacy stretching between you like a fragile thread. It was a different kind of silence—one that felt warm, electric, and charged with a million unspoken words.
“You know,” he said eventually, his voice low, “I don’t just come here for the food.”
You laughed softly, your fingers brushing against his jaw. “I figured as much.”
“Good,” he said, kissing you again, slower this time, like he wanted to savour every second. “Because I’m not going anywhere.”
And in that moment, you believed him.
-
Until you didn’t.
The first crack came during a Friday night dinner at a cosy Italian spot in the North End.
It was supposed to be a quiet evening, but halfway through your meal, the whispers started.
“That’s William Nylander…”
“…isn’t she a Bruins fan? What’s she doing with him?”
“…he’s always with someone new…”
You tried to brush it off, focusing on your pasta while William remained unfazed, casually twirling his fork like he didn’t hear a thing. But the longer it went on, the harder it was to ignore.
By the time dessert arrived, the insecurities you’d managed to suppress since Toronto had resurfaced with a vengeance.
“Do you ever… get tired of this?” you blurted, pushing your tiramisu around with your spoon.
William looked up, his brows furrowing. “Tired of what?”
“This,” you said, gesturing vaguely. “The attention. The whispers. Everyone thinking I’m just another one of your… whatever.”
His expression softened, but you didn’t stop.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had fun—really. But maybe this was just a thing, you know? A fun distraction for you while you’re on the road. I mean, you’re William Nylander. You could date anyone. Why me?”
For a moment, he didn’t say anything, and the silence was deafening. You stared at your plate, feeling the familiar sting of regret creeping in. Maybe you’d gone too far. Maybe he’d been looking for an out, and you’d just handed it to him.
But then, he reached across the table, his fingers brushing against yours.
“Why not you?” he said quietly, his voice steady. “You’re smart, funny, and the only person who makes me actually want to argue about hockey. You’re not afraid to chirp me when I deserve it—and even when I don’t. And yeah, the attention sucks sometimes, but it doesn’t matter. What matters is you.”
You blinked, your throat tightening as his words sank in.
“And for the record,” he added, a small smirk creeping onto his face, “you’re not a ‘fun distraction.’ If you were, I wouldn’t have flown to Boston twice in a month just to see you.”
Your lips twitched, a reluctant smile breaking through. “You’re really laying it on thick, huh?”
“Is it working?” he asked, his smirk turning into a full grin.
“Maybe,” you admitted, rolling your eyes but squeezing his hand back.
But the drama didn’t end there.
A few days later, an article popped up online: William Nylander Seen Cosying Up to Mysterious Bruins Fan in Boston.
The headline was bad enough, but the comments? Worse.
“She’s just another puck bunny.”
“Why would he date a Bruins fan? Total PR move.”
“She’s not even that pretty…”
You tried not to let it bother you, but when William called that night, you were unusually quiet.
“What’s going on?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.
“Nothing,” you lied, staring at your laptop screen where the article was still open.
“Come on,” he pressed. “Talk to me.”
You sighed, finally breaking. “I don’t know if I can do this, Will. The articles, the comments… people think I’m just using you, or that I’m some… whatever they want to call me.”
“They don’t know you,” he said firmly. “And they don’t know us.”
“But they think they do,” you argued. “And it’s exhausting.”
He was quiet for a moment, and you braced yourself for the worst.
But then he spoke again, “What if I made it official?”
You froze. “What?”
“What if I posted about us?” he said, his tone calm but confident. “Let people see that you’re not just some random girl. That we’re serious.”
Your heart skipped a beat, but doubt still lingered. “Won’t that just make it worse?”
“Maybe,” he admitted. “But I don’t care. I want to be with you. And if that means dealing with some noise, so be it.”
You were silent, his words hanging heavy in the air.
“Look,” he continued, his voice softening. “You can take all the time you need to think about it. But just know that I’m not going anywhere.”
A week later, you were scrolling through Instagram when you saw it.
A picture of the two of you at dinner, taken from a slightly awkward angle but undeniably sweet. The caption?
“Even a Bruins fan can’t resist a little blue and white 💙🤍.”
The comments were a mix of support, chirps, and Leafs-Bruins banter, but for the first time, you didn’t care.
Because when you texted him to call him out for posting it without warning, his only response was:
“Told you I’m not going anywhere.”

LOISBAT TRICK PLS >:)
Bruce was raised to drink tea in a proper, refined, and detailed way. Lois was raised with no regard for any ritual regarding hot water. Unless she's needing caffeine, Lois will go for a mug of hot water, honey, and lemon. She calls it tea. This goes against everything that Bruce knows.
In Lois' kitchen she has a set of justice league mugs. The Superman one she'd long taken to the Planet and it sits forever on her desk. The Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and others are at the very back of the shelf, dusty and untouched. And then there is the Batman mug.
Bruce discovers the Batman mug one day while visiting her. It is stained and chipped and well used. He holds it in his hand. He puts it back on the shelf.
At home, Bruce has a Daily Planet thermos mug. When they've been working too long on their separate cases, when the distance between their cities is too great, Bruce will fill that thermos mug with hot water, honey, and lemon. It tastes like her.
Alfred finds it sacrilegious but he doesn't say a thing.

yet another snippet of the c!dreambur post-canon in utah au
I'm not sure if I'll ever make this concept into a proper fic, and even if I do I'm not sure how many of these snippets will make it in/stay canon to the story, but I'm enjoying writing them anyway
#c!dreambur#madduo#dreblr#all roads lead to... utah?#I'm thinking about them all the time and especially thinking constantly about this au#hmmm maybe one day if I have proper motivation I *will* turn it into a proper fic#writing from the void

*starts another time loop premise* im sorry, time loops really are THE fic premise
#shitpost#i watched groundhog day a few too many times as a youth im sorry#also window of opportunity#anyways. i wrote some notes for the mouthwashing idea.#i think it'd be short because it really IS like a true character study.#also my bang premise that im working on is specifically a 'second loop' premise#and fled is like a 'final loop' (with the massacre ending being a spinoff into a more proper timeloop premise)#but like. i dont actually write the proper timeloop in most of my timeloop stories#its just like a premise#a way to give the characters the same sort of info we have as readers (which is great for a fic)#anyways. most of my premises are like that#future rwby timeloop fic with 3 loopers in the background#tbh ive been THINKING about that one recently. weiss and jaune timeloop besties <3#and secret third time looper#and... a treat for me.... TWO OZPINS.

i think. everyone should stop reading my most popular fics that aren't really that good and start reading the ones with 18 kudos that are significantly better
#this is about (just wanna be) somebody i'm proud of#yes i had fun writing it. but it's REALLY NOT THAT GOOD#also i cannot stress this enough: that fic was a fluke#it's NOT a good example of what i write. guys i'm so much better at the angsty character study fics#i promise i actually can get proper characterization. i had to sacrifice some of that for the light-hearted stupid cheesy premise#alas#no one in fandom actually cares about characterization#ngl sometimes i even wonder what the point of writing stuff in-character is if the flat#'characters reduced to a single trait that they may or may not even possess'#fics will ALWAYS end up being more popular than the ones with good characterization#anyway i know why the 18 kudos one is so low. it's the mcd tag. AND it's a gen fic centered around a character no one cares about#i wasn't expecting that one to do well#but it does suck that like. my most popular fics will never actually be my best ones#it's the same with bsd but THAT'S a whole other story#that's the phenomenon of everyone reducing bsd to the skk show and not giving the time of day to fics centered around anyone else#do u guys realize there are SO many other INCREDIBLE characters and dynamics????#like i was doing that bsd fic rec event on twt and almost all of the fics recced were skk#meanwhile i was searching for anything NOT skk bc idk other ships and characters deserve appreciation too??#and i don't even read much skk bc it's so hard to find anything that's. like. ACTUALLY good.#anyway. i don't actually care if you read somebody i'm proud of#but i hate that that's like. one of my most popular fics by a longshot#i have stuff that is so much better that people won't even glance at bc it's not tagged with the most popular m/m ship in the fandom#hello grace here

im like. two seconds away from writing a “norman and skip get used to the whole symbiosis thing” fic. I cannot stop thinking about them
#will aso get me to write a proper piece of fic for once? maybe#I have so many thoughts about them. and about the effects of brainslugging#and also the mechanics of mentaphagian and aguatunisian languages. I am a little linguistics bitch at heart#I don’t think the languages bit will play into this fic idea like. at all. but when I’m not thinking about skip and norm#im thinking about why all the slugs kept sticking their tongues in each other’s eyes. and how that plays into the way the communicate#maybe one day I’ll make a post detailing that hc. but for now. I’m really considering writing a fic about these fuckers.

ANYWHO goodnight tumblr i'll be back on the art grind tomorrow i think 🙏
#haunted ecosystem#i'll take a burst of creativity in a different form than usual than the burnout slump i've been in for a few months#<- part of why my fandom stuff has taken a smidge of a backseat#dont get me wrong i am still very excited about my fandoms im just having fun off in oc hell (affectionate)#its nice to just be able to create and not really worry about perception. and also i feel Less bad about just throwing ocs into the wringer#((blame the fact i've been REALLY interested in whump recently and i have been. fixated. on one of my characters.))#and ALSO i've been! rekindling my flame for wtds. i've been putting off thinking about it since that fic got.#nothing bad happened? but it was still very devastating that somebody who i considered a friend from that fic just. evaporated.#but i'm gonna finish that fic for him :) even if it takes a year. even if it's the one thing i finish ever. it'll be wtds.#for where its gotten me and the fact its what got me out of my shell and is the reason i trust that my writing is good!#i used to really hate rereading my work. i catch flaws that are obvious to me. but that fic. i just think about how *good* the story is#that story means. a lot to me? as a person? like the main character is not a good person. but people care about him anyway.#and there are so many little things. so many sentiments. so much that is a love letter to people who've done bad but learnt to do better#because. god knows i wasnt a good person even just a few years ago. and maybe i see myself in him a bit.#he came from a place of paranoia and fear and pain. and maybe its a good thing that i've found it difficult to write him recently.#because god. i've been HAPPY. even with the rough moments and bad days. i've been happy. i mean fuck.#my birthday's what. ten days away? god damn man. i'm going to be 18. that's an achievement.#i want to look the kid who thought it was over at half my age and tell him we fucking made it. and there are more years to come.#there's a life ahead. even if it's going to be a bitch. even if it's going to be tough. there's love in your heart and people who care and#you're going to fucking live and you're going to feel better one day. you have people to meet properly and thank and cherish.#because for every day it feel like the world's ending there are a dozen more where the sun shines just the right way through the rain#and you can't help but smile because it's just so god damn beautiful.#and fuck it. you're sick. your hands hurt and your legs don't work right. and it's tough sometimes. but you have people who understand.#you have people who honest to god love you for who you are and appreciate your company. and 18 is the first step.#you've spent half your life unlearning things and you've spent half your life relearning how to be what YOU want to be#and if you're a mediocre artist and passionate writer then you'll be fucking great at that. taking the time to learn when it strikes you.#and maybe this is for me. but its also for anybody reading it too. please god if there's one thing you take from this let it be that#somebody out there cares. *I* care. god i care. even if we've never spoken proper i care about you.#i practically have a list of everybody i see in my inbox. i love seeing familiar names show up. i.#i dont know how to neatly wrap up this tag ramble. but. i am so damn full of love it hurts sometimes. its scary to be happy but thats ok!

my new thing is obsessing over a funny little guy for a few months before moving onto another funny little guy
#random thoughts#my ideal fnaf sunandmoon fic which i will never write because that's where i draw the line#is one in which yn doesn't think sun and moon are. sentient. at first.#and by at first i mean for a large chunk of the story#like yeah he's a robot! he's a very sophisticated piece of ai of course he's gonna be lifelike#sun and moon are designed to learn and adapt and they can SEEM very human but it's important to remember they are not alive#but they still treat sun and moon decently because? why wouldn't they?#like sun and moon are constantly learning ai. it's important to model proper behavior so they know how they and others should act#specifically among freddy's staff! if sunandmoon don't know how staff SHOULD behave then they have no frame of reference#for what behavior should be reported or how sunandmoon are SUPPOSED to act around staff for maximum efficiency#if you get mad at the robot for being damaged and they're designed to entertain#they're not gonna want to tell you next time they get damaged and you can't just rely on scans and weekly examinations#because scans miss things and some damage is too severe to wait for their next examination#in an ideal setting you WANT the animatronics to be able to communicate openly with you because THEY are a tool for their OWN repair#THEY can recognize what is damaged VERY WELL#and if it's a software issue then you need to be able to read their BEHAVIOR. body language and shit#and if sunandmoon are CONSTANTLY ON EDGE AROUND STAFF you're not gonna be able to see a base body language to go off of#also constant stress is bad for machines. like running the same commands over and over again until overheating. bad for babey#and of COURSE they're gonna help around the daycare!!! THE DAYCARE ATTENDANT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A REPLACEMENT FOR HUMAN WORKERS#the daycare attendant is a GIMMICK. a NOVELTY. a TOOL meant for the use of the human daycare attendants#a forever playmate who remembers every detail about every child under their care? who never tires and isn't affected by cleaning chemicals?#they're so USEFUL! a supplement to the human daycare attendant!#like a swiss army knife of rainy day games and orange slices#it's a horrible shame the owners of the pizzaplex got cheap and stopped hiring human daycare attendants to save on labor#because the daycare attendant works best when they have someone else's behavior to model. otherwise it gets caught in a loop#which constantly degrades and simplifies. like recording a recording over and over again until all you can hear is white noise#of COURSE something bad was gonna happen!#and sunandmoon don't really have any opinion on this besides agreeing because they ARE an animatronic.#sunpots and moonpans

a minute of silence to my skills to estimate how long a project is ever going to take
#my google calendar and Carl bot (and my friends) have been kind enough to inform me today was the estimated posting date of heist au#suffice to say that is not happening#it would have been rad to make a habit out of the co-occurrence of starting a new job and starting to post a finished WIP but alas#that will not be happening for a while longer#I have no idea when will I find the time for writing between two jobs and the big bang but. we'll work something out.#but hey it's good to give your projects breathing space so your brain can do the work in the background and solve the problems for you#I'll probably need to go back and revamp the whole last chapter I've been working on#but I'm still too sick and jet lagged and sick to be thinking about that so I'll consume some more media in the meantime#and complain about how bad the fic I'm listening to is. like god it's supposed to be so romantic and cute and he's literally#depriving her bodily autonomy and her friends support him I want to leave a strongly worded comment so bad#I will not be doing that but god it's so awful I should have stopped listening to this fic long ago. so that's a lesson learned.#put the fucking fic down there's plenty of stuff that's going to be better#hot take I sure no one saw coming sometimes things that are popular are actually bad#anyway have some stream of fucking consciousness /ref to another fic I'm fighting hard to keep discontinued#I know I won't like it why is this so hard#heist au should have been posted today based on maths btw. maths I did wrong for the first time which means it should have been posted#a year ago really#not like I have the proper structure to do a heist au daily#but it would have been fun to post the first chapter on the exact day it takes place. idk just for flavour#does all this make any sense? hardly. this is a diary entry and my two braincells are firing random thoughts at each other#that's fine though. it's all fine. here have some popcorn to go with all this nonsense 🍿🍿🍿 <3#(and also all the drama in the new shadow and bone season. ugh it's so good I love Wesper SO. MUCH. or just Waylan. and Nikolai.#he's my blorbo assigned at first relevant information. relavant information: he's my friend's blorbo#but gods he's so my type it's scary. of course I'll have him as my blorbo. of course of course!#*puts him on a shelf next to Adrien Draco and Hunter*#*steps back to think before putting Waylan there too and sitting Zuko on the far end*#war crimes look so good on them :3#miaing#heist au

guhhhh i am struggling so much with ch3
#i'd say i hate it but i also love it like#it's fun to torment conrart while simultaneously letting conrart sit on adalbert's face#and if i keep writing he'll get to like. be a little mean to adalbert lol. in a way that is potentially gonna be ambiguous as to#whether he's just domming without proper negotiation or just being shitty lmao. well we'll see how it ends up coming out#like ch3 and parts of ch4 are the chapters where it gets kinda Unhealthy between them and that's a lot of fun for me#but also it's so humiliating to write LMAO#also agonizing having to like. do exposition. i hate writing exposition#if it were up to me everything would be like. one vivid scene with some dialogue and that would tell you everything. but noooo i had to#go and write a multichap with like. a tiny bit of plot to glue the smut scenes together/give them context#which means i actually need to write that glue#...and i already skipped ahead the other day and wrote the face sitting scene LMAO so i really gotta do the difficult parts now#ofc when i finish ch3 i get to face the void that is ch4...#like i know in summary what happens in ch4 but i don't know the details about the like really vital scene#BUT!!! in ch5 i get to start writing the conzak bits which are possibly my favorite part :) (aside from ch2 which i like a lot)#...i can't believe it takes four fucking chapters just to get connie out of adalbert's house LMAO. im so sorry my boy#you are gonna have some fantastic orgasms and learn some new things about yourself. but at what cost#fic tag

I was thinking about this all day but: I like to think after all the Tarn and Megatronus Prime shit goes down and they're both dead, at least someone (more likely: multiple someones) decide to group all of the Tarn fics together in a sub-archive and tap a few warnings saying "Hey, there's a bunch of these, the guy who wrote these is dead, and most of them are barely tagged if at all, so here's a general warning that some these fics may contain some seriously fragged up stuff."
Some poor spark might try and go through them just to tag them more, but dear lord that would be one hell of a task.
#tfp au#maccadam#transformers#tf tarn#in the wake of his death his fics 100% deserve some proper warnings (especially the later on ones)#(we know which ones i mean)#I've also been thinking about at least someone making a copycat fic and scaring the absolute shit out of mecha#because ''oh shit fuck is he writing fics from beyond the grave?!''#an urban legend was born that day and that singular vehicon who wrote it is so amused by this#''tell me who spilled soured energon on my berth and I'll spill my info on the evil author ghost''#just like that soured energon smell that urban legend about the undead tarn fics will stick around for a long time

Some souls are bound by destiny. From the moment they meet, a thread of fate connects them which none may tear asunder. But what if you could see that thread? What if that thread - and the one it ties you to - is all you have to cling onto in a world that threatens to pull apart at the seams? Would you keep hold of that thread, trust in the powers-that-be that this MUST happen, regardless of what your love might say? Or would you let it all go, and cut yourself adrift from the one thing you care about most in the whole world, so they could be happy? Would you accept Destiny... or embrace Doom?
Here's more drabble about Ralsei - now in a strange two-shot style thingy! It's its own thing because I liked the idea of pairing these together and that couldn't really be done very elegantly within the larger scope of the Dark Menagerie. Consider it a benign offshoot of that style of fic, if you like :p
Also horray the title of the fics show up in the links again instead of that vaguely-ominious "New Session" it said before! Party poppers and balloon animals all around :D
#ao3 post#fiction#fanfiction#deltarune#Ralsei#Kralsei#Krisei#drabble#character study#destiny#love#two shot#mirrored narratives#I actually really want to write a “proper” fic covering this subject one day#There's so much promise inherent in this premise#It'd be the most angsty and horrific thing I'll have ever written :D#Not to detract from this work but I've been thinking about it for a short while now#So be warned I guess lol
