Just a silly question if no one has asked yet! How would Gale celebrate GN Tav's birthday? Thanks!

Well Anon, I can attempt to describe the lengths that Gale “Grand Gestures” Dekarios goes to when celebrating his beloved’s day of birth, but I don’t know if I can do it justice.

You see, in Gale’s humble opinion, Tav’s birthday is more sacred than any religious holiday. It’s the day that the world was blessed with a soul brighter and more beautiful than any star in the heavens. It’s the day that the other half of his heart came into existence.

So now, every year, it’s a day where Gale is hell-bent on making his adoration for Tav known—regardless of any city safety regulations, noise ordinances, or even his own HOA’s restrictions on ‘large fireworks displays or other nonsense originating from a certain wizard’s tower.’

He simply pays them no heed—because pish-posh, everything he’s doing is an illusion! There’s no cause for alarm when it’s all an illusion! The flying dragons carrying heart-shaped banners, the ships carrying giant birthday cakes, the stars spelling out ‘I love you,’ the ferocious lovemaking with multiple copies of himself pleasuring Tav on the balcony all just an illusion! So what if it all happens to be viewable city-wide?!

(If and when there are complaints, Gale’s simulacrum will dutifully be sent off to city hall to beg forgiveness and cheerfully reassure the council that It Will Not Happen Again 😄😄😄!)

Of course there’s also the lavish gifts from Gale, the sumptuous dinner, even more lovemaking on the balcony, but I truly cannot do it all justice via words alone. Just trust me when I say that Tav has never felt more loved and cherished than when their wizard wakes them up with a gentle kiss on their birthday.

Which, by the way, goes something like this:

Gale: *kissing Tav’s hand* Good morning, my love. It’s your birthday!

Tav: *pulling Gale into a hug* It’s my birthday!

oh!! thanks for finding it:) “NOTHING HAS AN “ESSENCE”, EVERYTHING IS RECONSTRUCTABLE BEYOND RECOGNITION". i think i was thinking about my tendency at the time to think about things as having 'essences' or inherent qualities to them and i wanted to challenge that & remind myself that as soon as i assume something has an essence it will be reduced in my mind to that essence, when in reality it is always more, maybe infinitely more, and the beauty of the idea that i can make it more just by assuming it is more& my obsession with defamiliarization as a means of finding novelty.. the satisfaction i get with rendering the mundane world novel & exciting & therefore bringing meaning into my life by rearranging my experience of something.. this one is really similar to the other idea in the post "YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE BECAUSE YOU ARE SOMETHING THAT CANNOT BE THOUGHT OF" theyre the same thing but the former is more phenomenological whereas this one is more about one’s own subjectivity? like, this one is similar but instead the idea of yourself dissapearing in on yourself, finding yourself such a perfect example of yourself that you cross yourself out, your gaping silhouette of youness.. I knew a girl in high school who would pass out whenever she got in trouble, and we all thought it was a medical condition at first, but one time, she passed out on the band field during morning practice, yet fell in such a way that her flute didn't get damaged, and the entire band spread that news like wildfire, so I, a kid who would NEVER be caught dead near the band hall, heard about it by second period, and homegirl was roasted accordingly in fourth period Stats when someone told her to pass out before the test so we could get out of taking it but to make sure not to damage her the calculator. Point is - Pin is band girl. This is triflin' behavior. This is not a medical condition.

And Prik is just rubbing salt in her wounds. "Anin was fighting all the way until the bitter end for your love, but once she realized you were still going to marry a man who had a whole ass pregnant wife, she decided to go to the beach instead of attending your dumb wedding"

I really disliked Aon at the start of this show, but now her faces with Anin on this beach trip are amazing because Anin is going through it, and Aon is just like, "You wanna put some cucumbers on your eyes since you've been crying so much." She is helping, but also judging, and I like that.

This is what a true ally looks like. Shit was going DOWN in his palace, and all he could think about was telling his sister.

Her saying "sorry I fucked up and told you to die" or something like that. Doesn't haven't to be those exact words, but anything would be better than the NOTHING she is doing right now.

Penelope always has a dream about Anin leaving her or DYING, and even in her dreams, Penelope is too damn dramatic. ¡Cálmate, güey!

Wait. Is this green or orange? Someone needs to get the colorist on the phone because night time does not make a dress an entirely different color!

But the entire scene is beautiful, so the colorist made some decisions, and I cannot say they were bad decisions.

Anin laughing while Penelope is in pain is food for my petty soul.

Because Penelope is too smart to be this dumb! How did she not realize that Anin was upset that she was marrying a man and moving that man into her palace? Now Anin is laughing at Penelope in the house! Thank goodness because Penelope is still wildin' with these ridiculous questions! Your first question tasks me to choose a favorite among my children lol but I will give it a shot.

Distraction is a Drifter x Eris Destiny 2 fic I wrote last year. I'm proud of it because it was my first try at tiptoeing back towards the romance genre after over a decade since writing my previous fic (a FFVIII Squall x Rinoa thing I'd written on ffnet back when I was 19 lmao). It's pretty tame, I even stopped just short of tagging it as Romance, opting for Romantic Friendship instead, that's just how chicken I truly was LOL. My writing has definitely improved since, but ultimately, composing and sharing this fic helped alleviate some of my self-doubt at the time.

Nanami Kento & Casual Touches is one of my earlier JJK x Reader fics. I'm proud of this one not only for what I've created but the way by which it was produced. To this day, it was the easiest time I've had writing anything during what happened to be a difficult period for me. I'd somehow managed to turn my turmoil into one of the most hopeful and positive pieces I've ever written. Corny as it sounds, that story and that moment truly did so much for me. The only negative here is that I've been chasing that elusive high ever since LMAO.

Let’s clear something up. In the HL universe, you won’t be introducing Joker to anyone. I’m sorry anon, Joker is a secret in your life and will remain that way.

There are only four people who have seen Joker’s scars (who are still alive) Frost, Mac, Neo and you.

Out of those four; you have the honor of seeing Joker’s bare face the most. Joker exposes his face to you on a daily basis. J can be himself and not be the criminal Gotham City makes him out to be when around you.

It’s common practice for Joker to walk around the apartment like this.

I’ve written this in various oneshots and in the main story. If Joker does go out with you, (like on dates, errands, etc.) he will wear a face mask to cover his scars. He’s trying to blend in not stand out when he’s with you.

Overtime, Joker stops permanently dying his hair (per your request) and his skin can breathe without constantly applying greasepaint to it every night. You are slowly adapting Joker back into society one day at a time to the point where it’s a shock when he does wear his clown makeup.

It’s best to assume that Joker is barefaced when he’s around his Light. That’s the norm for him. 😍

Side note: I love describing J with freckles and unnaturally green eyes so let that image sink in anon. Joker is fine AF with or without makeup 💅🏾

May I ask what do radfems think about men wearing makeup? Or alternative subcultures where makeup is considered androgynous? For example goth and emo come to mind as quite common ones?

(I know you can't speak for everyone, but I've seen you post about makeup before)

i don't really have much opinion on men wearing make-up tbh (much as i don't re any individual women). the mechanisms behind it aren't the same, so it's not really comparable. there's no widespread social push for men to wear make-up, they're not being considered unprofessional or nonformal or underdressed for not wearing it. no one's arguing with a guy that he has to wear make-up for this and that occasion. men aren't being marketed it constantly. you don't have to look far and wide to to find a barefaced man in media (or, indeed, on the street). any obstacles a man might face due to wearing make-up is an entirely different (and here largely irrelevant) conversation (though of course still linked to misogyny + homophobia). in theory degendering make-up would be a positive, though i don't see that happening any time soon - and even then it would have to be achieved by more women actively not wearing make-up, not a handful of guys doing it.

i do think there's a certain disctinction to be made between 'everyday'/natural make-up and alt make-up, but not a giant one. it's still not particularly healty. it's also a misnomer to call make-up androgynous in most (if not all) of these subcultures imo - both the extent and styles differ, and it's still more women wearing it than men. the average emo guy is not spending the same amount of effort on make-up as his female counterpart. natural make-up is definitely worse in this regard, but i still think there's something inherently alienating about covering up your own face near-constantly.

it does discern itself slightly in that alt culture is obviously about rejecting social norms (while beauty culture is about following them), but it's naive to act like beauty culture isn't still influencing alt norms to a big degree. nothing exists in a vacuum. just because you're not following the trends doesn't mean you're not taking the ideas behind them in. alt makeup can still be about covering up 'blemishes', trying to achieve the appearance of a certain facial structure, etc - striving after a certain beauty norm, in short. cultural norms in alt spaces are still influenced by general cultural norms (i'd also argue that a lot of the trends aren't actually that different). they're not particularly less mysogynistic. (there's also something to be said about the commodification of alt cultures, but i won't get into that here.)

i'll acknowledge that the expression is different, though, and i do think there's more weight to the self-expression angle here. overall i do actually prefer seeing more 'out-there' as opposed to 'natural' make-up. there's something more active about it, in that you're not just playing along with the expected. no one's being coerced into doing corpse make-up or whatever. it's more conscious. i am a big fan of originality, of breaking norms, of not playing along, and of breaking trends. take that how you will.

tl;dr i don't think either have big enough societal influences to really matter in the big picture. while interesting, all of this is a minority of cosmetics use, and a fringe group of beauty culture as a whole. they're truly a drop in the ocean. thank you for the question.
