y'know what really sucks about society?

growing up as a kid (not realizing i was autistic) was in hindsight such a pain and exhausting, etc. like, it's so funny (sad) how i could simultaneously want desperately to make friends and also not give a damn shit because most ppl in school were extremely fake and i didn't want to waste time socializing with someone who really doesn't care about me. i never really had a problem with school, but it also wasn't really a good experience either, y'know?

so now, i, living in a society that constantly puts neurodivervent ppl at a disadvantage, find myself with no real connections or friends that i can rely on when i feel the need for them most (not including my best friends whom i've met online. but it's not like i can meet them irl y'know?)

so anyways. having been isolated from society as a whole, i now find myself stuck living with two emotionally abusive parents, one of which i have been repeatedly taught by society that i should be helping, lest i be a terrible person (she is my mother. she is physically disabled. and i am her caregiver.)

even when i find the mental strength to disregard society's unwritten obligations, i am unable to. i grew up without a stable support system. i live in a society; in a city where affordability is shit and i could never afford to live anywhere on my own if i wanted to. i have been actively seeking out a job that actually gives me more hours for over a year now. everyone competes for the same jobs. i continue getting job interviews. they always pass me up for someone else (even when i am more than qualified enough. and let's be real, it's probably because i am neurodivervent. even if i don't disclose that.)

i have three friends i know irl. one of them lives far away from me. one of them i haven't spoken to since high school. the third lives in the basement of a house the next city over with her husband and is expecting her third child. even if i wanted to, i couldn't stay with her. there isn't even enough space for me if i tried.

so i stay. i continue to retraumatize myself over and over. because i know it's my best opinion. if i left, i would live underneath a tree.

how is it that i can live in a country where i can simultaneously be privileged but also not really have anything? (i am a neurodivervent, gender nonconforming person of color. society would view me as a woman. i do not fit even close into the average clothing size. in a society that already is flawed. where the majority of people would probably classify as poor given the accelerated rate of inflation, etc.)

i feel that it's important to note, that i don't even live in the united states (since i'm sure a lot of people assume. heck, i assume a lot of the time that people are lol)

i also feel that i should say i'm not fishing for compliments or sympathy. i know that, despite everything, i am still privileged. i am just trying to find a way to express how i feel regardless of society trying to silence me.

Enough random notes that have a written story on them as environmental storytelling, explore the space, get crazier with it.

You move into a house and aw cute, it has the kids height on the walls but you notice there's a three foot difference in height between measurements, you check the date, they're a month apart. The final measurement is on the ceiling. It's dated two days ago.

You're part of a recovery team that have finally found a stranded ship, they were found too late and have all passed a long time ago. They all died of starvation. You enter their storeroom, it's filled with food. In the dining hall you find the tables laden with perfectly fine looking breads, cakes, cured meats, jams, candies. Your medic says all the people sitting at the table didn't eat a Thing.

You wake up in an apocalypse. You can't find anyone at all as you wander the streets but you do hear faint music playing from somewhere. You stumble into a supermarket, to see all the aisles still full, except for the shelf that was full of ear plugs, which look to be the only thing that was looted.

Like there's light, sound, props. Having a street where every house is decimated except for One. Landing on a planet known for having No Water and a plant is growing and you don't know where it could have possibly gotten moisture from but you can't find the citizens Anywhere.

I'm sorry, I'm just kinda over the "graffiti on the wall to show the bad guy is around". That's not environmental storytelling that's just normal story. Show me I'm in the villains territory by the rain suddenly cutting out above me as I'm driving, even though it's meant to be raining all night. I park the car and step out, and realise the constellations are Wrong, until I see they're Not constellations, they're the blinking lights of a massive ship-

I Will stop now because everytime I go to write a sentence it devolves into another prompt but I'm just saying we have a Lot of senses, engage them, show me the Environment in environmental storytelling.

i'm one hundred percent certain that after percy and annabeth made out underwater. and he wanted to make their relationship official. the question was not "will you be my girlfriend?" but "can i be your boyfriend?" i don't care what the canon says. percy gave annabeth the space to take the lead in the relationship. because after a lifetime of being abandoned by everyone she dared to care for. and then watching her on the brink of a panic attack at the thought of losing him the last four years. he wanted to honor a new beginning between them by follow her lead and moving at her pace.

One of my favourite aspects in the season 2 of Heartstopper is how unapologetically intolerant everyone is towards homophobia. Like.

Harry showing up at Tara's birthday party and Charlie shutting the door in his face despite that apology.

Nick freely calling out his brother's biphobic behavior. Tori literally sinking her nails in David's arm when he was mocking Charlie and Nick and planning to out them.

It's so refreshing. There's no moment where someone asks Charlie or Nick to be the "bigger people" and forgive anyone who undermined, mocked, dismissed, and harassed them for their identity.

Because that shit shouldn't be tolerated ever and it's not acceptable. Queer people aren't here to be your redemption arc.

I have developed a habit of telling people that I love that I thought of a fun joke tweet at their expense and tell them before posting.

I realize now that these people, who have in the past gotten up my ass about shit I posted that was a subtweet about them before, don't actually give a fuck. But, like I said, they've been up in my face about joke subtweeting about them before.

So yeah, now I do a little bit extra work for their emotional well-being.

All of you complain about overstimulation and sensory overload

We need to talk about under stimulation. I’m not saying I want to be overloaded with information. No I mean when I get panic attacks because there is not enough self stimulation in a situation. I have to walk out of meetings to pace around and think to calm myself down because my fight or flight response has activated from being not being able to stim.

I get so anxious when I cannot listen to music or have something playing in the background because I need stimulation that I choose to have and which I have control over

It physically hurts my brain.

the thing about antisemitism that offends me the most (outside of, you know, horrific violence) is the sense of *ownership* over judaism from non-jewish, especially (in my experience) christian, society. it’s the evangelicals holding seders and the atheists casually joking about “YHWH”. it’s the sense that to them, jews are nothing but a prequel. we are irrelevant, and therefore in the public domain. in more overt examples, it’s holocaust inversion and jokes about “the goyim”. they look at us and say, “all that was yours now belongs to me.” it’s the assumption that our life and culture is open to all, and that we are somehow greedy by not letting them have it.

when we do exist to christian society, it’s as a means to an end: “good thing the jews are still around, otherwise how would they all be gathered in zion?”, or its being treated as a relic, as living replicas of the Old Times: “those silly jews, they’re stuck living in the past!”

it’s dehumanizing, and frustrating, and i hate it.
