I can’t stress enough how important queer representation is in youth literature

My first introduction to an actual gay character was reading percy Jackson when I was in fifth grade. Up until then my only exposure to the lgbt community was through what the church taught and what my mom was too afraid to tell me. So you get the image that it wasn’t good. But Rick riodian gave me lovely relatable characters that were different from any other characters I’d seen prior.

And of course I didn’t start off happy with it. My friend and I went online and talked about how much we hated solangelo. But we were 11 and didn’t understand. After I had time ro adjust, to unlearn everything I thought I knew, I was able to accept the ship and quickly relate to it. Showing kids that it’s ok to be themselves, and that it’s ok to question what you’ve thought before and is so so important.

My senior year of highschool begins in September, and my gpa is 1.8 :(

I wasn’t the best student, but (very personal) life circumstances definitely didn’t help me do better.

Do you have any advice for raising a gpa as quickly as possible? Thank you for reading!

hi anon! i'm really sorry but i'm not the best person to ask because i've never been in an education system with gpas so i've never had one myself or had to think about raising it.
